a bowling alley with bowling balls and a pin
    Andy L.

Pinz is probably the best thing to happen for the Hampshire mall. It definitely brings some life into something quite dead. They have small arcade area right before the bowling area which is always cool to walk around in. I don't go bowling that often but I feel like the bowling prices per game were a bit more expensive than an usual bowling alley. The place itself just has a modern vibe to it which I like. As for the bowling aspect, the lanes seem kind of weird. It seems a bit smaller usual and doesn't seem conpletely flat but somehow, it made it seem less likely to get a gutter ball but at the same time, also made it hard to get strikes. SERVICE (for the drinks): 8/10 EXPERIENCE: 7/10

If I could give absolute zero stars I would. This review is well worth the read. Came here for bowling, we were given shoes that were falling apart and not even usable. Once we got to the lanes the stopper on our lane was broken and the balls were coming out way too fast. My boyfriend had to stop the ball while his 2 year old niece was going to grab one and it made his knuckle start swelling instantly. The dumb ass that was walking around taking orders came over to us to ask how things were going and all we did was say how the stopper was broken and had her observe how fast they were coming out and that his knuckle was swollen, she was not given attitude; she in turn said with super attitude "you can take that up with a manager not someone like me" rolled her eyes and walked away. Why she had to respond like that who the fuck knows. I work in customer service and she was the absolute epitome of what not to be. My boyfriend went over to the front desk and told the manager about the lane situation and how if it was his nieces hand it would've been shattered, the manager without question understood the concern and issued a full refund. We were only 5 frames in and we stopped bowling. The waitress came over for the first time since giving us attitude and dropped the receipt, my boyfriend said right then he was not paying for that and we were leaving. The manager had heard this since he came over to see the lane issue and had no problem with us not paying. The pitcher was still half full and he clearly knows how to treat customers once they're already upset. We made it about 5 steps out into the mall and the waitress came FOLLOWING US OUT confronting us about the $17 pitcher and asked if we were the table that just walked out without paying, again with major attitude and my boyfriend responded with "yeah I'm not paying for that" she immediately got loud with us and started an argument in the middle of the mall, and said "you have no looks to be talking like that" to which I got involved and started getting loud back because who the fuck are you? She continued to scream in our faces until 2 of her coworkers came out to separate her from us and apologize for her actions. Which didn't solve anything because she continued to scream at us. I work at a store in customer service where people steal HUNDREDS of dollars of product. We are not ever allowed to follow a customer out let alone cause a scene under any circumstance. I've never been treated so poorly, she better get fired after this. Even the manager came out to tell her this was already taken care of. So her actions were completely unnecessary. We were planning on spending quite the amount of money here until the ass hole customer service had to kick in and it turmoiled our whole experience. If you ever want to go bowling do yourself a favor and go to AMF, shaker bowl, or round 1; you'll be guaranteed to have a better experience than this sad ass establishment. Not to mention this was on Father's Day and my boyfriends first fathers day.

Most of what I experianced has been summed up in previous reviews. But, here we go again: Loud. The sound booms and reflects off hard surfaces. The music in the bar area is turned up high, causing background conversation to swell. The whole experience is more that of a pep-rally than a dinner out. Better volume and some well placed acoustic treatments would go far here. It is nearly painful to walk in through the game room. The volume on all the consoles is deafening. The food. It was OK. But, JUST ok. The quality and presentation were basic. Most of the food had very little spice. The mild buffalo wings were pretty mild... Not too shocking, tho they were described as "hotter than the usual mild wings." Vegetables were cooked frozen veggies. Nothing seasonal, local, or inspiring. It certainly wasn't the worst food ever, but honestly when the best I can say is that I can eat it, it's not the greatest, either. I imagine a big Sysco truck pulls up there a few times a week. Please please please stop putting straws in water glasses by default. If someone orders it with a straw, or asks for one after, sure, give it to them... But that's just wasteful and environmentally unconscionable. The bowling. We didn't get to. We had actually headed over to bowl, more than anything, but when we got there the whole alley had been booked for a private party, and wasn't going to be free. I had seen a face book ad that they had special prices on bowling on Wednesday nights, so we were looking forward to it. We tried to wait it out in the bar, and get some food, but we lost interest after the whole experience. The Help: This was the best part of the whole trip. We were greeted warmly, and each staff member we had the chance to interact with was lovely. Front of the house is doing it well. And in a place like this, I'd say that's no easy thing. Overall it was about $40 for an order of wings, a stirfry, a basket of tots, and a cider. Not too terrible... But, I'd be happy if the food were a bit better for that cost.

