The food was amazing! I didn't take a photo of the mussels but those were the best mussels I've ever had! The pork schnitzel was amazing with the peppers and the shrimp was delicious as well! Everything was seasoned so well and definitely right up my alley for taste profile which is to not be too greasy and to always have some sort of spiciness or vinegary/ citrus aspect so that it cuts the greasy taste! read more

Great first visit to PSG! Host staff were all amazing; we were not seated until ~15 minutes after our reservation and it appeared a walk-in was seated before us, but host staff will grab you a cocktail while you wait! Decor and vibe are super fun, loved basketball bathroom! Food was fantastic - the spinach and artichoke dip was the bomb, as was the burger (and special mention for the ranch which I asked for to dip my fries). Brussels were a little too saucy IMO, and we didn't love the super sweet sauce on the plate of the carrot cake, it would've been much better without. It also very clearly came right out of the fridge and would've been better closer to room temp. Special shoutout for the tequila (PSG) old fashioned, highly recommend and love seeing it on the menu! read more

Great service and food. Went there for brunch today. We got the crab eggs Benedict, pancakes and a side of bacon. All were flavorful. The pancakes arrived cold. I kindly let a staffer know when they asked how our meal was. Then a different staffer came over and apologized. I thought that meant it would be taken off our bill but it wasn't. Cocktails had a great presentation but I wasn't really a fan. The space itself is nice just wish the lighting was better they leaned into natural light when we were there but could have been a bit brighter with lights. I'll come back because of how well everyone treated us. Will try dinner next time. read more

Returned 2 weeks after our first visit because there was so much on the menu we wanted to try! A little bummed the chicken wings are no longer on the happy hour menu. We got the pimento crab dip, burger, and shrimp pil pil! The burger is definitely big enough to split between two people and it comes with fries. It's truly one of our favorite burgers in the city. Comfort meets hospitality at this new neighborhood restaurant. It almost felt poetic seeing the friendly lights in Fitler Square as a precursor to the warm interior before dinner. I visited as a Sunday evening party of two, and was greeted with enthusiasm at the front door. The staff were all super attentive, and we were seated at a high-top adjacent to the bar. I liked the open feel, with the kitchen in the back and seeing families, couples, and friends dine! Half the restaurant is advertised for walk-ins only, which I love Chefs Amanda Shulman and Alex Kemp's intent to maintain an inclusive presence. Our food felt nostalgic yet light, in the "top dishes for a picnic in the park" style. The Philly Balls were a great take on the traditional roast pork, and was a solid starter dish before our entrees. We shared the Matzah Ball soup, which luckily had the option of splitting into two cups for ease. It was such a great compliment in flavor to the Turkey Club sandwich that was stuffed to the brim like how it is at your favorite local diner. My personal favorite of the night was the Cookie Skillet, which was melt-in-the-mouth delicious and finished our meal on the highest note. We thanked our own intuition for saving enough stomach room to order it! While we didn't order it, I was pleased to see a late-night option where you can get the PSG Burger and a beer at a solid discounted price. In addition, they also provide a classic Happy Hour that makes visits affordable, easy, and really versatile at most hours of the day. The dining experience was wonderful, and