In early October my wife and I chanced upon Pirouette which was near where we were renting an apartment. After our first dinner we went back twice, once for dinner and once for lunch, a testimony to the delicious food and the great service. Yes, we tried every item on the menu and the only thing we didn't love was the squid. Yes, the waiters speak English without an attitude and happily explain the menu and the wine list, the latter being quite varied. Kudos to Giles and Thomas.
One night we had the grouse special, slightly rare in a wondrous brown sauce. Of course we had the soft egg with light pasta on top and assorted vegetable. Another day we had the fennel soup, which actually tasted like fennel. The duck appetizer was great, with two different sauces--a nice variation on sweet and sour. My wife had the rare beef which was delicious, and for lunch one day we had the mullet which was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. The chef, Tomy Gusset, has a practiced hand and is often in the kitchen. We left Paris feeling that we had real friends at Pirouette.
Also, must have reservations for lunch of dinner. read more
