Okay soooooo casino wise -- lots of great slots. Only a few tables. However, the slots are TIGHT as heck. Just plan to lose and you will be fine having fun. Boyfriend did better on the tables... that is par for the course. Front desk was initially a bit bristly but ended up being okay. He was worried about our service dog being just a pet initially but didn't question a whole lot. We arrived late without a reservation and the accommodated us easily. There is a pool area we saw while walking in but did not experience it first hand. We were downstairs but it was easy with the elevator. All housekeeping staff was very nice. Inside the shower they had an attached conditioner as well as a body/hair wash (unique) and the scent was light and fresh. The shower was large and I loved it. With real shower doors (you get bonus points for me with that). Hair dryer was in the room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was well appointed. Located on Indian reservation Ute Mountain Hotel is a nice find in a wilderness full of inns and dirty motels. Rooms are fantastic, clean and comfortable. Parking lot is safe. Although a casino there are strict rules about alcohol and drugs and they are heavy on security. Casino wise, it is a small casino dominated by slot machines. Restaurant is ok a bit disappointing but the hotel quality made up for it! read more

Rooms were well-priced, clean and nicely decorated. We planned to stay one night and stayed two. The bathroom sink was too high for me. I am just under 5'. The repeated signs in the lobby indicating that only hotel guests were allowed past a certain point or in a certain area made me worried. If that is the case, maybe a locked door that requires a room key? What happens here? Why all the notices? But the room was comfortable and we did not feel unsafe. The casino is fairly small but we had fun. Lots of security. Random people just hanging around and not actually gambling, talking or doing anything. Strange but unconcerning. Stayed in this casino hotel for one night when traveling back to Colorado. The room was very nice. We did not have any noise from the hotel. We tried the restaurant in the casino and the food was delicious and great prices for the food. Though we were there during a busy time and had a 15 minute wait but it was worth it. Casino was busy so we did not play any of the slots. Smoking is allowed in the casino area. But there is a nonsmoking area also. All the employees were helpful and very nice. Great service. Stopped to eat and play some slots for a couple hours. Ate breakfast, which was really very good. Walked around and found a couple slot machines to play. My husband started playing, but my machine was struggling to take any money. Finally got it to accept money when I noticed it was not givi g me credits for the money I put in the machine. Called for service, after a few minutes I went to find help. The woman was disgruntled from the start, as she was busy chatting with the security person. She never even asked where the issue was, just hand signaled me to move. She went to the slot machine, ran a report and told me I played all the money. I told her if I had, there would show a payout as there were 4 matching bars on the screen. She didn't show any concern, and wouldn't address me at all. Never said another word, just sat there at the machine saying you played it and lost. Won't be back, I know that won't matter to them. I work customer service, and it is lacking here in the casino. The employees at this casino have no hospitality at all. Me, my siblings, and my dad, decided not to stay there because of this. When we walked in , the strong smell of cigarettes was very overwhelming. A employee walked out from behind the front desk, looked at us and walked past us heading towards the casino area. We stood there for another minute and decided to leave because nobody was informing us. We ended up driving longer to get somewhere else instead of this place. read more

We stayed here for one night since the rooms in Cortez were a bit pricey: a king room here was $54 and tax. I'd requested a room on a high floor away from the smoke of the casino, and though we weren't able to check in early, they were able to accommodate the room request. The room had a nice outdoor balcony and a good sized bathroom. We did not partake of any of the resort amenities (had dinner in Cortez instead). The check-in area and rest of the building were pretty smokey. The wi-fi password that they issued to us stopped working after midnight, which was kind of annoying. The family decided to visit Four Corners monument and we stayed at Ute Mountain Casino in Cortez. Not many other choices yet this was a good one. It's easy to get to, lots of parking and our hotel room was very clean with a big shower. The casino allows smoking and it's very noticeable in the gaming area. There is a smoke free gaming area yet the majority of the main area of the casino is smoky. The rooms, fortunately, were smoke free. We did the buffet the night we came in and although it was late, the staff was very attentive and allowed us to sit in an area so our young kids could be loud. Speaking of the staff, everyone was extremely accommodating and polite throughout our stay. We always got a "hello" when they walked by and everyone was very helpful. We had a great time and would make a second trip if in the area again. read more

