A very negative experience for a young minority celebrating my birthday I just won $300 and the machine malfunctioned they even reviewed the surveillance camera however they were unable to see what the bonus win was. It's funny because with today's technology we can read the time off the face of a watch from outer space. This is definitely a place for locals and not blacks. I've urinated more than $300 away but it's the principle. I find it interesting how they're able to observe from the security camera every single detail except for what my bonus wheel landed on which was the major jackpot for $300.00. This was our first Sky Ute Resort experience and I was impressed with our weekend stay. The Seven Rivers restaurant is excellent in service and food from appetizers to dessert. Every hotel staff member from the front desk to gift shop to the event center are friendly, polite and truly value their service to guests. I noticed every detail is covered and well thought out: smooth luggage carts, several food options available and well staffed, rooms are clean with plenty of towels, rooms have plenty of lighting, great security for elevator access from lobby to room floors, even the gift shop has every item I forgot to pack. I love the soothing flute music in hallways. Housekeeping staff work quietly and efficiently on the floors. Well done everyone. I also enjoyed the beautiful rural drive to and from Durango. So pleasant and relaxing. I will recommend all my out of town visitors to stay at Sky Ute instead of downtown Durango. Definitely worth the short drive. We will be back. If I could give zero stars, I would. Extremely poor service, unprofessional. I'd like to report the security staff I came in contact with named Timothy. It's disgusting that the tribal council thinks this person Timothy is suitable to hold any position at a casino, let alone deal with responsibility such as security. I asked to speak to management and got handed this piece of work, an incompetent named Timothy..what a joke.! When I asked where is the manager to speak too, he said I have an attitude problem. Wow!! This person is not a manager, and if so, he needs several work ethic evaluations. He surely is not credited with any merit to hold such a position. Upper management, Please check your cameras and listen to the way he speaks to customers, an extreme racist with derogatory comments. Gross! Im completely offended by the treatment we received. If you are going to Sky Ute casino, be aware that the hours posted on the website are NOT the hours that the casino is open during the week. We were there recently on a weekday and the casino closed at 10:00 p.m.! What casino closes at 10:00 p.m.? And forget food if you want dinner on a Monday or Tuesday. The Rolling Thunder grill is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so you cannot get dinner here. Rolling Thunder has also cut its menu drastically and favorite items are no longer available. Sky Ute has also the Steakhouse is only open Wednesday through Sunday. The cafe is only open for breakfast and lunch. If you are a smoker, go outside to smoke - and there are not any heaters outside - so freeze! I've heard many complaints from other patrons at the casino. My family of 3 went here for an impromptu 2 night getaway (from northern NM). The accommodations were just fine and cleaned.. we don't gamble so I have nothing to say about the casino. We bowled, played putt putt, swam (that pool sure could use a monthly scrubbing though), and played games in the arcade. All was fun & exciting for us and we had a great time. The breakfast cafe had good food and good prices with pretty great service. The fine dining restaurant was delicious with great service, our server catering to our 10 year old was icing on the cake . The other restaurant though.... We arrived at 8:36. The server who sat us said they close at 9 and I told her we were happy to order quickly and get out of her hair. She was very nice and told us not to rush ourselves. Then.. other people wanted to eat too. It was nearly 5 til 9 (closing at 9 means ordering food up until 8:59 at every restaurant I've ever worked at) and this woman comes out from the kitchen screaming and berating a managerial type woman at the host stand in front of many patrons. She was yelling about how "f***ing ridiculous" it is to still seat people and she wanted to go home. Then when she retreated back to the kitchen, the male kitchen staff glared at patrons through the window muttering foul insults, audible to all. Then our food came. Burger (ordered medium-well) was so well done it was basically jerky. Everything was equally awful and felt like on purpose. Maybe find some staff who actually want to work? Server was amazing, always with a smile and she didn't give into the bullcrap. And if I were the manager, that kitchen staff both would've been fired on the spot. We have been to the bowling alley at the resort many times and have never had problems there. The staff has always been very helpful and friendly. Recently we decided to try the casino and interacted with very friendly staff on the floor. However when we got to the bar for a drink, you would have thought we wanted their first born child. The bartender was extremely disrespectful and short with us and made some comments about our luck on the floor. She seemed to be pissed to be at work and took it out on us. read more

