I've eaten at the Pinocchio's near Fredrick and the food is delicious but very lax with Covid19 protection, letting people in without masks and sign on front door saying if you're fearful don't come in. Great service, great food. First of all, they let us in last night 15 minutes before they close. We were of course doubtful they would be willing to accommodate us- two tired on-the-road truckers. Surprisingly, without hesitation and with smile they led us to a table and nicely served us. I had Minestrone soup, spicy ravioli and "best of both worlds", my partner ordered meatballs spaghetti. Yes, they let us order anything from the menu no BUTS just because it was closing time. The dishes were delicious, perfect size servings. If I live in Longmont, I would frequent this place! Nice place at the end of a shopping center, we were greeted right away and seated. Place was about 75% full on a Tuesday. Nice atmosphere and decorations inside. Friendly waitress who took our drink order right away, and then took our order shortly after. I had spaghetti with sausage, wife ordered chicken parmigiana and it was very good, spaghetti was average. Daughter ordered spaghetti, said it was good. My meal was good, I'm a picky Italian food eater and I thought it was good. Not the greatest but solid Italian more than expected in Colorado. We also ordered the pepperoni rolls, which most of us liked. Salads were good. All in all it was good. I think 4 stars is fair. read more

Pinocchio's is your typical red-and-white checkered table cloth Italian-American joint. That is to say, it is not what I personally look for in an Italian restaurant. It has lots of saucy ravioli dishes, lasagna, Pillsbury-esque garlic bread, etc. Everything is very mediocre. If the price point was just a bit lower, it might merit more visits, because there's something to say for a neighborhood place where you can pop in and get a cheap meal on those nights you don't feel like cooking. (And the place IS rather quaint.) But honestly I'd rather just open jar of tomato sauce and make the spaghetti myself. If you really like family-style Italian-American restaurants, you may want to give this place a try. read more

Pinocchio's is a cookie cutter red sauce sort of Italian restaurant. The most interesting thing about this place is it's inconsistency. My last meal I had the veal parmigiana with a spinach salad and pesto bread to start. The spinach salad was delicious, with apples and goat cheese. And the pesto bread was enjoyable. But then my main entrée was entirely bland - the red sauce on the side of spaghetti had me going for the salt and pepper immediately. The meat was okay - certainly nothing to write home about. My daughter got pasta with butter and cheese, and the pasta was comically overcooked - you might think that was just something they did for kids dishes yet my spaghetti was overcooked as well. Pinocchio is a reasonable place for a family meal on a Saturday night, but don't come in here expecting anything groundbreaking. In a town notable for its bad Italian, this place leads the pack... barely. read more

Pinocchio's is a great place if you've never had really good Italian Food. I arrived alone and sat at the bar. No bartender was working. I had to ask the host for someone to serve me. While I was sitting at the bar, 4-5 servers came by to make drinks or enter their orders on the computer. Not one asked if they could get me anything. Finally I asked the host to summon a waiter. A young man appeared who said, I'll take your order, but I'm going home." I had a glass of Chianti. Sweet and unpleasant. I ordered Pinocchio's Spaghetti. It came with sliced sausage and too many red and green peppers in a very bland spaghetti sauce. Breadsticks were included, but they never showed up. I started with a forgettable Caesar Salad. Unforgettable because the dressing was poured over wet lettuce. Thus making the entire salad watery. I switched from the unwelcome Chianti to a Super Tuscan which was much better. I had carrot cake and decaf coffee for dessert. Carrot Cake was like the rest of Pinocchio's. Mediocre at best! Will I go back. No! I can make a better Spaghetti and sausage at home using Classico Spaghetti Sauce. Note: Pinocchio's was very busy and is a popular place. If you're into very mediocre Italian Food. (As in no garlic.) You'll love this place. Oh, they do breakfast on weekends. Will I try that? Not a chance. read more

I've never had a complaint about their food. The wait staff, on the other hand, have vacillated wildly in the whole time I've gone here. Some have been great, but a number have been horrible. I do return for the food, however, and when the waiter we have can actually get the food to us when it's still hot, it's amazing. I've had the good luck of bringing out of town guests on a 'good waiter' day and everyone in the party of eight was very happy with their food. I'm not really into their breads, but every pasta dish I've had here has been really good. I like the choices they have with their salads. I've actually never had a red sauce here (laughs at the reviews below which call this a 'red sauce' restaurant) loved the piccata, their gnocchi was lovely with perfect texture, and there was a house special that I loved. The desserts haven't carried quite as well from their old Main Street site to here, but the Italian lemon cake has never failed me. read more

