Brand new location, with fantastic management and trainers. I highly recommended this gym to all serious gym-goers...especially those traveling into Dadeland area on extended stay. I ventured to this area for work and found this place via recommendation. There is a crossfit-type area upstairs and a traditional workout gym downstairs. You'll feel at home with the vibe of Thump. I didn't have the chance to take any classes there, but I did work with one of the trainers who added new elements to my routine. I purchased a living social deal on 5/17/14 for spinning classes. On 5/22/14 I went to use the deal and the spinning program had been cancelled with the final class (known to members) on 5/21/14. Do you think on 5/17/14 that the owner didn't know he was going to discontinue the spinning program? doubtful. Sounds like a prime instance of fraud, only contributing to the huge problem in south Florida. I left my information that Thursday 5/22/14 and on 5/27/14 had still not received a call back. I called back on 5/27/14 and they had no idea about the problem with living social deals? doubtful again. I wouldn't trust this company with a dollar, let alone your credit card information. oh, and they got 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. read more

Avoid this gym, my year contract recently expired and I am so glad it did. The 2 guys who work the front desk in the evenings are useless. Ask them any gym question and you will get a blank stare or the answer no. They are not helpful and never know what is going on and the guy with long hair is just plain rude. My biggest issue with this gym is the cleanliness or lack there of. Several times there were large dead roaches in the bathroom and worst of all the next day they would still be laying there not being picked up! No one re-racks or wipes down anything. Machines like the stair master and treadmill are caked up with years worth of dried sweat. Disgusting! I never once saw the floors mopped or sanitized. Dust balls and hair balls are everywhere. One push-up on the filthy floors and you are covered in dirt and god knows what else. Rusty weights and kettle bells that should have been thrown away years ago still linger on the floors. A trampoline with a huge tear in it still sits in the piles of junk and broken equipment (see photo) instead of being thrown away and replaced. Personal trainers come here to work our their own clients and think they have priority when it comes to machines and constantly pressure you to hurry up and move if your on a machine they want for their clients and they feel the need to give you unsolicited advice on your workout. The other issue here is the endless amount of groupons for both crossfit and the gym. As soon as one ends another one starts which means classes get full and actual members who pay full price get shafted. Crossfit head coach is beyond rude. Everyone and everything bothers him. We were told repeatedly in class that he doesn't care, there is the door and if you don't like him or his rules you can leave. Is that the attitude and way you should speak to clients when you are trying to develop and foster loyal clientele? If members were treated better there would not be a need for so many groupons. The only 2 things worth while here are the bootcamp classes and spinning and only because of the great instructors. These 2 things are not enough to stay at a gym and when you start to dread going to your gym it is time to leave. It's a shame b/c this place is in a good area and has potential but the owners really need to repaint, upgrade equipment, and hire friendly professional staff as well as a new cleaning crew. read more

What can I say about this place? This gym has become a second home to me. Steve, the gym owner, who is a golden glove boxer, Brazilian Jiujitsu Black belt, and a worship director at his church, is one of the warmest and most engaged individuals I have had the pleasure of learning from these last couple years. He's a great community leader, friend, and mentor. What I have enjoyed most about Thump Fight Gym has been the variety of options given to us to manage our health: there are self guided personal training workouts, there are the good ol' fashioned barbells and squat racks, there are boxing coaches to teach you the sweet science and Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes to teach you the gentle art. All these I have tried and are included in my membership. All have been incredible to me. Next, the gym itself after it's recent relocation and remodel has become slightly smaller, but it hasn't been enough to deter me from getting a great workout in. I hit a recent PR on my squats last week at 400 pounds for 2 reps! So I'm still making excellent gains here! The bathrooms are always kept clean, as are the showers and lockers. The staff is always very courteous and friendly and will engage you in conversation and are always humbly open to hear any feedback or suggestions from gym members. GROUPON SCAM!!! Don't waste your money like a did. The crossfit classes are a scam. (the gym staff wont work with you if you have a different schedule for the basics). I've trying to schedule the Groupon Crossfit classes for about two weeks. But they are over booked there is no space in that small gym for so many people plus YOU WILL WORKOUT IN THE HALLWAY OF THE SHOPPING CENTER!!!!! (outside the gym) and that is not safe. Another problem if you want to start with the crossfit classes you are only allowed to start two days a month meaning they only let new people start two groups per month at around 8pm (the gym staff wont work with you if you have a different schedule). It was close to my house so I decided to check out the place after work. I saw a few things I didn't like. First thing that caught my attention was how unwelcoming the instructors were. The first instructor (wearing glasses) that saw me walk in was on his cell phone. I stood near him to signal my presence and he seemed annoyed. He waved over another instructor to help me. As I walked over to the other instructor I greeted myself but was met by a blank stare like "what do you want" type of face. After I explained I'd like to check out the gym he offered to show me around; he then basically walked me into the crossfit area (which looked small and cramped with little walking space between crossfitters) and just said "this is the crossfit area" ; he then referred me to someone else at the front desk to show me the rest of the general gym. This is in contrast to other gyms that take their time to show the facilities, especially when one is asked to pay over $100/month. The other negative was how I noticed crossfitters had to do their runs around the strip mall that the gym is located in. They had to run through one of the entrances of the strip mall where there was some traffic. I noticed several instances of cars pulling out of parking spots and runners had to quickly dodge them. Add to that the potholes and uneven pavement and it looked like an unsafe environment to run. Although this gym was the closest to my house it didn't take me long to realize I wouldn't be happy here. read more

