Finding a good pediatrician just seems to be really tough these days. The front office staff are not very helpful and you can tell this is just a job for them. Maybe it's my Midwest roots expecting too much of anyone these days, but some genuine care would be appreciated. Especially when you charge people $100 for a new patient visit. If you have high sticker prices, it better be high sticker value and I honestly don't feel that here. I will say that when administering shots, their MA's do a great job in comparison to the last pediatric office we were at, who were rough in their administration. My issue here is that when I call, they never have same day sick appointments. This can happen occasionally but there should be better scheduling to have at least a few sick slots. On top of that, the front desk should be asking more questions around what's wrong with my child and offering solutions or something until they can get me in. Maybe it's their policy to not offer advice over the phone, not sure but it's off putting and comes off like you don't care to be so cold. This does ring true as well when in the office, very little empathy and robotic. read more

I hate this clinic. I am still searching for a better clinic. It's tough with 5 kids to get them into one office. They refused to believe me when I told them my oldest son was autistic, rushed us in, rushed us out, and "didn't receive" one of my sons records when I sent it multiple times, was told they would input it and lost the records and tried to say I never sent them....when I was IN THE OFFICE when they confirmed that they received them via email. They have no interest in what the parents say and extremely rude towards parents and children when the children are scared of the needles for vaccines. read more

My children are new patients here and we've had 2 visits so far- let me tell you, the whole staff has been nothing short of amazing! I could literally cry- we as parents love our children and obviously want the absolute best for them- and of course that branches out to having the right people in place to care for our littles At our previous pediatrician my 17 month old was always timid and never complied with checking of the ears or even letting them check in her mouth. These ladies gave my daughter complete comfort and she (without hesitation) got her ears checked. The playful and fun tone of voice , the atmosphere, the care- AMAZING! I've tried so hard to love this place! Mostly because of how close it is to my home. However, the last two visits I've had to wait minimum 30+ minutes when called back. This time the Dr. came in at 11:55 (my appt was at 11:15) and she was very rushed as the office closes for lunch at noon. It seems silly waiting that long only to speak to the doc for like 4 minutes. However, I do find the staff and NP to be very friendly when I have had to interact with them. read more

My son has been seeing this doctor since he was born. He's now four and I've had the worst experience with the front desk staff every single time I call them. They're beyond rude and careless and inconsiderate. They have very nasty attitudes and very unprofessional. The doctor herself is amazing but her front office staff is terrible. The most passionate and competent pediatrician I've ever seen. No matter how busy, Dr.Shakoor finds a way to make each and every patient a priority. I've had emergency situations where I needed immediate counseling and Dr.Shakoor never hesitated to help me. I couldn't recommend her more. Dr. Sumbul Shakoor was a little dismissive of me today when the topic of vaccines came up... She advocated that we get the Covid vaccine, but we explained we caught Covid early on during my wife's pregnant and had no problems fighting it off since we are both young-ish and healthy; barley any symptoms. She advocated we still get it. I asked, "Didn't an Israel study show that Natural Immunity was 13x stronger than the vaccine?". Dr. Sumbul said no, while gaslighting me, saying there was no study.. Maybe you were just unaware, so please just do a simple search on Google for the Israel Study of 2.5M people; a bunch of articles come up. Sumbul also mentioned that if my wife were vaccinated the antibodies would transfer to the baby through breast milk. We actually looked into this early on and this also happens through natural immunity as well. The human body is amazing! I'm obviously not a doctor, but it seems strange that you would be so dismissive of this today telling me there was no study. Hasn't Natural immunity always been established as an amazing thing? It's not often I get to talk to doctors, I had more question, but could tell you might have been triggered that I wasn't vaccinated so I stopped asking questions. We will request the NP Mary on our next visit, who by the way is awesome! She's been very patient with us as first time parents and willing to answer all our questions and concerns. Sumbul also mentioned to us that more children are being hospitalized from covid. I'm not sure if you seen what Dr. Fauci recently said (12/30/21) about the numbers of children hospitalizations being incorrect; "if you look at the children hospitalized, many of them are hospitalized with covid, as apposed to because of covid", which makes sense if Omicron spreads easier and is less deadly. Maybe you were just unaware of this too. Children seem to have way less issues with any of these variants anyways, unless they have any pre-existing comorbidities.. all great things I'd love to ask my child's doctor... I would love to talk to a doctor who would try to answer all my questions. I thought that's what patients were supposed to do, ask your doctor. I'm not an anti-vaxxer... we are getting our daughter all of her immunization shots. I know the data for this Covid vaccine shows it causes way less hospitalizations across all age groups... but my wife and I have chosen not to get this vaccination since we are young-ish and healthy, had natural immunity, chances of death is very low, and this mRNA vaccine seemed very rushed. Question, doesn't the mRNA vaccine attack 1 protein, the spike protein, while natural immunity attacks the entire virus? Seems better... Isn't this how old vaccines worked? where you inject the body with a weakened or dead virus, so the body can take it apart and figure out how to beat it. idk, I'm not a doctor, but again, all questions I would love to have answered. Both Dr. Sumbul Shakoor and Nurse Practitioner Mary Margaret Rivera have wonderful bedside manners, provide compassionate care, and are up-to-date with pediatric best practices. Every visit, our child receive a book because they understand the importance of reading and participate with Reach Out & Read. Vaccinations are never fun, but children receive a sticker or prize from the treasure chest after getting them (if your child's provider isn't advocating for vaccinations, then they aren't putting your child's health first - seriously, there is no debate on vaccinations and if you're still interested in debating it, your science teacher did you a major disservice). read more