What may pass as an acceptable place on a reservation would barely pass muster in a gaming town. Customer Amenities-poor No place for a customer to hang their coat in winter months or riding jacket and motorcycle helmet during warmer months. No public wifi for non hotel room customers. Casino is full of a lot of cigarette smoke and ventilation system is non-existent. Free popcorn-nice feature but the lady who refilled it tonight (11/30) got visibly mad when I pointed out there were no bags left for the popcorn. In fact, she got so mad her entire body started shaking. No way to treat a customer. Slots: Poor payout. I go here once a week and like to gamble while waiting for an open table at the buffet. I've yet to see anybody win more then a couple of bucks. I blew thru $80 at a penny slot machine in less then 10 minutes. I think I would have had more fun putting the money in the toilet and pulling the flush lever. Couple this with atrocious buffet server experience, if you want to gamble and eat buffet, drive 80 miles to Farmington, NM and eat at the Golden Corral where you will gamble with gastrointestinal distress but at least enjoy the server experience! read more

Truck parking - 5 stars Huge parking lot. Clean. Patrolled by security. Well lit. Nice view. Cleanliness - 5 stars I didn't see even a shred of trash. Employees were patrolling the parking lot frequently, checking garbage cans. The store was immaculate. Food - 1 star $12 for a 4 oz cheese covered chunk of charcoal, with bacon that might as well have been pork jerky, on a bun, and undercooked fries, is juuuust a bit ridiculous. Friendliness - 0 stars It started at the front door. "Gatekeeper" (security guard) asked if I had a mask. I politely told him that I have a medical condition that prohibits me from safely wearing a mask, but he did not care. He took my temperature, which was well below the threshold of concern for possible Covid symptoms, (and that should have been proof that I was not a risk) and then made me wear a mask anyway. (Requiring someone who has trouble breathing to wear something over their face that reduces the amount of oxygen they need, because the carbon dioxide that is exhaled, recirculates and gets taken in again.... IS NOT LEGAL) So I just tried to make the time inside the store as short as possible. I still felt short of breath by the time I left. Food counter... I asked for Ketchup, and you would have thought that I was asking the woman for the keys to her car. I mean, who only uses 2 packets of Ketchup for an order of fries?? So I asked for more and she RELUCTANTLY gave me...... Wait for it..... 2 more packets. It was like she was taking money out of the register or something. So at this point, I just knew my visit was NOT going to get any better. So I decided to take my charcoal sandwich, soggy fries, and liquid gold (which was apparently what was in those four packets that the cashier reluctantly gave me) and exited the building, where I immediately removed my illegally mandated mask, and was finally able to breathe freely again. Overall experience..... Consider 2 stars a VERY generous gift. I will simply smile and wave, while driving by from now on. And I can't promise that I will be using all of my fingers when I do. read more

Unethical. We booked a room with them in June via Expedia and received a voicemail and email saying they were temporarily closed due to Covid. Ok, no problem, give us a refund, right? Wrong. We requested a refund and were denied. Despite the fact that this hotel was closed and could not provide a single service that we paid for, they are unwilling. We loved our stay. Lack of 5 stars for a couple of minor things... What casino doesn't have 24/7 restaurants. maybe just too small to justify? Rug in room was in bad repair and stained but clean as far as I could tell otherwise. The A/C vent in the bathroom was noisy, but closing the bathroom door made it almost to where one could not hear it. Value was great and we ended up winning enough to almost cover the room and our one meal there. They don't allow alcohol or other drugs on premises which wasn't a negative for me, but some might find that a negative. They do have a non-smoking slots room too which I liked being a non-smoker. TV included a lot of premium channels compared to others on our trip. Staff appeared to be 100% native american which I think is nice, given it is an Indian Casino, but unlike some other Indian casinos I've been to. Internet speed was VERY slow. read more

Based on Yelp reviews and photos online, I expected this place to be a total dump. Nonetheless, it was a perfect stopping point while we were driving in the area, so we spent the night. My first impression was terrible. It was early in the evening and there was only one person behind the desk. Between the phone ringing off the hook and the 2 people in front of us, it took like 20-30 minutes to get helped. To add insult to injury, I looked online while I was waiting in line and saw there were rooms available for $59, but the guy at the desk said all they had were $69 rooms. We ended up paying the higher price, because at that point why argue. Inside, the hotel rooms were clean and relatively decent looking. Definitely not like the old, moldy decor I was expecting to see. There are two casino floors, one smoking, one non-smoking. The smoking one was bigger so that's where we spent most of the time. We got a $10 gambling balance for the room and then we signed up for a reward card and got $10 more each. They also signed us up for the slots tournament, which was super fun, despite the fact that I didn't win. It was an easy grand for whoever did. In the end, we ended up making out with at least $70 from slots and roulette, which isn't bad for money that wasn't even our own. Now the downsides: there's no alcohol allowed. The pool was really small, though there was also a steam room and a hot tub. The food at the restaurant was appallingly bad. We did the buffet and everything was kinda cold and really disgusting. Other than that, I really can't complain. It's not the Venetian, but it's a decent place and really reasonably priced. read more