If I could give a 0 star review I would. I've been trying to cancel my gym membership with thump for a few weeKs now. Every time I call to cancel the billing department is very rude and will not allow me to cancel my membership. Even if I agree to pay a cancelation fee. They say that I signed an 11 month contract, which i did not. I signed a month to month but was never given and actual copy of my contract, so who knows. The old location of the gym was super old, dirty and disorganized. I was hoping that once their their new location opened that things would get better. I was wrong. The new location is terrible, the traffic is awful and parking is a nightmare. According to the lady at the billing department all the things I stated above are a service issue and not a reason for canceling a gym membership. It seems to me thump gym is giving people a hard time to cancel their memberships bc they seem to be losing clientele. read more

I made the decision to buy a Groupon for this gym because of their Crossfit. It's located in a good area and I figured I would try it out. Prior to purchasing the Groupon I made sure to read through the fine print and also visit the website just to familiarize myself with the gym. After reading up about the fundamentals course I decided to do the smart thing and call in to find out how the scheduling would work. I spoke with Jean-Paul (?) and he was very helpful with explaining everything to me. I decided to buy the Groupon. *FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO DECIDED TO BLINDLY BUY A GROUPON WITHOUT DOING YOUR RESEARCH WELL, THAT'S YOUR OWN FAULT.* My boyfriend and I did the fundamentals course Mon-Tues with Anthony. He did a great job of explaining the proper way to do weightlifting movements and made us comfortable. When I first heard about the 20 person cap I was a bit apprehensive but I understood it was for the good of our safety. After taking Wednesday off, we came back in on Thursday night and did the 8 PM class with Pedro. The class was amazing, I've done Crossfit before but this gym is completely different than the ones I've encountered in the past. They are more than eager to show you the movements correctly and motivate you while you do them. We were newbies but we did not feel like outsiders. Every time so far that we have come in we have been greeted like regulars and gotten the best workout of our lives. Seriously, I've never sweat so much. After the Groupon expires I will definitely continue working out at Thump. Great location with great trainers. I highly recommend! read more

Use care. The gym closed during a long transition. Opened in a sketchy,makeshift gym on the roof of a parking garage with garage style doors open into a basic free weight gym. The garage doors were open for humidity , heat and mosquitoes in .. no showers , treadmills,ellipticals or weight machines. Steve assured me he would apply a refund in November....spoke to Barbara the manager. She stated several times she would talk to Steve and get back to me. Apparently the new gym opened 2 dayS before my membership expired..... was completely bewildered they finally opened the new gym and didn't notify me by phone,text or email ..when I finally figured out they reopened I stopped by to find out what was going on and to address the refund Steve assured me in November would be put in place .. regardless of the many conversations with Barbara and Steve regarding this topic. I was assured Steve would be At the gym that Thursday at 0700 I got there at 0800. Barbara was there and claimed she told me there would be no refund and she told me she informed me of that already. Which she had not ..Clearly Steve wasn't there yet and Barbara told me I had to talk to him. There is no reception area(which I feel is essential) so I quietly and patiently waited sitting on the floor until Steve arrived. He flat out told me I would not be given a refund even tho he told me already I would have been refunded.. he stated my trainer ageeed to train his clients there. I objected on the grounds I don't care what the trainer agreed to my contract is with thump gym. That contract clearly states they must provide comparable amenities And the sketchy, makeshift gym on the roof did not meet said contract Steve kept telling me I had to contact the billing company and I kept stating my contract was not with trainer or billing company but was with Steve and thump gym. Steve said he would look into it after telling me several times he won't refund me I returned the next day to follow up on status of refund. Steve was not happy to see me, claimed I made a big scene the day before (I never even raised my voice). He told me I had to contact billing service and he was going to get mall security to escort me out. Then Steve left to get security to physically remove me from premises I left and called billing service and they said they can't give refunds without thump gyms or Steve's authorization. I explained the situation to the very nice woman. And she agreed to follow up. Later that day she said thump gym would extend my membership til 3/1/2020. That very day Steve went to get security to remove me from the gym. I am absolutely terrified to even try to use the gym til 3/1/2020 for fear of being forcibly removed as previously stated read more

