It was founded by Matt Snow, his wife Shelly Bansal-Snow, and longtime friend Chris "Crit" Crone. Matt has worked in technology for his entire career and has worked for various start up companies focused on ecommerce and analytics. He is also a huge fan of pinball and retro arcade games and had a longtime dream of opening his very own classic arcade. Matt and his partners set up their arcade at the Norwood Commerce Center: a 165-year-old historic mill complex that now operates as a multipurpose campus with multiple tenants. The arcade was a success and opened the door for franchising possibilities. A second location (owned and operated by Shelly's brother Aash Bansal) opened in Bloomfield (NJ) in November 2024, a third opened at Thornes Marketplace in Northampton the same month, and a fourth is scheduled to open soon in Suffield (CT). Each location features classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, modern gaming consoles, racing games, rail shooter games, skee-ball, foosball, bubble hockey, air hockey, arcade basketball, Dance Dance Revolution, and even Guitar Hero Arcade. My sons and I recently visited Hometown's Northampton location while we were in town for the day. It is located in the lower level of the historic Thornes Marketplace. For $20, each customer can have unlimited play. My younger son is only 3 and was granted free admission, which is just as well because he is rather short and has trouble reaching the controls on most arcade games. The arcade has an excellent selection of classic arcade cabinets, pinball machines, and much more! I thought that it was pretty cool that they also have modern gaming consoles hooked up to TV sets: something that you don't see too often at arcades. Hometown also carries a small selection of snacks, bags of chips, cans of soda, and bottled water. While I wouldn't exactly call Hometown an "arcade bar" (something that owner Matt Snow hopes to change in the future), they do offer cans of "Hometown Arcade Ale" (American Pale Ale) which is brewed exclusively for the Northampton location by Progression Brewing Company who are right down the street. I enjoyed a can while playing some games; it was a nice, easy-drinking pale ale. We ended up staying at the arcade for two hours and had a blast the whole time. It's fun for the whole family. We look forward to returning to Hometown Arcade in Northampton (or perhaps one of their other locations) in the future!

The night we finally went was for Zelda night. Knowing my boyfriend, we all know he mah be the biggest Zelda fan in western Massachusetts so obviously we had to go! They had one tabletop Zelda game in the facility, it would have been nice to have a few of them so more of us could play/immerse in the Zelda night. They also had Mario playing on the walls which threw me off a bit. There were free stickers all over the bar along with some "rupees" which was a cute touch. It was pretty easy to order the drinks and food, and the staff behind the counter were all very nice. We tried 2/3 drinks and enjoyed both of them. Two food options were made, Hearty Monster Rice Balls, and Meat Pies. The rice balls were honestly pretty good, nothing fancy but good. The Meat Pies filling was good, but the entirety of it was pretty greasy and oily which was a little disappointing. I do hope they do another Zelda night and offer more food options. Came on a Wednesday afternoon, with no idea of what to expect. We've never been here before, and we…read morewere excited to see what they had. We signed up our 7 yr. Old for the unlimited $60 admission. Shortly after being inside and checking out the attractions we noticed there was nobody around to run about five attractions, including the snack bar. Only two people were staffed for the whole place. We were pissed because we just paid $60, and one of the guys said we had to wait for other staff to arrive hours later to run the rest of the rides. Three of the six bumper cars were broke, the rock climbing area was closed, the rope skywalk was closed, and one of the trampoline slam dunk hoops was broke. A couple hours later more staff showed up, and opened the rock climbing area. It was a decent time, but kind of disappointing. I would be so pissed if we paid $500 for a birthday party, and only two staff were on hand, and a bunch of stuff was closed. Maybe a good time to go is around 2-3 when more staff shows up, but then it's more crowded.

The masking units that cover the pinsetters are see-through, meaning you can watch the original equipment doing its job, which is pretty unique. The bar was decent, the service was curt but not rude or overly obsequious. The bowling alley itself is like a working museum with the original machines and the decoration going back to the turn of the century, some beautiful woodwork, and the patio is a delight. Really hope this place sees more business, the building could use a little TLC, but it's unlike anything I've seen.

I've played a lot of golf courses, but Edgewood feels more like a post-apocalyptic pasture than a…read moremaintained facility. The fairways are dry, brittle, and full of clover -- like someone forgot this was supposed to be a golf course and not a bee sanctuary. The rough is so littered with lawn clippings it felt like we were golfing through a hay bale. Lose your ball? Good luck -- it's basically camouflaged in debris. Tee boxes? Some were so torn up I thought maybe we were supposed to tee off from the parking lot. One even had a full goose poop collection on display -- truly a wildlife refuge. And despite everything being bone dry, it's still cart-path-only on several holes year-round. Why? Who knows. Maybe the course just enjoys making you hike. The greens were actually decent, which was shocking -- like finding a perfectly iced cupcake in a dumpster. But by far the worst part was the staff. My friend and I were first-time players here, unsure where one tee box was, and briefly parked near it in the rough. Instead of offering directions or even basic decency, a man identifying himself as the "superintendent" yelled at us from across the road -- from inside his truck -- like we had just committed a federal crime. Maybe if they had better directions on the course as to where the next the next tee box is we wouldn't have had to do a circle Honestly, the interaction made sense; the fact the head greenskeeper was leaving at 10AM, because the entire course was poorly maintained. Joshua Lennie needs to get his priorities straight In short: Edgewood offers dried-up fairways, clippings galore, poop-laced tee boxes, and a warm welcome from a guy who thinks kindness is optional.
