Really liked getting to know dr Pendleton by the time my son was born in 2013 i thought we would have had a closer relationship with the medical staff but soon after they started getting bigger and bigger and we haven't seen de Pendleton in years. I do love the other doctors and NPs there but it can be hard to see the same person every time which makes it hard to get comfortable. I would still recommend the place every single staff member has always been patient and caring and respectful. Cannot say I would change anything except the wait times and the phone doesn't get answered as quickly as it used too which makes it frustrating but it's not a real problem. I would definitely recommend. Also I saw one review saying that they forced vaccinations and that was never my experience.

I am usually always able to have my kids seen for a same day appointment and if not, the next day. I love that there is an after hours number for emergencies. I feel like my values and Desert Shores align. 10/10 recommend Desert Shores!

My sister took my nephew here today following an incident that took place at home and was being a GOOD MOTHER and took her child to get checked on to make sure he was ok and came home to tell me about her experience with tears in her eyes. We typically go to the Gilbert location and I am glad we do because apparently this location hires medical professionals that aren't very professional. Somebody should probably educate him on how to speak to a new mother that is actually doing a fantastic job transitioning into motherhood and really loves and cares for her baby. Postpartum is already hard enough as it is and she doesn't need a rude doctor to make her feel like she is an awful mom. Neither of us will ever come back to this location. Do better.

Ok, so vaccines don't bother me but the idea of someone telling someone else that certain drugs MUST be put in their kid is an absolute red flag. What happened to caring for patients, and the patients right to decide what is best for their kid. Makes me worried what else they would force on their patients. Dr Iorio is a great pediatric doctor & I am glad we take our kids to see him. Were he an old-time…read morecountry doctor working from his house, this would be a five star review. Doctor Iorio & the front office & medical staff are great, but the business office staff leave a LOT to be desired. They are not the least bit understanding that a 2 Week old baby may not have made it into the insurance company's records yet, they demanded payment in full for the 4-day-old visit that was initially declined or they would send to collections immediately (This was at the 2 week old visit). Initially refusing to resubmit the claim, they stubbornly state their policy is that payment in full is required immediately following a denial, regardless of reason. They stated "If you can't pay today, I expect a call on Monday!" They don't seem to get the fact that they will drive away patients who (with their insurance companies) will spend thousands of dollars in pediatric bills in their office as the child grows up. Perhaps "Jae" in the business office was just having a bad day today, but we have had issues with them before, just can't remember if it was with her in the past, or another business office employee. If I based this review on business office staff alone, I would be rating them similarly to concentration camp guards ( MINUS 4 stars). Dr Iorio's professionalism, skill, and expertise, as well as the friendliness & helpfulness of the "real" medical staff save the day & keep us coming back. He's good enough that we can almost ignore the business office (which might be the best way to handle them anyway.) Doctor Iorio and the front desk & medical staff are helpful, friendly, and responsive, and always seem to care what is going on with a child. They promptly return phone calls & fit in emergency appointments.

My son was born prematurely October 1988, Dr. Iorio was the pediatric doctor on call for the…read morehospital that day, which is how I found him. I had a 5 yr old daughter at the time as well who I had been bringing to numerous family doctors since she'd been 11 months old trying to find out what was wrong with her. Every single doctor prior to seeing Dr. Iorio told me I was a nervous first time mother and there was nothing wrong with my girl and would send us away without any tests or recommendations. When my son was 2 wks old I took him to see Dr. Iorio as the hospital recommended and I brought my girl along. After Dr. Iorio examined my son I asked him if I could ask him for advice regarding my daughter. Dr. Iorio took the time without an appointment for her, to do an examine, send us for labs and within 24 hrs of ever meeting her -- after spending FIVE YEARS with all other doctors dismissing us -- we had a diagnosis! She had a rare blood disorder. We were sent to a pediatric hematologist and to sum it up, Dr. Iorio saved her life. We've since brought all our kids to him and now our grandchildren see him as well. You can not do better than Dr. Louis Iorio.

We want to be very clear that Dr. DeWitt is an excellent physician, and this review is not a…read morereflection of him. However, our experience with this practice has been unacceptable and deeply concerning. We were dismissed from the office for allegedly having five "no-shows," without any prior warning, communication, or outreach whatsoever, outside of a threatening letter once it got to 5 no shows. At no point were we notified that missed appointments were accumulating, that we were at risk of dismissal, or that this was even an issue until this letter. We did not receive reminder calls, texts, or follow-up communications nor did we receive texts for appointments like they state. In all of our appointments, we probably received 3 confirmations... Additionally, their own policy states that patients will be contacted after two missed appointments -- this never occurred. We can only recall two unintentional missed appointments, during a period when our infant daughter was suffering from severe colic. Rather than showing basic understanding or attempting to communicate, this practice demonstrated a complete lack of empathy toward families with newborns. Mine you, one of the appointments they told me we no showed was the first appointment 2 days after she was born and we were still unexpectedly in the hospital as she had jaudice.... thought there would be way more compassion. Instead of reaching out to resolve the issue, we received a threatening dismissal letter without any prior discussion. This approach is alarming for a pediatric practice. The way this situation was handled felt transactional and punitive, more in line with a retail operation than a medical office entrusted with the care of babies and children. The failure to communicate, disregard for their own policies, and lack of compassion for struggling parents is unacceptable. Pediatric care should prioritize partnership, transparency, and empathy -- none of which were demonstrated here. Parents deserve to know that this practice may choose enforcement over communication, even when caring for vulnerable infants.