This place is a beautiful undiscovered gem! Everything is clean and up to date and the staff is very helpful. The bowling alley was a pleasant surprise especially for the price. It was about the cheapest fun we had on our trip. I believe it was $6.00 a game counting shoes. We didn't gamble so I can't review that section. All the restaurants except the bowling alley work on modified hours so be sure you are ready for pizza, burgers and fries. Apparently smoking was a problem but not anymore. I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff made my experience. The barista at the cafe downstairs remembered not only my name but my order on DAY 2 of my meeting her. Additionally, the casino staff were very nice and accommodating and the food was not bad either. I went to Rolling Thunder for dinner and got some A-OK carnitas in a taco salad. I stayed at the hotel and my non-smoking room did not smell like tobacco. The hot tub was appropriately hot, the gym facilities were nice, and the views were really great from the fifth floor. Hotel rooms were nice, with great bathrooms. I had a balcony but the door was locked and I could not open it, so that was a bummer. I don't gamble so no tips about the casino. The public spaces do allow smoking, so that was a negative for me. I drank a beer and watched finals (basketball) in the sports bar, but had to leave before the game was over due to the heavy smoke atmosphere. The second night, our group had drinks in the bar next to the Seven Rivers restaurant, and there was not as much smoke there. It was a nicer atmosphere since there were no smokers and no tvs. Overall, a pleasant experience. I recommend this hotel. read more

This is actually a review of the RF PARK, and more specifically, the Park Camp Hosts, Bill and Judy. We checked into the park on 8/25 and checked out on 9/6. We were pleasantly greeted by Bill who helped my husband maneuver our 65' of motor home and trailer into a spot safely. Then we discovered we didn't have a water hose; no problem--Bill to the rescue with a water hose. Then Judy came over with the golf cart and drove me to the casino to check in. Not only that, she showed me around the casino: the restaurants, the sports book, the pool, laundry facilities, etc. Both Bill and Judy are quite the asset to the Resort's RV Park and we sincerely hope they get the kudos they so very much deserve. We truly enjoyed our stay there. They were amazing and by the way, the park was quite nice, clean, and quiet! We didn't spend time in the casino other than doing laundry. read more

Bottomline at one time they were the best place for entertainment in the Four Corners area. But at some point they meaning the owners or who ever runs the place stopped caring about their costumers. Because they already made enough of your money. Now they don't to worry about making us happy or providing someplace in the Four Corners area that is open for people. Now they have a big hotel that is a waste. Because why would you have a casino in a hotel that closes every night. And they shut down the popular cafe they had before that everyone ate at. instead they have a dinning area that's NOT as convenient and hours that don't include everyday of the week. I really think this is the start of a big decline for this casino. From here on out they will continue to cut back on all services. And someday after they ran all the customers off with changing hours and declining guest services. They will have what the wanted and that isn't business from you or me. And they will blame it on covid or whatever. Bottomline back in the day when they were a real casino that was open 24/7. And not just misleading with the words that they have free cokes on the floor 24/7. Because that's not even true they close the casino at absurdly early hours everyday of the week. Wo wants to drive all that way to have none of the services that they had in the past? Only time will tell. And Im not saying anyting bad of the staff they have. Came to stay here for an anniversary weekend and live concert. Booking: Booked on-line. Rather surprised that their on-line reservation process was so clunky. Almost like it was designed 10 years ago by an inexperienced programmer. Hotel was very full even though we were booking 6 weeks out (primarily concert goers, I was assuming). Had to book a smoking room, even though my wife and I are non-smokers. On the upside, our non-smoking preference must have been noted somewhere because I was asked if we wanted to convert to a non-smoking room as one had opened up. That's solid customer service. Room: Beautiful king-bed room in earth tones with an exterior balcony (about 1/2 the rooms seem to be set up with such balconies). Firm yet soft mattress. I slept better here than I do at home. Massive bathroom with separate shower and tub. In-room coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator. Sizable flat-panel, wall-mounted TV with the standard hotel selections. Bath products were a little over the top. Not shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion, but hair cleaner, hair masque, bathing gel and body emulsion. Despite the quality and size of the room, I still felt a little overcharged ($270 for two nights, but again, it might have been because of the concert, or maybe I am just cheap). However, I was able to knock $82 off the back end (see Players Club Card, below). Casino: Big, but not overly so. You can't get lost in it. Described as having 700 slots and 10 table games. I would have liked to see more variety of table games. Players Club Card (Bear Club): Easy sign up. First rewards after $10 in play. First level-up after $600 in play. And when you level-up the first time, the rack rate for rooms drops to $99 a night. You can even apply this retroactively to the stay you are on at the time of the level-up. It seems that everything at the resort, except rooms, can be applied as points to card. Continuous on-going promotions for club members. Need to play at least once every 18 months to keep account open. Bingo: Sizable bingo room, about 300 seats. Looked around but did not play. Some of those old ladies looked like the would have cut me if I sat down. Poker room: 5 8-seat tables. Tournaments Monday and Friday. Otherwise it is straight cash play. Was surprised to see only one table running on a very busy Saturday night. Guess poker isn't the big thing here. Willows Cafe & Bistro: Dinner menu: Decent Brisket Sandwich. French fries were thin cut and a little over cooked. My wife said the fried chicken was overcooked. Prices were about $2 per entree higher than you would pay at a restaurant out in the world. So, not unreasonable for a hotel restaurant. Sunday breakfast: Well appointed buffet, containing everything on the breakfast menu. If you want a big breakfast, go with the buffet at $10.50. If you want something specific, or cheaper, order off the menu. I did not