Now there is no coincidence as to why Knockout Zone has a 5 star rating for every review. This place is the REAL DEAL! It was for a while that I heard about Knockout Zone prior to joining. I was a bit intimidated at first but when you first visit this gym you see how close knit everyone is. It is like one big family. For me that is important. My first day I went with a guest pass referred to the owner by a fellow friend. Diego was very welcoming and super cool. What impressed me even more aside from his good energy was that he lead me to the Muay Thai class and introduced me to the instructor and those participating as well. I felt welcomed. In addition to that he even gave me my hand wraps for free! From there I knew I had to sign up in which I did. Knockout Zone's membership are reasonably priced offering all sorts of classes to participate in from Crossfit to Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do. Even if you do not want to do a class they also have a full service gym downstairs. They are also month by month with no contract which for me is very convenient! For years I've been signed up with a gym from "commercially driven" gyms like LA Fitness to boutique style gyms like Anatomy at 1220. Knockout Zone was MY type of gym. I'm happy to have joined. About time!

I love KoZone Miami , the best trainers and energy obky there !

Lately, CKO has been my go-to workout session for several reasons: 1) It's a full body workout in one hour. 2) Each workout is different. 3) All of the instructors are warm and friendly. 4) I take some pleasure in seeing my workout partner Marilu F get her butt handed to her before I start to feel bad for her. And then, she makes it through Dominic's class, nonetheless, and then I'm proud of her. Marilu is the one that got me started at CKO this year when she mentioned there was a deal going on for 3 classes and a pair of boxing gloves for just $29. Enough said. I signed up right away. CKO also had an option to try the first class for free. Soon enough, I attended my first class with our instructor Dominic. Just a few minutes before class, Dominic gave me an orientation. He showed me the correct stance being a righty. Then, he demonstrated a jab, cross, hook, uppercut, and several kicks with correct form. It's important to know since we have to execute a combination of these during class. In our experience, Dominic's class has been the most intense and challenging one at CKO Brickell. We get tortured right from the start before we even start hitting the bags. The leg workout, itself, is killer every time among other things. After that, we execute all of the punching/kicking combinations that he throws at us.. each one getting more complex as he adds on. Also, throw in a core workout in the middle of all this and you get the idea. Marilu and I know the suffering all too well. And, somehow, we keep coming back for more. I've also attended a class from instructors Isabella and Rodney. Both of them are gems and I love seeing them here. Also, this CKO location offers gatorade for $2 each along with some other beverages.

I've tried other gyms/classes such as barre but I didn't enjoy it. I needed something with more movement. The staff is really helpful and nice. Don't be scared to try this gym out. Most importantly, I love that it's an all women's gym. I also really like that they offer classes at night since I get out of work at 6pm. They give you the option of buying their heart rate monitor to keep track of your heart rate during your workouts but I keep track of it with my Fitbit. Give it a shot!

