I call Breathe Pilates Studio my 'life support system'. Gretchen's classes and instruction have helped me refine my Pilates practice. I am stronger and more confident not only in the studio but in my day to day life. That's the real gem of Pilates. It doesn't just make you stronger and more flexible but more importantly it has a positive impact on all aspects of life. Claudiane's classes are fun and challenging. She has a background in physical therapy and has helped me tailor my practice to accommodate old injuries. I'm not trying to be hyperbolic but I would literally give Breathe 10 stars if that was a possibility and here is why: -First of all the instructors. Everyone at Breathe has YEARS of Pilates experience and mastery in the craft. I've been to about 20 classes in this studio and every one of them was choreographed with a lot of intention and tailored to the people who were taking the class. Also the 3 instructors that I've taken have really different teaching styles so you can take their classes depending on what you're in the mood for. -The equipment: They have everything from the most classical (cadillacs, chairs, reformers.) to some more modern (a wall unit that I had never seen before, foam rollers, weighted balls.) Pilates equipment and all of it is in great condition. I don't really know how long ago the studio opened but the equipment is in pristine condition so it's either very new or very well maintained. Judging by the studio I would say probably well maintained which leads me to the next point. -The cleanliness: The studio is IMPECCABLE. So clean, so organized and the bathrooms are always well stocked with lavender soap, hand sanitizer and ponytails (as a girl this is such a bonus.) -The Vibe: The studio truly feels like a zen oasis with their tiled floors and the plants hanging from the ceiling. I don't know if this was by mistake or design but the reformers are made of light wood, which combined with the tiled flooring and the cactus, make it feel so peaceful. Also, they're always diffusing some sort of lavender citrus spray which is truly intoxicating (good thing I'm not trying to be hyperbolic.) -The attention to detail: I have really bad neck pain ALWAYS. Like It's either terrible or "not so bad" and the instructors are always looking for ways to modify me in ways where I can feel comfortable without compromising the workout. Also the class is generally limited to four people so you get the opportunity to really work with the instructors and get a lot of assistance depending on your needs. I come from New York where studios sometimes have up to 20 reformers so the fact that this studio is small is really an added bonus for me. Anyways this is a really long review so if you read anything let it be this: GO TO BREATHE! Your body will be so grateful. read more

This studio is special. The instructors know their craft very well. I've been going for two months consistently and this Pilates studio has helped resolve my sesamoid bone pain in foot. I'm hooked. Extremely clean beautiful pilates studio. A little hard to find as it is located in a strip mall, but parking is easy and plentiful. Took jumpboard with Lindsey. She is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! Truly, this is the most amazing Pilates studio. Gretchen is so very talented and has a comprehensive understanding of the human body. She is especially gifted at working with people who have chronic pain, bad backs, weak joints etc. After two back surgeries I was very concerned about working out for fear that I would inflict greater damage on my spine. Yet, I wanted to achieve all of the benefits Pilates has to offer, such as a strong core and lean and long musculature. Gretchen tailored the workout to my body's needs and made sure she was strengthening my core and releasing tension in my back. I have NEVER felt better! This studio is a little treasure. I am new to Pilates and have enjoyed the small classes, personal attention and non injury. Gretchen, the owner teaches classes and sets a high standard for her teachers. She even "teaches the teachers". I have taken Alina's class and she too watches my every move. The equipment is new, and I like that it is always wiped down after every class. All shapes, ages and sizes welcome in non clique, egalitarian, well-thought out classes. I waited 3 months to review and I'm sold. Great parking and a wonderful wine store near too. Private lessons offered as well. A great upper Eastside business. Took my first Pilates class last week . I work next door so it's super convenient for me :) I mentioned I wanted to work on my lower body and I got exactly that , it felt amazing to stretch and Gretchen was very patient with me as I was a first timer . The next day I felt sore but in the best way. I plan on taking more classes and getting my clients to also go. The studio setting is super cute and relaxing , clean and I love the floors.
