I have always loved Pinks Pizza, and as far as the food, still do. But, the last three times I've dropped in to place a carry out order for a slice at the Heights location, it seems almost torturous for the employees to simply take the order, much less smile or even say hello. The expression on their face almost says "what do you want!?" As if by walking in and saying hello you have somehow crossed an unwritten pizza boundry. It's uncomfortable at best. To top that off, the music is always blaring, as if they so desperately don't want to hear from you, they'd rather make it difficult to carry on a conversation on premise. This has always been around 1 - 2pm, as this is one of my quick grab lunch options. Not exactly prime pizza time. There are chairs and tables on premise, so it's obviously not a call in place only. So why does it always feel like I am inconveniencing them every time I place an order? Just curious. read more

Ok, whaaaaaaaat the deuce, people? Seriously.... I tried so hard to understand what the deal is with their pizza. But it's....it's not good. First off, I fear any place that cuts their pizza into squares, because that's just wrong. (Edited- a ha apparently they don't always do this.) Second, if you can't make a good plain cheese pizza, we can't have a relationship, and theirs had overdone cheese and uninspiring sauce. It was flat, uninspired pizza. I've ordered from Pink's twice now, and after a second *miss* I don't think I will order from them a third time. Tonight the person taking my order had to place me on hold multiple times Once he "was locked out of my order on the computer," requiring me to repeat my information and order. The second time he couldn't figure out how to take my credit card, so I gave up and opted to pay with cash. When my pizza finally arrived I realized they had made a mistake and given me canadian bacon instead of pepperoni (despite me having to repeat my order twice). The crust was also mushy and fell apart when I tried to pick up one of the unevenly cut slices. Next time I'm sticking to Star pizza or the usual chains. read more

I've been in a pizza rut lately. The usual suspects of Candelari's, Star Pizza and New York Pizzeria have failed to entice me, and I've generally been snacking on the frozen deep dish pizzas I picked up from Costco. I had picked up a menu for Pink's the last time I was at Dragon Bowl (how many establishments can I name in this review?), but didn't think much of it given the fact that they are under the same ownership and Dragon Bowl is not exactly known for its deliciousness. Eventually, the pizza lust overcame me, and I found myself frantically scanning the Pink's menu for something appetizing. The menu is overwhelming in the fact that all of the specialty pizzas have 30 or more ingredients on them. It took me several minutes to contemplate each one, mentally figuring whether the flavor combinations sounded like they might hit the mark. In the end, I chose the Bada Bing - prosciutto, bacon, pepperoni, provolone, mozzarella, roma tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms and a red pizza sauce. Bada BING is right! The flavors of this pizza sing, and the proportions of toppings to cheese to sauce to crust is near perfect. The pie is slightly on the salty side, owing to the meats, but in a good way, and balanced nicely with the fresh vegetables and the tang of the sauce. I think this is my new favorite pizza, having soared above the Veggie pizza at Star and a mushroom and sausage pizza from either NY or Candelari's. We also ordered the Deuce that night - goat cheese, mozzarella, spinach, portobello mushrooms, roma tomatoes and garlic, with pesto instead of red sauce. I wanted to substitute ricotta cheese for the portobello mushrooms. Since both are considered premium toppings, I figured it would be fine, but in the end they told me they couldn't substitute but they could add. I'm a little off put by the fact that they couldn't just do an even swap, especially since portobello mushrooms make me gag and a lot of their specialty pizzas include them, but I'll live. The Deuce was decent enough; I thought the pesto tasted just a little bit grassy, and it was nowhere near as tasty as the Bada Bing. We also ordered cheese stix, which apparently are not to be confused with mozzarella stix. Basically, cheese stix are a small cheese pizza with no sauce. Well, actually, it comes with a small thing of ranch dressing. I find the concept disgusting - do people really eat it like that? It turned out okay though because our two-year-old found the cheese stix (without the ranch - I'm not contributing to the high numbers of obese children) quite satisfying, but if you want fried cheese, don't get confused like I did. Overall, a great delivery experience. Time to add Pink's to our speed dial. read more

