Horrible food!! All three of us got severe food poisoning next day after eating dinner here the previous day. This place looks glam but from inside its all a big sham. There was no soap in any of the women restroom soap dispensers and when I asked the lady manager who happened to be in the toilet at that time just went out without washing her hands or fixing the problem!! Mushroom Glauti Very dry (usually glauti are meat and are juicy because of meat fat), but with mushroom some other technique could have been used. The sauce was so little that we couldnt make it work with it. Parsi Fish Curry: Too coriander flavored. Overwhelmed whole dish. The sauce on top was good. Bhuna Murgh was very delicious, very juicy. We did not get a chance to eat here, so this review is based solely on the service we received from the host staff. We arrived about a month ago on a rainy evening and wanted to support a local business. We were not aware of their table reservation policy. When we entered the restaurant, there was only one table occupied inside and another table outside with a family, despite the cold weather. We asked the two staff members at the front if a table for four was available. They looked at each other in confusion, and one of them immediately asked, quite bluntly, if we had a reservation. The tone was unwelcoming from the start. When we said we did not, we were told they were fully booked and could not accommodate us that evening. Given how empty the restaurant appeared, this response left us confused and disappointed. The interaction created a poor first impression and ultimately left a bad taste. For that reason, we chose not to stay and do not plan to return. read more

I visited Pippal a couple of months ago and tried Chakri Paneer, Malai Kofta, East India Butter Chicken, Bhopali Pulao, and Garlic Naan. Chakri Paneer was excellent (5/5) -- full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Malai Kofta was also outstanding (5/5), rich and well balanced. The East India Butter Chicken was decent (3.5/5); the gravy tasted slightly unusual and a bit heavy -- possibly due to magaj -- which made it less enjoyable for me. Bhopali Pulao was good (3.5/5), nicely spiced. Garlic Naan was perfect (5/5) -- soft, fresh, and well made. One very positive aspect is that they're bringing cuisines from different regions of India, which is refreshing and unique for the area. Overall, a good experience with some standout dishes. We had dinner at Pippal last night and were really disappointed. The bhel was extremely spicy and overly tangy. The paneer dish was chewy and very spicy as well. The soup was so spicy that we couldn't have more than two spoons. The Bhopali rice had many ingredients added, yet somehow lacked any real flavor. Their service staff absolute amazing fantastic professional did everything we asked for. But as everyone else have mentioned food there is bad I mean we didn't even finish what we ordered. I don't care about what they charge it's your restaurant and I choose to come here I will gladly pay what you charge. Don't care about quantity either if I am hungry I will order more food. But taste of food behind horrible. My butter chicken was just bad. Under cooked meat. I couldn't even cut with knife. Lal Maas dish was all bone and no meat. And the meat that was on it was rubbery/chewy. Their naan and beet root roti was nice. But none of their actual dinner entrees were good at all. Never going back. (If negative stars were possible, this would qualify.) If I had the option to give a negative star rating, I would. That is how disappointing and poorly handled our experience was. We had booked in advance to celebrate a special occasion, especially since we've had a very good experience at Pippal's Emeryville location. Unfortunately, this location is in no way comparable. Despite having a prior reservation, we were made to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. Once seated, we ordered drinks, appetizers, and soup for our child. After the soup was served, I asked two different servers for an extra empty bowl, which never arrived. The service throughout the evening was far below what one would expect from a restaurant of this scale. There appeared to be one main server assigned to multiple tables, but his attention was almost entirely focused on a large table next to us, with excessive socializing that was hard to miss. We were rarely checked on, and when we wanted to place additional orders, the server was simply unavailable. The food itself was below average, lacking flavor and depth. While high-end restaurants often lean toward subtle flavors, this went beyond that and was genuinely underwhelming. To make matters worse, we were not even asked if we would like to order dessert -- a basic courtesy that was completely overlooked. This level of food and service is not acceptable for a restaurant positioning itself as high-end, especially given the prices. What was most disappointing is how the situation was handled at the end. As we were leaving, the manager asked about our experience. When we shared our concerns, we were requested--almost insistently--to leave our contact details with the assurance that they would host us to make up for the poor experience. It has now been over three weeks, with no call or message whatsoever. If the management is not prepared to follow through, they should not make promises that give the impression this was a one-off issue they intended to resolve. Dined at Pippal in Dublin for an anniversary dinner with family. The food tasted good and service seemed polished -- we even told the GM we were impressed. Unfortunately, several of us got severely sick within hours, with intense stomach pain and vomiting, and another couple from our group had stomach issues and diarrhea as well. We visited Pippal - Dublin for dinner and overall found the experience mixed. What we liked: The service team (chef, manager, and floor staff) were courteous and responsive, which is why I'm giving 3 stars rather than lower. They were attentive and checked in. The concept is appealing, and the décor/ambience is comfortable for a slightly upscale Indian-dinner outing. What we found less strong / mid‐points: * Our starter "chaat trolley" was acceptable, but one of the items -- a spinach pakoda -- had very hard edges and felt almost like stone. The chef/manager assured us it was made with besan (chickpea flour), but the texture was still uncomfortable, and I'm not sure I'd call it safe for children or for those expecting a lighter, crisp fritter. * The drinks (specifically the ones we tried: "Hawa Mahal" and "Jim Corbett") did not deliver the rich flavour profile I expected from the names. They were underwhelming in terms of depth and character. * The paneer main: The layered paneer itself was good, but the tomato sauce/gravy around it felt under-cooked (the tomato flavour seemed not fully developed) and overall the dish was just "okay". * The malai kofta: The kofta outside texture didn't blend well with the gravy and I suspect it wasn't dipped/soaked long enough for the outer crust to properly integrate with the sauce. The result was less harmonious than we hoped. Bottom line / recommendation for others: If you're going to Pippal for the ambience and service, you'll likely enjoy the evening. If you're going primarily for standout flavours or faultless execution of each dish, be aware there were some misses. You know you have hit rock bottom when the employees tell you how frustrated they are about everything - several things on the menu have never been available, the food is below average, service is crap and the prices are premium. I have been to this place so many times since it opened, it never fails to impress us. Their food and drinks are so amazing but let's not forget to talk about the service, which is also outstanding. Lot of restaurants struggle to keep up with a good customer service but Pippal is doing it. We only hope they continue to serve their customers with their exceptional experience. Very different than our experience at Pippal Emeryville. Couldn't cater to my shellfish allergy. Kept saying we have common kitchen. Almost every medium/upscale restaurant avoids cross contamination in a common kitchen. They said they don't even separate vegetarian from non veg. We had to walk away. read more

