I had a furnace and central air conditioning installed by Pilchuck Heating approx 2 1/2 years ago. Everything was working great. Then the condensation pump on my furnace failed. I called yesterday and explained what the, "Symptoms", were. The issue was correctly diagnosed over the phone. The technician said he could be out today to replace the part. He was right on time. Very quick turnaround!! And, I was told the part was still under warranty, which I was not aware of. No cost to me. No delay in the fix and no issue with the warranty! They have helped me a ton. my mini split setup which has now changed 3 times due to remodel etc. they are the only ones willing to help, even though they did not install it. Extending line sets making sure my system is dialed in! recommended I believe it's Corey that has worked on my stuff and he does a fantastic job. quick, knowledgeable, and even puts up with all my stupid questions ! They have always got me on the schedule within a week too. No one else in the area was willing to assist with my Daikin system because they "didn't install it". I purchased the Groupon furnace tune-up special. I was contacted the same day by Pilchuck Heating to schedule an appointment (which was set for 3 business days after buying the special). Their tech arrived on time and spent almost a full hour going through the furnace, cleaning everything, replacing the filters, etc. He adjusted the gas valve (which was not set right) and gave me a comprehensive list of things which may need addressing down the road, based on what he saw. He even cleaned up some wiring that was not optimally laid out. I was very happy with this service, the friendliness and professionalism of the tech (C.S.), and the deal itself. When they show up, they are fine, but super unreliable. We hired Pilchuck to temporarily remove our AC unit while we poured a patio, then come back and replace it. They showed up for the removal, but I can't get them to come back. They don't respond to requests for appointments, and when you finally get one, they don't show up or they cancel at the last minute with no new eta. After weeks and weeks we finally gave up and have to hire another company to come finish the job. Now that the weather is warming up, schedules are busy and the delay with Pilchuck means we've been almost 2 months waiting for this job to finish before someone else can get out here. For many years, my furnace limped along. "Jeff" the owner, of whom I've met over the years, would came in for maintenance. Comically, there was no love between him and my old problematic furnace. But still, he gave her tender loving care until the parts started to become more than the furnace was worth. Ultimately, there was no more that could be done. Hat to chest, we bid the old gal farewell and he had a new unit installed by his staff within 3 days. My new furnace runs like a top and has no issues. The service was fast and courteous and the price was as more than reasonable! When it comes time to build anew, this company will be putting in and maintaining our next unit! This was one of the worst places ever. He came out to fix our furnace he took forever to get the part then he totally miswired it. A few months later our smoke alarm woke us up at like 3 am. Because of the bad wiring it caught fire. We tried to get him to fix it. He came out and said oh it's this part that needs replacing I'll look for it. Well it was getting hot by then and we needed our ac to work and asked him to hurry up with the part he kept giving us the run around. Saying I'm looking. We found the part for much cheaper than what he charged. He said I won't put it in. Probably because he couldn't mark up the price big time. Like 3 weeks later still no part. He never answers the phone he never replies to you. So we finally went to someone else. This person put in our part. But first he had to rewire it so it wouldn't catch fire again. Then he fixed it and came out on a Sunday. The idiot from this company would NEVER do that. Don't come here ever. Your house might burn down. BAD BAD BAD PLACE. DONT COME HERE. WARNING BAD PLACE. They came for a yearly inspection of my old furnace, saw that a part was failing, did some research to figure out this part was covered under warranty, ordered the part under warranty, and then came back and fixed it with just a labor charge. Earlier this month our 30 year old furnace finally decided to show that it was time to replace it. Unfortunately when this happened, we learned that our previous long time furnace contractor had retired 2 years earlier so I had to look around for a replacement. My wife found a great offer on Amazon Deals from Pilchuck Heating that offered a new furnace with installation for half what we had been quoted for the same Coleman unit by other HVAC contractors. Doing some research, I found that Pilchuck had better reviews than most other heating contractors with the only complaint being slow response to calls. My guess (from knowing other business owners who have offered similar type deals) is that all of the complaints for lack of responsiveness were simply a matter of people not giving a business sufficient time to respond or expecting them to call back within minutes (even on days they are closed). I called shortly after she made the purchase and Jeff called me back the next day to schedule a site inspection for the following day (Friday). He showed up on time and took about 15 minutes to inspect our old unit and to take the necessary measurements and schedule the installation for the following Monday. The installers likewise showed up on time and promptly got to work. The