This facility is not accountable for their actions. My son was mis diagnosed which caused emotional distress. They referred us to a specialist for something he never had! After going to the specialist who asked a couple very basic questions it was clear he had something else that was not even necessary for us going to them. They now refuse to accept responsibility. Also they will shame you for making personal decisions for your children's vaccine schedule. Taking our business of 13 years elsewhere. read more

We started going here when we moved to town 2 years ago. Everytime we go see a Dr we have to wait 45 min in the room until a Dr comes to see my kids. I recently called to get a medication refilled and the dr refused to do it because my kid was overdue for a well exam by a month. The Dr would rather refuse helping my kid than giving her the meds she needed at the time and having us book the well exam. Super bad service. They could have easily sent the prescription in and asked us to make the well exam appointment at that time. They just lost two patients over this read more

One of the best pediatrics offices I have found! They always have a ton of availability for sick kids on short notice and have two offices to choose from. We see Dr. H and love how he spends time answering all of our questions and preparing us for what to expect next. The staff is super knowledgeable and quick to get you in and out. The best part is they offer Twighlight services from 6-10pm Monday- Saturday that doesn't require an appointment. It's slightly more expensive, but not near the cost or wait of an urgent care or hospital. Parking can be a little tough, but I highly recommend this office for new or experienced parents! read more

We've been bringing our kids here for years, and after the last couple of follow up visits I've had with my daughter, I won't be returning. Like other reviews have stated, they're all about pushing vaccines. I've turned down the HPV vaccine multiple times and each time was made to feel guilty about it. The quality of care is in the trash. The rest of the world is catching on to more of a holistic approach, but not these doctors. We'll be finding a new office that is willing to work as a team. read more

Please align your welcome paperwork to your actual policy and practice. The one pager states that vaccines are not mandatory but now at our 2 month check in we have been told if we choose not to vaccinate then we are invited not come back. That is fine if you want to run your practice like that no matter if I agree or disagree but you should not state you will not turn away people regardless of vaccination decision in your paperwork then. Is this a numbers game where if you can sway someone to get vaccinate you continue to see them but dont want to scare them away to early? Bad business whatever the reason and certainly not inline with the oath you take when becoming a doctor. read more

Left my sons 2 year wellness check up in tears after seeing Dr Carroll. After telling me what vaccines we are doing today I kindly told him were not planning on doing them at this time. He was so pushy in asking why and what I've been reading and told me that it's the devils work to not vaccinate. Bringing up politics and religion saying he won't be able to go on a "mission", well we're not Mormon and also saying he wont get into schools and etc. He continued to make me so uncomfortable about my choice for my own child. After he found out we were not going to do what he's been pushing the last 15 minutes he was trying to leave the room when I had questions I wanted addressed about my sons speech and so on. He gave one worded answers and didn't care to engage any longer. He left with saying we will need to find my son a new pediatrician that they require all vaccinations. We've been going here almost 6 months with our first baby, and it's a simple place but we get right in and out with no worries. I haven't used their same-day or Twilight appointments yet, but for her 2- and 4-month appointments, everything went smooth. Dr. Carroll is great, he gets through things quickly and asks if we have any questions. Nurse Melanie is great too and they seem very calm and not too worried when we bring things up like spit up or ear infections, they just check real quick and move on. The front waiting room is a little outdated/seems not too clean which is why I'm docking one star, but we don't have our baby touch the toys (she's not old enough) and we usually only wait 5-10 mins each time to be seen. Front office staff have been courteous and fine, everything has gone smoothly. Will keep this updated as we use them. read more

Absolutely love Dr Leavitt, he is the only reason we will always continue to come to this place. But I do not recommend coming to the twilight Pediatrics (their after hours). I find out it's a co pay the gotta add my other kid to get looked at it's another 21 dollars for now both of kids 42 dollars. I could have taken them to an urgent care been in and out no co pay and wouldn't have waited for over an hour to be seen. I understand but even a hey it's gonna be a while, I could've made the decision to go somewhere else. Like I said Dr Leavitt will always keep us coming back not so much after hours though. read more

