Was here on a three night camp out watching the kid play in a baseball tournament. Great location in town! Camp site 106 was what was assigned to us. It rained a lot while we were there, watch where you set up your gathering area outside your tent or camper or you may get a little flooded (Bad planning on our part). One other thing the WiFi didn't work too good in our area. Otherwise the amenities and facilities are good and clean. Good management. If I need to camp here again I'm sure to be back. read more

My husband and I stayed here for one night because we were passing through to get to Ouray. We really enjoyed our stay and we're bummed that we only got to stay one night. Our view was amazing and we couldn't have been happier to spend our first night ever in Colorado at this location. When we checked in the staff was nice enough to escort us to our campsite so there was no confusion. We didn't setup our privacy tent since we were only staying one night so we used the bath house they had on site. They had several to choose from so you didn't have to worry about waiting in line for a shower or toilet. Also, they were all very clean and maintained well. The site for one night was a total of $41 with tax, and it was worth every penny. We highly recommend the stay! Thanks KOA! read more

Absolutely great campground. But that has always been my experience at a KOA. You have your friendly service, well kept sites, full RV hookups that are big rig friendly, pool and amenities. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The serious stone driveway scared the @#$% out of me on my motorcycle. This is your KOA if you are planning on seeing Mesa Verde. It is also not too far from Durango. There is some great ATVing at a local state park as well. Remember, its Kamping, not Camping. :) read more

Clean clean clean. The spots are mostly gravel but they come to the site in the am and clean out the firepit from the night before. The bathrooms and pool are right in line for a great Koa. They serve a local winery in the gift shop. Nice touch. read more

NOT Big-Rig or People friendly. Especially if you are a women! Staff continually parked guest next to us so we could not get our 45' motorhome out of the 'big-rig pull-thru site.' Told staff of propane leak at neighbor's rig. Staff member just drove on by the site. When called to the site he said it was new tires - it WAS a propane leak that required work, btw. When same staff member questioned on if he kept parking rigs that blocked us in, he shook iphis head in disgust and drove away. Discuused propane leak with office staff. Was told I was being 'rude, acted like a five year old' and was directed to return to my campsite. When husband went ot office to discuss egress issue with same service staff member, requesting thet inspect the situation, the request was ignored. Got brushed off with a bunch of OKs. Do not stay here - esp if you are a female. Staff members do not like being questioned or learning of propane leaks. Stay at the UTE casino or Sundance RV park. You can get out of there and maybe the staff treat you like a valued customer. read more

A really nice campground, sites are gravel relatively level. Staff very accommodating, due to bad weather our group had to stay here an extra 2 days they were able to get sites for all of us. Sites have some smaller shade trees The restrooms are clean as was the laundry. Nice little camp store with souvenirs from the area. Normally KOA's are some of the better run rv parks but not this one. We booked 3 full hookup sites 6 months in advance yet when we checked in they didn't have our sites. Instead they assigned us 3 sites with water and electric only out in the South 40. Not even any trees. When we pitched a bitch they relocated us to some sites with trees but still no dump facility. When we arrived a fellow who came a day early was being assigned a full hookup site. There are plenty of other rv parks available so in the future we will give this one a pass and we recommend others do the same. We were treated like crap. read more

Upon finding out we had an extra day left in traveling we decided to stop into Mesa Verde! The KOA in Cortez/ Mesa Verde is nothing short of the greatness you expect with a KOA! Very friendly staff, let us park when we arrived even though a little early! Nice clean facility, pool, playground, dog area. Also great size spots for our extra large rig! Very accommodating and inexpensive! Great spot to stop in if visiting the area! read more

We stayed a week in Cortez and chose the KOA for it's location and amenities. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by perhaps the most friendly KOA staff I've ever met! They provided us some great info about the local area, pointed us to the dog park located adjacent, and set us up in a great site. The bathrooms and showers are clean and the water is hot. The view from our site (108) was gorgeous. While many people came and went during our stay, they didn't place anyone right next to us. We had ample space for our trailer and truck. The campground was quiet thanks to being off the main highway. There's an awesome 3 acre dog park right next to the campground. The owners are very dog-friendly have set up "clean-up bag" stations around the campground. We will definitely stay here again. read more