I'd heard such good things about Pinks, so my expectations were pretty high. I'm glad to say I was not disappointed. I had my doubts when the boyfriend suggested the Santa Monica - cranberries and eggplant? but I trust him and sure enough, the gorgonzola makes it work! Oh YUM! I was also pleased with the turnaround time - most gourmet places take as much time as 30-40 minutes! Pinks - they're on the ball - I think we waited not even 15 minutes! So happy! I tried to decide what I'd order next time, but they all sound so good, I think I'll just let the staff surprise me! While we waited, we watched the guys make the pizzas, and it was a hoot! They really enjoy what they do and take great care to make sure that each slice, even each bite, is perfect! My only disappointment is with the seating - bar stools and a couple of tall tables... eh - not the most comfortable for long term hanging out. This minor hindrance won't stop me from becoming a repeat customer though!! read more

This location seems to put out consistently decent pizza--unlike the Montrose/Midtown location, which is a hot mess. The online ordering system is a big help, and delivery is usually timely. The ingredients taste fresh and the flavor is good, so I'm willing to pay the rather outrageous prices given that we only order pizza every once in a while. I would definitely choose Dolce Vita or other "gourmet" pizza places over Pink's--but they don't deliver. My biggest problem with Pink's overall is SOGGINESS. For this reason, I try to avoid ordering on weekends when the pizza is likely to sit steaming in the box for too long, resulting in wet, floppy crust. Nothing is more annoying than spending $50 on pizza only to have the crust collapse and the toppings fall off when you pick up a slice. read more

Being a pizza lover (I frequent buffets, but don't judge my taste by my actions) I was extremely eggcited to finally go to Pink's. I've heard about it from a couple of people already, and the visit was extremely satisfactory. I definitely was surprised by the location and establishment itself, as I thought it was a place you could dine in (which I guess you could, but nobody was eating there and we had a large group), but everyone was ordering takeout. Right when we walked in the employees were SO friendly, and they just looked like they were having fun. Our orders took a while, but one of the guys offered to keep the pies that were ready warm for us while we waited for the others, and they certainly weren't sheisty with the condiments - which I am a HUGE fan of. *side note* My love for condiments has grown since meeting the man of my dreams, so I hope that when I capitalize and emphasize "HUGE" it can be somewhat of an accurate description of my appreciation for the extras they gave us. We ordered the Bada Bing (slurp slurp) and This Guy. I think I would've liked This Guy more if we hadn't ordered the Bada Bing, but they were similar to me, and Bada Bing won. Our friends ordered the Southwestern, which made my mouth water as well because of the jalapenos. I'll get it next time. Great place, great service and great food. You should pick up the phone and order right now. On price - I think if you split the 16" you can maybe get away with under $10 a person, but I usually overindulge, so I'm adding an extra dollar sign. read more

Haven't actually BEEN to Pink's Pizza. But we had it delivered for the first time this week. My boyfriend and I always get half what I like and half what he likes on a pie. And luckily Pink's has alfredo sauce, so we got our pizza with that instead of marinara. Mmm! One of the best pizza alfredo sauces I've ever had! Unfortunately, the delivery guy got lost once he got into our apartment complex so it took about 10 extra minutes for the pizza to actually get to us (and that was WITH my bf's help)! Oh well. And even though you can order online and therefore directly pick what you want on your pizza, they still messed up on our pie (and on MY HALF too)! Ugh. But it wasn't a big deal. They just put tomatoes on my half when they were supposed to be on my bf's half. They were easy to pick off, luckily. So, once I got over the lost delivery guy "debacle" and the tomato mess-up, I was able to sit down and enjoy all of the pizza goodness! Pink's does make some tasty pies! We'll definitely be ordering from them again but hopefully there won't be any mess-ups next time. read more

While eating a slice of Pink's the other day, I was just thinking about pizza is one of the world's few perfect foods. Regardless of whether it's a Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut (my favorite guilty pleasure) to the great establishments of the east and west coast, pizza is always delicious regardless of price and quality of ingredients. Some variation of it can be adapted for any type of eater and in some parts of the world, it's even considered a vegetable! For the reasons listed above, no pizza review of mine will ever be below three stars-and also why my standards for pizza of Pink's prices are so high. It's certainly very tasty. I got a 12-inch Santa Monica and ate it over three days during Finals week. The combination of toppings (cranberries, artichokes, gorgonzola, prosciutto, you get the idea) worked very well and left me wondering "HOW DO THEY THINK OF THIS STUFF?" The crust was really crispy and had a nice fluffy edge for being thin. The interior of this Pink's was very cool but those stools hurt after twenty minutes of waiting (I did carry-out) so it doesn't seem like a viable option for going out with groups. Maybe this location is geared towards carry out? This is why my review was so low. For carry-out pizza, I will ad-lib and say "The cost is too damn high!" It just wasn't worth the money. I've had pizza from places with comparable concepts and execution that charged about 2/3rds less. And places that charge that much in NYC/Chicago/SF are the stuff of dreams so we're going to keep this fight fair. The cost/slice ratio is too high for it to be an economical choice for groups and they effectively eliminated the option of sitting there with the dinky-but-cool stools and tables. If this pizza were combined with ambiance, I'd still have no problem with the cost. There's also some level of defeat that permeates the whole experience when you realize your food budget for the week ($18 for a 12-inch) has been depleted by a single small pizza. That's not supposed to happen with pizza! This enhances my Yelp review though. Pink's reheats very well even multiple days later. I may be back for the Santa Monica or their ridiculous skateboard sized slices. Look at their website-the scale isn't really that off! I'll probably just be buying the 2 for $12 special at Pizza Hut otherwise. read more