care for the french toast. Whatever batter they are using left the exterior gritty, dry and unappetizing. I finished it, but ended up regretting doing so. Generally: If you are given a temperature option on something (eggs, steak, etc.), order one level less cooked than you normally would. Everything we ordered was just a little overcooked. Salon/Spa: Don't know as it was never open, despite it being a busy weekend and within the posted operating hours. Event space: Very nice large ballroom with collapsable bleachers that can be hidden behind partitions. Worked out very well for a low key rock concert. And yes, people do actually win here. Our flight out of Durango was delayed due to issues with the flight crew and weather, so we were compensated a room for the night at the Sky Ute Lodge and Casino! And let me tell you, we were happy to get it! One tip, plan a trip when there's a winter weather advisory, rooms are reduced to $49 a night (based on room availability)! Overview: The Sky Ute Casino, located 30 miles from Durango in Ignacio, was completed in constructed in 1993 and has had several expansions and remodels, with the latest finishing in 2008. The casino features 700 slot machines, 10 table games, 5 restaurants/cafés, 140 rooms, 6 luxury suites, bingo hall, 24 lane bowling alley, indoor pool, video arcade, banquet facilities, rental space, and even miniature golf! Our Experience: First off, the casino has a shuttle that runs to and from the Durango Airport, making this perfect for anyone in the area looking to fly out. They don't seem to have a set schedule as they sent someone out to pick us up after we called to confirm our room was booked. The lady (sadly I didn't catch the name) was very polite and helpful. The drive to the casino is very beautiful! As we arrived at the casino, we were amazed at the exterior design. It's a unique looking casino but very nice looking. We stepped in to hear the sounds of slots and game-play in the background. We were immediately greeted by the front desk staff. The check in process was very easy and they remained polite and helpful the entire time. They do charge your card for any damages that may happen while staying with them, but it does return after a few days. The rooms are fairly spacious and they offer smoking or non-smoking. We got a room with a king. The room was simple, not a lot going on. You had a bed, two night stands, a desk, two cushion chairs, and a tv mounted on the wall. The bed was a standard hotel bed, slightly stiff and "boxy" but I was plenty comfortable coming from a pillow-top bed. The bathroom was also fairly good sized, with a standing show and separate bathtub, open counter sink and large mirror. I loved the water pressure from the shower and the open space in the bathroom! There's a pretty good mix of restaurants/cafés. The 5 include: Seven Rivers, Willows Café Bistro, Willows Baja Grille, Rolling Thunder Grill, and Shining Mountain Café. Seven Rivers is a upscale steakhouse with a very classy atmosphere. They had a saxophone player playing the night we went and set the tone for a romantic evening...although we didn't eat at the Seven Rivers restaurant, we wished we had. Willows Café is just a simple coffee, pastry, and breakfast burrito place. Willows Baja Grille is a good place for breakfast and Southwest/Mexican food. We did eat at the Baja Grille for breakfast and enjoyed it! They also set up a breakfast buffet which was somewhat small, but also had your hot breakfast basics. We also had the Rolling Thunder Grill, which is located on the side of the slot area, with TVs to watch sports and games. The food is a wide range of items and mainly American-casual cuisine. We had some nachos for an appetizer and chicken fried steak. Both were delicious and the service was great! Lastly the Shining Mountain Café is your basic snack/fast food style food such as beverages, burgers, fries, but also includes some good southwest dishes as well, mainly for a quick stop and snack. We also experienced the bowling alley which was fairly busy (Saturday Night) but no wait. We also played a few slots, but didn't win any money. The casino does deals throughout the week, so be sure to check the day and what deal is going on. The gift shop is smaller than I would have liked. There is a lot more of the casino that we weren't able to experience but if it was like everything else we tried, I'm sure it was great! Overall, I highly recommend staying at the Ute Mountain Lodge and Casino! This place is amazing, although its distance away from Durango and other towns, it provides a great place to stay if just staying for the weekend or flying out the next day. The staff is very friendly, the restaurants are delicious, and a lot to do! The casino may be a little smaller for serious gamers, but with the wide range of slots and number of table games, you're sure to find a seat at a game you enjoy. Nice and new! We stopped in just to check out this place while on a road trip. We also stopped at the Ute Cultural Center & Museum next door. Both are pretty nice places. There are slots and table games. There is even a bowling alley in this facility. This resort also has RV parking in addition to rooms and suites. We didn't eat on this visit so I can't comment on that. I've visited many other tribal casinos.....this one ranks up there with being just as nice as the best I have been too, but just a little smaller in scale. read more

Played the machines, seems like they were constantly resetting them right after I played a machine, it was a weird experience. Did not have a good experience with the table games, either. Coming in there were guests who just walked right in without being scanned, I walked thinking there weren't taking temps, apparently one of the local natives called me out so loud it was embarrassing, I guess she didn't see the ppl in front of me, but man talking about ugly mugging a guest, I don't know what her problem was, local ute I guess, the ladies behind the hotel counter did not say anything, they were nice, but apparently Hitler walked in behind me, I don't think I'll come here again, that was embarrassing. read more