installation took a few hours longer than estimated because our mechanical room is on the second floor and is a tight fit with our water heater and laundry in the same space. Ultimately they did a very nice job of installing the new unit which works great, heats better, more evenly and is much quieter than our old unit. Couple of weeks after the installation, we did have some problems with the unit but Jeff called back the following day after leaving him a message and promptly came out to inspect the unit. Made a slight change to the fan speed and things seem to be working great now. Having dealt with numerous contractors over the years, I like Jeff with his being very professional, straight forward and not a customer BS in order to up sell or over charge for services. Having asked about the cost of doing some add ons that were not covered in the cost of the Amazon Deal, he gave me very reasonable quotes for those. Based on our experience, we will call on Jeff and Pilchuck Heating to handle the servicing and maintenance of our new furnace. read more

This. Company came to my house to do a routine maintenance on my furnace and AC. Four months later I went to change the filter and found out it had been running without one. The technician didn't replace the filter. Took out the dirty one closed it up. Over the last year the furnace was acting up and when it came time to use the AC this summer it wasn't cooling at all. I called out another company and they confirmed that all the coils are covered in fine dust. The system was struggling and finally gave in. I contacted Pilchuck and they refuse to come out and clean the coils. They said they would have to charge me. They wouldn't take any responsibility in damaging my system by not replacing the filter. Can you imagine how much dust is in there? The owner also refused to give me his name when I requested it 3 times. Must be ashamed of his customer service. AWFUL COMPANY. They don't stand behind their mistakes. He tried to tell me it's ok to run the system without a filter. Bunch of BS!! I will be taking them to court and filing with the BBB. read more

I received 1 voicemail back and then heard nothing from them for a couple a weeks while I tried to call them but is always went to VM. Finally today I called and said if I did not get a call today I would write a bad on groupon and yelp. Well guess 20 minutes later I get call and I get attitude from the sales person. I found Pilchuck Heating on an Amazon deal. I couldn't be more disappointed! I called left a message and NO ONE called me back. I called a second time left a message and finally my phone call was returned on a Tuesday. My appointment was set for Friday a 3pm. I was told that he is very good about being on time and if he has any issues that he will give me a call and let me know that he is running a bit late. I left work early arrived at my house at 2:45 on March 21st to ensure I was there in the event he arrived a little early. Almost unbelievable, 3pm came and went, without a phone call. I left 3 messages and have NEVER EVER heard back from anyone! Still to this date April 10, 2014 I have not heard from anyone at Pilchuck heating! I was finally refunded my money from Amazon! Based on recommendations I chose Pilchuck Heating over a lower bid and regret it. They installed a complete Daikin FIT heat pump system and when they left it seemed to only produce luke warm air and took hrs to get our house up to 69 degrees. By next morning the house was 60 degrees with cold air coming out the vents. I did get a quick response that morning and after 3 hrs of rework the system was working. The system had frozen up because the installers did not measure the coolant line and failed to add enough refrigerant. In addition the heat strip backup was not connected to the thermostat. I am a retired site super for a home builder and I know things don't always go right the first time but this was a very poorly done install. I have been trying to get Jeff to come back to my home to address the quality of the install but it has been two months and he still hasn't shown up. The outside heat pump unit is not properly anchored and is out of level. The return air duct work is not properly supported at the air handler. The thermostat was installed out of level and insulation was left pulled back at the air handler. Some of these things I can fix myself but I feel a bit of a fool for paying a thousand dollars extra for a poorly done job. Oh yeah I also had to seal the whistling air filter housing and to add insult to injury when I opened the filter housing the filter with the big arrow on it was installled backwards. I called and talked to Jeff on a Saturday, and he came out for a consultation and to take measurements on Sunday. From Everett to Des Moines. On Seahawks Sunday. that's reason enough to love this company. We were scheduled for a new furnace on Tuesday. Jeff and company showed up right on time. They removed the old furnace, and installed the new one complete with duct reworking and fitment all under 3 hours. They did an awesome job: Clean, quick and thorough. My furnace was making a strange smell. It hadn't been serviced or maintained in a couple years. I found a Groupon and called the company. I left a message and had a phone call back within 25 minutes. Even better was that a technician was in my area with a window of time. I was able to get an appointment in an hour. Jeff showed up promptly and addressed all my concerns. I'm always afraid that I'm going to get the "You have to buy everything Fear Speech" like if I don't buy this, or fix this my house is going to blow up. But