Revised Review: Since I posted the 5-star review the place has undergone some changes. Their prices have gone up by nearly two dollars on each menu item, they've started charging for things they didn't before, and the food quality has slipped tremendously. A couple of weeks ago we visited and had a server who came off as the worst stereotype of a used car salesman, inattentive and brusque. Last week we had the same waiter and were informed that he was in fact the manager. The bathrooms are no longer reliably clean, and overall I feel like I've lost a friend. I used to love this place, it used to be a charming place that had little touches that bespoke love on the part of the owners... now it's just someone trying to sell the cheapest food possible for the best possible cash. I'm pretty surprised by the poor reviews written on this place after my first visit here for lunch today. We only come up to Longmont to have lunch with my boyfriend's grandmother, so we're always on the hunt for something tasty. We started off with the toasted ravioli as an appetizer, which was absolutely incredible. Nothing too spicy, but still a nice kick. The tomato cream sauce it was in was also delicious, I couldn't seem to scoop enough onto my share. For lunch, we all got calzones. The salad was fresh and delicious, and the breadstick that accompanied it was deliciously buttery. When the calzone came out, I was pleasantly surprised as many times you get a calzone that is just far too large for any human being to eat. These were reasonably sized, but still provided enough for two meals. At a $9 price point, I consider that quite a deal. The ingredients were fresh, but they didn't get too carried away with filling it to the brim like some italian places tend to do. We grabbed a few desserts to go (chocolate fudge cake and carrot cake), and both were moist and a nice treat for later in the evening. I like to keep a bit of perspective when reviewing restaurants so far out of the Denver area, because you're not going to get a perfect meal this far out of the suburbs. We had absolutely no problems with service, as our waitress was as sweet as can be. Can you imagine how hard it is to find decent help in the Longmont area? Come on now, have a little sense. If you want 5 star service, make the drive downtown, otherwise, make some concessions for the convenience. read more

I want to love this place, but a vindictive server ruined it for me. My family comes here partially because there are gluten-free options, and we need to eat gluten-free due to celiac disease. Combine a strict medical diet and a petty, controlling server and you get a disaster. To be clear, I have loved the food here, pretty consistently, even with the slightly high prices. It's really good, satisfying Italian food. The ambience is also nice, with thoughful interior design and a quiet enough atmosphere to foster group conversation. My problem is a certain older female server with long black hair. I was distracted with a(n actually important) text conversation on my phone when she arrived to take our orders, but instead of taking an order from any of the people who were very much ready (and had been for a while) and were making eye contact with her, she stood and passive-aggressively stared at me as I texted, trying to force me by sheer willpower to look at her. As I said, I was attending to something worrying and didn't respond, and so she eventually gave up and started taking orders from the rest of the table - but she did not forget my "crime". When one of my family members asked about whether a certain dish was gluten-free, she stared at *me* and aggressively directed her words at me, even though someone else had asked. It was so very bizarre. And I always make a point of being polite and saying please and thank you to waitstaff, because I know what a pain their job can be. It's not like I'm some entitled creep who yells at servers or blames them for things beyond their control. I simply didn't pay full attention to her exactly when she demanded it (I've NEVER had a server behave like this before - it was bewildering). For the entire following week after eating at this restaurant I had raging diarrhea, of the variety caused by eating a plate full of gluten. Hmm, I wonder what happened? If I had been a small child or elderly person, I could have ended up in the hospital with dehydration. Gluten-free is not a joke, and it is not a "fad diet". If a restaurant cannot educate its servers on the importance of making sure gluten-free is REALLY gluten-free, I will make sure to avoid it at all costs. Last Sunday our family decided to dine here for dinner. We have generally been impressed with their food and even had them cater an 80th birthday party for my Step Dad with their great lasagna a few years back. Our experience last Sunday was a complete let down. Three of us ordered the Pinocchio's Ravioli and to say it was salty is the understatement of the year. My daughter loves salt and normally salts everything. Even she was complaining. My wife ordered Chicken Ti Amo and it was also a saltfest gone bad. Whoever is cooking there needs to back down on the salt. Our server was clearly in a rush and kept pushing us through each course of the meal. We were really disappointed. I was in a hurry so I stopped in for takeout for lunch. I asked for an eggplant parm sandwich and they did not offer that. So I settled for the eggplant dinner for $13.95 Not a cheap lunch but I was in a hurry. The server asked if I wanted soup or salad so I ordered the soup. I sat at the bar to wait. Did she ask me if I wanted some water while I waited, NOPE. She did place the bill in front of me and it was for over $18. So, the POS had the dinner at $14.95 while the menu read $13.95. Also there was an additional charge of $2 for the soup! You would think when you ask that question the server might mention there is a $2 upcharge for the soup? Ok, I dismissed that and moved on, and to her credit she did take the additional $1 off the bill. So, front of the house FAIL. Perhaps the food will be so good I will forget about all of that? NOPE, the egg parm was ok at best and the spaghetti under it was prepared with very little sauce that was not very flavorful to begin with. Yes, I did say spaghetti. That most moribund of pastas in a world of great options. The minestrone soup was terrible. So glad I paid two more bucks for it! I would say no flavor but that would have been a positive. Back of the house FAIL. This is plain red checker tablecloth italian (small i) fare served with apathetic service. Maybe it was a just a slow afternoon but I will never know the difference. I don't like to write crummy reviews I really don't. But $17 and change should get a customer a decent lunch with a decent attitude. read more

