We were looking for a cheap, nice, and clean room for a night. I know anymore those are 3 things that normally don't go together, but at this motel it did! The man working the front desk was exceptionally nice. He changed our room so that our work truck wasn't sitting by the road. We carry a lot of tools so it's always something we worry about. We entered the room thinking it would be mediocre, but it was nice, and clean. The bed was soft and comfy, the room we had also had a couch, fridge, and microwave. Room 15 They offer coffee in the office from 6am-11am, they have an ice machine, and check out is 11am. The flatscreen tv also had usb and hdmi ports so we could watch our Direct TV streaming cable just like at home. Although, they also have cable. This motel is close to everything we needed, Walmart, Sam's, parts stores, and a bunch of eating places. We love to walk to places after we land at a place so this was perfect for walking to pretty much anywhere we needed. We will definitely stay here again when traveling through Flagstaff! This place is priced fairly for what you get. No frills, but there was an ice machine, fridge & microwave. That's all I personally really need. I never use hotel pools or gyms anyway. If you're a light sleeper, the passing trains may bother you. It sounds like it is about every half hour or so, including overnight. I was fine, but partner was woken a few times. The place is clean. The water pressure and temp in the shower is also great. The TV in our room had white vertical lines on a few channels, but nothing that stopped us from watching our shows. Microwave and fridge worked good. Oh, but if you stay here, I would advise bringing your own TP. The rolls provided in the room feel like one ply tree bark--very thin and rough! Sidenote: the bed is kinda high. I am only 5' tall and the top of the bed was more than half my height. It was a real climb for me getting up and down. Taller folks may appreciate it. For the two of us, we only got 2 really thin pillows, so that may be another thing you may wanna tote along. Stacking the pillows worked fine, but then the second person was left without. Good thing I had a blanket in the truck and could roll that up. Something that they could improve on is their billing. We made reservations through Hotels.com. It said the credit card we used would be put on file to hold the room but we would not be charged until we got there. That was a lie, which they need to clear up the description on Hotels website. Our credit card was charged 2 days before arrival. Even if we wanted to change the card we were using (which we thought we had that option), there was no way to do it. This place looked decent on Hotels.com and had an 8.0 rating out of 10. I don't know how they managed to get those numbers! My family and I decided on a spontaneous road trip, so we did not book rooms in advance. When we got to Flagstaff, this was one of the few places available. I'm guessing that with Memorial Day weekend and graduations, a lot of places were at full capacity. We paid $271 per room and they were a dump! Let me tell you how bad it was... The checkin office had a pungent odor. We had to hold our breaths while we waited to get our room keys. The rooms had a funky smell as well, but we had some spray so it was bearable. The beds had a metal frame that was squeaky. The mattress was extra firm and the sheets were really old and had hard cotton balls formed on them. You don't need to use facial wash with exfoliating beads to remove dead skin cells because the pillowcase will do the job just fine! We had a very uncomfortable night and it was anything but restful! There was a train track in front of the motel, and it must have gone by at least a dozen times. The shower was filthy! It had a lot of nasty yellow stains and did not look like it had been scrubbed. We ended up putting a towel in the shower to stand on. My nieces wore their slippers to shower because they were too disgusted. The towels were really old and thin, and did not seem fresh. Let's just pray that they were at least washed! If you don't have to use the hair dryer, I wouldn't use it. The one in my room was caked with dust and stains. A weird smell came out of it. The one in my sister-in-law's room didn't even work. There was a tissue holder, but no tissues. They had really cheap shampoo and conditioner, but we brought our own. I guess I'm spoiled from staying at nice places. Honestly, I don't think this place is worth more than $50, so it's crazy how they charged $271 per room! They have complimentary coffee and tea in the checkin office in the morning, but we opted out. We couldn't wait to get the hell out of there! We all agreed this was the worst experience! Our expectations were low because it was a motel and not a hotel, but we didn't think it would be possible to be this bad!! read more

