We are responding to Mckinzie Coffee.. this is her wedding, looks like a great time by all.
I would urge McKenizie Coffee to exercise extreme caution and desist from making defamatory statements that could result in legal action against her. I encourage her to review the libel laws in the state of Oregon especially because she is making untrue statements of fact with regard to matters for which she knows not.
The Coffee wedding hired two separate alcohol vendors for a party of, at most 150 people. She hired one to provide hard liquor and the other to provide beer. We were the beer vendor. Additionally, her parents, on their own, bought 4-5 cases of red wine and 4-5 cases of white wine which they asked us, as beer vendors, to serve to their relatively small wedding.
Miss Coffee constantly wanted to revise and retrade with us. When we would settle upon a menu and quantity, she would ask to renegotiate the contract, essentially always trying to get more for less. This even included the start time which they wanted to move back from the agreed upon 4PM start-time to 3PM. We obliged without extra charge. After already giving them a huge discount off our normal catering price.
Despite her constant attempts to renegotiate the contract after reaching agreement, the final iteration was as follows. We would be providing 4 beer choices and no more than a total of 300 servings of beer. However, we ended up bringing more that what they paid for, which still was not "good enough" for her. We had more than enough keg volume to meet our contractual obligation. The contract price was $2,150
The attendees at this wedding, while having a wonderful time, were a heavy alcohol consuming crowd. After several hours of consumption, we were concerned about the safety of the guests and the public at large. As licensed alcohol providers, it is our obligation to refuse to serve alcohol to people who are beginning to exhibit signs of alcohol intoxication. The majority of the wedding guests were beginning to show signs of intoxication, so we had to stop serving them drinks. We served a little over 300 beers, plus wine that the Coffee's asked us to serve on their behalf, before we made the legal determination to refuse to serve further.
In fact, the woman that was hired to serve hard liquor, left the wedding early because she was witnessing the same signs of guest intoxication. Being in a very isolated part of Newberg about 6 miles from the nearest traffic light, we felt unsafe as well, wanting to make sure the guest wouldn't be driving after the Coffee's on their own continued to serve their own adult beverages.
We too, stopped serving, and departed before the wedding was through. Despite our discontinued beer service, the guests had continued access to hard liquor (left at the serving table); cases of wine, which the Coffee's took back as it was what they bought on their own; and additional cases of beer which wedding party attendees bought and provided separately.
We were compelled to write this detailed response to set the record straight and protect our hard-earned, and well-deserved reputation, for being responsible, professional and friendly. We were disheartened and saddened by a bride, whose guests enjoyed a beautiful night, that decided to besmirch her vendor, whose only concern was meeting our contractual obligation while complying with Oregon law. We achieved both those ends.
Not only did the guest and the also the bride and groom thank us over and over again for a wonderful night and great service.. We were approached by miss Coffee the following day with screaming and not stop bickering for over 2.5 hrs as we were having trailer issues . read more
