So, we didn't eat here. We walked in, it was busy, but there were a few tables open. There was a sign stating, that for courtesy for others, to claim a seat after ordering food. wife has been experiencing a huge arthritis flare up, and has a rough time standing for long periods of time, so I told her to get a table. As she was about to sit down, a member of the waitstaff told her not to and to order food first. I explained the situation, and his response was whatever- it's a rule. I pointed out that the policy was against federal ADA regulations. Nope. It's policy. Won't go back. As an aside, as long as Portland puts up with the order at the counter nonsense, the more places with the procedure will pop up. Horrible service! Half my food came out, the other half never came. At the 50 minute mark I got impatient and asked for a refund. They told me I'd have to wait another ten minutes before the manager would be there to issue the refund. They never apologize for missing half my Order which was only fried and a sandwich. Want to clarify that my rating has nothing to do with the food, I've never had a bad meal, but it does have everything to do with the customer service. Recently stopped in and ordered our food. Everything was going well until one meal came out and we reassured the waitress that we had one more plate that we were happy to wait for. 15-20 minutes go by and still no food, so we ask. Here's where I'm struggling to wrap my head around things. When we asked the waitress again if our food was on the way she said the employee at the register never entered the item, even after reading the order back to me, which I was sure to remind them of. Then I was told that if I wanted the rest of my meal I would have to pay for it again. Am I wrong by being a little put off by this? Was not sure why I was being asked to pay again for an item that was included at the register and ultimately never received. More than happy to be told that I am in the wrong here but I'm struggling to feel that I am. read more

We made a special trip to downtown Portland to try the biscuits and gravy that looked so tempting online. My husband is a big fan of biscuits and gravy so he always seeks out this dish when we travel. He felt it was okay, but the gravy has an unexpected flavor that he was not fond of with the sausage and biscuit. I had the biscuit with chicken, cheese, bacon and house made apple butter. This is the same combination I like at my biscuit place at home. it was okay, the apple butter was super sweet and the biscuit a little on the dry side so it was a little hard to eat. Coffee was okay but they ran out and we did not really want to wait around for new coffee to be brought out to get a refill. Overall service was super fast and friendly and if we happened to be in the area again we would stop by, but not really worth going out of the way for again. read more

They have amazing Covid protocols in place at this location. It's located right around the block from my new apartment, and so far, I have not been disappointed. The Reggie Deluxe is usually my go to, but then I saw that they have Chicken Pot Pies! I picked one up the other day for myself and my boyfriend and it was amazing. The crust was flakey and delicious, and the filling was everything it should be. If you are in a hurry, keep in mind with Covid, everything is taking longer. Call ahead, and they will have your order waiting for you. Don't forget to grab some of that apple butter, yum! read more

Pine State Biscuits was great! With the COVID measures it was confusing on where to order & where to go. The meals were delicious & kind of heavy. Perfect for a hangover breakfast. The gravy was great! We all finished our food. The only complaint was they almost forgot our cinnamon roll. We got the Bourbon glaze cinnamon roll & you can taste the bourbon!! Eh. I've always heard of Pine State Biscuits as a Portland staple, but I was underwhelmed. Biscuit was dry and chicken was dry. The honey, mustard seed, and pickle combination was weird and soaked the dry biscuits until they were soggy. You can see in the picture the dish was pretty much uneatable until completely deconstructed because it is so obnoxiously big. Left the bottom biscuit and threw it in the trash. Service was eh. Tables were dirty and missing water. Haven't been to other locations, but not sure if I'll ever return to this business in general. read more

Unfortunately I have to give this a one star even though the food is delicious. The customer service was awful. I did an order online and was trying to do a pick up. It took more than 30 minutes to try to find a parking spot to where I was about to just give up and let them keep the food. I called and talked to the hostess or whom ever answered the phone and she informed me that there was parking at the library even though it was illegal it would be OK for me to just do it for a few minutes. So if I get a ticket will you pay for it? I'm not going to do that and you should definitely find someway to accommodate for people that pre-pay their food and just want to pick it up during their lunchtime. When I got into the store to get my food she was absolutely evil to me and threw me my bag of food while she was talking to a different customer and flirting with him. I will never go back here again and I will make sure that everybody knows what horrible customer service I had at this specific Pine State biscuits location. popped in for a quick bite. I am familar with the brand - just hadn't been to this location. I was between bus rides, so timing was a bit of a factor. I sorta just walked and kind of stated I wasn't something simple to take to go, cashier/server mentioned a few things, then brilliantly said I could just get a bacon, egg, cheese sando- like yes! perfect. Terrible experience. My party of 3 sat down at 11 and didn't get our food until 12:40. They brought our drinks within 15 minutes so I know they had our order. I understand that restaurants are working through COVID but the service was unacceptable. Everyone that sat down and ordered their food after us received their food before us (same size and bigger parties) Unfortunately you have to pay and tip before you sit down. We would have left the restaurant but we already paid for the meal. The food was good and always has been but I never had this experience at any of the other locations. It progressively got busier after we arrived but there was plenty of seating for us. The staff were super nice and the food was good. This review is based off of the terrible service we received. Went to Pine State with 3 friends and all ordered separately. All our friends received their food about 15 or 20 minutes after ordering, really decent wait times at first. But my boyfriend and I continued waiting for around 45 minutes before we asked them about our simple order, we had also ordered drinks for while we wait and hadn't received those either. We were standing across from the to go window the entire time and when we asked the staff working the front of house about our order he said the drinks had been ready the whole time and told us "Have you been here the whole time? I guess I forgot what you guys looked like immediately." He said he'd check on our order and we continued to wait at least 10-15 more minutes before asking again about our order. He then told us the hash browns in our order take about 30 minutes to cook, which ended up being a lazy excuse. We waited at least another 10 minutes before checking on our food again for him to tell us that he couldn't find the order at all. We waited over an hour and it took the staff member that long to realize the order was missing. We finally received our food and were refunded for the meal, after all that the food was really tasty (ordered the moneyballs with a side of hashbrowns). But the bad organization and poor customer service made the experience pretty terrible. Thank you to the staff who helped get everything straightened out. read more

Food is most of the time good, but customer service isn't the best and if you place an order online for pickup be prepared to wait over an hour as I ordered food at 10 and wasn't ready until 11:27 and waited in line for pickup over an hour in the rain; no food is worth that. Also had to ask about the order twice and he could of just said it won't be ready for over an hour instead of saying their working on it. read more

Everyone comes for the biscuits but I loved the hash browns. Their hashups is basically a hash brown pancake doused with cheddar and mushrooms. It's very savory so you can't just take a bite. If that's not enough to bust your gut, order the gravy(both flavors) and drench it over your favorite carb whether it's fried chicken or a biscuit sandwich. You definitely need to get a biscuit and gravy dish b/c the name DUH! We had The Reggie Deluxe and Blueberry Cornmeal Pancakes. The Reggie Deluxe was so good. Gravy was full of seasoning and flavor and the biscuit had good texture. This is coming from a person who never had biscuits and gravy until 2015 (and I've never looked back). The pancakes were pretty good too. Just a standard yummy pancake - nothing stand out special about it but if you're craving something sweet, give them a try!