What an amazing place. The caretakers were stupendous. Like other reviews, they actually cared about our stay not just how much money we could spend. If the campground itself isn't great enough, the views are spectacular! Our little camper is only 12 feet so we never have a problem with pull through spaces and/or ones where we have to back up. But there didn't seem to be any issues with the monster coaches and 5th wheels We didn't get a chance to use the pool or peruse the gift shop but it all looked great. The bathrooms and showers were clean with great water pressure. Having a 3 acre dog park and huge walking area for us and our pets is just a bonus. Two reasons it didn't get 5 stars. 1. The sewer hook up was really far from the water and electric, like we needed an extra 10 feet of hose. 2. The width between spaces wasn't a lot. We stayed with family who have a modest 23' and their slide out was really close to their neighbor's. I noticed the same with other monster coaches. Again, NOTHING in here is a deal breaker. You will spend less at other places in the area but you WILL NOT get the same service, quality and view. read more

The worst KOA I have ever stayed at. The man working the check in desk was rude from the beginning and the place was empty. The bathrooms were not kept up and falling apart. We were accused of trying to sneak into a campsite after we paid. We were chased out of our campsite 8 minutes after 10:30 by an evil Santa in a golf cart. One of the faculty members snuck into our camp when we were sleeping to take down our "license plate information" and later admitted to it!! Which he had in the beginning so we really don't know what he was doing or looking for. I called KOA corporate office to let them know how unhappy I was and apparently this wasn't the first complaint out of this place. Do yourself and family a favor just stay away!! read more

First the good: The man who checked us in was nice and friendly. Also, this place is super clean. Immaculate. Now the bad: This place is unfriendly towards kids. At no other KOA have I seen that children under 14 need a parent to supervise them in the game room. The game room at other KOAs has nothing but kids in it. Here ... Nobody. Also there is the unfriendly vibe of the employees posting "no trespassing" signs at their campsites. I've never seen that before. How obnoxious. What if everyone put up no trespassing signs at their camps? I don't see it at KOAs or forest campground hosts. Not anywhere. I'm guessing this place must have trouble with vandals or crime because there are also video cameras watching you for security purposes everywhere. The kids camped next to us got yelled at (rudely) for climbing a tree. This KOA is next to an animal shelter so the night we stayed we could hear one yapping dog All. Night. Long. Unlike other KOAs I don't think this is a great place to hang out, but good if you just want a clean place to sleep and shower and then then move on. If you are in a tent bring your ear plugs. read more

This is a beautiful KOA! It's an old KOA but doesn't feel like it. It is so well maintained, even our 2 kids commented about how nice it is! Staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. We thought the West Yellowstone KOA was an excellent KOA but we think we like this one even better. It doesn't have an indoor pool in a lodge but it does have a big enough pool to have an 8' deep end - which was very exciting to our older kids. The view of the mountains from our site is spectacular! The 3 acre City dog park is just down a well maintained trail and is so nice! I can keep gushing but, bottom line is, this is a top notch KOA! read more

Beautiful mature trees throughout except at the trailer sites. All inner sites are "buddy" sites with the trailer next to you. You share a common area so if you want a private site you need to snag the end sites. I also recommend getting the sites on the south side of the campground. They have a beautiful view of the mountains. Pool is heated to average temp (approx. 80degrees F). Could be warmer for the kids. It's small and gets as deep as 8 ft (crazy)! Well-maintained. The bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. Dog park is actually the city dog park that the campground connected a pet walk to. It's one huge park with no separation for little dogs. There's a large grass area and then an even bigger "nature" s cation that is mainly tall weeds you could lose your dog in. It's an awesome space. Simple with a picnic bench under a shaded tree. read more