I was excited to try Pippal in Dublin which opened up a month or so ago. We have eaten at Rooh, Palo Alto. So expectations were high. Decor, ambience, service, all were good. But the place fails badly with their food or more specifically, how their dishes are presented as regional Indian but are definitely not. If Goan Crab has a dominant lemongrass flavor, that is a problem. Coconut expected, lemongrass never. Tang was there but the balancing sweetness was missing. Dish itself was just ok but why call it Goan? The Assami veggies on the other hand should probably have lemongrass but is that from Assam or is it more Malay? Siddu intrigued us - never had it before. Supposed to have walnuts in the filling per the menu - could not detect a trace. The Mushroom Galouti was nice as was the Paththar ke Kebab. Had always heard about Parsi Patra ni Machhi(Parsi Fish)...well, I dont think it is supposed to be this bland, having studied recipes beforehand. Please don't get me started on portions, I should have known before heading to Pippal. I chose to take my family to an ambience-rich restaurant, but expected much more. To do justice to the richness of regional Indian fare that is poorly represented at run-of-the-mill Indian restaurants and at these prices, you have to be WAY better in the food department. What an amazing place! Went here for cocktails and appetizers. I had the papadum, chakri paneer, and chicken tikka trio. All were excellent but the paneer in particular was so subtle and complex that it really stood out. This is a level above any of the other Indian restaurants around here. The cocktails were extremely well balanced and crafted. This is high end cocktail bar quality and high end food as well. Really looking forward to exploring the menu more next time. read more

We were a group of 6 adults who went last night to celebrate a specific thing. We were excited about Pippal as it is one of two fine dining Indian places near Pleasanton/Dublin. We ordered three types of appetizers and three kinds of cocktails - the Andhra chicken fry had zero flavor - truly zero. The arbi kebab was again a disappointment, the prawn pepper fry was again no value for the money and the siddu was so-so. Out of the three cocktails, only the Mysore punch (Mezcal based) had a taste of alcohol and the others were plain mocktails with a huge ice cube taking over most of the glass - so extremely expensive cocktail and low value for the money. The main course - ordered Laal Maas and East Indian chicken curry - Laal Maas was an extremely mushy piece of meat on bone - not sure where the goat meat is from, as in which part of the animal as it clearly did not feel like real meat. The chicken curry was three extremely tiny pieces with little chicken on it. A.total failure as a dish. We also ordered a mushroom galouti which was the only saving grace with its decent flavor. We decided not to even ask them for their dessert menu as we had enough of the restaurant. The service was top notch, so the one star is totally for the service. The ambience is pretty plain and boring - nothing out of the ordinary for a cookie cutter fine dining restaurant. I don't think I will go there again unless I hear about some major changes but feel free to go and burn through some money if that's your thing. read more