My nephews are patients at Gilbert Pediatrics. I accompanied them for an appointment with Dr. Leavitt, and he was outstanding -- kind, patient, helpful and skillful. I'm glad my nephews have this great doctor taking care of them. I also like that they have a well child entrance and waiting area, and a sick child entrance and waiting area to try to curtail the spreading of germs. read more

I had the day off of work and decided to accompany my wife to our 9months old shots. We have a 7 yr and 10 yr old that have seen the same doctor. As a dad I can honestly say my visits have been minimal. Today confirmed this reason.Bothered by bad to say about our dr, DR Guthrie, but let me share my experience. We arrived 15min early to our appointment to be told that the Dr is not in today for "Our appointment" but that another dr was seeing his Patients and was more than double booked. The front office lady said she couldn't tell us how long we would have to wait. Since we weren't rushed we opted to wait. The front office is not friendly and lacks basic customer service skills. Needless to say we have been sitting here for 20minutes with no communication, so I have decided to communicate to the community! I chose this office for my daughter's routine well-child visits and have never had an issue there. Recently, we had to come in twice for same day urgent appointments and I've been very happy with the services and care we received. My 5 year old was quickly diagnosed with pneumonia and we were able to get her on antibiotics right away. I've never had to wait for long in the exam room before seeing a practitioner. After calling the after hours line for advice, the office called us back the next morning and set up an appointment. They also called back two days later to make sure my daughter was feeling better. Overall they have been very attentive and kind which is all I can ask. read more