We needed a room on our way to Durango, Co. We stopped here & was pleasantly surprised. We ate dinner at the restaurant. I got the ribs & my husband got Shrimp Fettuccine. Both were delicious! The prices in the restaurant are very reasonable. We soaked in the hot tub. It was a very good hot tub. Our room was beautiful & clean. Nice mattress & sheets. The price point of our room was extremely reasonable. I can't believe we got a room so nice at the price point! We don't gamble, so I have nothing to offer on the casino. read more

Not happy with it at all. I've been here twice,. And both times had a bad experience. The first time we checked it out for lunch on the way to the grand canyon. A few slots and that's it. Apparently they have a few tables in the afternoons and evenings. Couple months later I decided to take a long road trip (4+ hours} to check out the couple of tables they have. The pit boss was completely rude and nasty telling me that they are all closed at 920 pm when the stated hours are until midnight. So disappointed to have made a trip for nothing. I didn't spend a dollar and I will not be back. They can keep the lame slot machines and I will be more than happy to support the other Colorado casinos long before I venture out there again. This used to be a nice place, with $60 rooms, great food, and they would put a few bucks on your club card to gamble. They used to have a beautiful southwest decor theme, with gorgeous sconces everywhere and a breathtaking carpet design. Well, they've renovated the place and completely missed the mark! The new design is a cold, bloodless, corporate joke, with ugly patterns and colors. The shower reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where his building installed low flow showerheads and everyone's hair went flat. I wouldn't normally even give a crap, but now the rooms are $80 a night, PLUS a $100 deposit on EVERY ROOM!!! Got a gold card with a million dollar limit? They don't care. $100 deposit. We stayed there one night while going to a family reunion in El Paso. The hotel is very clean and modern and actually very reasonable. If you are going to stay here during the week do not book online. Go to the hotel and ask. The rates were much lower if you stop by. Very nice large balcony with a fabulous view of Ute mountain. The restaurant was very inexpensive and the food was excellent. Do not stay here! This place totally ripped me off. I called to about room availability. The man on the phone told me that there were plenty of rooms. I asked how much a night would be. He quoted me $69.99. I asked whether I needed to make reservations. He told me that wouldn't be necessary. Upon my arrival, I was charged $99.99! I said that I spoke with someone earlier and he quoted me at $69.99. The man looked apathetic. He again told me the price was $99.99. If I didn't need to stay here after a long drive I would have found somewhere else to say. Moreover, I was also assaulted by some sort of bug. I left that place with at least five new bites. Driving up to the hotel/casino the entrance is very misleading. You have to pass the place to get to the entrance. The lobby is sort of dark and glommy-ish. Although, the staff was very friendly and accommodating when we asked for a room overlooking the mountain. We were hungry and decided to try out the restaurant within the casino. The casino area is a little confusing to navigate. But upon entering My girlfriend nearly gagged on the cigarette smoke. She has been to smoking casinos and around smokers before but this made her uncomfortable. She felt ill by the time We even sat down, it was so bad she vomited. At the restaurant I ordered a Native Taco. Which was AMAZING! The fry bread was delicious with traditional Taco toppings. My girlfriend got the 3 Taco Dinner with beans and rice. The rice and beans were tasty and tacos were mouthwatering. The room was the typical hotel room. Nothing too special, except the deck over looking the mountain. Which was great for a romantic sunsets. The TV was small and poor quality but had tons of stations. Also, while there we had a scammer call our room over 10 times in our 2 night stay. I was driving by and saw a sign outside that said their rooms were $39.99. I walked in and asked for the least expensive room and was told that they are 89.99. So I asked why they had a sign out that's they were 39.99, and was told that they are out of those rooms. So I asked what rooms they had left and I was told that they have single king, then I asked what the rooms that were advertised for $39.99 were and was told a different story now that they are actually same rooms, but they had less of then so they had to raise the price. Which is okay, but why have misleading advertising outside, just to lure people in and try to suck them of $50 more? Bad way to do business. read more

We made a stop at Uta Casino and Hotel on our way to Arizona! The rooms are spacious and have basic amenities, however, we were given a room right next to construction area and we couldn't open our windows, terrace or sleep in the morning. The staff is friendly, don't imagine a luxury casino or hotel. Also, I would not recommend the restaurant, food is very bad and I can eat literally anything! All in all a convenient stop! read more

We stayed 2 nights over Christmas to visit relatives. Room was cheap ($39.95) but great value. Very clean and well decorated and comfortable. Room included free-play for the slots and free wifi.