Awesome gym with plenty of options! I usually do the boxing bootcamp class but I recently tried out the TRX Suspension class with Asher and it was awesome! It engaged my core, and really strengthened my muscles. Asher has great energy, and is very knowledgeable which is a great plus because you get to learn about muscle functionality and the proper ways to workout to gain maximum results. So if you want to really get a good workout and and see results, I highly recommend Thump Fight Gym. Whether is Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, or Kick Boxing, TFG is the place to be. read more

Within a split second of me saying I wanted to look around and get some information about the gym because I received a Groupon, the immature person at the front desk made it a point to say, and I quote, "ugh, you groupon people. We don't want you here, but how can I help you?" After which I responded with, "Well that really makes me want to workout here." His response, a mocking cry of "Oooh, boo, awwww, you're feelings are hurt." This person's name is John Michael and apparently this gym likes to hire people like this guy who are rude and inappropriate. I've been kick boxing/boxing pretty regularly for the past 13 years and have gone to numerous boxing/martial gyms through out that time and Thump is pretty decent, not perfect, but better than most. Basic boxing/aerobics classes are offered 6 days a week, Mon-Sat, and usually start around 6 or 7 pm, with the exception of the Saturday class which is an hour and a half and starts at 10 am (and Saturday's class is pretty hardcore). Classes vary based on instructor and can range from borderline insane/Navy Seal-esque workouts to good, old fashioned heart-pumping cardio-coasters. They are very influenced by the whole boot camp concept, so, be prepared for doing various (and occasionally embarrassing) exercises outside and in full sight of everyone who lives in this very suburban neighborhood. Boxing classes are for everyone, of various backgrounds and fitness levels, so it's not very technical and you do a very limited amount of actual boxing. The class is mostly jogging, kettle bell exercises, squats, jump roping, and a little boxing. You don't even need hand wraps most of the time and drills on the bag consist of super basic combos (think: jabs, right, jab or jab, right, hook). But it isn't silly thai-bo type of crap, the work outs leave you drenches in sweat, and *most* instructors will teach you how to throw everything correctly. And they do offer MMA and Muay Thai if you want to be all technical, but, you won't break much of a sweat in these classes unless you're sparring. They also offer pilates and yoga, (which I've never tried) and spinning, which, I have to say (and I've taught spinning before) is probably one of the worst spinning classes I've ever taken in my life. It's all about how fast you can spin your legs rather than having any kind of resistance on your bike. Unless you like watching flabby asses bouncing around uncontrollably on bike seats, and burning *maybe* 100 calories in an hour, I'd suggest just skipping this class. But, again, the boxing/aerobics classes make up for the hot mess that is Thump spinning. The membership fee is kind of high (higher than LA Fitness, Bally's, and 24 Hour Fitness) but it usually costs more to join martial arts-type clubs. And this place is slightly cheaper than most. If you want to have access to all classes and use of their gym (which is pretty decent) it'll cost you $65 a month *if* you sign up for a year. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for classes that offer variety so you don't get bored, if your serious about working out (like, you hit the gym regularly, 3-5 a week), or you're trying to lose weight. If you just like acting like a gerbil and running for hours on a machine, save your money. read more

I dont really write reviews unless the service is terrible. So here goes... One of my friends told me that this gym was a good place to workout at. Fun, energetic, and cool people. So I scooped up a Groupon for their CrossFit training to try and see if I like this place. This was definitely not the experience I had. I came to the gym ready to workout in their 8am class. I get there 20 minutes prior to get situated and the kid at the front desk tells me i have to take a "fundamentals" course. (Im thinking in my head, this is ridiculous. I understand its for safety, but I am not a newbie at CrossFit, let alone a gym) Anyways, I asked when the next available class? Dude says "in 2 weeks." Damn, so now I have to wait another two weeks JUST to take this course AND its THREE days long! I work 2 night jobs, so its hard to get off work at night. I asked him can i just join in the next class and and if you see me doing something wrong, then take me out and I will do the "fundamentals" course. Nope, he wont work with me. Fast forward to today (the day I am supposed to call and get a spot for this class because he wouldnt take my name down the last time i went), I call and its full with 30 people. Same kid answered the phone and said he remembered who I was. But he wouldnt help me out. Maybe the instructors or other instructors are much friendlier but he made the experience completely negative. I would not recommend people here just because of his attitude, verbiage, and the lack trying of accommodating a possible client. Maybe its the way he treats the people that purchase through Groupon. Maybe in the future make more fundamentals courses when you throw a deal on Groupon. read more

