I just dropped in for one class. The facilities itself is pretty good. There are lot of bags and there is a section for strength training with kettlebells etc. They offer rental gloves and also towels which are good in you are dropping in like me. They have a neat shower and lockers to use. About the boxing class, Romeo is an excellent coach. He emphasizes technical aspects as well as utilities his boxing experience to teach. Whenever I'm in town visiting, I make time to train at this amazing boxing gym. They welcome drop-ins and all levels are welcome and made to feel comfortable. I started visiting here at entry level. They have everything you need to train on your own or with classes. I love this place. The energy here is very positive and the results for me every time have been regenerative. SO CLEAN!!! I cant get over that and I cant say it enough, very very clean. Wow. Awesome staff, this people here have all it takes to maintain a great successful business. The owner is as charismatic as it gets; she was born to do that...and box, what a body. I had to ask her age lol, impressive. Nice place to workout in South Beach. When I visit SoBe I try to get a few days in @ SB Boxing.

Apparently there is more to boxing than just throwing punches. There's also cardio and a bit of ballet thrown in...but it's a damn intense workout! South Beach Boxing was the location of Yelp Fit Club's closing event and my current stop on the way to fitness. After doing 5k's and generally being able to eat anything in my 20's without gaining an announce, that physique slacked as I hit the big 4-0. I wanted it back, so I signed up right after attending the free introductory class. In addition to the punching bags, there's also a ring to put up your dukes as well as free weights, cardio equipment and a challenge workout. My workouts thus far have been the group class in which the trainers put you through. These start off with sprints, jump rope (don't laugh), squats, and pushups. Punching bag - and sparring with the trainer - come next and finish up with abs work. It takes me a solid day or two of recovery, but the rush of energy afterwards is awesome. Jolie the owner and Romeo the trainer are super energetic and cool people, always ready to throw in a word of motivation. So is the crowd at the gym, willing to help me out with abs work. I've been wanting to join a boxing gym for a long time. I was torn between two gyms and ultimately based my decision on the reviews for each on Yelp. As always, my fellow yelpers led me to the right place. I'm in love with my new gym. I've never actually enjoyed going to the gym until now. I've never boxed before, so I was skeptical at first. Luckily, the trainers are familiar with their gym members so when they notice a new face, they come introduce themselves and keep an eye on you throughout the classes constantly giving you tips and teaching you correct technique to avoid injuries. The offer boxing, kick boxing, techniques of boxing, and RITE(Routine is the Enemy) cross fit classes among others. The staff is always extremely friendly, and you can tell they love what they do. A lot of them have fought professionally, so you're getting trained by some of the best. Each trainer has their own style and approach to the sport, and that's why I love this gym. I have yet to see the same workout twice and in just a couple of weeks, I've noticed changes in my body and my overall mood. Something about punching the heck out of those bags is quite the stress reliever. The locker room has always been clean. It's a little locker room, but I've only ever seen someone other than myself in there once. There is only one shower and one bathroom in the women's locker room, but again, it has never been an issue. In addition to their decent membership prices, they sell all the equipment you might need. Gloves, wraps, jump ropes, etc. The best part about this gym is that everyone is really just there to work out. I've never felt uncomfortable in there as I have at other gyms. The classes are set up for everyone to work at their own level while still getting an amazing workout. There isn't anything that will be thrown your way that is impossible to do.... (well except maybe push ups... I couldn't do push ups if my life depended on it... but I get points for trying haha) The only negative for me is the parking situation. Street parking is $1.75 an hour, or the garage half a block away is $1 an hour. Nothing terrible, but it puts a dent in your pocket when you go everyday. The garage does offer monthly passes, but I have yet to check those out (I'll get back to you on this). Joining South Florida Boxing has been one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be strutting my stuff in a tiny bikini on South Beach next summer, and if someone tries to mess with me, I'll be equipped to uppercut them into oblivion! read more

Helped me improve on my marathon time. I first joined SFB and told Jolie that I was no longer looking for a gym that would get me huge and buff. Being that I run a lot I've come to the reality that I should train for performance. Well, that's what this gym did for me. I trained in all classes for 5 months before my race and shaved off 1 hour and 3 minutes off my previous personal best time. Which is AWESOME! What helped me the most was definitely the combination of their RITE (crossfit) and the boxing classes. Their RITE classes are intense and top notch. Will has been a great instructor and really informative. I definitely prefer to go to these classes than any other. When I can't make it to the Rite classes I usually go to their boxing classes. The instructors for the boxing classes range from intense to informative to fun or a combination of all 3. Whichever instructor you get you end up leaving sweaty and tired. Overall, I highly recommend SFB if you're looking for a gym to help you perform athletically for a very reasonable price. Plus their staff is the nicest I've seen in the gym industry. read more

