This is a quiet park with an attentive staff. The site is large enough for our class A. They have larger sites that are more $$. The views are amazing and it is close to many places to explore and visit. I am excited to wake up to these views for next 7 days. They have plenty of things for families to do. I would definitely recommend this RV park. The only downside is the internet connection. It is very slow or non existent. If you need to work while staying here, you may experience difficulties. If you want to disconnect (like us), then this is great!

    Perfect view of Mesa Verde!

We arrived unannounced on Labor Day, no reservations. The owners were out front having a BBQ with the guests and welcomed us in with open arms. They even kept the BBQ going for another hour to make sure us surprise visitors got fed! Camp has two new hot tubs, one is only for adults which shows foresight on their part. They have a massive, and I mean massive, off leash dog area which was the largest of all camps we have stayed at. Our three dogs very much appreciated that area. Sites on the top of the park were a little close together but made up for it with unparalleled views of Mesa Verde. The park is undergoing various improvements as the current owners took over the park when it was in disrepair. Internet service is a challenge for the whole area but if you only need email and light web surfing you will be fine. Location is right outside the park entrance, you cannot get closer without staying at Morefield Campground in the park and this place packs a LOT of amenities in a very reasonable price.

Wow! Can't say enough about this place and mostly it is because of the wonderful people who run this place! Visiting Mesa Verde national park and their full hook ups were all gone so the ranger told me to drive across highway to this place, thanks ranger!! Immediately upon entering Ancient Cedars I was to feel like I was family, they were so nice and helpful with planning the next several days of my trip, I was only going to stay one night but immediately turned that into two and would have stayed longer if I could have! The place is just so darn cute! It is new owners and they are working on the place! But it has a lot of character. They have all the usual stuff with 30 and 50 amp spots, tent spots and even cute little cabins! Many sites have full hookups and many with just water and electric. They have a pool, two hot tubs, one for adults only! They have a playground for the kids and a miniature golf course. They also have an adorable cabin that has a large screen tv and a DVDs player there to watch movies. I love this place, hate telling people about it because next time I come through it will probably be full!

Great place to see Mesa Verde National Park! I believe we only paid $36 per night for full hook ups. They have great level spaces with amazing views of Mesa Verde peak, an awesome office store with most anything you need, a rec room with a pool table and TV, mini golf course, and a huge dog park. The only negative is crappy cell service (I have Verizon) and their WiFi is hit or miss (i'm pretty sure they turn on and off their WiFi services because sometimes the Wi-Fi would be perfect and other times it wouldn't work at all). I would definitely stay here again!

What a great place! The people in the office are so nice and the place is well maintained and being upgraded . Cute clubhouse, nice little store for camping needs. The dog park is HUGE which was great for our three pups!

Ancient Cedars is a wonderful little campground. The staff are very nice and accommodating. The facilities are clean and they have Wi-Fi. We especially love that they have a dog run for our furbabies.

Wow. A delight. Views of mountains and valleys. Watching the beautiful horses graze was an added treat. So glad Mesa Verde National Park didn't allow tow vehicles because we never would have found this gem. We were sorry to leave.

Mesa Verde national park can be seen in the background.

Very unkempt needs TLC. Ours was called deluxe. Don't know why just uneven rocks, not mowed. No shade. Ok for a nite or two.

The miniature golf course is a lot of fun and my kids spent a lot of time on the playground and playing tetherball.

With all the years that I have been enjoying the outdoors, I have come to the realization that…read morethere are essentially two types of camping - staying in a place of natural beauty unto itself, to enjoy the location where you set up your tent or parked your trailer - staying in a location that is a place to set up your tent or park your trailer, as a base of operations from which to travel to nearby natural beauty or wonder. Ancient Cedars RV park probably falls into the second category, although it offers amenities and features that are superior to lots of other RV parks, KOAs, and the like. For one thing, just about every site has a beautiful view of Mesa Verde National Park's celebrated geography... as a matter of fact, you really can't get much closer to the park without camping inside of it. One minute drive from Ancient Cedars and you're in the park! Despite being pretty close to our neighbors, our site had full hook ups, shade from a well-placed tree, a picnic table, and enough room to set up our trailer and park our truck. Easy pull through sites for all sized trailers and campers. Larger sites for humongous rolling houses and such did not have trees, but those would just get in your way, right? The front desk staff was extremely kind and friendly, the price was not astronomical, and we were not packed in like sardines, as we have been at a few other private RV park locations. The swimming pool, hot tub, and 18 hole miniature golf course were all enjoyed by the kids, as well as the game room with foosball, a billiards table, and a few other things. The front office area has a small mini mart for those essentials you forgot, and code entry restrooms and showers. The park is next to a horse property, and at night, the friendly horses come over to the fence to the delight of kids and grown ups alike. I also thought it was thoughtful that one of the rules is all external lights on campers need to be turned off at night, so visitors can enjoy the dark sky and view of the stars. At least, when the monsoon clouds aren't blocking the view. Overall, this was a great last stop on our month-long cross country road trip. Worth checking out, and hope to visit again.

Also staff in the bar stated that she was on so many drugs she should not be working and could not remember our order. Our family has been holding reunions at this camping resort for over 20 years. Unfortunately, this…read moreyear made it painfully clear that we are no longer welcome here. To start, the cabins have not been updated in decades, and now, you are expected to clean them yourself without being provided even basic supplies like rags or cleaners. We had to walk to a distant front office to borrow a vacuum to clean the cabin. The "face towels" provided were nothing more than thin, worn rags, as you can see in the attached pictures. Each cabin, regardless of whether it housed four or twelve people, came with a single small trash can, one liner, and 1-2 rolls of toilet paper for a four-day stay. No extra bags, no restocking unless you caught the office open, and even then, guests were often given a hard time just for asking. While additional toilet paper and trash bags were eventually provided, they were not given without rude or sarcastic comments. One guest who brought up the lack of toilet paper was told that maybe she "shouldn't be using the bathroom so much." Completely unacceptable. Customer service was a serious issue from the very beginning. Several family members had trouble booking or changing reservations because their calls were not returned. When calls were answered, the owner, Tom, was rude and dismissive. Despite renting out 95% of the resort, the restaurant staff was unprepared and rude in their delivery of this information. When a family member asked to get back into a cabin to get their wallet after check out, Tom rudely replied by saying, "Check out is at ten," and drove away without offering any assistance to retrieve the wallet. Throughout our stay, several people were aggressively confronted for not wearing wristbands. While the wristband requirement had been communicated by the reunion committee, managing 300+ attendees means a few people fall through the cracks. Instead of a courteous redirection, they were spoken to rudely and sent to an office that was once again not open. One member gave Tom their name, and Tom responded, "You don't look like a Martinez to me." Whether this was meant to be racially charged or just another example of Tom's consistent disrespect toward guests, it was offensive and inappropriate. When I called to share these concerns after check-out, Tom took zero accountability and instead blamed our family committee for the resort's shortcomings and his rudeness towards guests. While I have talked to Tom on the phone (who initially refused to give me the owner's name), I think it is important to let other people know our experience, as I have read through other 1-4-star reviews, and they are very consistent with the things we experienced during our stay. After more than two decades of returning to this property, this was a heartbreaking and frustrating experience. We are sad that we will not be returning to Echo Basin, and I would no longer recommend it to others.
