They were rock solid when the cashier passed them to me, which was perfect as I had to make the trek back to the car before I could unwrap and try it. The sandwich is on the smaller end so I made sure to cherish the $25 I had spent on 2 sandwiches. The inside featured a creamy basil ice cream with frozen strawberries. The strawberries were a bit icy but the cream balanced it out and it was not too sweet. And of course, who wouldn't love a biscoff ice cream sandwich? The basil flavour was unique and interesting and I was glad I got to try this delicious creation. I probably wouldn't have it again, but it is definitely worth a try! Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.
