I was expecting to be frowned upon by others at the gym like we most often are when a group of people show up together all in wheelchairs. However, that wasn't the case here. I was greeted by Brian and Dino and instantly felt comfortable. They assured me that they would work with me at my own pace and I could break at any time I needed to. I was immediately wrapped and ready to start my warm up. Following stretching Dino surprised me with my very own set of gloves and we jumped right into the punching bags. Music was amazing with a live DJ and vibes were on point. I honestly didn't even mind that there was no air conditioning. Lol. I had an amazing time and can't wait to go back!!!

The Box is located at the Shoppes at Midtown near Angelina's and SugarCane. Atmosphere: This studio is brand new and outfitted with lockers, changing rooms, immaculate bathrooms and a cool indoor boxing ring. There is also a juice bar, The Juice Box, that sells drinks and smoothies for a post workout treat. The actual boxing studio is a separate dark room with black lights, high ceilings, mirrored walls, and 3 rows of punching bags. Everyone gets their own bag and each bag has a sensor that tracks how many punches you get in and your power. You can see you stats at the end of class to gauge performance. Workout: I've tried class with 3 of the instructors (Angie, Mike, Alvin) and they've all been awesome. Music is blasting, and the instructors explain the punches/combos and walk around offering help where needed. Class is 45 minutes divided in into a couple segments: warmup, shadow boxing, actual boxing on the bag, 5 minute abs and a cool down. There is a clock on the wall that times the different sections, and the class FLIES by! The Box offers classes almost every hour on the hour so it's pretty convenient to find a time to come in. Other: Parking can be difficult. Give yourself 10 minutes to find a spot. Wraps are $6 for purchase and can be reused. Gloves are $3 for rental per class.

Give yourself some extra time so you don't miss a single minute of this killer workout. I brought my own wraps and gloves, and would recommend that everyone hits up the "going out of business" sale at Sports Authority to do the same. It's the most economical option if you plan on doing a lot of boxing over time....but I digress. Behind a very clean entrance area and small boxing ring are a wall of lockers. There's a few very clean and modern bathrooms with showers also available, and in general the entire place was immaculate. The class takes place in dark room with rows of bags tied to the ground. There's a few things I love about this setup: 1) you can hardly see yourself which means that nobody else can really see you...aka, no fear of being judged and 2) each bag is equipped with a sensor to keep track of your performance based on the number of punches you land. Being a VERY competitive person, this fueled my fire and motivated me to work even harder in class. I also really liked our teacher, Gab. She made the class super hard but wasn't intimidating or too tough on us. It was just the right amount of encouragement and technical support, and I really enjoyed her class. Overall, this studio, the amenities and teachers give this place an A+. Can't wait to go back!

You can also learn Boxing as well from JC. It is probably the only non-Crossfit gym to allow Olympic Weightlifting in Miami Beach which is one of the reasons I have been a member for so long. Even tho my bank reflected the same as the app. After her trying to scream over me she offers the next month free as a "courtesy " hahah guess what? Next time at the gym she went up to me by NAME and asked me to update my card. Next thing I know I got charged for the "complementary" month. Which is insane considering there's dog piss and moldy water fountains in the gym. Also the owner has this hilarious attitude, and is super combative and walks like he has a stick up his ass when he see paying guest outside of the gym where they pay $117 for broken water fountains with mold in them

The 4 of us who went together all regularly do Barry's and while it was a perfectly fine class, none of us felt like it was at all memorable. The instructor was alright but said some strange/awkward things on the mic and her music was not for us. It was all deep EDM without lyrics and I wanted something more motivating to push me through. Her cueing was OK but I saw a lot of bad form and there were no corrections on her end. Overall, I'd come back and check out a different instructor. My friend had warned me that she had read some ClassPass reviews that this instructor wasn't the best (and she goes to this location regularly). She told me she took Rick the next week and he was exceptional so definitely down to give it another shot.

I omitted the protein powder. it tasted good and was very filling. I can't say enough good things about this experience! i can't wait to return on class pass.
