If you're not from Texas and you have ever wondered what Tex Mex is this is the place for you... It is an amazing value and freshly prepared tasty food by some of the friendliest folks you will find around!

Where the 10 and the 163 meet there is a place called Ozona. You might pass through here on a roadtrip and while at the gas station you might spot Pepe's. Go ahead and give it a try. I recommend the horchata, it's made to order like their lemonade. I love that sort of thing. And I loved the slight difference in flavors from what I'm used to. The salsa for the chips was warm and tomato forward. The salsa on the enchiladas was also same same but different. And the rice was more orange than red. How neat. And the place had a bright funky atmosphere.

A lively little spot in Ozona , Texas. Honestly one of the few options in town for dinner. Closed for business mid afternoon and Mon-Tues so be sure to check hours. We were pleasantly greeted and seated. It was clear that the restaurant is short staffed but running to keep everyone served well. This is a BYOB and we were prepared so our server offered to open our beers and give us a couple of glasses. The menu is rather limited, but our orders were taken very quickly and out before we knew it. The food was standard text mix fare. Our server made sure to check on us a couple of times and was very attentive. With not too many other options in town I'd say check it out if you're looking for lunch or dinner.

I needed a satisfying breakfast before hitting the road on a 6hr drive back home... Pepes is a locally owned restaurant with a lot of really cool artwork all created by the owner. The breakfast menu is small but has a good selection of food. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros. Dish came with 2 eggs, refries beans, hash browns and 2 flour tortillas. I added a side of bacon for a nominal fee... The eggs were cooked well and the salsa topping was delicious! I even asked for more! It's true homemade salsa. The tortillas were also made in house and oh so good! The waitress was pretty busy as she was serving, cashier, and doing take out all on her own, but still made sure we were given the proper service. This was by far the most satisfying meal I've had in a long time. This place will definitely become one my regular stops when I'm in Ozona.

Deluxe dinner plate and steak fajitas

Quaint hole in the wall place with friendly service. Stopped in on our way across the state. Restaurant is fully decorated with a variety of unique and colorful art. For the holiday, there was also some additional festive decor put up and some of the staff had on Christmas sweaters, which was very friendly. Only negative point is the bathroom. The handle of the toilet is missing and replaced by a black lace, which was soaked to the touch. Yuck! As for the food, the flavors were very rich. Both of our meals were done well. The salsa was still slightly warm and tasted very fresh as well. The rice was certainly made with butter. Enchiladas and tamales were flavorful and cheesy, and the steak in the fajitas were cooked well. Well done for the price.

Great looking restaurant, unremarkable food We stopped by this restaurant for brunch on our way to San Antonio. Unfortunately, we missed the breakfast menu by 10 minutes (which finished at 11 am), so we had to choose from the lunch menu. We shared some quesadillas (which were quite nice) and a BLT which seemed to be a small sandwich with a mountain of fries - not quite what we were looking for! To be fair, we probably didn't order the right things.

    Chili relleno
    Thomas B.

You would never expect the best chili relleno in Texas to be found in Ozona, but after following the advice of many friends, my wife and I stopped here on the way back from Marfa. What a wonderful place we found. You could not expect better service, friendlier staff or better food than at Pepe's. One major tip is that they only have chili relleno on weekends and they go fast. Expect a crowd unless you arrive early or late and, if you arrive late, there won't be any chili relleno left. We arrived at 12:45 and there was only one left. My wife won the fight and got the majority of it, but the Mexican plate that I had was also outstanding.

    Colorful inside, love it

This one is a solid 3.8, with potential for more…read more I let Liz pick lunch in Ozona, and on a Sunday afternoon, she picked a very unassuming Destiny's Grill. Though small and quiet, this little grill puts out really good food. My daughter kept it simple with a dry cheeseburger. It comes with a side of fries that are cooked fresh, but maybe needed some time to breathe or dash a little bit of salt. The burger was cooked really well though. Noah enjoyed his carne asada tacos. Liz ordered the Potosino nachos, which were like a loaded nachos. Loaded means it came with beans, grill d tomato and jalapeno, thin slices of skirt steak, and cheese. It looked good, and I grabbed a few at the begining. I really enjoyed my Potosino plate. It was the same thing slices of skirt steak, grilled onion, jalapeno, and tomato that was on the nachos, but my plate came with Spanish and refried beans. (Same as Noah's kid taco plate). So, why the 3? It's a small place, and the dining area can be overwhelmed by a rush. Though the folks that knew were just getting food to go. There's about 7 tables/booths for 4 each, and it got crowded right after we sat down and ordered. Hey, if I can't get my coffee refilled without asking, well... Overall, I did enjoy the food. The place was clean and comfortable. It was the lack of speedy service was on no way a deal killer, but when you're on the EP to SA road trip time management can matter. Check it out if you're stopping in Ozona.

First of all, let me just say that Dawn, the owner, and her son, Curtis (the chef) have a totally charming place inside and I had one of the best burgers EVER! I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered the child's size hamburger and fries, and it was just right! They even added all the fixin's for me! Plus! You know when you have a hankerin' for a cold Dr. Pepper on ice? Well, this one was a PERFECT mix of the syrup and fizz! My husband had the patty melt on rye (comes with mozzarella instead of Swiss) and he said it was A+, too. Btw, Dawn named the restaurant JoJo's because of her pet monkey of the same name, and his picture is everywhere. Plus I had the joy of talking to 6 year old Emily about mermaids. If I ever pass through El Dorado again, I will definitely stop here again. Home cooking at it's yummiest!

On a road trip from Houston to Phoenix, I made a pit stop to get some gas. It made sense to get…read moresome food too, and Dairy Queen was right next to the gas station. So my decision was made. I used the drive through on a Saturday evening. Service (4/5): Since I used the drive through, rather than dining in (there's plenty of parking), service wasn't a big part of the experience. With that being said, I was greeted almost immediately upon pulling up, once I asked for a few minutes, I received a polite response, and my order came out as it should have. All in all, the lady taking my order did a great job. Which isn't always the case, as we know some fast food workers don't care at all about their jobs. This wasn't the case here. Ketchup and napkins included without asking. Ambiance (N/A): I mean it's fast food, so you know, not really a romantic spot. But, even when at a fast food joint, you want it to be clean. Since I didn't go inside, I can't talk about how things are here. Drinks (N/A): I didn't order a drink, but if you're at Dairy Queen, a milkshake is the way to go. Food (2.5/5): Some good and some bad here. I'll start with the food. My food was piping hot, which means it was freshly fried rather than sitting under a heat lamp for a while. This is always a nice touch at a fast food restaurant, and not by any means guaranteed. I went with the chicken fried steak fingers basket which comes with Texas toast, fries, and warm white gravy. Props to Dairy Queen for a Texas classic, chicken fried steak, in fingers form. You can choose between four or six fingers. I went with six. Which is a lot. I was stuffed after consuming this meal. The steak fingers are also quite heavy, so I wasn't feeling great afterwards. But hey, it did what I wanted. Filled me up while I was on the road. Dairy Queen isn't in the upper echelon of fast food joints in my mind, but I will give it mid-tier status. While I didn't get any ice cream while I was there, given that I had dessert earlier that day, it's what they're known for.