While the front desk staff was friendly, they did seem annoyed when I asked for additional pillows. The king bed came with two very flat pillows and no spares in the room. My rating is three fold. First, due to lack of cleanliness and several bugs in the room. I had to kill them every time I used the restroom. I can only imagine they're throughout. See photo of the moldy shower stall That shows only part of it. Second, the bed was rock hard. So much so we bought a foam pad at Walmart. And third, it's across the street from a very busy railroad track that runs day and night. The AC was annoying, set at 72, but cycled up to 74 and down to 68 on its own. Room is smaller than pictured but it's not too bad. I Clorox wiped everything from the door handles to the the floor and the bed frame because it was either sticky or dusty. The bed is very springy but that doesn't bother me for the price I paid. Loud AC but that also doesn't bother me either. I did check for bed bugs and found none. Slight staining on one of the sheets so we removed it and didn't use it. The towels are rough and not soft but we used our own. Wonderful wifi and love the ice room since our stay was in the blazing summer heat. read more

I'm not sure why this place has 3 stars because it is 5 star, all the way. It's much cleaner than corporate hotels. The linens are fresh, the rooms are charming, and the staff is very, VERY nice. this place is really not bad. it's convenient to lots ski resort, food, downtown, grocery store. right off the 66. easy to find. the rooms are what they are. beds are spring but not bad. the little guy thar works upfront is really kind. they have good TV and the showers aren't bad. they take a little while to warm up but the kind man does warn you of this! it's clean and cozy. I would for sure stay here again I would reccomend. if you are a I need High end type this is not for you. they have a heater it works well but they don't have a lot of blankets on the bed I'd say that would be my one complaint. but truly I don't really have any. thank you for a good stay and a inexpensive bill. read more

Hair dryer didn't work, TV had lines going through picture, heat/cool unit wouldn't hold the temp I set, sheet had stains on it, safe was locked, floor was dirty, there were no hangers. Just FYI - trains run along this road all day and night. I didn't mind that, but they are pretty noisy. Front desk didn't believe me about TV and hair dryer and insisted on coming into my room to see for themselves. They blamed the cable company for the TV problems. I'd skip this place - there are lots more to choose from. read more

A lot of Flagstaff lodging is a raw deal for what you pay, and that's because with the demand the local motel slumlords posing as hotel owners know they have all the leverage. But Relax Inn is a relatively good budget spot for the price. It's motel quality, sure, but the rooms have always been clean and in working order, the air has always worked, the water has always worked, and the guy up front has never had a problem checking me in. The parking lot certainly feels a lot safer than some of the other nearby hotels/motels (which often get an evening visit from the Flagstaff PD), and it's actually deceptively easy to get into and out of, even if trying to make an unprotected turn onto eastbound Route 66. You're fairly close to Downtown Flagstaff, and you're within a block of a supermarket, a gas station, and a couple of restaurants (Culver's and a local hot dog place). Walking to Downtown can seem harrowing at night given the aforementioned safety concerns plus aggressive traffic along Route 66... but during the day you're only about 10-20 minutes away on foot from Downtown, and if you run or bike you're not far from trails leading to Buffalo Park. (One tip: The consistently present trains through town mean that nearby Ponderosa Pkwy can be blocked for minutes at a time. If you want to head south but don't want to get stuck, head west on 66 since 66 follows an underpass beneath the tracks.) read more