that wasn't the case with Jeff. He explained clearly the issues with my furnace, proper maintenance and filter replacement. I felt very confident when he left. My big dog also liked him which is a huge plus. Bought a Groupon and called twice to get a scheduled maintenance appt. finally did. Took the day off. The guy TEXTED at 7:12 PM the night before. Had an emergency medical issue and needed to reschedule. Ok things happen. Called again to reschedule..another 10 days out. Again, the NIGHT before, he TEXTS to cancel. No reason this time. We try one more time and get rescheduled. This time he comes out. Seems very knowledgeable and turns out we need a part. He will order it and come out next week to install. We wait. Never heard back. We call and leave a message. No call back. Try again and he TEXTS back that he doesn't know what we are talking about. So we remind him about the part. He says they- the parts place- hasn't contacted him. We tell him 3 strikes, you're out. He responds and says his kid had an emergency and he was busy, and wishes us good luck. Absolutely the worst. Would not go to them if my furnace busted and it was 20 degrees out...I'd get a hotel and call a company that does the work and respects my time. Avoid. Texting cancellation? RIP-OFF, STAY AWAY! I bought their $49 special for furnace inspection, service, maintenance and filter change through a Living Social deal, and they did NOT do what is promised in the description. Unfortunately I was not home, so my son-in-law was home during the so-called "service". The technician noted that one of the 3 burners was completely clogged, then measured the carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from the combustion chamber and said that the emissions were 238 ppm, which is more than 2x the legal limit for Washington. He also claimed that "the burner continued to burn after the furnace shut down." He stated that the furnace could not be repaired and was unsafe. He shut the furnace off, claiming that it was "illegal for him to turn the furnace back on". After this he tried to sell us a new furnace. He wrote on the paperwork that the furnace was a "safety hazard" he also claimed that he 'dusted' the furnace and it was clean. He did not replace the filter, per the ad, but worse yet, HE NEVER MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE CLOGGED BURNER, NOR DID HE EVEN CLEAN UP THE ASH RESIDUE AROUND THE CLOGGED BURNER. I called my home warranty company, who sent a service tech from Alpha Heating and Cooling. The tech looked at the comments on the paperwork from Pilchuck, and laughed, saying that they were trying to "scare you into buying a furnace from them." The tech from Alpha noted that the CO emissions were 238 PPM, a burner was clogged, which he said was the cause of the high CO emissions. He noted that there was a flame flame from the clogged burner after the furnace shut off. He also pointed out the residue on, and around the burner, and said that was causing the burner to appear to be burning after the furnace shut off. He asked me if I paid Pilchuck for cleaning and service, so I showed him the ad. He told me that they did not clean ANYTHING in the furnace. He then did a quick cleaning of the burner, and measured the CO emissions, which were now 75 (well withing both Federal and State limits)... After this he did the complete service, which Pilchuck was SUPPOSED to have done, and measured the CO emissions again. The level was 32 ppm, which the tech said was what it put out when it was new. The tech from Alpha told me that there was NOTHING wrong with my furnace, and that the burners would easily last another 20 years. He did point out that newer furnaces are more efficient, and would reduce my heating costs, but there was no immediate need to replace the furnace. Had the tech from Pilchuck properly serviced the furnace, and RECOMMENDED a new furnace to save on heating costs, I would have definitely considered buying it from them. Instead they took the lazy and deceitful way out by trying to scare me into buying a furnace from them. When I am ready to replace my furnace, Pilchuck will NOT get my business! read more

After issues with the initial gas furnace installer, Greenwood Heating, I found Pilchuck online and Jeff rescued me from near disaster. I couldn't be happier. As far as the complaints below, I know Pilchuck is small and like most businesses probably doesn't want to turn down clients. Most of us appreciate the "under promise, over deliver" approach to repairs, but it's not easy to find that in the HVAC scene. They were doing some work under the AHS house warranty and decided to make up their poorly negotiated contract on my end by marking up the freon gas 600% above market, I never receieved an estimate warning or granted approval for accomplishing the work had I known that they were going to charge 1000 for the gas after they got paid 1100 from AHS I would have never agreed. The owner said he would come and remove the gas and we would go our separate ways but instead of being a man of his word he just avoided and ignored my calls and texts and had the office assistant send an invoice through PayPal what a horrible way to treat anyone let alone your customers. They will do work then want way above market price for the repair. 2300 is what they were paid for a compressor replacement and recharge of the system and they did not even use the parts for the system just a universal lg compressor that wont last. These guys are SHADY! I called Pilchuck heating because our furnace makes a really loud sound when we turn it on. Jeff from Pilchuck heating came by. He told me the furnace was leaking inducer oil and the inducer would burn up and our furnace would stop working within a year if we did nothing. He could fix the problem for $700, or replace our furnace and AC for a mere $5,800 (and he highly recommended the replacement). I discovered our furnace is under warranty since we just recently purchased our house. When the home warranty furnace guy came out he said there was absolutely nothing wrong with our furnace! He even showed me the inducer motor and I could see there was no oil leaking. I'm so glad I didn't drop $700 to fix a problem that didn't even exist! If you're like me and know nothing about furnaces, don't trust this company. They seem to be counting on the fact that most people are clueless and they can use scare-tactics to cheat you out of your money. read more