it was clear to see a range of welcoming customers young and old with us. Disappointing and mediocre. Very stingy. Service and everything else fine. Drinks fine. I live in the area and I would only come for drinks or maybe fries. Examples: "mortadella skewer" an app that isn't ready for prime time. The pastrami croquets were only two for the dish, that's too few by any measure. The salad was warm, overdressed and wilted, nothing like I hoped a Greek salad to be. The supplemental "shrimp skewer" were only three medium shrimp. The menu was narrow in the extreme, for instance the burger is a smash burger without any other choices. The "citywide" selection of drinks (various beers paired with various hard liquors) was an unfinished idea, not quite interesting enough. My two-top was seated by the kitchen, so we got to see it in action, chat with Chefs Shulman and Kemp, and have a corner view of the entire restaurant. Service was kind all around. We mixed up what we ordered, and enjoyed: - Philly Balls (roast pork and provolone, broccoli rabe, hot relish)--searing hot and incredibly tasty bites! - Buffalo Wings (brown butter how sauce, stilton blue cheese)--delicious and calls for the wet wipe PSG provides. (Prefer these over the plainer Nuggets, which we enjoyed last time.) - Matzah Ball soup (roast chicken, parsnip, dill)--satisfying on a cold winter evening. - Rotisserie Chicken (half chicken, gravy)--tender and juicy. - Roasted Brussels Sprouts--how do they get the flavor between each leaf?! - Fries--seasoned better this time around. Unfortunately, we didn't leave enough room for the Cookie Skillet (sourdough chocolate chip cookie, malted ice cream), which we'd said we were going to indulge in this time, since we loved the Sundae (malted milk ice cream, brownie bites, spiced walnuts, hot fudge, cherry) so much our first time with PSG. So next time that plus the Carrot Cake (rum raisins, carrot jam, cream cheese mousse), which we saw leaving the kitchen and looking beautiful. Pine Street Grill is definitely a great addition to the neighborhood. Upon entry, the ambiance is very warm, cozy, and dimly lit. The smell of the food filled the space and made us even more hungry than we already were. The restaurant was packed on a Thursday night. We didn't have a reservation and ideally we would have liked to have gotten a seat at the bar, but there were no open seats. We then put our name down for a table and were told the wait would be about 45min (which ended up being ~25min). Once seated our waitress went over the menu-- the popular favorites and specialties. We started with the buffalo wings and pretzel. The brown butter hot sauce of the wings could be noted from before the plate hit the table. The wings were crisp and the taste of the sauce was spicy but very flavorful (not hot to just be hot). My partner isn't a fan of blue cheese yet absolutely loved the blue cheese that came with the wings. There was none left when we finished the plate. The pretzel was also great with the mustard hollandaise sauce. We shared the PSG burger which definitely lives up to the hype. The two smash-patties with the onion and cooper sharp were perfect compliments of each other. Definitely recommend. We finished the meal with the sundae. The malted milk flavor ice cream made us reminisce of sweet cereal milk and the hot fudge to pour over was perfection. Our waitress and the host also recommended the key lime pie and the carrot cake. We didn't end up trying them but when we go back we will definitely get them--other tables ordered them and they both looked incredible. The Irish coffees were definitely alcohol forward and hit the spot for the cold night we went. I highly recommend this restaurant and already have reservations to return! 5/5 stars! read more

