Went for breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Greeted happily and asked my choice of coffee. I said "surprise me" and received a Carmel latte. A couple minutes went by and I placed my order. The quiche was a bit watery (guessing because it was froze) but quite tasty. The hash browns were excellent. I left while ordering a chia tea and paid my check. This is a unique Cafe on Main St. in Oshkosh with a lot to offer. My girlfriend and I had brunch on a Tuesday and there was surprisingly a lot of people there. The menu offers breakfast and lunch foods all day and even has Bloody Marys and Mimosas! There is an outside patio for dining in the front on Main Street. Waitstaff was attentive and willingly answered questions about the menu. I loved my food as did my girlfriend and we thought everything was reasonably priced. read more

I've never been to WI but it was surprisingly easy to find a tasty and affordable brunch because of Pilora's. Came here after Rock USA with two friends and we ordered an assortment of plates to share (Mac and Cheese, Beer and cheese soups, Apple Salad with chicken, and Beef hash). If I were being super nit-picky, I could say the Mac and Cheese was a bit too salty, but that was literally the only critique I had. The salad was fresh, with good dressing ratio and just the right amount of nuts and fruit; beer and cheese soup came with these tasty croutons that went perfectly in terms of flavor and texture; beef hash was absolutely BOMB, and the scrambled eggs were probably the best I've ever had - truly, scrambled eggs Alton Brown would approve of - moist and fluffy but not soggy, topped with melted cheese and lightly seasoned. Bonus points for fantastic cornbread on the side for salad and soup. Service was friendly and fast. It was Saturday and they were pretty full but our food arrived quickly and we felt well-taken care of. We were probably bit of a pain since after our meal we ended up ordering a few smoothies to go and buying some coffee beans, but the staff was courteous and helpful. I usually have to psych myself up to brave the weekend brunch crowd in my local spots, and Pilora's definitely was very enjoyable in comparison and went beyond my expectations. read more

Because they are closed on Sundays and do not have evening hours, I have only been here 2 other times. But loved all of my experiences. Fresh food and attention to detail makes this place one of a kind. Their menu stretches from bloodies and mimiosas to local brew and is a full coffee shop. Food menu stretches from fresh fruit smoothies and granola to full burgers and wraps. The salads other people had looked great. Small and quaint it is a true gem. I will return! I found Pilora's on my last long trip to Oshkosh and was happy to return on my most recent trip. I love those cornbread pancakes. Last time I had them with the cherries. This time I had them with pecans. Both were great. I also wanted to have some of the special grape salad again and really enjoyed that too. Along with all that I had forgotten how good their coffee is. Their dark roast called to me both times. Aside from the great, healthy food I think very highly of the Pilora's staff. I ordered scrambled egg, was served some fake form of egg, I know because I've had them many times in past at cafeteria at my job. Difference is, I know and expect them at cafeteria setting, not at a restaurant. If i had the chance to ask server for something different, I would have, but she NEVER checked with us. Pilora's is a gem of an establishment on Main that is most certainly worth a stop in if you are in the neighborhood. The focus here is on unique creations using fresh and local ingredients in interesting flavor combinations. The interior is your typical bistro style contemporary layout. Most of my visits here have been for breakfast, and all the selections I have tried have been quite tasty. Standouts include the egg and Feta cheese bagel sandwich (nice to grab on your way to work), the scrumptious cornbread pancakes, and my absolute favorite the bread budding! The pudding is essentially like a french toast casserole of sorts, and with a little caramel and pecans over the top, it is amazing! They also feature Collectivo coffee, which those familiar with the Milwaukee area will immediately recognize. It is a little bitter for my taste, but many people adore it. Lunch wise, I have only tried the Salads, which are a tad pricey for what they are, but are not a bad option for a somewhat healthy lunch. The Athens salad with Feta is my personal fav, followed by the Cashew chicken salad, which has a very interesting contrast of flavors with the dressing they use. I would give this place 4.5 stars if Yelp allowed me a half star option, as the food here has always been great and it is far more unique than your typical Wisconsin breakfast joint serving up omelettes with hashbrowns and toast. Not that there is anything wrong with that, as nobody loves greasy spoon joints as much as I do, but originality and unique flavor profiles score big points with me. Lastly, they do offer take away service if you need quantity of certain items if you are needing to take something for an event, pot luck, etc. This is expensive, but it will save you in a pinch if you are lazy and don't feel like preparing something of your own. Just call them a day or two in advance. I took a tray of bread pudding to one of my marathon cram sessions for my graduate degree and I made some friends among classmates in a big hurry. read more

Yummy, super filling lunch spot. It has a very cozy vintage feel, like a lot of other spots in Oshkosh. The waitress was super friendly. I got a cup of beer cheese soup, which was a little heavy for me but I felt like drinking soup. And then I got the Athens salad, which was a huge salad with roast beef, feta, cranberries, lettuce mix and a homemade balsamic dressing. The cornbread that came with both the soup and salad was super tasty! In all, it only cost $13 for all that food. I was unable to finish my portion but was still satisfied. They also have free wifi. Let me just say I love love love their food. I ordered breakfast to go a few weeks back and went in to pay for it and no one in the restaurant was wearing masks. That includes all employees including the owner and the patrons at the tables. Small coffee shops are almost too hard to find in America's heartland. Pilora was like an oasis in a desert, it just didn't seem like it belonged there. They had tons of fresh coffee. They sell whole beans or you can have them ground up. I ordered a pumpkin spice laté and bought a lemon poppyseed muffin. The laté was money! Very similar to Starbucks but still different. The bang for buck was better than Starbucks in my opinion. The muffin was delicious as well. My mother in law ordered a salted caramel laté which was not good at all. The syrup was lacking flavor. Stopped for a late breakfast heading home from Green Bay. Not a huge menu, but more than enough and everything sounds interesting. They have multiple "fancy" coffee options, my with had a special which I believe was a lavender vanilla latte. I had a dark roast regular and a special dark roast, can't remember what, but both were good. My wife had the veggie quiche (which is crustless and much more like a frittata) with a side of creamy hash browns. My guess is it had sour cream in it which gave it a slight tang. I had corn bread pancakes with door county cherries. They were lighter than corn bread but heartier than a regular pancake, I was pretty full after 2 and stopped at 2-1/2. The side 'salad' options were interesting and delicious. We split grapes coated in yogurt and walnuts, and a garbanzo bean salad that was similar to chicken salad but vegetarian. We aren't near Oshkosh often, but will stop here again if we are. read more

