We started with the oysters. The oysters had brown algae spots, indicating they are from a low quality fish farm. The salmon in the counter was also grey, which should have made me turn away before I walked in. The peel and eat shrimp were fine. The grouper was overcooked. I ordered the crab and corn chowder, which should be called corn chowder, because there was zero crab. Then, I ordered the Fish n Chips that weren't fresh, it had literally no taste. The Chips / French Fries were fried in what tasted like oil that hadn't been changed in week. I thought it might just be my meal but my wife ordered the grouper sandwich that also had very little flavor, as if all the fish had come from the back of a freezer where had been for years. The only thing that had any flavor were the green beans; and that was only because they were swimming in oil, garlic, and salt. Even the coke tasted weird. We arrived at the restaurant at 2pm on a weekday. The facility was clean, welcoming, and casual. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken right away. We ordered the Black Grouper entree with house salad and a Gulf Grouper entree with house salad. Fish preparation choices included fried, broiled or blackened. We both opted for the blackened. We also shared a bowl of Crab & Corn Chowder and fresh cut french fries. Cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, salt and pepper were available at the table for the meal. The house salad was good sized, fresh, and crisp with our choice of balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The fries were hot and fresh. The Crab & Corn Chowder tasted good but there was not a large amount of crab meat in the dish. Both the blackened Black Grouper entree and Gulf Grouper were well seasoned and cooked right. A decent seafood meal for a reasonable to high price. If you go at happy hour, they have oysters on special, plus a couple of beer and cocktail specials. Our server was friendly, but a little scattered. I went with friends during Memorial Day weekend, specifically for the blue crabs. Only to find out that they ran out the day before. Okay - who doesn't stock up for a busy holiday weekend? Very disappointing, but I changed my order to their two soft shell crab dinner. I chose to have one crab fried, like I normally eat them, and one sauteed. It came as a platter, and I got the steak fries and green beans. I liked the fried one much better than the other, although unfortunately they were the tiniest soft shell crabs I have ever eaten. 3.5 stars is what I really want to give, 4 is just a wee bit too many stars. Our experience was good. The free kids meal intrigued me. They also have a list of happy hour items on the windows of the restaurant so they do have good specials. They also had 2 for 1 drinks for HH. The physical menu itself needs to be condensed. It's literally a book. I feel it's just a little too much to go through. Service was not bad. Our server started off by mentioning the specials. He was friendly. I did think him having a table outside and inside made him more busy. I get it was slower and the servers were rotating tables but him going from two different sections at once, ehhh it def threw off his ability to be more alert for us. Food was decent. It wasn't the most amazing sea food. The kids meal the popcorn shrimp seemed a little mushy. Not crunchy like popcorn shrimp should be. The smiley fries were cute. If you spend $14 on food you get a free kids meal which is a nice deal. One side note and this was totally my fault, but coulda also been emphasized a little better by the server for non regulars that aren't fully familiar with how things work. Ok so when I saw 99 cent wings on the window for happy hour, silly ole me was thinking it was a 99 cent basket. Partly my mind just went to that structure because I used to work at a restaurant that gave free wings with any HH drink. Soooo good! Let's start with the important facts... 