I had on a long maxi dress, so I came out in my bra and underwear. I could tell it wasn't ideal and she was not pleased, but that was the best I could do. The session took place on the floor. It involved stretching. I suffer from calcification in my shoulders, and one shoulder was particularly painful, so that made things awkward too. I was advised to take care of my weight and health. My attire definitely made it more difficult to do some of the stretches. She tried to cover my private area in order to do the stretches, but that wasn't enough. Overall, it felt awkward. The studio is very nicely done with water and they were kind enough to give me a complimentary mat for my first class. Felipe's class is exactly what I want from yoga. It's a lot of stretching and spending time in the poses. His aura is very calming. He also does a lot of hands on adjustments and I felt stretches that I never felt before. We also had a sound bath at the end of class that I really enjoyed. That in itself is of high value at other studios. I've paid $45 just for a sound bath and it was included here in the class. We went over which I was grateful for because it was a longer time relaxing and enjoying. I would 10/10 recommend Felipe if you have the chance to take it

Then one day they started using a very odorous chemical cleaner. I could smell the fumes when class started, but practiced anyway and tried to ignore it. I got very sick for the next 24 hours, and so did my friend. I brought this to the attention of the studio owner who said that the cleaner did not have a smell. It appeared that someone had put the wrong cleaner into the mop, and was using a toxic bathroom cleaner in the hot room instead of the blue cleaner they had used before with no fumes. I was promised it wouldn't happen again. Sadly, it happened several more times. I ended up leaving because I didn't want to compromise my health. When I asked the beautiful teacher, Maria Elena, for help, she became very Insulting and told me to just relax more. She further told me I would experience problems at any shala, because they all use the same cleaner. This is not the way a yoga teacher should talk to anymore, much less someone concerned about breathing toxic fumes and harming themselves. I just wanted to experience her beautiful class in a safe environment. Sadly, I don't go here anymore. I really miss the classes as they were so good for me, but not at the expense of my lungs or with such a lack of compassion for the students legitimate health concerns. UPDATE: I was sort of done with this but I just received a very aggressive call from the owner, Raquel, in regards to my identical Google review. Rather than apologizing and rectifying the situation she was aggressive and in denial, refusing to acknowledge or solve a super simple issue of using the correct non toxic floor cleaner they had for years. If you go on google you will see reviews of other people getting sick. Stay away if you care about your health. So sad this goes against the entire premise of yoga in how they treat their customers! Shame on them!

This was my first experience ever with sound healing and I am never looking back, what a great addition to a modern (stressful) lifestyle. My only wish is for the studio to offer restorative classes for those days when you do not wanna jump through vinyasas :)

We started chanting mantras, I loved that they provided a sheet of paper with written mantras and explanation to follow along. Sandrine also took some time to explain the mantra and played the harmonium while she sang along. She was great at explaining the moves and providing modifications throughout the class. She was also gentle adjusting moves when needed. The studio has great vibes and nice lighting, there is a corner with prompts and space for shoes and bags. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is because the floor was a little dirty. I took the 10am class which I believe is the first class of the day, and it didn't look like they took the time to sweep. Not sure if this was a one time thing so I hope they do clean in between classes. The class was great so I will be going back to try more of their classes when I'm in the area.

Things to note- there's one bathroom and one shower and they are in the same room. Rental of a mat and a towel are available for $6. The staff at the front was very helpful and clear as it was my first time there. I chose a space in the back but I then realized I was next to the speaker so I probably will choose a space in the front. Also note since this is popular class and studio I would recommend you arrive early. I arrived about 40 mins before class and I have the option to choose wherever I wanted. As starting time got closer people rushed in to get a space in the front to take their videos and photos before class started.

I completely understand the importance of the safety video, but I believe guests should receive a brief explanation of why they're required to watch it. I LOVE Pilates on the Beach. It is very professional, well run, and efficient. The instructors are highly trained and knowledgeable. They offer a really good range of classes at convenient times and there are enough classes and instructors to keep things constantly varied and challenging, if that's what you're looking for. Pilates has truly changed my life for the better -- it has reduced chronic pain in my hip and back (for over 15 years) by around 75%, and it's still improving. Before Pilates, I had tried everything. THIS WORKS! I truly believe that everyone could benefit from Pilates to stay strong and injury-free or to recuperate from injuries. read more

Rachel Rodhame's Sunday classes leave you feeling the way Joseph Pilates wanted you to feel after a class..... "taller, stronger and lighter." Her choreography is strenuous, but intelligently and always SAFELY executed. Her verbal cues are specific, vivid and enlightening to even seasoned students. She keeps the work pure, so without knowing it, you're correcting your own muscle imbalances (preventing injuries) and feeling amazing. I'm sure Joseph would be proud of this instructor. Love this studio! I recently enrolled in Mat classes, Cardio Ballet Fusion and Semi-Private Pilates classes and I'm so far enjoying it. What I like more about Pilates on the Beach is that they offer day and evening classes. I also brought a a friend once in a group class and she enjoyed it and said that she's also enrolling soon! The instructors pay attention to what your body needs and they will really train you well. Definitely worth spending for! read more
