It was one of those days from hell. I just worked 12 hours straight and I was feeling exhausted,…read morehungry and just looking forward to going home. So around 8pm on a Thursday night, my wife forwarded a text from my tenant that water is backing up in the basement. Freaking great.. I go straight from work without tools and in my office clothes - I'm ill equipped. Forgetting I used Johnny Drain before I do a yelp search for "drain clogs" and call some chuckle head with nearly 100 reviews from Yelpers with no friends and less than 5 reviews each. I'm suspect, but kinda desperate. The guy on the phone chuckles a bit and says "oh you want me tonight? that will be $485". Um, what? How much for tomorrow? "$285". Yeah, NO thanks. I remember I used Johnny Drain before when my tenant's kids thought it would be fun to flush momma's swimsuit down the toilet. I call him and he gets down to business with a much more down to earth price and says he can be at my door in 45 min. SOLD. He gets there, brings in his big electric snake (auger), opens the main and pulls out a large wad of paper towels (Bounty, the quicker picker upper!), runs the snake through as I watch the high tide subside! Johnny is professional, responded and was at my door within an hour of calling and works fast! You can try those discount places that charge you that discount price for every hole they stick their snake into whether it needs it or not (sink - ca-ching, toilet - ca-ching, sewer main - ca-ching.. then don't forget taxes and fees) or give Johnny a call where he gives you a set reasonable price, then takes care of business. Seems like a no brainer.

From the moment I initially explained the situation to Adam, he was able to clearly articulate what the cause was, find the issue, and tackle the problem. I could immediately tell he's very knowledgeable and experienced in his craft. Overall, the entire process was also quite smooth and convenient. Some places charge an exorbitant fee to just send someone out to provide an estimate. Adam on the other hand, is able to provide a free estimate through text so you know what to expect prior to scheduling an appointment. It took about 2 hours for them to fix the leak and they even cleaned up whatever debris was created from the job! If I ever have another heating issue in the future, I know who to call on. I highly recommend Ajax plumbing!

We had an amazing experience with Angelo and Tina at Hydraulic Mechanical. If you find them, you…read morecan stop you searching, bc you will come back and hire them. Gas work is highly regulated and complicated in NYC. You need a good licensed plumber that can take good care of you as only they have the insight to the entire process with DOB and ConEdison. Here's what's good about them. 1.The plumber Angelo is a truly professional and knows way more than other plumbers. He not only knows the gas systems of different kinds and regulations quite well. He did a great job and also corrected the previous mistakes the other plumbers made. 2.Angelo was very honest, transparent, and trustworthy. In general, gas work isn't cheap. However, they gave us a very reasonable price and didn't charge for more than you need. (To the contrary, when we were searching, some OTHER plumber tried to rip us off for more than $20,000 by threatening us with unrelated regulations). Angelo was also generous enough to teach us simple fixes to address the minor issues that don't need a licensed plumber. 3.Angelo and his fellow workers are very passionate about their work and they loved their job. They went extra miles to check other issues and gave you tons of advice. They don't charge for anything that is outside you gas work scope. 4.Tina plays an important role in dealing with DOB and ConEdison. DOB and ConEdison often try to give you a hard time and being very inefficient. In a case of an emergency, this is a big deal. But Tina will fight along with you as a team. And together we had successfully overturned ConEdison's challenge and had the gas turned on in just a few days. Also, Angelo also plays an important role in dealing with them as well. 5.Both Tina and Angelo were highly responsive and available. After the gas work was done, there were about 3 weeks time to finish the inspection, paper work, etc to have DOB and ConEdison to close their cases. And they were always there for you for the followups. We think Angelo and Tina are great and we are happy to hire them again for the future gas work!

I had a simple clog in my bathroom sink which led to him putting a hole in a pipe. Hector acknowledged his mistake also by saying the pipes are old. Even if they are old they were perfectly fine until he came. Hector caused a leak from the pipe he broke that caused water to leak downstairs. First Village Plumbing wanted to charge me again for a problem that their worker caused. I told them I wasn't paying for anything because Hector damaged the pipe so they agreed. It took Hector almost 2 weeks to come back he had a million excuses to why he kept missing the appointments. Finally Hector came back and caused more damage now I have a leak in my bathroom and my kitchen. I asked Village Plumbing to send someone else because obviously Hector didn't know what he was doing. They refused and said we had an issue before Hector came. What! Please stay away from Village Plumbing. I regret ever calling them. They are the worse!
