They don't deserve one star. They are SCAM ARTISTS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I had to hire a lawyer to get my belongings from them. They added multiple charges to my bill that were not legal. This is my lawyers demand letter
Please be aware this firm represents Nancy regarding Piggy Back Moving & Storage's ("PBMS") excessive and fraudulent overbilling for the storage expenses incurred as a result of a June 2019 move of property for her mother,.
Nancy disputes the charges in the new invoice PBMS provided her just recently in January 2020 ("2020 Invoice"). Initially, many of the charges on the 2020 Invoice such as "transportation", "warehouse handling" and "fuel surcharge" (a total of $584.00) are completely.Nancy intends to come to PBMS' storage facility to pick up the property held in storage and does not require any assistance from the Company. Thus, the charges on the 2020 Invoice for "costs" related to an additional move of the property in storage are simply "costs" PBMS has not and/or will not ever expend and must be removed.
In addition, Ms. Steiner disputes that the amount on the 2020 Invoice for "storage" of the property held at PBMS storage facility is correct, as it far exceeds the amount contractually agreed upon prior to the June 2019 move. As is clear from the estimate provided to her by PBMS, Nancy was promised two (2) months of free storage and then a monthly storage charge of $45.00 if the property moved remained in PBMS' storage beyond two months. At this time, the property has been in storage from June 2019 through January 2020, a period of eight (8) months. Accordingly, pursuant to the terms agreed upon prior to the June 2019 move, the most Mrs. Steiner could owe PBMS for storage is $270.00 ($45 x 6 months).
Despite this, PBMS's 2020 Invoice claims that she owes a total of $1,975.00 for "storage", which is an average of nearly $247 per month. PBMS has provided Nancy with absolutely no information regarding how this amount was calculated, but instead has simply vaguely claimed that there were "additional charges" are due to the fact that the amount of property PBMS moved into storage was greater than the amount estimated. While PBMS' contract does advise that additional charges may be incurred if there are additional items included in the move (which were not included in the estimate), it also states that, "[a]ny additional charges above the pre-quoted amount must be pre-approved by the customer prior to any loading." (emphasis added). However, here, Nancy was not advised of any additional charges by PBMS, and thus, did not approve any additional charges prior to the June 2019 move. Accordingly, PBMS does not have a contractual right to now try to charge Mrs. Steiner more for storage of her property, as it was required to notify her of any additional storage charges prior to the June 2019 move.
Furthermore, Mrs. Steiner has advised that you have threatened to sell her property in storage if she does not immediately remit payment for the excessive and fraudulent amounts claimed in the 2020 Invoice and if she does not collect her property in storage by January 25, 2020.
Nancy paid in full the invoice provided to her for the June 2019 move at the time of the move for a total of $7,147.74. In addition, Nancy has already paid PBMS an additional $772.00 for a future move of items from the storage facility to be moved to Miami, which has not yet occurred. Accordingly, Nancy has currently overpaid PBMS by $502.00 for moving/storage costs to date. read more