I came to SBB looking for a place to take out aggression and build community after moving to South Beach and suffering some pretty debilitating traumas. Jolie and the entire SBB team took me in and I was immediately part of the family. Training at SBB is built so that you can participate and be challenged no matter what level you are at, but yet you still learn legitimate boxing skills and techniques. You also get a serious workout in. While the training is amazing, the benefit from being a part of the community and having a support system was really what helped me go from having constant anxiety and self isolating, to being able to get out and enjoy life again. Ahh, overall its a decent gym but i would not recommend it to anyone. They make you sign a contact with them for like a year and the gym membership is WAY to overpriced. They make it extremely difficult to get out of the contract and even if you do find a way you have to pay a fee of like 200 dollars. How do i know this? I'm a member and i actually regret signing up. Too overpriced. Too crowded. Too hot. You're better off taking classes at LA FItness. At least there they dont hassle you if you want quit they're gym. read more

Don't let its unpretentious attitude fool you. The variety of classes ( i.e. boxing, Muay Thai, kick-boxing, cross-training, etc.) gives you a good workout mix throughout the week. However, the teachers are what takes this place to the next level. The place is very unique because it has an element of education and commitment to improvement that goes beyond what you would get from a fitness class at a normal gym. Bottomline: This is a no non-sense, kick ass or go home type of joint. If intense workouts are your thing, I highly recommended. Where they can improve: Their earliest class starts at 9 AM and they close at 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday. To all my 9 to 5'ers that like to get your workout before work, I recommend you start a petition for a 7am class. It's worth the fight. Bonus: The owner, Jolie Glassman, runs an anti-bullying and self-defense program for teenagers. I think that's pretty awesome. We need more programs like these in our community. read more

On Vacation and wanted to try something new for a workout. Showed up 20minutes early to get signed up ( easy to do). The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.... no previous boxing experience- no problem!! They walk you through and help explain the movements. We had Romeo for the instructor. He is great at challenging each individual while instructing the "how to". It is a bit expensive for a non- resident, but totally worth it. Just wish I would of discovered it sooner in my stay. ... You commit to 4-5 classes per week & your body will be at it's all time best in less than three months. Under new management gym has been reorganized, painted, and scrubbed clean. Front desk is always friendly & top notch trainers Djinji Brown, Doug, Lucky, & Ralph always bring 110% to every class. I love this place! I joined a couple weeks ago and it's been the best gym I've ever joined. No judgment, no BS, just boxing! I don't have to worry what other people think, as long as I'm hitting that bag hard! Boxing and Kickboxing have become an addiction for me. And it's really easy here because the teachers are so great and supportive. I love the classes -- I look forward to them. It feels like a really supportive community here and I love it. Nothing fancy -- just getting in shape and getting strong! The prices are really really reasonable for a fight gym and among the cheapest on the beach (because gyms are RIDICULOUSLY expensive there). My only laments are 1) the gym doesn't open in the early morning every day. If it were up to me I would work out in the mornings and occasional evenings, but the gym is open before 9 only on Monday, Wed and Friday - no Tue/Thurs :o( 2) There is only one shower in the bathroom, but I can't say that's ever been a HUGE problem, only an occasional inconvenience. 3) The biggest thing is its TOO HOT in the gym. I know this is an issue a lot of people have so hopefully they cool the gym down a bit because sometimes it gets pretty bad. They are good about turning the temp down when you ask, but you have to ask just about every day. All in all though, I've had nothing but great experiences. Jolie, the owner, is really cool and receptive to feedback. If you have any reservations at all or aren't sure, you can take a free class. TRUST me, it's worth it! read more

The trainers, the staff, and all the members are genuinely cool people. No pretentious vibes whatsoever. I've never really stuck with a workout regiment until I came here. I was searching for something different and I found it here. Every workout is different. I never get bored. Over the last 6 months I have seen significant changes in my body, all positive! This gym is amazing! I was looking for a place to train while I was away from home, and I stumbled upon South Florida Boxing. I was warmly greeted after I walked up the impressive stairs that lead to an equally impressive gym. I was nervous about training some place new, but every trainer I worked with was awesome! Each trainer offers a unique workout, and I can safely say that I haven't worked that hard since my days of dancing for 8 hours a day in the ballet. Everything was great from the friendly front desk, Simone, who helped me pick out the proper gloves and wraps.. to the amazing class with Ervin and some great bootcamp drills along with some technical boxing skills. I even met the other instructor Romeo, he helped me with my stance and gave me a few tips. I was hoping to do his class today but I am a lot more sore than I ever anticipated!!! Great workout. SOTP DELETING MY POST......South Florida Boxing is a great workout place, you will sweat and it's hard . The trainers are great and the place is clean. However, the reason for my 1 star is their business is RIP OFF . I got the offer from yelp for $99 for a month, then after a week they called me and say hey if you like it you can sign up for a year.. Then I did sign up and I paid another $106 with the Tax ... She told me if I cancel it they would charge me the whole amount of money which is $200 instead $99 plus tax .... Listen to this I did not finish even the first month and I have to move out from Miami, she called me and she said I have to pay $225 cancelation fee ...I told her I have paid already more than 200 I did not finish even 30 day ... Then she said if you don't pay it I will send it to collection agency and they will charge you %40 extra ... At the end she made me pay$240 ... I swear not even a complete 30 days .So for ONLY ONE MONTH I PAID $106+$106+$240 = RIP OFF business... Just be careful don't do the same mistake . read more