This was our 2nd campground on our Big Southwest Trip and what a nice place. They showed us to our pull through campsite that over looked a field or pasture, told us about the Owl that was nesting and would occasionally fly over and that deer had been coming up to the tent sites. We arrived right before dusk, got set up and fixed dinner. Each sight has a grill over the fire pit, we were in an RV and needed water and electricity. Bathrooms were clean and well lit. It would have been really nice if we had been able stay more than one night but there were many places to see and things to do. We would definitely recommend this campground for others traveling in that area. read more

Absolutely the worst KOA I've ever stayed at between Washington to Texas! Staff is very rude and inconsiderate because after arriving late after driving 18 hours all I wanted was sleep. So the next morning they're pounding on my rv at 10:30 am telling me it's check out time or I need to pay another day! Me being grouchy from being woken up by the rude knocking I respond with "I haven't decided if I was to stay another day, I'm going back to sleep for a couple hours then I'll decide ". Then he said he'd give me an hour to decide. The next thins I know an hour later there is a sheriff knocking on my door asking me to leave! read more

One of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed in and we do this full time !! The scenery is second to none, service wonderful, town of Cortez a gem. Wifi fast, sites big and clean, the lake to walk around is an extra ten points ...excellent spot to be to explore this diverse and interesting area. You need a week to do the exploring comfortably. Absolutely an outstanding RV park can accommodate all sizes of campers even saw a 42 foot motorhome pull in with no problem. We were greeted with open arms very informative staff and they personally escort us to our site and ensure that we were hooked up. Very knowledgeable of the local surrounding areas. Only 15 minutes from the Mesa Verde Park which is a must stopping here. If u want to know where a good restaurant is just ask the two brothers who own the campsite. The camp store is well stocked with the basic amenities and they have a great selection of movie rentals for only $4 a night. Park is very clean and nice and spacious. Beautiful, well-maintained park. A bit set back from the highway on its own private drive, so no road noise. Set beside the Denny Lake. Very clean, very organized, paid and volunteer staff are very friendly. We stayed two days and enjoyed both. They are 15 minutes away from Mesa Verde National Park (9 miles) The park is gravel roads and sites, but landscaping is meticulous and very well done. I was tempted to leave a 5 star but our site was NOT level. If it was a slight bit it wouldn't be an issue, but it was 2-3 inches off. Most sites have nice big, unobtrusive shade trees, unfortunately they were taken, but they sure looked nice. The pool was very nice and very clean. My family swam and the maintenance man came by to close it up at 8pm. It was just us and he said he would do other things and be back, affording us an additional 10 minutes of fun. That was very kind! I would recommend this place and will likely choose again if in the area. Most unfriendly camp ground I have been to. We came through during a storm and needed to fill up our potable water. I stopped in and asked to fill, not to mention they charge an overpriced $10 just to fill water. When we got to the area to fill up water it started to down pour outside. I decided to wait in my RV until the thunder storm slowed down before filling my water tank. Just as as it started to let up they came outside and told us "you need to leave now". We were paying customers yet they made us feel like we were imposing on them. There are 10 open spots next to me while i was filling my water so I didn't understand why they were so rude, we weren't causing them any delays. It was thunderstorm outside and NO ONE was coming in. They wind the most unfriendly camp ground in Colorado. I don't recommend staying at this overpriced campsite to anyone. read more

Check out is at 10:30 and the bathroom are closed from 10-12 AM. They actually give you attitude if you try to use them during that time. Tent camping is shadeless and grassless and down a steep hill. It is far from all the amenities but still costs $34. The playground has zero shade and the slide is metal. It's HOT in July! Was not worth the money. read more

No complaints about this KOA. Clean, roomy sites, friendly staff, and good pool area. The laundry room had a broken unit, and the women's bathroom had a broken faucet in the shower (which caused an awkward naked shower stall switch). It's a fantastic distance from Mesa Verde National Park. We would definitely stay here again. read more

Great Experience... We had great encounters with the staff from questions before reserving to daily encounters. Upon arrival they offered us a better site then what was originally reserved. (The new site had one of our requests and fit our little camper amazing). They pointed us in the direction of the National Park, Denny Lake and things in Cortez. The campsite, let alone the grounds were clean and well taken care of. They came through the sites in the morning and cleaned out the fire pits. They always greeted us with a smile and light conversation. The campground was full yet quiet in the evenings (all except one night when a group of adults were shouting and laughing past 1100). I would recommend and stay again. read more