I was looking forward to PSG opening due to their proximity to my home. I thought that everything I ate was pretty good but it's more like a 3.5 at this time. I love the policy of 1/2 walk-ins to 1/2 rezys, however, the 1/2 rezy folks on line behind us were all pretty annoyed to have to share the line. Maybe it was the cold or snow? Who knows but somehow most of us made it inside for the opening bell at 1600. That leads to the question of timing for the next seating. We sat at the bar, tended by a very kind Joshua who helped us navigate the menu. Although PSG offers HH, there isn't a printed HH menu. It's online for those in the know. The front door kept opening after the entire restaurant was full which made it very drafty. By 1730 many people were allowed entrance into PSG waiting for tables. We were paid up and ready to bounce but most of the tables were still occupied. The best thing we ate were the buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese that was off the charts! We ordered another one after that plus a PSG Burger and Mac and Cheese. The food needed seasoning and we did request salt and pepper. I always feel bad about that but, alas, it was necessary. This is a pretty good neighborhood diner-ish restaurant. There are 2 TV's at the corners of the 10 seat bar. It's not a sports bar. But there are signs. (See photos attached) read more

I had a 5pm dinner reservation at Pine Street Grill and went with my boyfriend. From the minute we sat down until the minute we left, we had incredible service by all of the waitstaff. He had a mezcal cocktail and I had a glass of wine. For apps, we had the philly balls (highly recommended!) and a greek salad. For dinner, he had the burger and I had the turkey chili- both were phenomenal. For dessert, he had the key lime pie & I had the cookie skillet. Super cute inside the restaurant too!! What an absolutely wonderful place. If there was ever a restaurant created from scratch based on my wish list, I have found it. PSG is not only a phenomenal restaurant leaning into simple but incredible renditions of classic dishes, it's also one of the most welcoming places I've been. From the moment we were greeted at the front door, to the incredibly attentive waitstaff, the engagement and gratitude from Amanda, to the entire staff being so welcoming and friendly with our daughter...everything made us feel like we belonged. Add to that some absolutely incredible food and we have our new favorite neighborhood destination. Quick rundown on what we ordered: Artichoke spinach dip in the artichoke: great, savory, wonderful comfort food app. And Espie (18mo old) approved! Winter salad: one of the best salads we've had Grilled cheese: amazing - E double-fisted it the whole time she was chowing down Eggplant parm: everything I imagined it to be. Best I've had in PHL Chicken: only had a bite but it was incredible Carrot cake: fabulous with icing like a cream cheese cloud, but definitely sweet Overall probably my most favorite restaurant experience as a family I've had in Philly. So happy this neighborhood joint opened up! They only reserve tables in the back half of the restaurant to safe the front tables and bar area for walkins with the idea to encourage locals to come. The restaurant is small but mighty. Great atmosphere, fun and friendly staff. We've been every couple of weeks since it's opened! The most endearing aspect of Pine Street Grill is the small pine cone logo that adorns their plates, mugs and paper place mats. The logo is meant to set the tone: despite our Michelin heritage, don't take us too seriously. My boyfriend and I were excited for the opening of a well-priced, tavern-esque neighborhood spot to open across from Fitler Square. We went for dinner as soon as they opened and just went back to try the brunch. Pros: we loved our brunch entrees. My boyfriend ordered the crab cake benedict and I had the farmer's cheese pancakes. Both were delicious. I appreciated the uniqueness of a cheese-based pancake and that they use fresh blueberry for the compote. Cons: When we went for dinner, we ordered the burger, which my boyfriend liked better than I did. I didn't like the flavor of the house burger sauce and I thought the overall onion/patty texture was mushy. The meat was served to us at room temperature. That turned out to be a running theme: the hot cookie skillet came luke-warm. The coffee at brunch was bitter and my espresso martini was so sweet I could only manage a couple of sips. Service felt slow for a Sunday morning brunch rush. I also take issue with the lack of complimentary sides. Pine Street Grill is not a steakhouse. One should not have to order a side of fries to go with their burger. Half of an English muffin topped with a crab cake and sauce looks sad and lonely on a large breakfast plate unless dining at 11 Madison. Round out the plates, add some fluff, ie. a scoop of home fries or toss of mixed greens. Given the paltry servings and necessary add-ons, I wouldn't call Pine Street Grill "well-priced." I wanted this to be the kind of spot we could throw into the regular brunch rotation but no crab cake benedict will outmatch the bread basket at Parc or the menu and quality of Trattoria Carina a few blocks away. read more

Sharp looking, in crowd cafe in Fitler Square that does not match up with My Loup. Ordered a Greek salad and it was so small that we had trouble sharing it. At $16 they could do better. My husband had the chicken schnitzel which was very good but there were no side dishes So the portion was miniscule. My crab sandwich, while tasty, had a tiny scoop of slaw. For $27 that was a disgrace. Portion size plus side dishes should be addressed since we are frequent diners in Center City. read more

I was really looking forward to eating here but was a little disappointed. The spinach artichoke dip was just average, way way too much lemon. The shrimp louie was just average. The burger has potential, but was slightly over done. The cookie in the cookie skillet had great flavor but it was a little hard, and hard to eat as a result in the hot mini cast iron. I was expecting more from the ice cream. The mussel broth was great! Our server was a little bit off putting, really dry, felt a little bit rude at times. They also forgot one of our mains. I don't typically leave negative reviews but love to leave a positive review. however, my experience here was an incredibly negative one. i told my waitress I have a gluten allergy. she explained to me that 2 of the dishes we ordered are typically made with flour but could be modified. I was elated. she followed up by asking "can you have just a little bit of flour?" I exclaimed, no! no flour! our meals arrived and I suspected the sauce on the shrimp pil pil was a bit thick but trust! I find my allergy annoying, and I hate to fuss! low and behold, I became very sick within the next few hours and missed work the next day to recover. I reached out via email. got no response. wrote a review on google. got no response. later found out about 2 other people ended up with food poisoning here. super disappointing. read more