I took a boxing class here and one word funknasty! This place is great the boxing class consisted of a 30 minute crossfit style session and 49 minute boxing session. I was in pain it was great! here is what I like, crossfit gyms are roughly 80$ a month. regular gyms i.e 24 hour are about 30-35. crossfit gyms dont really have weights, or spinning etc. 24 hour style gyms have weights (good luck if you get into a spinning class) but no other good class like crossfit or boot camp. There you have it THUMP! For 65 a month you have crossfit, boxing, yoga, spinning, and weights, even mma classes its a no brainer in my opinion! Thump is my new home! If you have A.D.D at gym sometimes here you wont get bored. read more

Decent facility despite its size. I only utilized the gym portion. I signed up for a year and it wasn't bad, I just wish the barbells were better, they're so old the knurling on the them were smooth. $125 / month with a well rooted Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program and Muay Thai and no contract. Both instructors are Carlson Gracie/De La Riva Black Belts. Great quality and the guys you roll with are awesome people. A really great vibe. The instructors always train with their students so, you will never have an issue as is common with some academies with a blue or purple belt teaching class and replacing the head instructor as a result of the head instructor simply not feeling like coming in to teach. Both head instructors are present in every class. Very professional and solid program. Their boxing program is excellent as well. Gym is rustic, but it is what it is and gets the job done. read more

Thump is one of those gyms where work gets done. You don't come here for spin class, nor do they offer it. Thump offers truly amazing strength training and conditioning with John DiFede. Crossfit with Pedro, and Mike Hohl gives one of the best deep tissue sports massages around. In fact, all the coaches understand strength training and conditioning. I have tried a lot if fitness programs and been to a lot of gyms, but nothing has put my body to the test and made me feel as good as CrossFit and no gym has felt more like home as Thump! I have been a CrossFit member at Thump CrossFit for about a year and I have seen my box grow from a few small classes working around a boxing ring to a full blown, fully equipped, and fully functional CrossFit box that offers a CrossFit program that never disappoints and an Olympic Weightlifting program that is guaranteed to make you stronger, faster, and better than you ever thought you could be. tried out the gym using the groupon which we HAD to do the crossfit 101's. my boyfriend has his level 1 cert in crossfit and the owner still made him do it. Not to mention both crossfit trainers were arrogant assholes. I would have been open to doing the crossfit classes If they weren't such jerks from minute one. It does have plenty of options but everything is always full. the main gym never has any open machines and full of personal trainers sitting around "training" their clients. There was only one trainer that actually took his job serious. the others were a bunch of meatheads talking the entire time in front of machines of areas needed to work out. I should have known not to sign up after seeing all this but I needed a gym close to home that wasn't LA fitness so regrettably I signed up. I tried canceling my membership but the on.y way to cancel is if there is a medical reason or you move more than 25 miles away. So instead of normal gyms that gave cancellation penalties I have to pay out my entire year with this place. My recommendation is go to La fitness instead of this place. it's cheaper and actually may have some machines available. read more

Bought a groupon for Crossfit and followed instructions to call and make an appt. I did and was informed of the fundamentals class. The guy who answered phone said to call Monday at 8:00 am because class fills up quickly. Took his advice and got into the class. The process was handled well with all the groupon bearing people. They were staffed appropriately to handle the rush and I learned what I needed. Since crossfit classes are limited to 20 people you have to sign up in advance...day off only. It's a pain to go over and sign up in the morning, but it's better than getting there and not getting in. Classes are fantastic. Coaches care about form and there is usually more than one coach during class. Work outs are tough, but doable. Been other places where I am not strong or coordinated enough to do something and it's not modified. Always get a great session in. Highly recommend! read more

I tried the spinning class at thump it kicked my @55. Im not in great shape, but I was able to keep up most of the time. The spinning is kinda hard for newbs, so I might try the boxing instead. My kids are going to the martial arts classes here. Its like an all-in-one gym, its a bit rough & clunky looking though feels like a ma & pa style gym. Would be a 5 star if everything was in one building. Good gym though, rather this than the corporate la fitness stuff. read more