One of the many games in the arcade.

The place is beautiful and very clean. The staff is friendly and the food is surprisingly good. I did not hit the bar. The Bowling aspect of the place needs some help. The computers are off so if you hit a pin that hits another you only get counted for the first. It's not an improvement on the old invention. They have some great games for all ages and the prises are not all horrible but like many places make you spend $200 on games to get enough points to buys something at Target for $20. Of course Target is literally down the hall from this place so play for fun then go buy the RC helicopter after and tell your kid he/she won. I did.

    Really nice kids menu!!! Lol

I think it is a great addition to the Hadley mall scene and a great place to grab some beers and bites before a movie.

Rented some banger skates and discovered it's like riding a bike, you never forget how. Made a few loops and they started playing some old 90's alternative rock on the sound system. Awesome. The only negative was I was hoping to play some Golden Axe on the vintage cabinet I remember they had. I was hoping they still had it but alas, it was gone. I heard an Italian Pizza Man absconded with it by winning craploads of prize tickets. I rate the experience at 9/10 Gaias Cradles

Management referenced a 30-second interaction, during that time I was clearly managing an agitated baby and verbally stated multiple times that I had already being spoken to rudely. Not addressing the same rule more than ONCE mind you. That should have prompted staff to stop and assess the situation instead of continuing to escalate it. I refuse to not support my child ( 5, 4 and 20 month old) while they are skating for the first time, nor will I allow my children to sit and cry in public without support. When I picked up my 20 month old during an intense emotional episode, I was not skating. I had just exited the rink and was returning to the bench. I clearly stated this and indicated I had literally picked her up 6 seconds, barley getting her to my chest before he barreled around the corner to approached, make several abrupt remarks, and left without any attempt at respectful or professional/personable communication. This place has been garbage for over 7 years!!! I would not recommend this establishment in Hadley Massachusetts. We are a family of five (two adults, two children ages 2-5, and a 1.5-year-old). We rented two pairs of skates at a cost exceeding $70. During our visit, staff repeatedly confronted us in a manner that felt unnecessarily confrontational and lacked professionalism. I was first approached for holding my 1.5-year-old while skating, which I understand may be against policy; however, this was my first time skating with young children, and the interaction was handled poorly. On another occasion, my fiancé attempted to cross the center line briefly to assist me while I was managing both a toddler and a young child. There were no skaters nearby at the time, yet he was again confronted by the same employee. In the carpeted area, I picked up my crying child, and within seconds was approached and instructed to put her down because I was wearing skates. The delivery of these instructions was abrupt and lacked any empathy or discretion. Additionally, the skates provided for my child were visibly worn and in poor condition. The Velcro no longer functioned properly, a concern that was verbally acknowledged by a staff member while adjusting them. Despite advertising as a family-friendly venue, our experience did not reflect that claim. This facility may be more suitable for experienced skaters rather than families with young children. We were offered free lessons for the kids and still, we denied them for lack of empathy and confrontational approach. Owner tries to argue every negative review. Your place is old, your skates are unsafe and your staff is unbearably disrespectful to parents, and according to reviews, your summer camp kids hate it too. Response from the owner or manager Hello Kristie, thank you for taking time to write a review. Although a direct conversation, while you were in the facility, would be more productive and helpful, we always appreciate feedback. It is unfortunate that you found simple instruction, on serious safety concern, "abrupt." The risk of falling or dropping a child from four or five feet in the air, while you are on skates, is never taken lightly. The fact you had to be reminded multiple times demonstrates your lack of understanding. I encountered you only once directly, for all of 30 seconds, and you were flippant and arogant, arguing about holding your child while you were on skates. Safety should never be taken lightly. The rest of your commentary is inflamatory and unwaranted. And yes, $70 for five admissions and two rentals is accurate. I challenge you to find a better value for an afternoon with the family. Our offer of free skating lessons was genuine and an attempt to give your family a chance to further enjoy skating. I'm not sure what your reference is to summer camp; We have none. If you wish to have an honest conversation about your experience, and find a path where I am still willing to help your children with free skating lessons, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to helping you create fun memories with your family. Thank you again for taking time to comment. The owner continues bashing any negative review without taking any accountability for their lack of perfessionalism.