UPDATE: Probably my favorite pizza spot in Houston. I won't say it's the definitive NY style pizza, but these guys are easily the best. The Heights location is also the better one than Shepard, which I've had a mixed experience on. Ingredients are always fresh and they are super quick if you go pick up your pizza rather than have it delivered. If you want something simple, just get pepperoni. If you want something that I request, which they make amazingly: pepperoni, jalapeno, and pineapple. Enjoy! ORIGINAL: Seems like the general consensus is very mixed on this place. For me, I've really liked it each time. Overall, I've tried a few different styles of pizzas here and have liked it. I don't think this place is overhyped, and I'll admit, I've had better pizza. However, for Houston, this is the best I've come across in the Heights area. I don't ask myself, "Why did I eat all that!?!" after. So, thumbs up. Slices are large and ingredients delicious! About as close to NY Style pizza you'll find in Houston. True story. A great combo they make: pepperoni, jalapeno, and pineapple. It sounds like a bizarre combination, but they do it so well. I find the complaints about deliveries a bit unwarranted. With any pizza place, especially non-corporate ones, you're going to get a 25-45min wait. Make your life easier and just go pick up the pizza. It'll be ready in 10-20min max. Pretty chill atmosphere. Not exactly recommended for dining, but just chill out while they finish up your pizza. Support local businesses! Staff is very friendly. Parking is easy. read more

We got a big slice of pizza and with a topping it came to $4.33 with tax. The pizza itself tasted great, but wasn't sure if $4 plus tax was a screaming good deal. I noticed Yelp is offering a 10% off promotion if you check-in, so perhaps I could do that and have a great slice to myself! Ahhh.... I cannot believe I never wrote a review on Pink's Pizza in the Heights. I lived there for a couple years and ate that fantastic pizza almost twice a month. It took leaving the Heights and moving to SoCal to miss what I took for granted. Here I am, sitting behind a desk at high noon lusting over the idea of getting my hands on a Pink's pizza. For you lucky Houstonians, I recommend you give Pink's a try or order another pizza today. It is REALLY great pizza and has a vast menu of creatively arranged ingredents, For example, ingredents such as artichoke, sun dried tomatoes, and cranberries with rosemary chicken or Italian sausage. I call pizza from Pink's "happy pizza" because not only is the customer happy after consuming it, but the employees seem happy "making dough" at Pink's. I was upset cause yesterday was my first time ordering from here (I'd been waiting for weeks to try their pizza) and my family is lame and only wanted pepperoni. Daaaaaaammit! I called in for a pick up and they replied with a surprising ' ten minutes'. It's like... do I get one for them..then get myself one and then regret it for the next 3 days? Pink's is a great local pizzeria. The people who run Pink's definitely understand the social responsibility of creating food that brings people together. Pink's has dynamite toppings and some really well crafted signature combinations. The goat cheese on their This Guy, is a household favorite for red sauce pizza. The first time I picked it up I needed to use two hands. I've never felt a heavier pizza loaded down with so many toppings. The alfredo sauce Double Down combo of chicken/bacon/garlic is our favorite alternate for something more buttery and a bit different. The employees have always been very friendly and accommodating. They even let us buy balls of their dough for making grilled pizza at home! I guess it was a popular thing to do because now it's an option on the menu. The gluten-free dough option is a premade frozen crust, much thinner, and pricey. It's good when fresh out of the oven, just don't try to eat it for leftovers. Even a reheat in the oven or on a hot cast iron wasn't enough to revive it. As better gluten-free flour blends have been hitting the market, a fresh housemade GF crust would really be the only improvement considering the exceptional quality of ingredients and how well they do everything else based on five years of weekly pizzas! read more