I've brought my children to Chandler Pediatrics for the past 9 years. Could not be happier with the care and attention from Dr. Sumbool or the nurses or staff! They are prompt with returning calls and getting me the answers I have needed. Offices are always clean and organized. And if we have to wait at some visits to be seen, there are some visits when we are in and out within 30 minutes or less! I'd gladly continue with all my kids to be Dr. Sumbool's patients but 2 have aged out of pediatric care when they turned 18. I'm still bringing my daughter here and will continue till she hits 18. Dr. Shakoor WAS my daughter's regular pediatrician. On November 30, 2021, while in the office for a different reason, I requested, from the front desk personnel, an appointment to screen my child for ADHD and ADD. The front desk made the appointment without any mention of any documentation that I should bring to support the request for screening. I arrived at the appointment with my daughter on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 4:15 pm. As soon as the doctor came in she asked what we were being seen for. I stated that I would like my child screened for ADHD as she has had some overall behavioral issues at school, and I would like to identify any issues early in order to support her. Dr. Shakoor refused to screen. She started, " *child* goes to a public school, the school needs to do the evaluation because it's their job to provide the support if she does have ADHD and that is what your tax payer funding goes too." She also stated, "With your insurance, you can get in to see a psychologist, they can also do an evaluation" She refused several more times to discuss anything related to the point of the visit. Finally, after demanding the ADHD screening forms she gave them to me. I requested a copy of her formal write up for our appointment and she has documented "facts" about my child's temperament, disposition, and social interactions; that we did not discuss. Because of her refusal to do an evaluation of even basic questions related to behavioral concerns, my child's care has been delayed. Her staff failed to disclose that they do not screen for ADHD. Dr. Shakoor falsified information pertaining to our visit. They are now trying to bill for a sick visit as if they did anything, when in reality they refused to do any screening or provide any medical direction. This is not the first time they have billed incorrectly either. Last year at my daughter's well-check, she happened to have a broken arm. I received a bill for her well visit stating they treated her broken arm. They did no such thing, we had already been to a pediatric orthopedic doctor who has given us all the medical advice that was necessary. read more

My daughter just moved to Chandler and she chose Chandler Pediatrics because they pierce ears. I emailed the medical forms to the office which was convenient. I brought my grand daughter in for the first time today and I loved the decorations. Karen was very informative and answered all of my questions. The office staff were so kind to write down the baby's information so my daughter can record in the baby book. I felt the exam rooms needed to be cleaner as the floor and children's furniture had not been cleaned in awhile. Also I did not see any medical school documents. I like to see where the doctor attended med school. read more

I am very happy how they don't just try one thing to fight my kids illnesses they actually really look in to the problem and brake it down so they can get the right material. I've been taking my daughter (aged 2) since she was born. The first few times we saw Dr. Shakoor and I actually really enjoyed her. She was very knowledgeable and seemed to care for her patients. But after the first few visits with Dr. Shakoor we started seeing multiple NP's. Literally every time we came for a well child check it was a different NP and I did not like that at all. With seeing a new NP every single time it gives you no time to actually get to know them, express your concerns, or have the children gain trust/feel comfortable. Since then, this place overall has gone downhill. You have a TINY waiting room (with 10 kids mushed in and running around at the same time), front office girls that are unprofessional and just want you out of there, different NP's/doctors every single time (so don't get comfortable with one), and the feeling of always being rushed out.. Now, I have had enough after going here loyally for two years that I have decided to switch to a new pediatrician in hopes that my kids can see the same doctor every visit and actually feel comfortable when there. I strongly suggest to shop around for a different pediatrician/office because here you will not get the quality of service your children need! read more
