Friendly, accommodating, clean, well stocked, comfortable, great views and relaxing are just some of the highlights of this wonderful spot. After a NOT so pleasant experience in Pagosa we happened across this gem. Our original plan to stay two nights turned into three and we were so sad we couldn't stay longer. The studio cabin had a fully stocked kitchen, cute decor and wood burning fireplace. The outside was equipped with a outdoor table chairs fire pit and BBQ. The staff was so friendly and personable. If you're looking for an amazing place to get away I'd suggest giving this place a try.

We were getting a bit tired of camping and the weather was looking a little wet so we decided to call around and see about getting a cabin for the night. The gal answering the phone got us set up with a reasonably priced cabin for the evening and accommodated our Labrador retriever for an extra $15. Check in was a breeze and we were very pleased with our cabin. All of the appliances work, the sheets and towels were soft and of high quality, and the mattresses were very comfortable. The cabin was clean and stocked with everything we needed in terms of dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. The view from our porch was lovely looking out at the lake and the other guests were friendly. A small general store up the road sells homemade sausages along with other essentials. We will definitely be back and will recommend this lodge to our friends.

If you are looking for a break from staying in hotels, this is the place, The lake is beautiful in May with the snow capped mountains. #16 cabin is perfect for 2. It was fully equipped with kitchen supplies. Just bring your own food. There is a grill and a small fire pit. Bring your own firewood or it is for sale at the front office. The staff is friendly and helpful.

    This is the amazing playground.

What can I say? Our stay at the Lodge was perfect! We stayed in cabin #10, a 2 bed/2bath cabin. It was literally spotless. Cleaner than any hotel room I have ever seen. Even the pine wood walls were free of dust! The gals that own and run the Lodge thought of everything for our comfort! Coffee maker, dish soap, all the dishes and cookware, hair dryers in the bathrooms. We don't have young kids anymore, but the playground here was crazy cool! Heated indoor pool too. Fireplace in the room and a portable firepit and a BBQ on the private deck. The cabins are not 5 star appointed with stainless steel appliances and granite tops.... but, we felt like we were at home! Thanks gals for a great stay!

Love this place! Spent Christmas here with the family and all stayed in three cabins. Santa Jeff came in on Christmas eve and brought elf Donna. These folks are so awesome! Kiddos had fun sledding, swimming in the indoor pool, and playing in the game room. The views are simply breath taking! We will be coming back in the summer or fall for sure!

A river meanders nearby as well as an easy walk to an incredible waterfall on property. Eric is the heart of this place (he cares for it as his own and is so detail oriented)(Emily is new and petty fantastic too). Special shout out to Holly (she made us feel so so welcome), Kelly. Alice, and John were fantastic as well. But all the staff are fantastic! This year especially. We've been several times and this was by far our favorite staff experience. Soaking under the stars in the hot springs is incredible as are the communal dinners. The road to get here can be a bit bumpy but once you arrive you quickly see it was all very well worth it. There is something incredibly special about Dunton.

I cannot say enough about how kind and helpful the staff were in helping us get cell service and internet and a comfortable place to wait the hours it took to get a tow truck and taxi service from the rental company. They researched ways to fix our car and provided information to help us find a way to get to Durango. They went FAR, FAR out of their way to help two people who weren't even staying with them. I can only imagine how they take care of their guests. The property is rich in natural beauty, and we hope to be able to actually stay here one day. We know we'll be in the kindest and most considerate of hands when we do.

We booked a King Suite. We didn't plan to use the kitchenette but we appreciated having the extra space to spread out. The bed was comfortable and overall the room was clean. When we stayed there was not maid service other than trash pickup and a towel refresh. The hotel has a hot breakfast that starts at 6:30am. We appreciated the convenience of a quick bite to eat before heading out for our daily adventure. Overall breakfast was satisfying. We particularly liked the tortilla, egg, bacon and potato casserole dish. The hotel is located several miles from historic Durango where many of the town's popular restaurants and shops are located. We were fine with driving to historic Durango but there are some hotel options that are within walking distance of the historic district. As far as amenities, the hotel has a gym, indoor pool and hot tub and guest laundry. The laundry room was clean and had two "speed queen" washers and two dryers. The wash cycle was a speedy 23 minutes but the dry cycle was more like 50 minutes. I definitely appreciated being able to wash our hiking clothes before heading to our next destination. One thing that really impressed me about the hotel is that I left an item behind and they called me to let me know. I stay in a lot of hotels each year and although I don't leave stuff behind too often, I don't think many of them would take the initiative to call a guest about a lost item. A few minor nits - there was leftover drinks and food in our fridge from the previous guest that I thought house keeping should have cleared out. Also, the sodas in the vending machine are expired. One Diet Coke I got expired four months ago and the other Diet Coke I got expired six months ago. The irony is that the hotel is located next to the Coca-Cola distribution plant.

This was slightly confusing upon our arrival, but we figured it out. Upon our arrival (those of us who are on time), were greeted by Amber! She caught onto our family banter quickly and went through the Do's & Don'ts. There were 50 of us, so we certainly needed this. The Lodge is spacious and multiple beautiful views. I watched the sunrise over the mountains on the spa balcony every morning. A great way to prepare yourself for the chaos of a family reunion, and just Be for a moment! The Lodge had plenty of space for eating together, games and we even put on a talent show! The game room and dining area were the most used. We had ages from 4-months to old AF, and everyone enjoyed themselves. The Lodge is in close proximity to Purgatory, Bears Ranch (horseback riding), trails, water leisure, and a local bar, The Nugget. The "queen" bed a little smaller than pictured, but was okay for the price. Overall, missing a few things like paper towels, ice, coffee, and some items/ pillows in need of updating.