They're great listeners, engage the kiddos while doing their exams & you can tell they love their work. Never had a problem with some of the other complaints in other reviews. I'm shaking my head at some of these negative reviews... seriously entitled people with no understanding of the history and background of the community they live in. My four children have received phenomenal care from the physicians at Gilbert Pediatrics since 2006. Yeah, sometimes their office staff is a little rough, but everybody has Monday's, right?! My seven year old daughter deep sliced her leg open when she fell on a garden tool after trying to climb a fence. I rushed her in to Dr Leavitt, who calmly (and with a glorious sense of humor) was able to soothe her sobs while he stitched her leg up. Another time, my baby was admitted to Cardon Children's for a bowel obstruction and Dr Auxier personally called and checked on us EVERY DAY while she was an inpatient... and then continued to follow up after she was discharged. I cannot think of any other children's healthcare professionals I would rather have in my corner as a mother! These doctors volunteer countless hours to run free and reduced immunization clinics in and around Chandler and they donate a lot of time and money supporting our community. Dr Auxier and his wife recently had a new elementary school named for them! Gilbert Peds has supported me as a parent and been there for all of my kids through the kids health stuff, from ADHD to the ear infections! I love them and support them 200%!! For those that are worried about gender confusion issues, you need to allow these doctors to be who they are, just as you want others to let you, and your kids be who they are! Stop complaining and just go find someone who works with what you need... you wouldn't go to a grocery store and then complain that they can't change your oil. Same principle. We met Dr. Jacks for the first time this week. He was AMAZING with our 2 year old! We moved here from NV and loved our pediatrician there. We are happy to report Dr. Jacks has filled his shoes. He gave us his time and LISTENED, but most importantly I appreciated the way he talked with our daughter and approached her. Their interaction was sweet & she was talking about him the rest of the day. He's down to earth, kind, and very knowledgeable. The staff was wonderful in the front and the nurse was awesome when she gave our 2 year old shots. She didn't even cry & she had BOTH arms done. Great office, great people. Some of these negative reviews seem ridiculous to me. You're bound to wait at a doctors office, it's going to happen sometime. That's usually not the doctors fault, it's other patients or something out of their control happening. We had a strange experience at a different pediatric office, which led us to taking my daughter here. We've had Debbie each time and just love her! She's so friendly, great with our baby girl, and takes the time to listen and answer our questions. I feel like she genuinely cares about our little one and that means the world to me. Called to schedule an appointment for my two year old daughter who's been going to Gilbert pediatrics since she was a newborn because it seems to me she has an ear infection, she keeps grabbing her ears and also has a runny nose but they won't see her because she has a cough... NO FEVER BTW, they want to do a video call so I asked them how in the world are you supposed to check her ears in a video call...? It's ridiculous. Dr. Randy Leavitt is the best Doctor ever. Not only did Gilbert Pediatrics provide the greatest level of care to my newborn, they went the extra mile with their compliments and customer service. I actually owe many thanks to Dr. Leavitt and the people of Gilbert Pediatrics for taking a thoughtful moment and giving a very considerate and well thought recommendation for my wife as to which OBGYN she should see. Turned out to be one of the greatest suggestions as he discovered certain things early which allowed us to resolve a medical condition that would have become much worse. Dr. Auxier told my transgender son (a person he had been treating for 14 years) that he was not supportive of the transgender/gay lifestyle and suggested we take him to another doctor. This is not acceptable to me and I will be taking this up with the Arizona Medical Board, the Arizona Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Here is the AAP's official statement on transgender children: "The American Academy of Pediatrics stands in support of transgender children and adults, and condemns attempts to stigmatize or marginalize them. We believe transgender individuals are not a "disruption." They are members of our families, our communities, and our work force. "As pediatricians, we know that transgender children fare much better when they feel supported by their family, school and larger community. Shaming children based on their gender identity or expression is harmful to their social-emotional health and may have lifelong consequences. This includes public discourse that de-legitimizes the contributions that transgender individuals make to society. "The AAP supports policies that are gender-affirming for children - an approach that is supported by other key professional organizations. In 2016, the AAP joined with other organizations to produce the document, "Supporting & Caring for Transgender Children," a guide for community members and allies to ensure that transgender young people are affirmed, respected, and able to thrive. "We urge all the leaders in our communities to use language that inspires and empowers children, adolescents and young adults. Our nation's future success depends on them." I was referred here here by the nurses at Banner Gateway after my son was born pre-maturely. From the get go, they have been very helpful and informative. We receive excellent care in a very timely manner. We've even utilized Twilight Pediatrics and it was excellent. LOVE LOVE LOVE this office!!! I've been going to them since my first son was born 6.5 years ago. 3 kids later I still love them and their doctors. I normally see Dr. Leavitt but I have seen each doctor and PA and they are all wonderful. Yes of course sometimes they get behind, but what doctors office doesn't especially when dealing with children? I've gone to them for well visits, ear aches, bronchitis, stitches, etc. and have always felt like they've given the best care possible. We have been bringing our four children to Gilbert Pediatrics for nearly ten years and truly appreciate the care we receive from Dr. Auxier. Sam Shumway, the PA, is also WONDERFUL! At each visit, he takes the time to address the parents concerns, does a thorough physical exam and explains his diagnosis in an easy to follow manner. We are truly impressed with him and will continue to request him and Dr. Auxier at future visits. Wait times can be lengthy, however, for the quality care we receive, we will continue to be patient. I have been taking my three kiddos to Gilbert Peds since they were born. I have since decided to find a different pediatrician for them. We started off with Dr. Auxier but after he kept asking me why I was not Mormon any more and saying that my husband would be a great priesthood holder, we decided to change doctors, giving the practice another shot. We started seeing Sam Shumway, and he appeared to be just amazing. I referred tons of people to him because I really did like him. The last visit we were at I was there for my 3 and 4 year old. They both had ear infections and strep. I asked him about my 2 year old and he just checked her over since we were there. I asked him and even offered to schedule another appointment to take care of her if need be, but he did it as a favor since I was already there. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Before the end of the appointment, he does what he usually does, he looked me in the eye and said if I need anything, call him. So the next day, when my two year old that he just checked over spiked a fever, I called and left a message. The nurse, who had been completely flat out wrong anytime I have ever asked her for advice, tried giving me advice but had no clue that Sam had looked over my little one the day before, as it wasn't notated. Totally a favor. No big deal, I ask her to please have HIM call me since he would know the situation. A few hours later, the same nurse called me back and said that Sam was slammed and couldn't call me back and continued to give me advice even though she didn't know the situation. Moral of the story, he didn't honor his words when he said to call him with questions. Honestly made me feel like he isn't truly a doctor who can provide care for my children. Bummer. We have since been black listed because of a balance past due. They didn't have my new phone number, and I was too angry to call and pay the balance. But the other reviewer who said he was blacklisted is credited because it happened to us too. We are paying it, but it's a sure sign that this is no longer the place for us. The billing lady, Jamie, is awesome. But the front staff is always dry and the nurse is dead wrong every time. Once told me to Rush to the office because my son had "RSV" which ended up just being a cough, and another time said that my daughter, who was 4 months old just had a cold and it was no big deal, I finally took her in and she had double ear infections. A big bummer, but I am optimistic that we will find a pediatrician who seems like they actually care about the kiddos. read more

