You know that gym that kills you, but you feel amazing afterwards and only remember that feeling…read moreand come back for more? Here you have it in The Fit Shop. Kaisa the owner makes it a welcoming, motivating and fun time to come and grind it out every time. HIIT group classes with multiple stations consisting of 4-5 movements/reps that you try to do as many times as possible. There may be some more arm or leg work than the other on some days, but it's always a go-hard full body workout. Warmup typically includes some running outside down the front of the other studios in the complex, but there are stationary bikes for anyone who doesn't want to run. I love that they make time for abs, a cool down and stretching at the end. My main classes are: Tune Up - a different HIIT workout every time, multiple tools and equipment Supercharge - a combination of HIIT and kickboxing The Racetrack - 9-10 different stations ("miles") of HIIT They have boxing gloves for rental, and of course bring your own if you have, since you'll need them for Supercharge and Burn Out (mainly kickboxing). My only qualm is boxing on the movable bags; they tend to inch away from you after each punch, so you have to either punch from the opposite side or drag the bag back. They are always changing their workout formats so it's worth checking the schedule and seeing what's happening; I think Kaisa is adding a yoga class on Sundays. As she said, there should be something for everyone here!

Everyone plays a part at maintaining the gym filled with good energy and safe practices. The gym offers BJJ classes for all ages & levels. The instructors are world champs & have a real passion for the sport. Their Striking and Cross Fight Fitness classes offer a hard workout for any level. The facility is fully equipped with full mats, bags, free weights, clean bathrooms & showers. I highly recommend this gym for anyone who is interested in self defense, martial arts or a fitness class

The level of training is far superior than the rest of MMA gyms. Jessie, who's usually the manager attending the front desk is very friendly and very efficient at answering all questions regarding tuition and even scheduling introductory lessons or any assessment for beginners in the art. My first time visiting was quite special to me because I was actually greeted by Master Jonatas Gurgel, also known as "Tagarela" is one of the top Jiu Jitsu fighters in the world (see http://www.bjjheroes.com/bjj-fighters/jonatas-gurgel-tagarela) Even during a class, he was still kind enough to introduce himself which gave me one of the best possible first impressions. Tagarella, my bjj Professor renowned Jiu-Jitsu World Champion who submitted current best grappler on the planet Marcus Buchecha ( see the video http://youtu.be/Its9YtcpQUc ) They also have Muay Thai instructor who is not only a Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and active competitor, but also presently fights professionally at the top MMA promotions. This gives some of the classes offered a very unique balance of techniques. They also have an excellent program for children of all ages making it a perfect academy to introduce your children to the art of Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. Their spacious mats are of the best quality as well as huge fighting cage and boxing and work out area and you can tell that they're kept very clean which is a factor of the utmost importance when training any kind of Martial Art. Every staff member and even the students seem to be very welcoming to practitioners from other academies and of all levels, truly giving the American Top Team of Aventura a very universal feel to it and more of a place to learn effective Jiu-Jitsu techniques rather than just a gym. This is the only gym that you should consider if you want to make a career out of mixed martial arts. They have all the martial arts classes you would need to learn to successfully compete under one roof. Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, Boxing, and my personal favorite Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If your like my wife and like cardio stuff, try their Cross Fit class with UFC fighters trainer Stefane Dias. It's the best way to stay fit and is more applicable to everyday life. If you practice Jiu-Jitsu and are in the North Miami area (even if it's only visiting), you need to stop by and train at the American Top Team. And in the case that you are just looking for a place to start training, then there's absolutely no better place to start your journey than here! Ps. One more thing, here some highlights of my Bjj Professor http://youtu.be/AcXZP3LTac0

I signed…read moreup for Erica's Body Sculpting class on the ClassPass app. I arrived 5 minutes prior to class starting and there was no one at the front desk. A gentleman (I assume he was a worker there) poked his head around the corner from the fitness studio (from another class currently in session) and motioned it would be one minute. I waited until 15 minutes after my class was supposed to start and no one came to greet the people waiting on our class to begin, and then I left. I contacted ClassPass to notify them that my class wasn't happening as scheduled and requested my class to be canceled. I was very disappointed with the studio, I feel like my time was wasted. I wouldn't come back to this studio even if the class was free.. my time was more valuable. Also, the COVID safety measures were very concerning in studio. I noticed that the class in session had no one wearing masks and an older customer was coughing excessively.

I went to a Functional Training Class with Claudia a couple weeks ago. I've been here several times…read morebefore the pandemic because 1. I live very close by, and 2. Their classes are offered at very low credits on ClassPass for a budget friendly workout. Their main exercise class is PowerRumba, which is a dance cardio class. Honestly, I've never been to that one because I've read reviews that you really should be familiar with the movements going into the class, and there's not much instruction on reviewing the movements. But I've done their Body Sculpt (Erica is awesomely fun and looks amazing), Tabata (my kind of workout) and Dyna-Box classes, and they've been great. There was one Tabata class that wasn't really verbal since the instructor called out some cues in Spanish and otherwise whistled to get people's attention. There can be a lot of whistling in their classes, by the way, which I was reminded when I did the Functional Training Class. Just a note for those who dislike being whistled at. The class was otherwise good with plenty of squats, lunges, chest presses, bicep curls, tricep presses and front raises. It did feel a little repetitive since we did 3 rounds of each set but was challenging enough. The one strange aspect of the attendees of these classes is that some of them just stop moving at times when the instructor is encouraging them to finish the round. Some of the clients are older, so I would understand them needing to pause in between exercises, but I've seen younger girls just stop during the rounds. But if you focus on your own workout, you can get a lot out of coming here!