Bought a Groupon for a furnace inspection. Called multiple​ times before they called me back, but they did get back to me on​ the same day. Once it was scheduled​, Jeff came out did the inspection. He said at first, it was only the blower and the motor and it could be done by next week. He will get back to me with the estimate via text. Once he gave the estimate, he went m.i.a over text for a couple days. So two week later, we have are a set date for the repair. The day of the repair I asked if he was coming during this​ timeframe, he responded, "Omg I forgot about you, my kid is sick can't make it". This is understandable, but the fact that he never responds to texts was a red flag already. We re-scheduled and the day before I text and called him to make sure he's showing up ​never responded. The day off I called didn't pick up. He responded over text that he will be there. Then he does the repair and everything seems good, then he warns us that we have a bad circuit board and should be replaced in the near future. For now, ​it should work. That would have​ been nice to know beforehand. We paid him and tipped him and he said if it goes wrong let me know there's 2 years warranty​​ on the blower and motor. ONE DAY later after he fixed it, the thermostat power doesn't work. We contacted him and he said it's probably the circuit board. We asked for the price to replace it and he gave it to us. Since it's been only a day since we fixed it, we also asked to get it to work again without changing the board until​ we can replace it. He didn't respond to our text. I do not recommend going to Philchuk Heating even with the Groupon. One month later and the furnace is still now fixed. Save yourself some money and time and pay some other company to take a look at your furnace. read more

I found Pilchuck Heating on Amazon Local. It was a great deal for service and inspection. Jeff was honest and told me that my very old furnace was in pristine working condition and did not try to sell me any unnecessary repairs or upgrades. A week later when I tried to use my heater, it was not working properly, so I called Jeff to have him come back out to look at it. After examining the furnace, he found that control panel had fried and the furnace needed to be replaced. He could have very easily blamed this on the age of the furnace, but was honest and stated that it was his fault. He is replacing the furnace at no charge to us. I work in the construction industry and it's very rare to find an honest technician. I will recommend this company to everyone! read more

Had to order a part, which took a bit to come in, but then he came right out and put it in. It was even under warranty. A month later we were having an issue with the heater not always kicking on, he came right out and lined up our burners and it's as good as new! No charge even! Thanks so much for the great service. I also purchased a coupon for a oil furnace maintenance. The furnace stopped working the day after Jeff completed the maintenance. After several phone calls, & no response, I contacted another oil company who found that Jeff did not secure a part, which resulted in damage to a fan. Jeff finally came back out to assess the damage & said he would locate the replacement part & repair it at no charge. He assured me he would contact me by a certain date. No call. After numerous unreturned calls, I called several other oil companies looking for the part. I found out that the part is obsolete & the only solution is replacing the entgire furnace. That explains why no return call from Jeff. Honest? Reputable? Are you kidding? He may provide great service if he's putting in a NEW furnace, but owning up to his mistakes & correcting it? I really really am disappointed by the service that i got from Pilchuck Heating. It's very hard to get them on the phone and schedule to begin with, it took me a couple of days to get the mon the phone. Which is ok i guess, I've seen worse. But i scheduled for service. The guy came to my house to do inspection and maintenance of my cooling and heating system. He seemed to be knowledgeable he gave us some suggestions, he opened the furnace and took out filters, opened up some of the parts and he told us to let the AC run for a couple of days; also asked us to call and schedule for the following week so he can do some inspection and put the unit back together. That was months ago now, i tried calling and calling, also texting the guy(for which he replies back, call and schedule)...nothing. We finally ended up hiring a different company get the stuff done. Very bad customer service to begin with, and i don't have any doubt about the ability of the technician but as a company, they should be responsible to the stuff that they work with on a customer site. you can't break stuff and just disappear. read more