Okay, I usually stay in 4 or 5 star hotels, however, I am having hand surgery tomorrow morning, and all I needed is a safe, clean room. At the last minute, my doctor's office called me, and told me that I had to have surgery at 6:00 in the morning, and I live an hour and a half away, so I decided to stay a few blocks away from the surgical office. I was scanning hotels, and this place happened to pop up. I decided t spend the night here, figuring that it would be old and maybe worn a bit. Boy, was I surprised, as it looks like this place was recently rebuilt from the ground up. It is extremely comfortable, and very convenient as well as very clean. It even has a large TV screen. I thought that for the low price, I wouldn't expect much. Many route 66 motels look terrible, but this place even looks nice on the outside. I had to make an emergency trip to Flagstaff, AZ to help a family member home from an auto accident heading to Sedona. Booking online the relax inn was conveniently located, had reasonable rates and in addition fairly good reviews so I booked a room for the night, this was early morning. The motel is on Route 66 and there are lots of restaurants and shops near-by the quaint old town just a few minutes away. Driving into the Relax Inn you are pleasantly surprised to find a very well maintained freshly painted cute single story (no stairs) motor lodge from the glory days of Route 66. They have a good size parking lot with easy parking at your door. The room was updated as well with granite countertops the bathroom and shower were fresh and updated... the room was clean, the air conditioner worked and was reasonably quiet and most importantly the bed was comfortable and recently new like improvements to the room. All in all I'd say the condition for the room was very good and everything appeared better than average to the surrounding other lodgings, this is a nice little lodge from the 60's that the owners take pride in, if you are looking for a reasonable priced place to stay that's clean and comfortable this is a good choice. One more thing, not always easy to find is the Management and staff are friendly and accommodating willing to go the extra mile to make my stay as pleasant as possible, they earned the 5 stars. read more

Worse experience ever, I booked for 3 days and I only stayed one night my dad got corona and I had to leave for an emergency but the Indian guy at the front desk charged me for 3 nights even tho I didn't stay that much and I stated that my dad is in a really hard situation and I have to leave plus he blamed that the website Expedia the one I booked the motel with would charge them for it if he gives me a refund! I called them and they said they have nothing to do with that relax in is the one who charged u and we cause him no problem at all. He lied to me and he took full money and didn't give me any refund back plus his attitude was very very rude didn't even take my dads situation in consideration!!! I was traveling home from Colorado and was too tired to drive to the rest of the way to Phoenix. It was Saturday night and most hotels in Flag were sold out. Relax inn charges me $259 for a room with a shower that never got hot (Luke warm at best). Blow dryer didn't get hot either. The "blanket" on the bed was barely more than an extra sheet. Train ran all night. This motel should not cost more than $75 a night. If I hadn't been so tired, I'd never stay here. What a rip off. read more

They have recently renovated their rooms, so much of the tile work and linens were new. The room we had was tiny, but it was good for one night. I liked that the window opened, and I liked the train passing through across the road. It was clean, but things like doors, lot and walls were dinged up and tired. DON'T GO HERE!! I know this place is a little cheaper then other hotels but it's a joke!! First off this place looks run down and there was a bunch of trash outside. The people here were rude and money hungry. They didn't clean the room when I was gone and blamed me for not putting up a sign for the maid to come. There was no sign provided. The beds were super uncomfortable and didn't look clean. There was a bunch of dust and crap all over it when I first entered the room. Also this place is not handy cap accessible. When I went to take a shower the towels we're stiff and had brown spots on them. I was extremely grossed out. To top it off this place is right next to the train tracks and it is LOUD!!! Motel is rundown and gross. When I arrived in my room the top sheet was clean. But all the sheets under it were dirty. I found bed bugs the next day and the staff wasn't apologetic until I told them how gross it was. I got my refund and went to a motel 6. Reserved a room online and when we walked into the hotel to check in with an employee they could not find our room but they charged me twice. When we went to the room to settle in for the night my husband wanted to take a shower but noticed that the towels had stains on them liked they weren't washed and so did the pillow cases. We tried calling and talking to the front desk about getting new towels and pillow cases but they were not helpful at all very rude and arrogant. We also noticed on the outside of the window to our room cameras facing directly into the room... weird. So my husband also went to the front desk to check and see if they had any new clean ones available but was not treated with customer service but with the manager yelling and racial profiling causing my husband and I to leave that night. Only stayed for a little over an hour and we will never come back to this hotel or recommend to anyone ever. read more