Nice view quiet a lot to like but after a three day stay we asked to stay one hour past check out time.Now understand the place is empty tons of open spaces. The owner says absolutely not !!! we have a business to run... No problem we will be gone. News flash we were about to book for three weeks next summer. I'm sure the campsite is nice, but the camp host was very rude. I'm traveling alone with 3 young girls. My car broke down twice on this trip. We tried to get hold of them, which they never answer or return calls , first to see if they could help us find a tow truck, and if not, then to let them know we couldn't make it and the spot would be open and not hold it for us. But since they find answering the phone so difficult they didn't rent the spot, which he blamed me for the loss of not being able to rent it, and in response to the message my husband left them about seeing if they could help at all, I was told, "we're a campground, not a tow service". On this trip I've met some wonderful people who have helped make the struggles easier, and tolerable. Sad to say, he was my breaking point. read more

We got in late and set up camp. We were woken up at 5:45 by a employee in a gold cart 3 feet away from our tent checking our car to see if we had registered. At 7am we were woken again by another camp host and were told our tent couldn't be on the grass. we needed to move it for him to water it. All around typical chain corporation campground. Super nice KOA welcome when I arrived. I arrived as he was closing the door and he was nice to orient us to the place. The cabin was clean, campsite clean. It had a small fire pit with bbq attached that was dirty. Had a water spigot in each cabin site. The closest bathroom and showers were about 150 feet away from cabin and cabin D was one of the close ones. There was a flat screen TV in the cabin and i would have gladly traded it for a microwave. They had a perfect counter space for one. I have to say i will come back after they have built deluxe cabins with bathrooms, microwaves and refrigerators. I have no use for a TV while enjoying colorado scenery. read more

What a great place with some outstanding hosts! We pulled in and treated like they really wanted us there... it wasn't run as a business... but like a family owned park. The sites were great... level and a view like no other! Showers were super clean and there were plenty of dog bags with dumps for the dog owners. I would highly recommend this spot! I stayed here for one night in one of the cabins. I called and asked for one with a view of the mountains, and wow, it was a great view. The host was really accommodating of me getting in late at night. The cabin was clean, and it had a seat and firepit outside. There was more than enough parking room. The bathrooms were clean, but had funky music playing at all hours. If I stayed here again, I'd get a primitive campsite, or a cabin or tent site facing the mountains. read more

I wish there was an option for -53727 stars. We arrived around 12:30 am after a full day of off-roading in telluride. We were tired and wanted a nice place to stay after 2 failed campground attempts before. We drove around the campground once to make sure that there was a campground big enough for our 3 rigs to stay the night. We made our round and then went around again to park the rigs in an RV spot. We went up to the main office for the "late night registration". There was a list of "available spots" and you had to fill out an envelope to pay for it. Well, the campground we parked in was not on this "available list" so we did not know what to do. We filled out the envelope as much as we could and were just going to go back first thing in the morning when the office opened to pay for our night, since we were planning on leaving before checkout. When we were waking back to the site, a man is staring at our site and takes us back to the main office to pay for our site. We explained why we were so late and why we were going to come back in the morning to pay and he responds with "you all need to go to bed immediately" "make sure someone picks up after that dog" "are you all sure there's only 6 people down at your site". Nice, dude. So we pay for our site and go and have 1 drink, quietly I might add, and go to sleep. We wake up at 7:30 (checkout is at 10:30) and make breakfast and get some showers in. I kid you not, it is 10:38!!! And evil Santa rolls up in his golf cart and said "you know check out is at 10:30". We said yeah we are literally getting in our trucks to leave and considering we paid after midnight we technically should have the entire day at that site. He said "it doesn't matter check out is 10:30 and just sat there and watched us pack up the rest of our things saying snide comments. Well, we finally got an attitude with him and low and behold he had already phone his coworker to CALL THE POLICE ON US!!! For being 8 minutes late?! As we try to leave the campground, they BLOCKED US IN so we couldn't leave. One of the assholes banged on the hood of my buddies car! That's destruction of personal property. So, fast forward to ALL the drama of the cops being called, we find out that they had come down to our campsite WHIKE WE WERE SLEEPING to write down our tags because they "knew we would cause trouble" and told that cops that we were refusing to pay for our site. They also lied saying that we sped out of the campsite going 90 miles an hour (scientifically impossible) and that we caused trouble in telluride (we didn't, and how would they even know that?) Basically, the cops told us that we were absolutely fine and that there was no problem. Sorry for wasting your time with some rudeass, pompous business owners Cortez cops! Honestly, we chalked it up to they don't trust younger people (even though we are all almost 30 freaking years old) and are ageist assholes! See you never Cortez! read more

