If you're a light sleeper, the passing trains may bother you. It sounds like it is about every half hour or so, including overnight. I was fine, but partner was woken a few times. The place is clean. The water pressure and temp in the shower is also great. The TV in our room had white vertical lines on a few channels, but nothing that stopped us from watching our shows. Microwave and fridge worked good. Oh, but if you stay here, I would advise bringing your own TP. The rolls provided in the room feel like one ply tree bark--very thin and rough! Sidenote: the bed is kinda high. I am only 5' tall and the top of the bed was more than half my height. It was a real climb for me getting up and down. Taller folks may appreciate it. For the two of us, we only got 2 really thin pillows, so that may be another thing you may wanna tote along. Stacking the pillows worked fine, but then the second person was left without. Good thing I had a blanket in the truck and could roll that up. Something that they could improve on is their billing. We made reservations through Hotels.com. It said the credit card we used would be put on file to hold the room but we would not be charged until we got there. That was a lie, which they need to clear up the description on Hotels website. Our credit card was charged 2 days before arrival. Even if we wanted to change the card we were using (which we thought we had that option), there was no way to do it. It was a done deal before we even drove up.

A sliding door opens to a lovely balcony outside each room. It's a rustic sort of place in keeping with the environment. It doesn't have that "hotel smell". They do a phenomenol job at keeping this place spotless. We did not eat at their restaurant "Northern Pines" only because we found other small restaurants but this restaurant is very popular with local Flagstaffians. The Kendrick has everything you need AND it is only 7 mins. away by car to downtown. Minus .5 star for the too soft bed (but we prefer a hard/firm mattress).

There's a restaurant (bar) right in front of the building, and I remember that its patrons seemed to take up most of the front parking spaces. The interior layout was exactly the same. You exit the lobby through a door behind the front desk to access the main building where the rooms are located. I remember this clearly because during my last stay, the side entrance door wasn't working properly--even with a key card. It looks like the room has been remodeled and feels more polished now, but other parts of the property, like the elevator, still feel old. That said, the front desk staff was very nice.

My sister ordered the special pork chops which were served with just a hint of sauce. I had the bison burger which is served with smoked Gouda & roasted red peppers on a fresh baked whole wheal roll. All I can say is I've been ruined for every other hamburger now for the rest of my life. Our server was perfectly attentive, knowledgeable and pleasant. The owner stopped by & answered all our questions about their plans for the health spa that is almost complete. The atmosphere is upscale with an equestrian vibe that is perfectly suited to the locale. Our recently renovated rooms are lovely. I can't wait to come back soon and spend a week or so at the spa!!!

The pull out is good for a child but a large adult and definitely two would be hard to sleep comfortably. The hotel hits the mark with all of the amenities and decor. The decor in the room was tastefully done and it felt like a home away from home. The staff is there until 6pm each day and available to be reached any time of the day. The courtyard was done so well and has plenty of seating with multiple firepits to enjoy. The lobby has many amenities from smores kits, lighters and drinks to purchase. The communication was wonderful from arrival and until departure. The only complaint we had was how hard it was to keep the temperature in the room at the same degree, but with a 1894 home it gives it character.

As a mom, I called this hotel hoping they could help. I cannot say enough good things about this place. When they arrived, they were welcomed with genuine kindness, and both of them talked about how friendly everyone was during check-in. They made two tired young adults feel right at home and even eased the mind of one worried mom. Thank you for going above and beyond. Your kindness became a memorable part of their adventure, and I will always be grateful for that. Five stars isn't enough.

If it hadn't been our last night we would have left. Besides a roach the floors aren't assembled correctly, the door has mold and doesn't fully shut, the bed is uncomfortable. The fridge barely works, food would get cold and thaw constantly. Seems like anytime we come there is new management/staff. There needs to be accountability from the owners and management for how horrible this hotel has gotten. I never expect a 5 star experience but to find so much mold, a roach and the fridge barely working is unacceptable. Management has obviously tried to cover up the disrepair of this place but it's not working because whatever shoddy paint job was applied is already showing the damage underneath. Paint is peeling, the ceiling has water stains. I guarantee this place is full of mold in the walls and ceiling. This hotel needs to be condemned.

Sonesta ES Suites is listed as a 3-star hotel, but our experience was absolutely 5-star level…read more While the rooms are a bit dated and could use a refresh, the service more than makes up for it. We stayed during Northern Arizona University graduation weekend, so we assumed there was no chance of getting an early check-in with how busy Flagstaff was. Thankfully, Chris, the General Manager, took amazing care of us. He was incredibly friendly, gave us great dinner recommendations, and went out of his way to make sure we could check in early. That level of hospitality made a huge difference during a hectic graduation weekend. Since this is an extended stay property, the layout feels more like an apartment complex than a traditional hotel. The room was essentially a studio apartment complete with a kitchen, living area, king size bed, full bathroom, and even a fireplace. The kitchen included a full-size refrigerator and stovetop, which was a nice bonus. There was also storage everywhere--drawers and cabinets throughout the room, including several in the bathroom--which made the space feel very functional and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable and the air conditioning worked like a charm. The bed came with four pillows, which usually means thin pillows where you need to stack two together to sleep comfortably. Not these. They were fluffy and firm enough that I only needed one. The shower took a little time to heat up, but once it did there was plenty of hot water. There were definitely some visible signs of wear--the couch and carpet especially--but it really didn't detract much from the overall experience. The check-in building also has a dining area that offers a complimentary daily breakfast. There's a small bar serving a few local draft beers and wine, plus a convenience store where you can grab snacks and other incidentals. Parking is $5, and there was plenty of parking conveniently located near the rooms. If you're looking for a spacious, comfortable stay in Flagstaff with exceptional customer service, Sonesta ES Suites is an easy recommendation.

Once we saw the room, we did ask if there was another option that didn't face the parking lot on the ground floor, as the bright lights from cars would be directly facing us throughout the night. The staff was really cool about it and understood. They were able to accommodate us by moving us to a 2nd floor room near the basketball courts. That room felt a lot more warmer and more welcoming than the first. The room itself definitely has some areas that could use updating, but it satisfied what we needed for 2 nights and gave us a good home base while visiting family at NAU. Since we drove up, having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was helpful for the things we brought with us...Alcohol, snacks & some fruit!! haha Overall, the property is definitely due for some updates. At times it almost had an older Disney resort feel to it, which wasn't necessarily bad, just dated. The staff and service were the highlights of the stay and definitely helped make the overall experience better. Scam Alert - West Inn NAU - Downtown Flagstaff Kept My Money After I Canceled on Time…read more I booked this hotel through Hotels.com and canceled three full days before check-in, well within the hotel's own cancellation policy, which clearly states: "Travelers who cancel 48 hours or more before 3:00 PM MST on the day of check-in are charged no fee." Despite following the rules exactly, West Inn NAU - Downtown Flagstaff refused to issue a refund. I contacted them directly and got nothing but excuses. Even Hotels.com couldn't get them to do the right thing. They blatantly ignored their own terms and kept my money. This isn't just bad service -- it's dishonest and predatory. If a business won't honor its own cancellation policy, they don't deserve your trust or your money. Stay far away from this place. Flagstaff has many reputable hotels -- don't waste your time or risk being scammed like I was.