The word around Oshkosh is that this is the place to be if you're looking for delicious, high quality food. While they have lunch items with a variety of salads, sandwiches, and burgers, most of the time I've heard Pilora's name was revolving around their breakfast options. As a late riser, breakfast is usually a rare occurrence for me, but luckily Pilora's offers it all day. I went for the Pilora Bagel because I've been craving a bagel for awhile around these barren bagel lands. The eggs were exceptionally well done where they were in that perfect nirvana of fluffy but not watery or dry. The marinated tomatoes were also tasty and didn't sog the whole thing up somehow. I wish the bagel was a little crispier, but it still worked well with everything. I don't know if they offer other types of eggs here (fried, over easy, poached, etc), but their scramble is probably the best I've ever had. I was torn between the bagel and the cornbread pancakes with Door County cherries, but they let you purchase the pancake as a side, so I got to try both. The pancake was like a dessert to me, moist and sweet. I don't know if I'd get it for breakfast early in the morning, but you could definitely spoil yourself with this breakfast dessert hybrid later in the day. All in all, Pilora's managed to hit the high expectations I had and even exceeded them. Awesome food, friendly employees, ample parking, you can't go wrong giving this place a shot. read more

I want to give this place four stars because I can tell from what other people ordered, they are probably worth 4 stars, but my experience is best explained as "A-OK." This place seemed super hyped on Yelp and my partner and I were headed to Oshkosh from Milwaukee to do lunch with two other people. 1 of the other 2 people who we ate with is a regular at this place and absolutely LOVES it so I was so frickin excited to get food from here. Its a bit small and cramped, but the ambiance is nice. It can get a little loud to have conversations and staff was friendly. I went wrong in what I ordered...I guess. Because I was grossly unimpressed with what I ordered My partner ordered the cornbread pancakes and LOVED them. Can't wait to go back and get them. Another person ordered bakery, which looked and I am sure was fine. Another person ordered something like chicken salad which looked fine. But I ordered the (don't recall its exact name) mandarin chicken salad. The lettuce they serve you for the salad is chopped iceburg lettuce. There was no dark leafy greens. I was really surprised at that. For the price of the salad, I would have assumed it would leafy greens, not water-filled light iceburg. Iceburg doesn't really have a flavor at all and isn't filling to eat as a salad. It cheapens any salad. It seemed like a really tacky way to save a couple of bucks. And then, oh my god... The chicken. If you ordered a salad, right? And you paid extra to add chicken. What would you expect? In my history of ordering salads where I pay to add chicken I have literally ALWAYS gotten a chicken breast expect this place. Where they serve, I shit you not, chopped up chicken deli meat. It was so cheap and sad looking. Sure my portion was huge but it was literally iceburg lettuce with chopped chicken slices and canned oranges (which those were fine, I expect canned oranges on a mandarin salad, but when you combo that with iceburg lettuce and sliced chicken meat, its a sad water-flavor town.) So I sat there disappointed and ate as much salad as I could And I watched everyone else eat their delicious looking stuff. I ordered what I expected to be leafy greens, a chicken breast, and oranges and instead got iceburg lettuce, FRICKIN CHOPPED UP CHICKEN DELI MEAT, and oranges. It sucked. Maybe one day I will be in Oshkosh again and just order the cornbread pancakes. Definitely stay clear of their "salads." read more

Great place for breakfast or lunch! Pilora's brews Collectivo coffee, which is my absoulte favorite. My favorite breakfast on the menu is their Eggs Benedict, which is a little non-traditional. Scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce with toast points. If you're looking for lunch, they have great salads and sandwiches. I've never had a bad meal and I love their friendly staff members! Piloras is not open on Sundays which is my only gripe, since I enjoy eating there so much! read more

This is a nice little café with a modern feel. We stopped in here for a more healthy option. The place is small seating 40-50 at most. It is nicely decorated with a subtle tribute to autumn. I ordered the Gyro sandwich. it came with a garbanzo bean salad. The salad was nothing more than a scoop of garbanzo beans in a mayonnaise sauce. The Gyro however was fantastic. It was perfectly seasoned beef with cucumber, sliced cherry tomatoes, red onions, and a Greek Gyro sauce all on a grilled flat bread. This was a good hand crafted Gyro. I usually don't like that kind of salad, but that was super delicious. Coffee was great. Prices are perfect. My gal got the Veggie Quiche with Cheesy homemade potatoes and some sliced ham on the side. She loved it too! This is owned by the people that own the Chalice. From what I understand it was originally a breakfast place, but they are starting to do dinners now. I'm from Oshkosh originally, but now reside in CA.
