Lovely location, Lovely setting, Lovely tables, and great service! The problem is the availability of items. On my visit Monday, there was no sugar for the coffee. They were also out of buns. They have no gluten free bread, rolls, or bagels of any sort. The manager and the other person working were very helpful and nice, but apologized that they didn't have these items. As a gluten free eater, I won't be able to return, esp since the only decaf coffee is Americano or expresso and not very tasty. read more

I stopped by during my afternoon walk to get a little something to warm up my hands. This looks like a popular work/study spot. It was nice and quiet. There was plenty of seating, and several people focused on their computers. I got a cardamom latte, which was good. After seeing all of the food photos, I wish I would have gotten a snack too! One of the cutest cafes in the Fairmount area. It has incredibly comfy vibes with huge windows & plants surrounding the front area. There are 2 large and 2 smaller tables in the front and a couple smaller ones in the back which has less natural lighting. I personally enjoyed sitting right by the window to soak up the sun. Overall, a smaller cafe that was packed on a Saturday afternoon. I came here to do some work on my laptop. I wouldn't necessarily say it was the best environment as there was a lot of chatter with music in the background. However, I definitely imagine it would be a good place on the weekday. Of note, I didn't see any free wifi. I got an iced vanilla latte which was delicious. The beans were fragrant and there was a nutty taste. Not super sweet or strong of vanilla which I preferred. I have visited this cafe a few times now and never had a bad experience. This time around I got the avocado toast and cafe au lait. I'm not the biggest fan of their coffee (I suggest the chai instead) but my toast was delicious. The bread was thick and hearty and they were very generous with the mashed avocado, plus the drizzle of olive oil on top gave it a nice extra richness. As far as service goes, you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Never encountered any problems there. The ambiance is welcoming, with lots of plants and sunlight. All in all I'm a big fan of Musette and if I lived in Philly would come more often. read more

Thanks to Musette, I now know what a tartine is. I LOVE how it doesn't just taste like random breakfast fare thrown on top of toast. It's got the vibe of a brunch restaurant with the casual setup of a cafe -- like you can just order and take a seat. The smoked salmon tartine I had came with this creamy spread, fennel, and capers. It tasted like the ingredients were purposefully paired together to complement each other's flavors, and I suspect the rest of the tartines are like that too. They have mad tartine literature hanging around the shop. I didn't have any of the sweets, so I can't comment on those. I wish I lived closer! read more

Musette is such a special place and one of my favorite spots in the city for a number of reasons. I only really get black drip or iced coffee here, but their food menu, pastries, staff, and space are all truly top notch. I've stopped by with girlfriends for weekend chats and a quick coffee before a yoga class, and look forward to many writing sessions in their bright space and dates at one of their outdoor tables. They have a small kitchen and well thought out breakfast and lunch menu, ranging from salads to toasts and more. Baristas here are excellent and keep the line moving insanely fast even on the most beautiful weekend days. Hard to beat the location and I am so grateful this community gem exists. read more

The cafe has a good amount of seating but it gets packed if you don't come early enough. The coffee was really pleasant! I enjoyed it a lot. The food was good too! I ordered the shakshuka which was very chili flavor heavy. The egg served was a fried egg. I also got a salad that came with trout, green beans, and a soft boiled egg. It was a delicious salad! I wouldn't never have thought to pair those salad ingredients together but it worked well with the dressing! I was impressed by the salad. The food is pricey for what you're getting. I wish I could give this zero stars. Grabbed an Avocado Toast to go and what I was received was insulting. When I opened the box I was confused about why the avocado was diced instead of smashed. I was like well this is going to be a pain to eat but it's not that big of a deal. When I go to pick it up though the bread was sliced in the middle so all the avocado rolled off. Now I'm more annoyed but I can deal with this. I grab a fork to scoop the avocado back on the toast and I realize the avocado isn't ripe. Completely rock solid and inedible. That's why it's not smashed. They physically could not smash the rock hard avocado. It's insulting that this place had the audacity to give this to me. Give this to me for $10 plus tax and tip and leave me with no choice but to throw it in the garbage as soon as I got home. Update: I reached out to the business through email shortly after posting this review to request a refund. The refund was later granted and an apology issued which is the best outcome you can hope for in these situations. read more

The food and coffee here is very good, and the pastries in particular are excellent. The decor is nice and overall it's a good place to come in and relax or read. However, the clientele and some of the staff are fairly insufferable. They have a very haughty and unwelcoming attitude. I guess they're going for an authentic Parisian cafe. A couple of the staff there are very nice though. Although I live in the neighborhood, it's not my go to spot because of the atmosphere. read more

Musette has officially put Brown Street and Lucky Goat on notice with their great atmosphere and coffeeshop vibes. I stopped by this place after Sunday morning yoga and I'm so glad that I did. The atmosphere in here is great and it's so new that the crowds haven't showed up yet. I got a cappuccino and we split some Avocado Toast and a Fig Jam, Apple, and Brie Baguette. They do NOT have a full kitchen here but they have an interesting selection of cold sandwiches (no meat on the menu). The sign says pastries, but all we saw were a few bagels and biscotti (to be fair we were there late in the day). The best thing about this place was the cool ambience they have created. The Beatles' White Album was playing and there were a few people working on laptops inside. Even the bathroom was well appointed and fit the rest of the place. It's a secret in life to find a way merging the things you want and the things you need. What I did not need was a typical sugar-filled breakfast to add to my slate of indulgences, so I was pleased that this upscale corner cafe offered a menu that included not only baked goods but also the option for a salad. Normalize eating salads for breakfast, I say. But what was more pertinent is that having passed up on the opportunity for an avocado toast or a Nutella tartine or a nice-looking pastry spread, the salad didn't disappoint by comparison. Freshly prepared, it delivered a variety of flavors and a sweeter dressing than I would normally like, but one which works as a counter to the delicate but butter kale. A relaxingly spiced chai latte completed my breakfast. It was definitely an upscale price, but if your question is whether it's worth it spending for a quality breakfast, on the evidence of my visit, I say yes. read more

Here's my breakdown: Pros: -It's close to my apartment -The food is pretty good, but kinda pricey -They have indoor seating The cons: -They seem to be completely befuddled by tea. They couldn't tell me what kind of green or black tea they had. Not a huge deal, but then when I ordered a back tea they gave me green. Another time I ordered a chai latte and it took 20 minutes because they forgot to make it. When I finally got it, it was basically warm cinnamon milk. Not worth 6$ with tip. -They turn the wifi off on weekends -My partner's coffee was burnt af If you're going for food, Musette is nice. But if you're looking for a place to work or get a cup of tea, try Lucky Goat. Super grateful to have a place like this in fairmount! By the vast demand and lines out the door you can tell that it has been ovedue. The coffee that I got had spoiled milk. It is not the first time I have ordered a coffee with spoiled milk and I recognize it can happen but when I sent it back and asked for a new one the barrista told me that the milk was definitley not spoiled. Okay....I guess. He begrudgingly gave me a new coffee and I put the milk in myself from where the help yourself things were and round two (without the spoiled milk) was better. My experience here is limited to take-out, but it is a very cute place. It looks like it came straight out of Pinterest, with its minimal white walls and minimalistic decorations. They do have a few seats available and you can get some work done if you choose, but I wouldn't plan to have a big meeting here. I can't wait to come back to work and try some of their food next time! read more