We were expecting a pizza joint and were pleasantly surprised to find all the pasta dishes. We had toasted raviolis in a sundried tomato garlic cream sauce for an appetizer. Highly recommend this. I had spaghetti with spicy sausage which wasn't as good as the appetizer but still good and came with a caesar salad. My wife had the spinach salad for her main course. It was good, not outstanding. I'm giving Pinnichios 5 stars because I saw lots of other people really enjoying their meal. Unfortunately I left feeling totally dissatisfied. I ordered the rocket salad and fettuccini Alfredo which the menu said same with chicken and broccoli. The rocket had zero arugula in ... Where I come from Rocket = Arugula. The Alfredo sauce was thin, very garlicky and obviously missing a lot of cheese as I had to put salt on the entrée. The experience was not helped the incompetent obsequious waiter that I had. I think he left the entrée sitting while he chatted up old friends at other tables then when he went to grab he he stuck it in the micro wave for a bit. The plate was cold but food was hot. I ended up filling my self up on their delicious bread with the predictable and boring balsamic dunk beneath an ocean of olive oil. I suggest they try a tapenade for a change. As I said I'll come back and try their red sauce just to give them a fair try but so far not so good. read more

I'm really surprised to see the bad reviews of this restaurant - we've been enjoying Pinnocchio's for years - we stumbled upon them one Friday night, several years back, when they were located on Main St and fell in love. Being Italian, it's tough to find a place that has quality food that isn't laden with sugar, or too pasty, or too bland... I'm happy to say that in all our dining experiences over the last 7 years we've NEVER had anything at Pinnocchio's that wasn't absolutely incredible! Their red sauce is wonderful, but their other sauces are just as good, if not better. The specials are always delicious with perfectly cooked pasta, an amazing blend of textures and flavors. Their lasagna rocks, their meatballs are incredible, their salads are gourmet - no iceberg lettuce, thank you very much, and their desserts are awesome. Their staff knows their stuff, and always has excellent recommendations for wine if you so choose. A little known secret to my family is their amazing weekend breakfast service...come hungry because you will leave STUFFED and still have leftovers to bring home... Pinnocchio's Longmont has a GORGEOUS dining room - full of natural light, but still carrying the feel of being in a small Italian town with checkered tablecloths, candles, fresh flowers...and the staff always looks classy in their simple uniform of white shirt, black trousers, and long black aprons. read more

That being said I will never be eating here again. Last night was my first time to Pinocchio's and being a Friday night I was expecting it to be busier and louder. Much to my surprise it was neither, which made me instantly happy after wandering Pearl St in Boulder for a while and seeing how busy everything was. First thing out was bread sticks, and I love when they are fresh and hot and you can taste the quality. With these you most definitely could. Next was the side salad which I ordered with a balsamic dressing. I was very surprised at the fact that there was no tomatoes on the salad, but not being a tomato fan it made me pretty happy. In their stead, there was some red bell peppers which made the salad different and pretty darn yummy. There's nothing worse than scooting around tomatoes on the plate if you don't like them. I ordered the Pasta Primavera with the shrimp, which was delicious. My boyfriend got the Veal Parmesana which he also really enjoyed. I also ordered a slice of Tiramisu to go, but have yet to try it. All in all, we had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, that food was wonderful, and the restaurant was not overly loud and crazy. That being said, this is not an every day sort of meal. It is on the pricey side so be aware of that. It is not something I think we could spring for very often. read more

I was a little concerned about how the quality of food would be and ordered a Meatball Grinder thinking it was a safe bet no matter what, right? Wrong. We've been to the Longmont location and Firestone location a couple of times, and we can say at least it's pretty consistent. The Longmont location the service is very slow, but it is better in the Firestone location. Bot the food is good, but not great. There is just something missing from pretty much anything we've had, nothing has ever been horrible, just not great - leads me to believe a pretty fair amount of their food comes from per-packaged products. Last time we were there, we had 4 people - two adults and two kids. So we were seated at a small square table that had 4 chairs around it but wasn't big enough really for 4 people to comfortably eat because you couldn't really have more than 1 drink and your plate on the table at the same time; so no water, condiments, bread, etc. Those tables should be only for 3 or less people. Also, the parmesan cheese you have to ask for, and it's that low end comes in a green bottle type that they put in a shaker. Disappointing to say the least. Not that I would avoid this place, but we're still looking for a really good Italian place; and if we do find it we'd be unlikely to ever go back. But in the mean time, it is a place we will on occasions go. read more

The red sauce here is to die for! I really loved it. The ambiance is cute, too, with checked tablecloths, unique salt and pepper shakers at each table, and tea lights. I ordered the cheese raviolis (comes in an orange sauce with sliced chicken) and it was fantastic. I barely finished it. My mom ordered the manicotti and it was scrumptious. I also had the Pinocchio's (bottomless) soda (cranberry, sparkling water, and lime) that got better the more I drank it even though it wasn't alcoholic - the first few drinks seemed bitter, but I enjoyed it more the second glass. read more
