a plate of food on a table

This is the second time that I've from here via Yelp and both times I was happy. Delivery time was fairly quick and the food was still hot on arrival. The first time I ordered, I got the chicken & rice mix which came with sweet plantains & a salad and I also ordered the cream of shrimp which comes with white rice & french fries. My boyfriend ordered the breaded chicken with rice & beans. Sooo now... I usually order the same thing from Pollo ala Brasa but this place blew them out of the ball park. The chicken & rice mix is usually a huge serving anywhere that you go but PimPollo gives huge pieces of chicken and the sauce thats given with the meal really makes the dish. The cream of shrimp was very good as well with large size shrimps as well as small shrimps...the cream was tasty and not loaded with sodium. The only complaint that I have was that the serving of white rice wasn't enough but it didn't matter much. Tonight I ordered again but tried something a little different which was the Grilled Beef Typical Platter and it had a variety of things such as grilled beef of course, fried egg, white rice, beans, fried chicharron, avocado and corn cake. I didn't eat the chicharron because I don't ever eat it but I finished everything else and it was yummy!! Beef was cooked to perfection and very soft..and if you mix everything together it tastes pretty good. The avocado was a bit over ripe but I was able to salvage small pieces here and there. I will definitely continue to order from here because the food is filling, tasty and delivery is always quick!

The chicharrones look like they were fried 5 times and then neglected in a corner somewhere.... super dry and crusty and they tasted oily.

The food here is underwhelming and rather disappointing. I would give the food here 3 stars, but I have to take off one because the chicharrones tasted like straight up frying oil, and were also dry at the same time (I'm not sure how they managed to serve chicharrones that are drenched in oil but also have a dry, rough texture :{ ) The worst part about it: my meal was $18. Too pricey for what I ended up getting: a bandeja típica that wasn't so típica :/

Delicious!

I stopped here on my way to the airport and was disappointed that they didn't have corn arepas. The lady at the register was very nice and suggested a different dish to cure my cravings. I got a dish of beans with rice, fried plantain, pork, steak, and a fried egg. It was a big portion and everything tasted amazing! To top it off, I got a maracuya drink (my favorite!). It was a nice meal to finish off my NY vacation. Bookmarking the place to come back on my next visit

The beef empanadas are amazing. Had to come back to get more. The restaurant is clean and cute, perfect for family and dates.

I love their pollo en salsa de champiñiones! (Mushrooms) so flavorful, juicy, tender! All that deliciousness is worth every dollar spent!

Why 4 stars? Because these arepas were different, but enjoyable…read more --- --- --- To-date, I apparently have only had Venezuelan arepas and wasn't aware of how different Colombian arepas were. Colombian arepas (or at least the ones here) come with a sweet, corn tortilla and are more open faced: to be eaten with a fork. In the past, I've had flour tortillas that are designed more like a taco and eaten as a handheld. So despite the differences, I (and my friends) enjoyed our meal. Let the official record state, I ordered the arepas con queso with chorizo. We had plans to eat our way through Jackson Heights, but because a couple of the places we planned to visit were closed, we actually just mostly hung out here and enjoyed our arepas of the sweet and open-faced variety. It was a good afternoon.

Before this, if someone mentioned arepas, I probably would have confused them with pupusas, which I'd only seen at street fairs and thought of as more of a sweet item. I had no idea they came in savory versions too. I went with the carne asada arepa, and the beef was fresh, juicy, and cooked just right. It's so common for places to overcook little chunks of beef, but here it was perfect. Each arepa is big enough to split between two people, so the price feels very fair. The filling was generous, with beef packed inside and even overflowing out the sides. They also serve the arepas with a rack of five or six sauces to choose from. Some were spicy, and one had a sweet condensed milk flavor if you like a mix of sweet and savory. My go to ended up being this green mayonnaise sauce which I assumed was like some sort of a lime mayo, which added the perfect tartiness to the rich cheese filling.
