Our view was amazing and we couldn't have been happier to spend our first night ever in Colorado at this location. When we checked in the staff was nice enough to escort us to our campsite so there was no confusion. We didn't setup our privacy tent since we were only staying one night so we used the bath house they had on site. They had several to choose from so you didn't have to worry about waiting in line for a shower or toilet. Also, they were all very clean and maintained well. The site for one night was a total of $41 with tax, and it was worth every penny. We highly recommend the stay! Thanks KOA!

Why didn't this happen earlier? I spoke to the cabin renter and he said he had no problem with the tent there. The RV patrol woman said he did,(BTW he was my cousin...) and he said no such thing... She was adamant about me moving it and wanted a confrontation which I wasn't gonna give her. I pointed out on the map they had given me that I put my tent where it was pictured and she said the map was wrong! I ended up moving my tent and she left angry and never showed her face for the remainder of my stay. She was so rude in front of my family and guests and other RV residents. No one could believe she made such a big deal over the tent location. Needless to say I will never stay here again, if they are gonna make up rules at their convenience!

This Forest Service Campground is a hidden gem. It is located on McPhee Reservoir in Colorado near…read moreDolores. To get here you have to go through Dolores. We only found it by asking the locals about a campgrounds on the lake. There are 2 campgrounds but only this one is right on the lake. We were there in the off season so there was no water or electric. Many of the sites have electricity and water is available in the campground. It also has a dump station. I believe you could get a motor home of about 40 feet into many of the sites. The campground also has a 4 lane boat launch. Some other campers wanted to know how we found it as we are from Washington State. We told them we had asked around. They said it was hard to find for those that didn't already know about it. This campground is under utilized and under advertised. You need to know the name of it to find it on the internet. I found it on Reserve America site. We were here in mid September and they had one loop open. Reserve America said it was closed for the season. The sites are reservable from Memorial Day through Labor Day. After that it is first come first serve and the water and electric are turned off. We arrived on a Sunday and by mid day we were the only campers in the campground.

It looks like just an RV place but their small (about 5 spot) but beautiful tent sites were great! The owners were more than accommodating showing us where we could shower, use a kitchen sink and do laundry. We had the whole place to ourselves. Definitely would stay here again.

The spot was nice and had plenty of room, the only downside was that the sewer hook up was elevated and near the middle of the site so I had to pull up when leaving to get to it. Since it was elevated I had to use orange blocks and the sewer track to get things working. The rest of the site was nice and the restrooms and showers were clean and worked great. Unfortunately we had to drive down to Santa Fe so we missed the burro fest in downtown the day we checked out, it looked like a load of fun.

There's definitely some good shady spots on the campground with the shade which is nice. It has bathrooms and a laundry and a little shop. The cabin itself is nice, although I did have a couple of gripes about it. But first for the nice parts. 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom. It was nice and clean and kept up. Good size kitchen. It's an old stove/oven with electric top so just something to keep in mind. It's rustic looking too. For the negatives I have 2. The MAIN negative for me and the 3 others I stayed with is no A/C at all. I understand it gets cold here in other parts of the year, but when I went, mid July, it's almost 100 degrees outside and it gets really toasty in the cabin, to the point where you're sweating and it's uncomfortable. Just a little window a/c unit would go a long way here. I'd be willing to pay more for the cabin for the a/c unit too. When you're outside in the heat all day, it would be nice to come back to a cabin that has a/c to get some relief. And the other negative is the mattress. Suuuuper springy. Me and my wife laying in the bed and it's springiness had us both rolling into the middle of the bed all night, every night. And the couch mattress is all springs too. Besides that everything is good, just beware of all the mosquitoes that are here, there's a ton so bring bug spray!

This is a beautiful campground/RV park with some very nice amenities. The RV sites have full…read morehookups, level gravel pads, a cement area with picnic table and and a grassy area. The campground has many trees. The Delores River runs through the campground, and there are two fishing ponds for kids. There are about 10 cabins, a yurt, and a nice tent camping area; one of the tent sites is river front. They have two small airstream trailers for rent. There is a river walk and an awesome dog walk, doggie bags provided. There is a gift shop, nice large rec room, playhouse and horseshoe pit. The laundry room was clean; $1.50 to wash, $1.50 to dry. This is one of the nicest RV parks I have stayed at, but what keeps it from being 5 star is the water. The drinking water has a dirty, almost moldy smell. I thought it might have been our water hookup, but I noticed the smell when I washed clothes in the laundry room. There is a sign in the laundry room warning users not to use chlorine bleach, because it reacts with the natural minerals in the water and may stain the clothes. Must be the minerals causing the bad smell. Bottom line, bring your own drinking water.