2 for 1 drinks ALL DAY on select drinks and those drinks are good! It's at the Wiregrass Mall so there is plenty of parking and it is really easy to find. The service was great. We had Justine and she put up with us and our tipsy behavior with such grace lol The FOOD! So good! We got shrimp, fries, Crabcakes and croquettes, a big fish sandwich, Wings and conch fritters. All SO GOOD! It was hot and it came out pretty quickly. It's safe to say that we were really full and satisfied. We may have been the loudest table where we were sitting, the noise level was otherwise decent. They have outside seating and bar seating. We went during the day so there wasn't too much traffic, and no wait time. Prices are moderate -- seafood is typically a little more expensive than a burger so nothing outside of what I expected. First time here. Ordered mussels. They were nice and garlicky, but 9 not open/dead. We wanted to bring home to my son, but half the plate not edible. They made it right, and remade in a to go box. Grouper tacos were not blackened like we requested, but were tasty. Clams were delicious, plate was mostly french fries, with a small portion of clams. Overall good. Key lime pie was delicious. All in all, I would give them 4 stars for the mussels, and grouper, but they ended up making it right by not charging us, and remaking some. A+ for customer seevice. It ran off the chip like water! The crab cake was a little salty and for $23 I was expecting less bread and more lump crab. The $45 stuffed grouper was extremely disappointing! For $45 you would expect just crab meat inside or on top of the Grouper with maybe a little crab cheese sauce dribbled over it. No, it was just a slop of breaded stuffing with a little crab meat. Crab corn chowder was according to my wife tasteless. I thought it had too much corn, not enough crab and too thin She had the pinchers. She was disappointed. This Pinchers location is pretty great, I was actually very impressed with both the service and the quality of the food. Nickie was our server, and she was awesome in every way! Very attentive, always checking on us and going out of her way to meet our inquiries, also very knowledgeable about the menu items. Hopefully will see her again before she moves! I highly recommend coming for their Happy Hour, I believe its from 3pm-6pm. Great deals on drinks and the seafood. You get 99 cent choices of clams, steamed or raw oysters, peel shrimp, and wings. (Minimum 6 order) The crab was fantastic, perfectly seasoned and steamed. I recommend trying the 4 cluster blue crab entree, with the spiced butter option (its spices with old bay mix and garlic I believe). Extremely delicious, even dipping the shrimp in it. Just be prepared with eating the crab, it is quite the messy experience! The raw oysters were also fresh and not fishy, I was very happy with how the cocktail sauce was made. The tables are topped with brown paper bag lining and a full paper towel roll equals it's about to get down and dirty. The crab dip is outstanding had great flavor with colorful tortilla chips for scooping. I had the ribs -not the best choice being I was at a seafood restaurant. But the oysters, calamari, shrimp and fish and chips were delicious. I think the fish and chips were the best. They use Alaskan fish and the chips are fresh-cut french fries. The food came out fast. The staff was friendly and even wrote her name, Justine, on the table so we would not forget There is a full liquor bar with TVs that you can order and eat at. I think I found a new hangout! Yay! What a fun airy space to sit, snack, and drink! Perfect spot to meet friends or hang while your kids tool around at the mall (which is what I did). I was able to walk right in, grab a spot at the bar, and ordered 2 for 1 drinks! Wait... What?! Yes...pinchers offers 2 for 1 everyday on certain beer, house wine, house margaritas, and sangria. I ordered sangria (yum) and white zinfandel. I also ordered the conch and crab dip. The crab dip was warm and cheesy served with perfectly salted chips. The conch had a super tasty dip and was crisp and flavorful. My first time eating conch and it didn't disappoint. Service was friendly and helpful! Everyone wears masks. The restaurant is nearly completely open on all fronts. The one entire side is completely open, which is where the bar is and where I sat. The front door is open, so lots of air flow. Solid seafood chain, this one located At Wiregrass Mall in Wesley Chapel. Super casual, flip flop and T shirts kind of place. Has a large indoor space and plenty of seating around the perimeter that is open to the outdoors. This review just for the 99 cent peel and eat. (But their crab Rangoon is really good as well as the buffalo and bang bang shrimp) . Quite full for an early Saturday afternoon, They quickly cleared an outdoor table to seat us at a table we requested. Staff was attentive and masked up. Manager came by and checked as well. Happy hour is 2fer, but they bring them both at the same time. Shrimp were quite large, deveined 100% (cause no one likes shrimp turd) and super clean and fresh. Served on ice w/ lemon. A good deal at 99 cents each (I think could buy in multiples of 8?). Usually they sell by the pound or half pound and I liked buying by unit instead. read more