Very very nice for the price! I am a $50 and under type hotel guest when I traveled cross-country. $50 usually does not buy you much. But I think this hotel must have been remodeled recently. The floors are new. No carpet. There's a small refrigerator and microwave. The TV is a big LG. The headboard is nice. The paint is modern and new. The shower is spotless. The toilet is spotless. The sink area is very clean. They have installed new vinyl windows. I feel like some of these other bad reviews must've happened before they renovated, because it's actually quite nice. If you are someone who normally stays at the lower-end hotels to save money give this one a try. You will be pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend this motel. read more

Let me be clear, THIS IS A ONE STAR HOTEL. That being said, for a one star hole in the wall, I will give it 3 stars for a few reasons. First of all, it is the cheapest we found at $35 including tax. It had working heat (though loud), and tv w cable. The front desk guy (who basically lives there) is so cool. He gave us extra clean towels and even found me a stopper for the tub so I could take a bath. Drawbacks: it is a dump, bring your own shampoo, hell I wish I brought my own pillow (I think the one I got was so flat it was from the 1930s), train noise. Not sure how private this place is. We checked into our hotel before going to dinner with our friend who was with us. This was around 4-5 pm. The second we arrived in our room the phone was ringing. The front desk wanted to charge us $50 for having an extra person staying with us. We oddly had to explain that this person was not staying with us and confirm only two persons were staying in the room. Very strange they saw this right away and odd I we had to explain at 5 pm the person in the room with us was not staying the night. The room was what we expected in a 2 star hotel. Tiny rooms! We had a single queen room, and the room was not much larger than the bed itself. This motel has definitely been updated, and comes with a large wall mounted tv with lots of channels. Our bed was super squeaky, making sounds every little movement. Definitely did the job and was a great deal, just a little bit claustrophobic. read more

Great place to stay, for the price. It has a microwave and a mini fridge. Normal hotel necisitas like, two rolls of toilet paper. Little bottles of shampoo and conditioner, you only get one set. Also 3 tiny bars of soap. It was super clean. The furniture is slightly scratched but nothing extremely ghetto. They provide you with one makeup removal wipe. Sheets are thin but they do the job. The air conditioning is great. The only bad thing is the train is a little loud and it passes a few times through out the day. There is no pool and no breakfast served. Only coffee in the office and it's between certain hours. I feel like this is a good place to stay if your are going to be out and about. It's next to a Verizon store and a walking distance gas station. And it's pretty close to a mall :) read more

Fully renovated rooms. Very clean. Bed is a bit on the firm side, but not as firm as Motel 6 if you are familiar. Park right in front of your room with no stairs as single level only. Rooms a bit on smaller side. Refrigerator and microwave. Supermarket is a 3 minute walk. Shower only has easy entry since not tub combo. Family owned and service is top notch. Check in was less than 4 minutes! WiFi strong. Downtown one mile west. Easy access to I40. Coffee, tea, and hot cocoa until 11am. No resort or other bs add on fees. Shampoo and soap included. Ice machine works very well. Has coin laundry machines as well. We will be staying here again. Large value for the cost. read more

Our stay was far from pleasant. When we checked in the gentleman at the front was pleasant and helpful but that is where the positive experience ends. Night one we exit the vehicle to go into our room and the kid staying two doors down from us was outside with his buddy smoking a joint. We had a 10-year-old with us so this was offputting and worrisome. Upon entering the room we discovered dirty and cut up floors, and the bathroom looked like it hasn't been cleaned properly in quite some time. It looks like the prior occupants had been urinating in the corner of the shower stall and it was never cleaned. The toiletries were placed on top of the toilet which is just unsanitary, but luckily we brought our own. The beds were so uncomfortable we barely slept the whole three days we were there. On the last night we were there I went out to my vehicle to put a club on the steering wheel and the joint smoker from night one came outside yelling and asking for weed. It was scary. The worst part is 90 minutes after we checked out and left flagstaff we received a text message from housekeeping claiming that the cuts and scratches that were on the floor were our fault. Beyond the fact that they were there when I arrived I was upset the housekeeper had access to my personal information. I never heard back from management regarding the accusations.