I was genuinely excited about participating in the Holiday Market at Sonny's Place. I toured the grounds with one of their ambassadors, discussed my accessibility needs, and was told they'd help me secure a comfortable setup. I even took the time to alert their team about scam posts on Facebook from people pretending to collect vendor fees--trying to protect their community. Instead of being met with professionalism or gratitude, I was removed as a vendor without explanation. No courtesy call, no clarity, nothing but dismissive behavior from Mackenzie, the person handling vendor relations. After everything I shared and the effort I put in, her response made it clear how poorly these events are managed. To make matters worse, the building itself is not ADA accessible, which violates the basic principles of ADA Title III. As a full-time wheelchair user, that alone speaks volumes. Equal access should never be an afterthought. I came in with good faith, ready to create something beautiful for families and children. Instead, I left disappointed, stressed, and honestly shocked at how little care was given to accessibility or communication. It was founded by Matt Snow, his wife Shelly Bansal-Snow, and longtime friend Chris "Crit" Crone. Matt has worked in technology for his entire career and has worked for various start up companies focused on ecommerce and analytics. He is also a huge fan of pinball and retro arcade games and had a longtime dream of opening his very own classic arcade. Matt and his partners set up their arcade at the Norwood Commerce Center: a 165-year-old historic mill complex that now operates as a multipurpose campus with multiple tenants. The arcade was a success and opened the door for franchising possibilities. A second location (owned and operated by Shelly's brother Aash Bansal) opened in Bloomfield (NJ) in November 2024, a third opened at Thornes Marketplace in Northampton the same month, and a fourth is scheduled to open soon in Suffield (CT). Each location features classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, modern gaming consoles, racing games, rail shooter games, skee-ball, foosball, bubble hockey, air hockey, arcade basketball, Dance Dance Revolution, and even Guitar Hero Arcade. My sons and I recently visited Hometown's Northampton location while we were in town for the day. It is located in the lower level of the historic Thornes Marketplace. For $20, each customer can have unlimited play. My younger son is only 3 and was granted free admission, which is just as well because he is rather short and has trouble reaching the controls on most arcade games. The arcade has an excellent selection of classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, and much more! I thought that it was pretty cool that they also have modern gaming consoles hooked up to TV sets: something that you don't see too often at arcades. Hometown also carries a small selection of snacks, bags of chips, cans of soda, and bottled water. While I wouldn't exactly call Hometown an "arcade bar" (something that owner Matt Snow hopes to change in the future), they do offer cans of "Hometown Arcade Ale" (American Pale Ale) which is brewed exclusively for the Northampton location by Progression Brewing Company who are right down the street. I enjoyed a can while playing some games; it was a nice, easy-drinking pale ale. We ended up staying at the arcade for two hours and had a blast the whole time. It's fun for the whole family. We look forward to returning to Hometown Arcade in Northampton (or perhaps one of their other locations) in the future!