I done with Gilbert Peds. I have been taking my daughter to the Greenfield and Baseline office since she was born, six years ago. And this week was the straw that broke the camels back. Never, not once in all these years have they ever been on time. Not even when I've sent my husband to take our daughter. We were in the office on Friday and needed to return on Tuesday. Arrived at 3:20 for a 3:30 appointment, didn't get into our room until 4:15. After telling the nurse of my frustrations the doctor was in our room by 4:25. I understand that doctors can't anticipate how long an unexpected diagnosis might take, but I've given 6 years of excuses for this office---it just comes down to a poorly run office. Not to mention the office itself is uninviting and not very kid friendly. Used dirty childrens books in the rooms and LDS materials for adult. read more

I am a new mom and I also have an 11-year-old daughter who visits from NJ during the summers. I started going to Gilbert Pediatrics because my OB recommended Dr. Auxier when I was pregnant. When my step-daughter's mother asked if we could get my step-daughter's 11-year-old shots while she was here, we told her we could during my son's 2-month wellness check on August 14. Without these shots, she could not attend school when she returned to NJ. She was flying back to NJ the weekend before school started, so it only made sense for her to do it here. On August 14, we got my son's wellness check, and he and his sister got their shots. Upon leaving the office that day, I asked the office staff to please fax the shot records back to the office of her main doctor in NJ. They said they would. I told my step-daughter's mother that it was done and the shot records would be faxed back. I didn't think about the shot records again ... until the Friday before school started when my step-daughter's mother called from NJ saying that the shot records were NOT in her doctor's office; therefore, she couldn't bring them to the school. I immediately called Gilbert Pediatrics (around 9:30 a.m.) and explained that I am not sure why they were not faxed previously on August 14 when I originally asked, but if she could do it that day. I explained the consequences of if she did not do it, that my child would not be able to attend her first day of school that following Tuesday. The woman I spoke with said she could do it, said she had the fax number, and I got off the phone, once again letting my step-daughter's mother know that it was being done right then. Tuesday, the first day of school, I got a phone call again from my step-daughter's mother that her shot records had ONCE AGAIN NOT BEEN FAXED TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE IN NJ. I was furious this time. I called Gilbert Pediatrics and did not ask but TOLD them to fax it right now with me on the phone and I would not get off the phone until I got a confirmation. The woman asked for the fax number ... the same fax number that was on the original records sent to their office. I told them to forget it. I got my 2-month old son in the hot car and drove to Gilbert Pediatrics myself. I got copies of both my son and daughter's records because I do not plan to bring either child back to this office. On the front of my daughter's shot records was the fax number. Two women in the office explained to me that when they tried to fax the records, both on August 14 and the Friday before, that the number was busy each time they tried. My frustration with this office and the incompetent staff is that no one thought to pick up the phone to call me, her mother, so I knew they were not able to fax it so I could figure it out so MY DAUGTHER COULD ATTEND HER FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. When I asked the staff why no one called me, she didn't answer the question or give me an apology. She just repeated that they tried to fax it repeatedly. I explained how absolutely disappointed I was in their office because no one had the sense to call me to inform me of this. The worst part of this story comes now ... upon leaving the office, I went to a Postal Connections and had her shot records faxed to the same number the staff at Gilbert Pediatrics said they tried repeatedly and only got a busy signal. Guess what? My fax went through the first time just fine, and my daughter was able to attend the second day of school. Why is it that I can fax it fine by their office staff couldn't? Same number people! I spoke to Dr. Auxier the next day to explain why I would not be returning to his office, so he knew what went on in the front of his practice. Whether he decides to deal with his staff appropriately is his own choice, but I hope he does give consequences for what his staff did ... or didn't do really. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Dr. Auxier was nice, but who wants to go to an office where you can't trust your kids' health records with the office staff? P.S. I had the same experience with immunizations as Mandy writes about on here as well. They made me call my insurance once I was there for my appointment. Try doing that with a crying 2-month old while in a doctor's office! Why don't they tell you that before you come in? I could have quietly been able to call my insurance beforehand. My daughter was coughing hard and I decide to take her in for a check. Dr, Sam Shumway rushed in for 2 minutes and made the decision, she has asthma and prescribed Albuterol sulfate for my two year old. I was not sure whether my two year old will cooperate and he said newborn babies will be fine. we were rushed out from the office and got nervous about the whole diagnosis but as he is the doctor I have to choose to trust. And then 2nd night my daughter developed a fever 101. So it is a bacteria or virus not asthma. My doubt is right. We will see how correct my doubt is after i take my daughter to another office today. it was not professional to diagnose something just within two minutes without check the nose and even the mouth of my kid. These guys are just terrible. The front office staff is rude and unhelpful. The whole place is outdated and disgusting. I feel like there is germs EVERYWHERE. They send nasty bill notices saying they will blacklist you but never call you to tell you face to face if you owe money. The doctors are unhelpful and have quite honestly just given me horrible advice. There is always a 15-20 min wait even if your there early or on time. And at the end of the day their just rude. read more

