The location is extremely convenient to downtown, and the amenities are comfortable, clean, and have the rooms have a fun mountain charm. The onsite El Camino lounge serves up reasonably priced and well executed bar food and drinks. They had some great musical acts during my stay and I really enjoyed hanging out with the friendly staff and locals. Checkout SOCO the next time you're looking to come to Pagosa or Wolf Creek. The lounge connected to the hotel served up great drinks and food. There was live music playing on the patio during our visit. On the weekend this place draws an even bigger crowd in their outdoor music venue. The fries are delicious! Truly a standout. We stopped in for drinks and an appetizer on this trip. My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this motel! The room was newly remodeled with a rustic, yet modern feel. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was very clean with good water pressure. The motel is pet friendly, with a pet fee of $25.00 a night. There is an area to walk your pup on a leash and they even provide doggie poo bags for people who don't have them. They have coffee and breakfast snacks on site for free in the morning. They also have drinks and food for sale from a food truck on site as well. My boyfriend and I had a phenomenal time staying at Motel SOCO. Mary managed our reservation and even extended breakfast the next morning when we wandered in a little sleepy (and late!) Sitting out on the back patio, my bf and I both remarked on how sweet and cozy the place was, and how great it must be to see live music here. We had so much fun going to the hot springs, hiking, and mountain biking that we more than filled our time with fun. That said, we would absolutely be back to enjoy the social component of having the small restaurant and venue onsite! read more

Originally there was a mix-up with our reservation that caused us to cancel, but we called back SOCO very generously accommodated us. Which I am grateful for the thoughtful customer service because this place is great. Cute, simple, clean rooms. A very unique bar and music setting. Tasty food. They know what they're doing. And the most amazing part is that they are incredibly reasonably priced. The motel has clearly been renovated so there are some little quirks like slanted floors or old style windows, but it actually just adds to the charm, as opposed to freaking you out. If I could give 10 stars, I would... this place is a brilliant find! With this being my first foray out and about since our Colorado opening, my review involves two ratings, both the accommodations / experience and COVID info. So, without a plan, I took to the mountains to distance a bit from reality and just drove south, ending up in Pagosa Springs. Never been and will definitely be back. A few hours out, I figured it was probably smart to start my search for a place to stay and Motel SOCO looked perfect. Colin was super helpful in getting me set up with a pup friendly room and upon arriving, found live music and a great little bar hopping in the back, with a food truck to boot. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, drinks were stellar and music a balm after two months without live interactions. The rooms are outstanding, my expectations tend to be low when the word motel is attached to them, this place shot those right out of . Newly remodeled, great decor, everything you need, comfy beds, super clean. Wouldn't change a thing other than a little more lighting to read by at night. As far as our new way of interacting and traveling during COVID... 5 stars. If you are looking to ensure your experience supports the expectation of the CDC guidelines to be followed during the opening up of our state, SOCO did a great job of making sure all was in line. Upon arriving, I went straight to my room, key was inside, no need to check in (lobby was closed, pay via phone mostly), room clean and sanitizer in each room. The back patio was social distanced for the most part (people did well keeping distance from folks not in their group) and the serving of beverages was done one at a time by Blake who was wearing a mask the entire time (same for the food truck dude). While no one was wearing a mask on the patio, there was not many people and we were drinking beverages so, there's that. I felt safe and taken care of the entire time. No TV in your room. No valet parking. No turndown service. No overnight dry cleaning. And it's PERFECT. What this hip, retro, stylish motel DOES have is mojo - lots of it - all the stuff you need like clean, soft linens, an in-room iron eagle beer opener, an on-site cafe featuring Eddyline and Riff Raff brews on tap, a volleyball net, stunning views, gorgeous live edge wood details, fabulous aesthetics in your well appointed room albeit just the necessities...great location, free parking, complimentary breakfast...seriously