When I moved to the area I was super pleased to find out that the closest pizza place was local. We've eaten Pinks now three times and loved it each time. My only complaint is that one pizza we got had way too much garlic. I love minced garlic, but it was a bit overwhelming. Hasn't happened again though. I ordered my pizza online at 5:54pm on 12/9/16 it's now 6:24 and it's still not here. If I'm paying $40 for 2medium gluten free pizzas I would of expected them to keep their delivery promise I got online of 60minutes :( Won't ask for delivery again from here. After moving back to Houston from Chicago, I was so disappointed in the pizza. While this place doesn't come close to the pizza in Chi, it is way better than Star imo and the best in Houston. Toppings are awesome.. think real bacon, fresh ingredients, etc. The pepperoni bread appetizer rocks in case the 2000 calories for a slice of pizza with bacon isn't enough for you. The lasagna pizza is good, but most of the time we'd make our own.. usually some f'ed up combo of goat cheese and bacon and stuff. We always had some issues getting them to deliver to us.. we lived 1 block outside their delivery radius and they were always mean about going 1 block outside the box. The Heights has something the rest of Houston seems to be sorely lacking: character. Neighborhood bars, older houses, and places like Pinks make The Heights my favorite part of town. Let me preface my review with this: I feel sorry for Houstonians. I really do. Houston is not a great town for foodies. It's hard to find little special places here and what's more frustrating is how far apart they are spread. Plus for a town with so many immigrants, the ethnic cuisine leaves a lot to be desired! Met a friend for lunch, who says the pizza is better here than any of their other locations. Ordered half pepperoni and half Italian sausage. Turned out to be good pizza all the way around with flavorful sausage, pepperoni and sauce. I give it four stars because as a transplanted New Yorker this is good pizza for down here. Okay, I'm a covert; after two bad experiences, I've had some really goods ones so I'm updating my review. I've had a really good experience ordering pizzas for pick-up; it's ready on time and piping hot & delicious; today was my first delivery attempt since the bad experiences; pizza was delivered 15 minutes ahead of predicted (mind you, I ordered at 4:45 on a Monday.) We especially love the Luna pizza (I think that's the name.) We sub regular sauce for the recommended Alfredo and it's delicious; the fresh basil makes it great! read more

The ingredients are so fresh and the dough had a good consistency. It's so much better than the national chains. I can eat Pinks Pizza by myself. In one sitting. But at $20 per pie, I only order it every now and then to save my wallet and my waistline. I used to order cheese-less pizza (more like bruschetta) from other mainstream delivery pizza joints but Pinks Pizza came into my life and they serve Daiya vegan cheese. HURRAH! Unfortunately I have to pay an extra $2 for Daiya cheese because the world discriminates against vegans, but at least Pinks is showin us some love. Dough is fabulous and premium ingredients. (Papa John whattttttt?) I'm one of those weird folk who actually prefer their pizzas COLD so after being in the fridge overnight, it tastes even BETTER. Dare I call this the best pizza in Houston? I think so. First time: Off of the roommates rec, I ordered the Classic (Feta, Pecorino Romano, Fresh Mozzarella, Tomatos, Garlic, Sun Dried Tomatoes, and Fresh Basil). Wow. Amazing. The tomato sauce on their pizza rocks. It's sweet, which to me, is how it should be on a pizza. The crust is great, not too thin not too thick. The ingredients were fresh. Second time: So Jus' Mac ran out of noodles and cheese, so I went to PInk's instead. I had the Cheese this time. I know I know, Cheese? Well sometimes I crave just cheese. It was good. Pink's begs the question "How many toppings is too many toppings?" Even though I did enjoy the Bada Bing ... 8 toppings ... really? If I were to construct a pizza on my own with 8 toppings it would probably cost me over $25. So next time I Will get the Bada Bing but will request no bacon (so overpowering on a pizza) or tomatoes. Big props to pinks for putting all of those toppings on a pizza and manage to not have a soggy crust (like star). read more

I'd recommend Pink's Pizza over other pizza chains -- except Star Pizza! -- both because it's local and it's good...whenever they get the order right, that is. Unfortunately, "getting it right" is often not the case, especially if you're ordering over the phone. If you decide to order in person and can be there to make sure your order's done exactly the way you want it and that they include everything you ask for, then I recommend the thin-crust pizzas. For deep dish, however, Star Pizza (also local) is so much better, and they always get our delivery orders right! read more