I've been going to this gym for several years now. I get a good workout most of the time, but…read moresometimes the routines can be a little disappointing. Their class times are less convenient than they used to be. They have one class starting at 6:45 and the next one isn't until 8:30. The latter being too early for me, but 8:30 ends pretty late in the morning (and is after free parking ends on the street). There's definitely some instructors I like more than others. I stopped going regularly over a year ago, when my shoulder was bothering me and I found that some classes I would have to modify a whole zone and it was a struggle to get the instructors to suggest other exercises. Because they continue to play their music very loudly, I've taken to wearing earplugs to protect my ears, but then it's hard for me to hear the instructors. Doing a lot of the exercises on the floor hurts my tailbone and forearms (I wish they had yoga mats) and I miss the rowers (and towels!) they used to have. At least one of their bikes is slightly broken and their ellipticals have been broken at times too. They use monitors to show you what routine to do, but I would say 80% of the time something is cut off like the # of reps. Meanwhile other TVS will have nothing on them. I wish they would invest more effort in making it easy to see what exercises you are doing, especially when they have TVs they aren't using. Almost no one seems to use their heart rate monitors anymore. I stopped bringing mine ages ago, because 50% of the time it wouldn't connect to the screen and I rather use my watch, and who wants to be the one or two people up on the screen? What I find most frustrating and what prompted me to update my rating, is they constantly text me with offers that they will not honor. If they say they are for new members, I've just ignored them, even though it would be great if they didn't text me offers that aren't for me at all. Recently they texted me offering a free week to try their new workout version, with no mention of it being for new members only. Throughout the years, I've noticed changes such as added or removed equipment, but never noticed something drastically new, so I wasn't sure if it had been rolled out already or not. As someone who already works out there occasionally, but hadn't been a member in over a year, I thought maybe they were encouraging me to try to come more frequently like I used to, so I asked if there were any catches and they said no, and I accepted the offering, cancelling another class for next week to go to this one instead. The next day they told me they were revoking the free week. When I expressed my frustration that were not honoring the offer, they called me and aggressively made up a bunch of excuses such as that I texted back too late at night for them to know if I qualified (they texted me after closing time themselves and I responded that same hour) and that their system cannot tell if I come on classpass or not, but not taking ownership of that. Ugh. While I'll continue to partake in their workouts while they are on classpass because as I said I mostly get a good workout, this shady communication was another reminder of why I didn't want to be a full time member. There's been times I was charged a no show fee for a class I didn't sign up for (and therefore didn't attend). When I was a member, I was constantly stressed about if I would be able to use all my classes and I stopped looking forward to my workouts. When I did try to cancel or pause my membership, I always felt harassed about it, having to provide a reason, which is annoying. It has to be done 15 days in advance, which if you are new member, it's especially hard to know after two weeks if you want to keep going or not and I've even had them cancel my membership effective immediately even though I had classes left over! Other times they've been more accommodating, and extended my membership when their was a death in the family and I didn't get to use most of my classes. I wish they were more consistent and reliable with their practices and workouts. So while I recommend trying this gym, I do not recommend becoming a member.

The level of training is far superior than the rest of MMA gyms. Jessie, who's usually the manager attending the front desk is very friendly and very efficient at answering all questions regarding tuition and even scheduling introductory lessons or any assessment for beginners in the art. My first time visiting was quite special to me because I was actually greeted by Master Jonatas Gurgel, also known as "Tagarela" is one of the top Jiu Jitsu fighters in the world (see http://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighters/jonatas-gurgel-tagarela) Even during a class, he was still kind enough to introduce himself which gave me one of the best possible first impressions. Tagarella, my bjj Professor renowned Jiu-Jitsu World Champion who submitted current best grappler on the planet Marcus Buchecha ( see the video http://youtu.be/Its9YtcpQUc ) They also have Muay Thai instructor who is not only a Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and active competitor, but also presently fights professionally at the top MMA promotions. This gives some of the classes offered a very unique balance of techniques. They also have an excellent program for children of all ages making it a perfect academy to introduce your children to the art of Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. Their spacious mats are of the best quality as well as huge fighting cage and boxing and work out area and you can tell that they're kept very clean which is a factor of the utmost importance when training any kind of Martial Art. Every staff member and even the students seem to be very welcoming to practitioners from other academies and of all levels, truly giving the American Top Team of Aventura a very universal feel to it and more of a place to learn effective Jiu-Jitsu techniques rather than just a gym. This is the only gym that you should consider if you want to make a career out of mixed martial arts. They have all the martial arts classes you would need to learn to successfully compete under one roof. Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, Boxing, and my personal favorite Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If your like my wife and like cardio stuff, try their Cross Fit class with UFC fighters trainer Stefane Dias. It's the best way to stay fit and is more applicable to everyday life. If you practice Jiu-Jitsu and are in the North Miami area (even if it's only visiting), you need to stop by and train at the American Top Team. And in the case that you are just looking for a place to start training, then there's absolutely no better place to start your journey than here! Ps.