this is the coolest motel. Wandering into the bar and cafe, we happened onto one of the owners and a lovely staff member who shared a wealth of information about the local sights, events...including the tip that there may, at times, be an impromptu volleyball tournament with live music...you definitely start to get a sense that the mojo you're sensing is love. They love hosting guests and know their clients are people like me: I want the good stuff and a great value without any pretentious extras. Yes, they might cheer for the wrong team here (Vikings? Seriously?) but we'll forgive them. Because it's just a great spot to put your weary body after a great day on the water/mountain/iron horse or whatever thrilled ya...it's definitely an example of what every motel "could" be if it were really, really good in its past life. It's walking distance to town - about 5 or 8 minutes - but with enough breathing room on a beautifully sloping hillside just on the edge of town. Kudos, MOTEL SOCO. Fantastic little roadside motel! Rooms were perfect and nothing beats the ambiance of the El Camino lounge and patio. We hosted our daughters wedding reception and weekend festivities here! We had booked out most of the hotel and had zero complaints from anyone. Autumn and Collin accommodated any requests and hosted a perfect weekend for us! It's true there isn't a TV in the room, but you won't miss it. (Bring your Netflix-enabled computer if you just can't go without.) The lounge was comfy and the atmosphere nice. Only cons: the basket of foodies for purchase in each room wasn't in mine (yet that's probably a good thing) and no coffee was available. I literally can't say enough good things about this place. My daughter and I went on a little road trip and ended up staying for three days. It's such a chill atmosphere. On our 12 day motorcycle trip this is coolest little spot I've been too. When you pull in the owner, Autumn and Colin, make you feel like family. Definitely good vibes. We love the rooms...NO TV! They have a sweet little louge and have a couple local beers on tap. They also have board games, horseshoe pit, hatchet tossing, giant jenga, etc. Deer wander the property in the evenings. I would normally like to give this facility 4 stars, however, the noise from US 160----the main highway into/out of Pagoda Springs----was a real issue for us. With our room being located only about 100 feet from the edge of the highway----and with Soco's rooms not being air conditioned----and with it being a relatively warm day----leaving our window open was our only option. Hence the issue of unwanted - nuisance noise from the highway. Otherwise, a quality stay for us. read more

We came to town to check oiut the area for a possible move. Saw and read about SOCO on way to Pagosa. Called from road made the reservation simple easy. Arrived met Autumn owner check in was a breeze. Disc golf happening out front, lounge was hopping.. got to the room very nice clean comfy. WITH WORKING WIFI! Oh yea they not only allow pets they like em. Almost everyone at the patio had there dog with them. Went back to desk ask for some local recommendations.. information overload. Great suggestions all around. Very friendly place . With over 20 yrs of hospitality experience under my belt I was impressed they way the Soco motel is ran.. keep up the great work. When we got there it was dark. The steps leading to our room were completely covered in ice. We were given direction just to enter our room. It was left UNLOCKED! We were a bit shocked by this. Anyone could have stayed in the room because no one ever checked to see who was there, ask for identification or hold any sort of accountability. While the room was clean, it didn't look like the pictures we looked at before booking. There is only a small wobbly frig on the floor. No microwave. No tv. Not much at all to make the stay comfortable. There is no free breakfast like it says when you google the hotel. The complimentary coffee is put on a window ledge outside with some cheap granola bars. Maybe they consider that the free breakfast. The front desk was never open. The sign was on but no one there the entire 4 day stay. That is the worst customer service. If we had wanted to stay in Pagosa Springs a little longer there would have been no one to even ask about it. The bar was nice but only opened 2 of the days we stayed and the bartender was rude. She was upset because I ordered a bloody mary when she had just put everything away. No food or snacks, no front desk just a rude bartender obviously upset about having to do her job. I had booked my room 2 months in advance. I had clearly booked a pay at the hotel option. They called while I was traveling to say that if I did not call them back by 8 am (remember I was not supposed to have to pay for my room until I arrived that night to check-in) then they would cancel my reservation.