3.5 to 4 stars. Pinchers has a moderate menu, a friendly staff, & a large, sectioned dining area. Prices are relatively standard for seafood. DINING ROOM: A host/hostess will greet you upon entering. S/he will rip off a piece of rolled brown paper to serve as your table covering before signing it w/ a black Sharpie. The dining area is arranged in sections w/ some sections higher than others. There's a camp feel to the interior due to the wood plank walls & the hodgepodge of wall hangings. There's a roundish elevated room that offers a large, round table for a medium-sized group or large family, w/ multiple wall TVs mounted overhead. There are mounted TVs in other areas as well. A front covered patio area enclosed on two sides by a thick black canopy w/ plastic windows is to the left as you enter. That area offers ceiling fans to offset any lack of A/C. There's a wooden bar to the front right as you enter; it's in a section of its own. I've always had excellent service when I've sat there to eat. MISC: There's a fresh seafood display case immediately upon entering. Prices are slightly higher than elsewhere. Fish, crab, & shrimp are often offered. In front of the case are seafood "tools" for purchase-- i.e. seafood cracker, crab mallet, & shrimp deveiner. FOOD: YOU MUST TRY THE CRAB RANGOON! It's A*M*A*Z*I*N*G! And it's Pinchers most popular item. Filled w/ blue crab, cream cheese, & green onion, it's topped w/ an incredibly delicious sweet chili sauce. I've eaten many entrees, appetizers, & sides here after each county teacher was presented a $25 gift certificate in mid 2019 (& 5 of my coworkers gave me theirs since they lived too far away). Thank you, Pinchers management. The burger & dry rub ribs are surprisingly very good, the crab cakes are mild & flavorful, & the large Poboy, fried Cod, Boom Boom Shrimp, & Buffalo wings are worthy. I enjoyed the Ahi tuna, but I have not been impressed w/ the grouper (regardless of how it's been prepared)-- it's the only food item I won't reorder. Great appetizers/sides include the Crab Rangoon (it is worthy of a double mention:), the fresh, local & nicely crispy whole green beans (another favorite), sweet potato fries, & the Crab Corn Chowder. The Grouper Bites are very good & the Conch Fritters are average. The steak fries are spot on, but a thumbs halfway down on the regular fries. A full thumbs down on the baked beans that taste canned. My companions enjoyed the Crab Cheese Dip served w/ tortilla chips, & I have always enjoyed the coleslaw-- not drowning in dressing. The unsweetened iced-tea is very good, & the beer selection is ample. There are, of course, Happy Hour specials. SERVICE, ETC: It's often very good-- on one visit it was average. Per Florida mandate, there is social distancing & masks are mandatory. The ketchup and salt/pepper are supplied via individual packaging upon request. However, the menus are still the large, heavy, laminated, slightly tacky ones. I've never needed to phone ahead nor have I had to wait to enter; Pinchers is large enough to accommodate many patrons. (Curbside pickup is still offered @ this time.) Pinchers of The Shops of Wiregrass is not upscale. It's not classy or fancy. It doesn't offer bright lighting, shiny glass, or modern lightning. It's bar-like & camp-like. It's as casual as they come. Due to the acoustics, it's often on the loud side. There are better seafood restaurants, but Pinchers is consistently average & offers no big surprises; patrons are assured a seldom-changing, large section of culinary offerings. Our experience was Awful. We were a party of 6. The restaurant was moderately busy. We were seated and our drink order was taken by 2 different people. We got water but all other drinks were never brought even after repeated requests. 3 out of our 6 NEVER got their meals. After repeated reminders we did not get our oysters they came, but we're not not shucked properly and tore up upon trying to to pick them up. Our waiter was a no show most of the time and when we asked for things he disappeared, to never return. The only thing he was fast at was the "bill"! We spoke with the manager upon leaving and she didn't seem to care at all. All she said was "sorry", not genuine at all. The service was bad, the food we did get was not good and way overpriced for what you get. Would never go back! read more