My siblings and I checked into this KOA very late (around 2:30am) and chose a spot from the list of available spots that were shown on the list as we were checking in. We set our tent up as quietly as we could and even took our mattresses to the washroom to blow them up to ensure we wouldn't disturb any campers. At around 10:30am my sister and I left my brother to sleep and were on our way out to get some food before we started taking our tent down and were stopped by an older man with a long white beard telling us that checkout was 10:30 and we needed to pack up and get going. We thought checkout was at 11 like every other KOA we had stayed at along our trip was, however we turned around and woke up our brother and started packing up right away. Around 15 minutes after we had started packing up and taking the poles out of our tent, the owner rolls up in his little golf cart and tells us to start packing. We said "Okay!" and continued packing our things. He then interrupted us again and said, "No you guys need to start packing NOW" to which we replied "We know! What do you think we are doing?". He then proceeded to spew a bunch of lies to us by trying to tell us that we had taken another person's campsite, and when we tried to tell him we had taken one from the list of available spots he refused to listen. He then became verbally abusive towards the three of us, calling us a bunch of childish names and swearing at us (keep in mind there were children around this campground at the time). Before he told us to "GET THE (f word) OUT NOW" and sped off, he decided to throw a water bottle at me in anger. My brother and sister and I stood there stunned for a moment. We have always been respectful kids and couldn't figure out why this guy was having a meltdown on us. We finished packing the car, and on our way out stopped at the washroom quickly as none of us had had a chance to use it or brush our teeth yet. The owner and his minion had blocked us from using it and told us we were no longer welcome to use the amenities (even though it doesn't say ANYWHERE that you are unable to use amenities after checkout time) He then proceeded to verbally abuse us further and call the police on us! We learned he was clearly not mentally stable and left to call the police ourselves. After talking with the police, I felt much better. He assured us we did nothing wrong and did the right thing by calling them because that kind of behaviour is unacceptable. Once we got home from our trip, we ended up looking up reviews for this place on all sorts of different websites and social media apps and realized we weren't the only ones who had the unfortunate encounter with this crazy man! Some people claimed he was actually drinking on the job, and in a drunken stupor discriminated against "their kind" and refused to serve them. The owner of this campground has some very serious mental issues that need to be addressed. I can honestly say I don't think this campground will be in business any longer if he doesn't get the help he needs. A very scary situation to be in with my younger brother and sister. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy! read more

Very friendly staff. The pull-through sites were easy to navigate although the distance between the sewer and the electric hookup was longer than I've ever seen. Pool closed really early. Everything was really clean and well laid out. The scenery surrounding is beautiful. The Mesa Verde National Park is right here. We are only staying one night. I thought 47 dollars was a little on the high side. Our site had an old picnic table and just gravel, and it seemed a bit close to our neighbor when we put our slides out. Good thing they didn't have slide-outs. In all fairness, maybe it was worth the $47 a night if I had been there the next day to look around more and see what else they had. read more

We used this campground as our base to see the Mesa veered and 4 corners. Was meet by friendly staff that escorted us to our site and even helped with set up. Store was stocked well and the park was well kept ! But traveling with 2 dogs we found the 3 acre dog park and nature trails to be above and beyond !! Every thing was top notch for our 3 day stay !!