I've read some of the negative reviews on here and really these sound like a lack of planning and getting mad over no reason. However my experience has been absolutely great here. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to see someone and our visits have always been very thorough with information and any and everything that's going on. We see Sam who is just the best and I trust him fully with my infant. read more

Our oldest daughter (age 8) was taken in to GILBERT PEDIATRIC for what we thought was a simple ear infection. She was diagnosed with an ear infection and when we specifically asked about the "droopiness" of the right side of her face the Nurse Practitioner said "things should go back to normal within a few days of taking the antibiotics" which BTW cost us over $100 (yay no insurance). 3 days later and her face still droopy we called in and asked about it and the nurse on the phone said to definitely get her back in. Long story short she had Bells Palsy (paralysis of the face) was mis-diagnosed the first time by the nurse practitioner, asked to come back in for a follow up when she was officially diagnosed with Bells Palsy, given a steroid and an anti-viral (which she couldn't swallow) and the Dr. this time said to follow up in 4 weeks. We followed up with no change and got nothing in return except a "if there is no improvement in two months let us know and we will do some testing and possibly get her in to a neurologist." I called to make just a regular physical for all three of our kids before we left the country to adventure and the front office was awful and wouldn't fit us in at all. We left the country and got a nice collections call from their office saying we owe them $90. Never a follow up about our oldest, never a "how is she doing" from the Dr or nurse practitioner who failed to diagnose the situation correctly from the beginning, or a is she cured (which she is no thanks to them). We love the actual doctors in the office but the front office staff is absolutely HORRIBLE!!!! Be prepared to have them answer with "we have a full schedule" or "the doctors are all full but we have an appointment with a nurse practitioner. read more

