I'm a Pilates-a-holic. Let's just get that out of the way. I love working on the various machines with and without props and I appreciate the challenge of good matwork. I know the work well so my expectations are not low. Having been to to Pilates place twice now, I can comfortably issue the full five stars. The studio and equipment are just beautiful. There is so much natural light coming into the second floor window and it's very clean. Plenty of parking although I live close enough to walk! Score. The climate here is very warm and welcoming. Also, they have towels and a water cooler. I think this is a nice touch. The little considerations really make you feel taken care of. Saved the best for last - the teachers are fantastic! Today I worked with JJ and I had another great instructor before. They are knowledgeable and accommodating. I was lucky enough to be alone for my group class this morning and JJ took the class exactly where I wanted it to go! What a treat. I highly recommend this Pilates studio for all - new or veterans!! read more

The Pilates Place - Cadillac Walkover - Pilates Near Me - Miami, Florida

I've been practicing Pilates at this location since its inception so if there's anyone who know this place...it's this chick! I've been to numerous studios in the past and never really gelled with the studio's vibe and instructors but that all changed once I discovered the tiny gem that is The Pilates Place next to Soyka in the MiMo district. Aside from the studio's cozy, vintage-y vibe, the instructors I've taken countless classes with -- Jackie, Louis, Jacqueline and Robin -- all are bar none, the kindest yet tough-as-nails instructors I've met. Each has their own strengths when it comes to teaching (like, Jackie knows how to work the whole body with aplomb, Robin is amazing when it comes to arms and abs, Louis exhaust me! and Jacqueline always works those glutes on me). I was, however, extremely hurt by a recent review here on Yelp that made inaccurate and plain old mean jabs at myself and the instructor. Said student said some really hurtful things and portrayed the studio in a negative light. To her I say, I am a mother, and forgive me for bringing my son into class on one occasion (who was extremely well behaved and never once interrupted the flow of the class, mind you). As a woman, I'd like to think that other women would be empathetic toward a mother who's sitter didn't show up. As for conversing during class, it's par for the course. I've never taken a group class anywhere where no one interacts with one another. If a little banter bothers you so much, I recommend taking private lessons. Lastly, to question whether or not the instructor has any formal training is outlandish, rude and speaks volumes of your insolent personality. And while I don't want the crux of this review to focus on said Yelper's negative review (because I LOVE this place), I find it's necessary to right her wrong -- because she's clearly an extremely cynical individual. You know, it really irks me when people are mean. It just does. Now that that's off my chest, now on to the GREAT again. The equipment here is top-of-the-line and new -- unlike many competitors. The space is clean and the beats are always groovy (New Order, anyone?) And through our work on the reformer, chair and tower, we're strengthening my core (my main problem area), improving my posture and developing long muscles like a ballerina. In fact, I've gone down an entire dress size thanks to this particular studio. A tremendous feat! So if you're highly  allergic to the gym like moi, give The Pilates Place a whirl. I had very hard back and leg injury a while back, have done P.T. All my life and when I found this place really close to my house I tried it out and has made all the difference in the world, my posture, my flexibility, and I walk without leg braces and without crutches. It is part of my lifestyle and I wouldn't change it for any other type of exercise or gym. I love Pilates and I've Also tried many other studios but this one by far is the cleanest, most amazing instructors, sweet and caring. Just genuine good positive in my life through my recovery! Very thankful and recommend for anyone with any type of injury or for overall health and fitness. read more

Took a jump board class today with Adriana, she was great. She was very attentive and made sure no one had any injuries before we started. She also made sure to change the workout for certain people in the class who may need an easier or more difficult version. It was a great cardio workout, more so than a normal Pilates class! There is parking outside but when I got there there was only one spot left. There is parking down the street across from Soyka if you can't find parking right outside. Also, the directions don't really tell you where to go once you get to the building. The studio is up the spiral staircase- it's the only spiral staircase outside the building so you can't miss it. I really feel bad giving this studio two stars but I gave it more than a fair shot so here is my opinion. First, I love the interior and the way the studio is set up. It is clean and organized and there is plenty of room in between the reformers. The equipment is well maintained and of a good quality. They use mindbody's website to purchase classes and reserve. There is ample parking. I thought Louis was outstanding and have taken 2 classes with him. Robin is also good. Here is what I don't like: They have no policy when it comes to people being late to class. 3 times now late-comers have come in well into the workout (around 20-30 minutes late) and it has been disruptive in getting them established in the class. One client was not only 30 minutes late one time but showed up with her toddler who sat at the foot of her reformer the remainder of the class and needed constant coddling for her mother. Very distracting. The instructor said nothing about it. Other than Louis and Robin, I question whether or not the instructors have had any formal training. They are all very nice however, seemingly clueless. I have felt on most classes, particularly today, that it is more of a social hour than a workout. There was plenty of talk about Breaking Bad and where to go for dinner but no mention of any of the basic principals of pilates. The instructor (who was very nice) didn't ask anyone if they had any injuries, didn't once mention correct spinal or cervical placement (neutral vs imprint of the spine). There was no mention of the proper way to breath. I am pretty sure she didn't know the correct names of the movements we were executing. Not only is this frustrating because it turns a lot of people off to pilates in general, but someone could seriously injure themselves in one of these classes. Lastly, I have shown up to 2 classes where I was apparently the only one to enroll and the instructor was stuck in traffic both times. The owner was very nice about it and attempted to make it right by adding an extra class to my account but unfortunately, the bad far outweighs the good in this studio. read more

Not one to rate on yelp easily I cannot say enough good things about the pilates place. I have been working out 1 on 1 with jackie for the past couple of months and she is great. As someone who has visited many studios through the years the pilates place is clean, and great for someone who doesn't have the time (really hates) going to the gym on the regular. Jackie is always sure to check how my body is doing and tailor the work out to how my body is responding that day. I have been going to their new location in midtown Miami, near soyka. Parking for the morning classes is simple, right on site and free. The instructors are great and knowledgeable, they are interested in adjusting the regime based upon your needs. They have 4 reformers in a nice studio. read more

I just took a private with Louis and loved it. I am pregnant and was looking for something challenging but not where I thought I was going to pass out. i've tried reformer before but really loved how this was a good balance of stretching, alignment and strength. The studio is beautiful and very centrally located right next to Soyka with parking. Their pricing is comparable to other studios in the area and on the beach. I like that their classes are small because you'll get plenty of personal attention. Highly recommend and can't wait to make this is a regular part of my schedule. read more

I have been with The Pilates Place for 4 years now. I had a very terrifying situation with my lower back, I could not walk for more then 6 months, it will be a long explanation, anyways I started surching for a Pilates Studio that would care for my injury, I call many places and I visit them too. So finally I got Jackie on the phone, she was very sweet and pay attention for what I was looking for in a Pilates workout. We spoke for a month, finally I got an appointment and I show her all my tests and MRI 's . She asked me to study them, and we book a classe 2 days later., and I never left, I walk today , I do Jump Pilates and I continue with my private classes. I cannot express enought gratitude to this place, of course Jackie and Louis. They are amazing teachers, very dedicated to their clientes. I can't thank Jackie enought for all of her patience with me, and the encouragement she gave me. They are very accommodating place, they understand your needs, your daily schedule and etc....
