JJs Pediatric Office
Jessica A.

I love JJs pediatric. We have been coming here since my son was born. The past year it has gotten so busy that we haven't been able to get in directly with Dr. Dewitt who we absolutely adore! He's the best! But the NPs are great too. We used Alayna a few times and she's listens and answers questions I have. I feel like she does listen to concerns you have regardless if is something minor or not.

There policy states you can arrive 10 minutes late you may have to wait or at the physicians discretion. I was 7 minutes late and was told by one staff member because I was late I would need to be rescheduled. I was then placed on hold for 15 minutes before I was told I would be called to check in shortly. However I received a call I thought that was to check-in was only to inform me I would be waiting if an appointment was cancelled. She did seem friendly then the last staff member provided me the option to put me into another appointment at 10:15am instead of waiting who knows how long. I do appreciate the second staff member as I am usually on time and 7 minutes late should have not causes any delays. I am usually the one waiting whether it be inperson or in my car patiently after check-in and being seen on time of the actual appointment time is very rare. A little disappointing since we liked them and got comfortable with them and had no idea they moved or were leaving until we made our next appointment. Loved Dr Potts all around and Dr Yin was very knowledgeable but now we see Dr Allred whom my son LOVES! I have the typical toddler who cries with any healthcare personnel he sees but he is so good for Dr Allred! She is so sweet, personal, knowledgeable and always takes my concerns into consideration. My son never cries when he sees her and actually looks forward to seeing her! One star removed for the billing area. I have had a few issues with being double billed, having an extra statement that was already paid in office or insurance not getting the correct information so I would get charged for something that I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. I have had many calls with the office and communication with the front desk and insurance and it's always been cleared up but watch your statements.

If you're looking for a pediatrician's office that puts children and families first, LOOK ELSEWHERE! In my experience, this office seems more focused on finding ways to charge families than actually providing quality pediatric care. What should be a routine, covered well-child visit somehow turns into an opportunity for additional charges. The constant nickel-and-diming is absolutely ridiculous. Families should not have to worry about being hit with unexpected bills every time they take their child to the doctor. And the billing department? RELENTLESS. They certainly seem to have plenty of time and energy to hound families about payments. I wish that same level of dedication went toward providing a positive patient experience. What bothers me even more is the attitude of some of the providers and medical assistants. If you work in pediatrics, patience with children should be a basic job requirement, not an optional personality trait. Children can be scared, overwhelmed, emotional, or simply act their age. Watching medical professionals display short tempers and little patience with kids is incredibly disappointing. Save yourself the frustration, unexpected expenses, and aggravation. STAY FAR, FAR AWAY! There are pediatric practices that understand the importance of treating both children and parents with compassion, professionalism, and respect. This office has given me no reason to believe it is one of them.

I had been going through 6 years of er visits, urgent care, specialists and former primary care for 9 years for horrible stomach issues but mainly the upper right quadrant pain. When everyone else kept turning me away and treating me as a hypochondriac, dr. Tsai did not...he did anything and everything and even more than I ever could have imagined. Two months ago, things got so severe I was praying to wake up and be with my family for another day...I've never felt so close to death. Immediately got me into urgent screening (even though their wait was two weeks) and a day later called the top surgeon and got me in...tests showed really nothing too bad but it was the exact opposite once they opened me up...one of the worst they have seen and have no idea how it's gone undetected for 6 years even just two days prior to my surgery. When you see him, he addresses everything even if you're there for one issue and he sees an issue like a cold, he won't let you go until he has checked everything to make sure you are leaving the office 100% Ontop of that, he has been so thoughtful as to check in with me every step of the way since I've been his patient to make sure I am okay. The patients are his #1 priority and care. I will stay with him for life! I could go on and on for a 10 page letter for him and how over the top wonderful this man is! I also have seen barb on multiple occasions and, wow oh wow..what a personality and sympathy she has for her patients..my husband is her patient and it's so nice to have both doctors working with each other for our family. she is always making sure everything is going good, no matter what the situation. Keeping in touch with me about his care and vise versa Ontop of that the One Medical staff members have always been there to answer calls for questions, concerns paperwork and they are always on top of it and they really get to know you personally. It's nice to walk in and get greeted by my name and to see such lovely bright faces so happy to see me. We can not wait for them to open their pediatric rooms next year...the second they do, our son will be a patient for life as well. One medical staff, dr. Tsai, and barb you guys really have touched our hearts in so many ways it's like family. If you want care, that really cares, and goes above and beyond for you in anyway possible with always feeling like you are loved as a patient please please please come here and switch your medical group. Thanks for saving my life, and my husbands! Bless everyone at one medical and your hearts of gold!