We bring our daughter here since she was born 5 years ago. I have to honestly said that Dr Leavitt and Dr Guthrie are great doctors. Sometimes when she fell ill and in order to have a peace of mind, we simply brought her in. I do not see them trying to "sell' me medication by prescribing any kind of prescriptive drugs if is unnecessary. All they advise me is I have a choice to go and buy some medicine over the counter, or just let her rest and drink plenty of water! I am somewhat 'old fashion' and don't believe in feeding too much drugs for my kid. I have to say that the waiting time is always long even is a scheduled appointment. Waited in the front desk can be quick, but after the nurse called you in and take the kid's temperature, weight etc. there is another round of waiting, as bad as more then 40 mins. The entire visit can be simply 10mins but take 1-hour or more to see the Dr. I understand this is a busy office operating in 2 locations, and when you call the front desk to schedule any kind of appointment, whoever answer it always seems to ask you to hold....somewhat under-staff?! read more

When I picked my son up from daycare last night he had a high fever and his chest was "rattling" with every breathe. Scary. A friend recommended we go to Twilight Pediatrics (6-10pm) at Gilbert Pediatrics. I wouldn't recommend going when they open at 6. The people that came in around 8 were being seen at about the same time as the people that had been waiting since six. Much better to wait at home if you can in my opinion... That being said, we waited for about 2 hours, but there was a movie playing at all times, and there were plenty of hands on kids toys to keep all the kiddo's busy. When we got back to a room we only had to a wait a few minutes before the LPN came in. She was really nice and quick about everything, and she took the time to make sure I understood the answers to my questions. I hope I don't need an urgent care again but if I do it'll be Twilight Pediatrics. read more

Cons: Outdated decor Pros: Friendly doctors and PAs that take the time to listen and make thoughtful diagnoses, same day appointments (crucial for kiddos), evening and weekend hours I have been taking my kiddos here since they were born (I have a 2.5 year old and a 5 month old) and I think we have seen every doctor/PA they have on staff. Each experience has been positive. The doctors listen and obviously take the parents' concerns seriously. Well check ups are quick and straight forward. We have always been able to get a same day appointment when the kiddos have gotten sick. They even have evening and Saturday hours! read more

I have taken my 5-year old to Gilbert Pediatrics since he was born. Interacting with this office, both doctors and the administration staff, has been nothing short of a nightmare!! I continued to go back thinking that things would get better.... ALL of the office staff is incredibly rude and every one of them has an attitude! (It wouldn't hurt to smile once and a while) The doctors are always running way behind schedule. They did not know how to interact with my children and always seemed to be in a hurry. The doctors would never answer any of my questions or address my concerns. The waiting room is always a disaster and just looks dirty! I have never written a review online before, but felt a certain sense of duty to warn other parents of how horrible this office is! We now go to Mesa Pediatrics and LOVE them!! If you call to schedule a same day appointment, chances are they'll either already be full or you'll have one appointment option. If they were full, I'd just wait to go in until their Twilight hours began in the evening. The office staff does their job but they're not very friendly. No warm greeting or smiles. The overall cleanliness of the place is mediocre. The tiles and grout are so dirty, the toys don't look clean and I'm pretty sure they've had the same wallpaper for 20 years. The entire place could use an update- like a fresh coat of paint and a deep cleaning on the tiles. The doctors are older, which isn't all bad but I felt like they weren't up on latest research, just gave rote answers to concerns I had. They give you prescriptions on paper rather than having them electronically sent to a pharmacy. None of this was horrible, but I've definitely experienced better. The only reason I kept going back was the proximity of it to my home, their Twighlight hours were an amazing option and I loved the care we got from their PA, Sam. He always listened to concerns, was informative and up on current research. If you go, I highly recommend seeing the PA or the NP, they're both awesome. read more

RUN RUN RUN..... Worst doctors I have ever been to. Lack complete compassion or respect for others time. They don't know how to run there business. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. I am very dissapointed. They never run on time and there accounting practices are the worst I have ever seen. There are so many options for physicians these days... DON"T GO HERE. Further every time we went they billed incorrect and did nothing to help and quote "It's not there job to work with the insurance company" Unless you want to spend time working on insurance claims everytime I would run as fast as I can. read more
