Pepe's Cafe is the perfect example of "Never judge a book by its cover" and let me explain why. On my roadtrip with my buddy back to Florida we decided to stop here for initially breakfast. Sadly we arrived too late due to a flat tire. We walked in and were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever we liked. As we were sitting down we instantly had chips & salsa being served to our table. We were very skeptical about the quality of the food so we decided to order their Chicken Quesadilla with avocado and light cheese to share. The service was quick and accurate with our order. Due to us being skeptical we planned to just have a proper lunch elsewhere, but that all changed the moment we both took our first bite. Immediately we looked at each other and knew we had to order a second plate of this Chicken Quesadilla. We immediately called over the lady and asked for a second plate. The place was very well decorated, we especially liked the glass shelf casing with the comics. We noticed many locals began to enter and they seemed to be on top of getting everyone situated nicely. We went in not expecting much and ended up leaving very shocked and satisfied. If you're ever passing by Ozona please do yourself a favor a stop by here. If you've traveled on IH10 West, you know there aren't many restaurant options. Yes, there is plenty of fast food, but that's about it. We wanted a sit down place to stop and take a break, plus be served. You can miss this place. A bright yellow building, many cars out front and notably a hub for hungry people! Came in about 45 minutes before they closed. Service was nice and efficient with a humble, friendly atmosphere. Complementary chips served in a bowl, with an unusual warm salsa to start. My husband & I both got the chicken enchiladas, The chicken was in small chunks and was moist, but the cheese inside made it even better. Could have been a homemade queso? It was creamy and delicious.The rice and beans were piping hot and the enchiladas bubbling when presented. Flavors more of a Sonoran style, but very good. The prices were fair for what they offer. However, we got a side of pico ' it came in a small 2 oz container that wasn't full for $2. Menu doesn't have combo options which was kinda disappointing, but overall we were happy with this little spot we stopped! read more

Local mom and pop restaurant that seems to be very popular with the locals. You can sit anywhere you'd like. Limited vegetarian options. Our server was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable about their menu, which eased our minds. Portions were generous and reasonably priced. The food was tasty. Wish they served margaritas. Where the 10 and the 163 meet there is a place called Ozona. You might pass through here on a roadtrip and while at the gas station you might spot Pepe's. Go ahead and give it a try. I recommend the horchata, it's made to order like their lemonade. I love that sort of thing. And I loved the slight difference in flavors from what I'm used to. The salsa for the chips was warm and tomato forward. The salsa on the enchiladas was also same same but different. And the rice was more orange than red. How neat. A lively little spot in Ozona , Texas. Honestly one of the few options in town for dinner. Closed for business mid afternoon and Mon-Tues so be sure to check hours. We were pleasantly greeted and seated. It was clear that the restaurant is short staffed but running to keep everyone served well. This is a BYOB and we were prepared so our server offered to open our beers and give us a couple of glasses. The menu is rather limited, but our orders were taken very quickly and out before we knew it. The food was standard text mix fare. I needed a satisfying breakfast before hitting the road on a 6hr drive back home... Pepes is a locally owned restaurant with a lot of really cool artwork all created by the owner. The breakfast menu is small but has a good selection of food. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. Dish came with 2 eggs, refries beans, hash browns and 2 flour tortillas. I added a side of bacon for a nominal fee... The eggs were cooked well and the salsa topping was delicious! I even asked for more! It's true homemade salsa. The tortillas were also made in house and oh so good! The waitress was pretty busy as she was serving, cashier, and doing take out all on her own, but still made sure we were given the proper service. This was by far the most satisfying meal I've had in a long time. This place will definitely become one my regular stops when I'm in Ozona. read more

We are driving from TN to California on military orders . As there is nothing for a long stretch of I10 and we were sleeping in Ft Stockton that night , reviews led us here at dinner time . First, let me preface by saying the waitress was extremely nice. However, that was the only nice thing . The restaurant was extremely dirty from the moment you walk in . The table cloth had stains all over it and the clear piece on top still had food from whoever sat there before . The chips and salads brought out were the worst i have ever had. The salsa was for some reason hot and tasted like ragu spaghetti sauce. The chips tasted like soapy dish water. We ordered chicken dishes. The chicken was the saltiness thing I have ever had. Quaint hole in the wall place with friendly service. Stopped in on our way across the state. Restaurant is fully decorated with a variety of unique and colorful art. For the holiday, there was also some additional festive decor put up and some of the staff had on Christmas sweaters, which was very friendly. Only negative point is the bathroom. The handle of the toilet is missing and replaced by a black lace, which was soaked to the touch. Yuck! As for the food, the flavors were very rich. Both of our meals were done well. The salsa was still slightly warm and tasted very fresh as well. The rice was certainly made with butter. Great looking restaurant, unremarkable food We stopped by this restaurant for brunch on our way to San Antonio. Unfortunately, we missed the breakfast menu by 10 minutes (which finished at 11 am), so we had to choose from the lunch menu. You would never expect the best chili relleno in Texas to be found in Ozona, but after following the advice of many friends, my wife and I stopped here on the way back from Marfa. What a wonderful place we found. You could not expect better service, friendlier staff or better food than at Pepe's. One major tip is that they only have chili relleno on weekends and they go fast. Expect a crowd unless you arrive early or late and, if you arrive late, there won't be any chili relleno left. We arrived at 12:45 and there was only one left. My wife won the fight and got the majority of it, but the Mexican plate that I had was also outstanding. read more

This little place is colorful and fun. And the food is very good. A good variety of Tejas and Mexican cuisine that is flavorful and well-seasoned. Even the pinto beans on the side were in an exceptional broth. We had the catfish tacos and chicken fajita salad, which we loved--again, remarkably flavorful. When we stopped for the night on our long drive across Texas on I-10, the front desk clerk at the Hampton Inn in Ozona, Texas, told us that Pepe's Cafe has good Mexican food and would allow our dog to come in with us, so we headed there. We were pleased to see a ramp with handrails leading to the main entrance, a plus for those who walk with difficulty. The place is well-lit and lively with bright colors and an outdoor fountain. The servers were friendly and the food was delicious! Fresh, homemade salsa and chips are served right away. I ordered GREAT veggie fajitas! Ok. I don't like to complain. But come on. Price gouging is ridiculous. I understand cutting costs but ripping off customers is wrong. Shame on you Pepés. 5-10 total French fries with a dinner order. A LARGE queso where you get less than a cup of cheese for $10.50! Need tartar sauce for the catfish? It's an extra charge. The side salads for dinner? No veggies, all white parts of lettuce and NO dressing. This isn't even the first time! Every time we order, multiple trips have to be made to get parts of the order forgotten or left out. Every. Really cute decor both inside and out, colorful and one-of-a-kind! The staff also had a charming, carefree kind of attitude that made you laugh. We were looking for a local spot for breakfast and it was our good fortune to have found Pepe's. When we walked in there were two men sitting at a table sharing stories over coffee. One was the owner who immediately came over with coffee and tea. Minutes later the waiter,the sone of the owner, came over to take our order.