Alright this is going to be a long one, so bear with me! I really can't say enough about Dr…read more Vaughan, he is by far the best Pediatrician my kids have ever had. My oldest has Autism and he shows him nothing but kindness and patience. My 4 year old, is well, a 4 year old and no matter how crazy my son is being in the room, Dr. Vaughan talks to him and has nothing but patience with him. Now on to my 3 month old... we chose Dr. Vaughan right before he was born. When we went to our first visit, I was quite blown away. My other two boys have seen many doctors, but no one has ever treated us like this. When he walks through the door of the exam room, you can feel a sense of comfort and love. You can just tell how much he loves what he does. And being a stay at home mom and a full time student isn't easy, but he always makes time to ask how I am doing. And I know it is a genuine question. My 3 month old has had some health issues and after different roads taken on treatment, Dr. Vaughan called the hospital and got him admitted right away. Because of this amazing man, we would have never known about some of the health issues my son has. (we found these in scans) He received a feeding tube while in the hospital and still has it to this day. (weight issues and feeding disorder) Dr. Vaughan has always been on top of checking his weight, making sure he is gaining and not having issues feeding. What amazes me is the fact that every couple days or so, I receive a phone call from Dr. Vaughan and his office staff, asking how Mason is doing. I have never had anyone care so much for my child before. He is always on top of referrals and calls you when he says he will. (I've even received calls from him directly.) Not many doctors take the time to call on their own. Yesterday I visited the office with my little man and the Doctor asked about one of the specialists Mason saw. I let him know my concerns and what he said. There is this issue that I have with doctors that seem to bug me so much. When you are talking to them about your child and they are looking at the time and look like they are just dazed and somewhat paying attention to you.... Ya, this doesn't happen here. You can feel the empathy from Dr. V. He gets upset if your child isn't receiving the utmost care from specialists. HE NEVER GIVES UP! He will ride out this journey with you until everything is figured out. Dr. V also sits in the room with you until you have said all you have to say. Many times I'll be looking at my son or saying a little something to myself about something I am curious about. He immediately says, "What's going on Mama?". There is no dumb question and he makes sure to tell you this. He will literally sit with you until every question is answered. The way he explains things is quite amazing to say the least. If I ask a question about something, he will skip the medical lingo and go right to giving an example from something familiar. Not once have I been confused about what he talks about. He always makes sure we leave understanding everything. And today... I received a call from the office staff saying that Dr. Vaughan worked on my son's referral for a new GI and he had faxed it around 4 this morning.... what???! So your saying this man works around the clock to make sure my child receives the best care? INCREDIBLE. He fights for you. He will do anything in his power to make sure you are receiving the proper care from specialists. Oh, and let me say... the communication is awesome! They communicate so well with my son's home nurse, getting orders filled and questions answered right away! I am so happy with Dr. Vaughan, that if we do ever end up changing insurances, I will make sure that he accepts this first. I want my kids to see him and only him. I trust him to the fullest. He is one of the greatest Doctors I've ever met!!! Thank you Dr. V and staff! Ashley, Mason, Christian, Adam and Obdulio (Martinez family)!

1 Star -- Extremely Unprofessional and Disrespectful of My Time…read more I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Springfield Pediatrics. I arrived for my child's 10:30 a.m. appointment on August 24th. When I walked in, I clearly stated that I was there for my child's 10:30 appointment. The first thing I was told was that my child did not have an appointment. I explained that my child absolutely did have an appointment, and I pulled out my phone and showed the staff member the confirmation text I had received. That confirmation was sent to me on June 24th, so I had every reason to believe the appointment was scheduled and confirmed. After I showed her the confirmation, she acknowledged that my child did have an appointment, but then told me that the appointment had been moved. My immediate question was: Why wasn't I notified? If the August 24th appointment had been moved, why didn't I receive a phone call or text in advance letting me know? I received the original confirmation on June 24th. Why wasn't I sent another message telling me that August 24th was no longer the appointment date? Instead, I found out only after I physically showed up to the office. I was then told that they were short-staffed and that I would have to wait. I was told, essentially, "Just wait, we're short-staffed. We'll get to you." So I sat there and waited. Then, while I was already physically sitting in the office waiting to be seen, I received a voicemail at approximately 11:20-11:21 a.m. telling me that my child's appointment had been canceled and rescheduled for August 31st. Think about that. I arrived at 10:30 for an appointment that I had received a confirmation for. I was told initially that my child didn't have an appointment. I showed them the confirmation, and they acknowledged the appointment. I was then told to wait because they were short-staffed. I sat there waiting for them to see my child, only to receive a voicemail nearly an hour later telling me that the appointment had been canceled and moved to August 31st. Why couldn't I have been notified of that before I took time off work and drove to the office? That is what is so frustrating about this entire situation. I recently started a new job, and I have to be very intentional about taking time away from work. I am also pregnant, and there are already things I have had to push aside because I started this job and have responsibilities that require me to be there. One of the things I specifically made arrangements for was my child's pediatric appointment. I took time off work because Springfield Pediatrics confirmed this appointment with me. I could have been at work making money during that time. Instead, I was sitting in the doctor's office waiting, only to receive a voicemail telling me the appointment had been canceled and rescheduled. I also raised my concerns about the situation and felt that the response I received was extremely dismissive. I was essentially told, "I don't know what to tell you." That attitude was incredibly frustrating. It felt like there was no acknowledgment that my time matters too. I understand that offices can be short-staffed. I understand that scheduling and insurance issues happen. But being short-staffed is not a reason to fail to communicate with a patient's parent about a schedule change. If my child's appointment had been moved to August 31st, I should have been notified before August 24th -- not after I had already arrived, taken time off work, and sat there waiting. And ultimately, my child was not seen. I did what I was supposed to do. I received a confirmation. I made arrangements. I showed up at the confirmed time. I showed the office the confirmation when they told me there was no appointment. I waited when I was told they were short-staffed. And after all of that, my child still did not receive the care they were supposed to receive that day. Because of how this entire situation was handled, I asked for my child to be removed as a patient from Springfield Pediatrics. I no longer felt comfortable continuing care there. This wasn't simply about having to wait. It was about communication, accountability, and respect for my time. A simple phone call or text before August 24th could have prevented this entire situation. Instead, I was left to find out about the cancellation and rescheduling while I was already sitting in their office waiting to be seen. That is not the level of communication or professionalism I expect from a pediatric office. Parents' time matters. Their jobs matter. Their schedules matter. And when an appointment is confirmed, parents should be able to rely on that confirmation -- or at the very least, receive proper notice when something changes. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Springfield Pediatrics.
