I annihilated two of the BEST SOPES I have ever eaten at Tacos De Oro. Tucked off the main drag in Zephyrhills you will find this gem of a taco stand between 3rd and 4th avenue. Greeted with a ready smile and lots of suggestions we gave our order. "Just a few minutes" was the reply and BAM! Three supreme tacos and two sopes came out mere minutes later. If you go, get both the green sauce and red sauce. Tons of flavor and the heat...oh the heat of the homemade red sauce. The verde is also homemade and rich and chunky. I will be back. If I could award more, I surely would. My physical therapist had recommended this Mexican food truck for months. I finally stopped in back in November for the STEAK TACOS, which were DELICIOUS. Everyone who I've met who's eaten here raves about the Tacos. But on my initial visit, a Spanish-speaking customer told me the pork burrito (CARNITAS BURRITO) is the BEST creation. So I ordered one. Not only was it INCREDIBLE in size & flavor, but in freshness as well. It was LOADED w/ tender, moist, perfectly seasoned SHREDDED PORK. It was so large that just one half of it covered two meals for me! You're forewarned: the two side sauces are HOT. But the entrees are so good that sauce is entirely unnecessary. The two men inside this cute red food truck are friendly. They aren't fluent speakers of English, but that hasn't hindered their business. Be prepared to receive a smile & hear "amiga" or "amigo" a few times. To order, just park in the Marathon gas station lot & walk up to the window to order. There are two covered picnic tables should you wish to hang around & eat on site. This business attracts many blue collar guys; they apparently know where to secure excellent food @ reasonable prices. (Cash, credit, & debit are accepted.) The menu is not large-- it's two-sided & beautifully simplistic. (See pic.) Available is quite a large variety of Mexican pops (including Mexican Coca Cola) & water. No alcohol. Whether you're hungry for Tacos ($2), Taco Supremes ($2.50), Tortas ($8), Burritos ($8.50), Quesadillas ($8), Sopes ($3), or Flautas ($7), you can have them made w/ Steak (Azada), Pork (Carnitas), Marinated Pork (Pastor), Chicken (Pollo), Mexican Sausage (Chorizo), Tripe (Tripa), & Tongue (Lengua). This is a colorful food trailer that produces some amazing Mexican culinary wonders, specifically tacos. I have often said that you will find the best tacos not in a fancy restaurant, but rather these little hole-in-the-wall type places, or rather in this case, a food trailer, not a truck, but rather a trailer. In addition to tacos, they have other items, but I have only had the tacos and they are pretty impressive. Again, the best tacos don't come from James Beard awarded kitchens, but rather these kind of places. Either hole-in-the-wall places that have seen better days, a beat up old food truck, or even a food trailer. The people here are all very friendly for the tacos, I like their chorizo and asada the best. Though I must also confess that these are my two favorite types of tacos followed by carnitas tacos. The tacos are small, but they are also inexpensive, so try several. Tacos are a favorite food of mine and this was a definite great find. All in all, I have to give them government stars and my recommendation. Check out this taco food trailer and I am confident that you will enjoy your experience. You won't have ambiance. I attempted to try this food truck three times but every single time it was closed. I went during the hours listed and even tried calling but no one answered. I am so glad I didn't give up because it ended up being really really good! I ordered the Azada and pollo tacos. I was surprised with how generous the chef was with the amount of meat in each taco. The sauces on the side were delicious as well and really added to the already flavorful meat. The food was fresh and seemed very authentic. There is nothing to dislike about this food truck. Very small food truck and the parking lot of a convenience store that is being renovated. I would recommend actually utilizing the little bell that is on the counter when you get there because I waited quite a while before I was noticed. I hate it to do it but I needed some tacos. The price is right with tacos starting at just $2. I ordered the chorizo taco, asada (steak) and a chicken supreme which included lettuce tomato and sour cream. The others were traditional street tacos with cilantro and onion. The chorizo taco was amazing! The tortillas tasted very fresh and the amount of filling in each taco was a lot. Really It wasn't totally a handheld taco as I had to use a fork. I'm telling you the chorizo would make me stop there again if I was in the area. The other meat choices were pretty standard and just okay in my opinion. They did offer a house made red and green salsa which were yummy. We have been looking for an excellent taco since we moved from out west 5years ago and have been constantly disappointed with all the highly rated Mexican food spots in the area. Not this spot Ladies and gents, this is it! Taco of gold is 100% accurate. The are super flavorful, not dry at all and the portions are nice. We've eaten from here 2 days in a row and this will definitely be replacing our previous local go to "friendly" taco stand. We've had the pastor, carne asada, chicken and chorizo tacos. Recommended by multiple people for the location off of bearss Avenue, we found this little gem in Wesley Chapel. We went there for the first time tonight and they did not disappoint. If you are looking for authentic burritos and tacos that are not Tex-Mex, Puerto Rican, or faux Mexican, this is the place. Although it is a small food truck in the parking lot of a gas station, it is the closest thing to authentic Mexican that we have had to eat since moving here four years ago. I wish they had a restaurant where you could sit down and eat, but I will be content for now 2 continue to purchase from here. It is an hour round trip to come here, but well worth it. 5 stars This is one of the best taco joints in the Tampa area. Just go - you won't be disappointed. All of their tacos and burritos are great but their al pastor is FIRE. My one complaint is that they don't have shrimp or fish. If Tacos de Oro and Azul tacos could combine into one place it would be the one taco truck to rule them all. I was so worried I wouldn't find a taco place to call our own... we first tried a place that we drive 30 mins away to get to because it looked more authentic AND they had barbacoa, and we were so disappointed in the overall taste. This place is less than 10 mins away from us, AND THEY NAILED IT! So delicious. The only downfall is they do not have barbacoa, but it seems like that's a bit more challenging to find here. This is one the first food trucks I've been too and I can say I was not disappointed. The truck is kind of hidden on the corner of Marathon gas station. The prices are great and the owner was friendly. My friends and I went on a Tuesday night and the truck ended up getting slightly busy so our food took a little longer to come out. BUT I personally didn't mind the wait especially after how filled and loaded my supreme tacos were ! I thought I would get full after eating 3 like usual but the tacos were so fresh and authentic I ended up eating 5 and didn't feel like crap afterwards. The carnita, pollo, and pastor were all great and I cant choose between the pastor and carnita taco as my favorite. I've had better pollo tacos I wish it was little more seasoned and less dry but I'm also very picky with tacos since I've tried so many taco places.
