Yet another company I will be filing out a complaint for review due to shoddy business practices to…read morethe Better Business Bureau. Yelpers...you let me down in a big way with these guys. I (mistakenly) chose them to move me from Scotts Valley to Sacramento. I made the arrangements back in March, and Francisco, the owner, quoted me $960 and said that he wouldn't charge me for the drive home. Perfect. I sent him an itemized list of furnishings and told him I'd contact him in May for the exact date in June. I mentioned that I'd need at least a 26' truck for the move. The two guys show up and hour late after stopping for breakfast in a 12' panel van with "Susan Bianchi Designs" on the side. I shook my head and told them to call Francisco. "Francisco: I need a 26' truck. What your guys are driving is not going to work." He says he'll bring one right over (from Mountain View). This takes him nearly 2hr, and it's soon obvious why: He'd gone to Budget to rent a truck, but it's only 16'. Me: Francisco, this is never going to fit all of my stuff. I told you that I needed a 26' truck. Francisco: A 26' truck won't fit up this road. Me: A 26' foot truck is what moved me in here. Francisco: A 26' foot truck won't fit up this road. Me: Are you listening? YES. IT. WILL. Francisco: All the other trucks are busy. Me: We made these arrangements in March. I need a bigger truck. The guys get to work loading everything that I'd already had staged outside the house, and they fill the truck very quickly. About 1/3 off my things are left. I ask Francisco what his solution is and he says that he'll make a second trip, but he'll have to charge me for it. Ya, think again pal. I said, "Francisco, this is not my problem; it's yours. I refuse to pay for your lack of planning." So...we agree he'll bring the rest of my things, including 2 racks of clothing that I'd hung and wrapped in syran, and a Suzuki scooter, the next day. After we get to my house and unload, the guys ask me for the cash (that Francisco told me he needs to pay the guys) that I owe them, and I tell them that I'm not paying them a dime until I get my things. Francisco gets on the phone and yells at me, "ARE YOU OK? I NEED TO PAY FOR MY GUYS. YOU OWE ME AT LEAST HALF NOW!" (breathe) I told him what I told his workers, who were very pleasant, that there was no way I was giving him the $1250 he wanted (ya, he bumped up the number by $300 the day I met him--typical) until all my things were accounted for, and since he has NO contract or paperwork, our agreement exists only in Yelp emails. The next day, the team shows up to my old house an hour after they say they will, and my landlady was not pleased; what's worse is that they show up in the same stupid panel van that apparently belongs to Susan, and the thing has no ramp. What? NO RAMP? Nope. When they arrive in Sacramento, half of my wardrobe is strewed all the floor of this filthy vehicle. The syran wrap I'd wrapped the clothing in is gone (??), and he makes his team dead-life the 500+lb scooter off the end of the van, bringing a huge chunk of my clothing with it. I. Was. Pissed. I didn't hold back telling him how poorly this entire move has gone, and when I asked why he refuses to listen when his customer tells him what she needs, vis a vis the size of the moving truck, he tells me, "I can't afford a truck that size." That's when I sort of lost it...I said, "THEN YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TAKEN MY JOB, AND YOU SHOULDN'T BE IN THIS BUSINESS!" Lessons Learned: 1. Francisco has a nice team, but they have no idea what they're doing. Not even close. They are NOT professional movers: they have no trucks (I later learned), no contract, no moving dollies to roll furniture (said they didn't need them), and all-cash employees. Total amateurs. 2. Francisco does not listen, which is a shame when he lucks out with a customer who knows exactly what size truck will fit her stuff. 3. Francisco is no business man. He is making "it" up as he goes, and when it comes to one of the most stressful events of anyone's life, that isn't acceptable. Bottom Line: This was a total sh*t show. Save yourself the headache. Susan Bianchi: I have no idea how you are related to Francisco, but a word of advice: One day, you will be sued for something that his guys do with your truck due to their lack of professionalism and unsafe practices. Count on it.

He was punctual, professional and just seemed like a good guy, so I made sure to get his info. When it was time for me to move to a new condo, I hired Martin and his team to help me with the move. They arrived on time, worked hard and were VERY careful with all of my things. For example, instead of just rolling a heavy round mirror down the hall, he picked it up and made sure it would not get damaged. Things that other moving companies I've hired in the past forget! They are also fully insured, which is required of most condo buildings in the city. The move was efficient, and his entire three-man crew was professional and polite. I'd hire them again for any moving job in a heartbeat. (Make sure to tip them well!)

The last time I used Albion Moving was 12/31/2024 to move my 91 year old dad and in 36 years Joe and his quality in service have not changed a bit. Albion Express Movers & Storage company has some very unprofessional, rude and crude workers…read more This morning, i saw behavior that was so bad, I thought the company owner and anyone contemplating business with Albion Express should know. July 16th, mid morning at Sanchez in 29th next to Alice restaurant. There was an Albion moving truck and a car parked close too close to the trucks' orange cones, then an enraged mover, a man in his 60s -70s started screaming and cursing at the driver of the vehicle, an older woman. The peaceful neighborhood people came to the woman's defense to ask the mover to stop cursing and yelling in front of all people and children. The rude workers clearly didn't care, they are representing a business. See photos: Albion employees flipping off the neighborhood people and screaming telling them to shut up! Several people called the telephone painted on the truck but no one answered and a recording comes on. Maybe he's the owner? I know a lot of folks count on the referral and experiences of yelp users perhaps the photos will help you decide, if you want to business with Albion Express and their representatives.

Being a business owner myself, I know you cant make everyone happy. So I set up an appointment with Juan to give me a visual assessment. My move is fro Union City, to Fremont (rental), then to Union City for storage. He came in and looked at everything we had. He appreciates nice furniture and assured me that if they couldnt take it apart and put it together themselves, that he would come in himself to do this. I took that as a huge vote of confidence. Promised me a good estimate, as well as to be taken care of. Although they were not the cheapest I got a quote from, my gut told me to go with them. Andrea did the booking, and was VERY persuasive. She had wonderful knowledge about her staff and knew exactly what I needed to do to save a little bit of money. Heck, she even gave me a list of do-to's before my move. I read in the review that Victor's crew was mentioned with high regard, so I knew I had to ask for them. Ive never moved with a moving company before, so I was probably Ms. paranoia 101. Andrea assured me I was with the right company, and the right crew, and she couldn't have hit the nail on the head any more acurate. GREAT JOB ANDREA!!!!! Victor, Dennis, Ishmal, Daniel - you guys are amazing!!!!!! Since my move from my home to a rental condo is temporary, we plan on purchasing another home. I am going back to you guys again in the next 6 months (give or take). They were efficient, and quick, and professional, and knew exactly what to do. When they werent sure, they asked, instead of assuming. They were personable, and respectful of my furniture. I really do appreciate that, and you better believe XO will quickly become my quickest referral because of them. I plan on using them again when I move, and as a matter of fact, I am moving our company to a different location, and GUESS who I'll be requesting/using again? You have made me one happy customer!

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Working with this company and the staff has been…read morethe worst moving experience! I moved from the Bay Area to the east coast and I chose this company because they were local, accredited and friendly when I initially called. I made the moving arrangements and I was told over the phone Kathy (Relocation Consultant) it would take approximately 7 - 21 days from pick up (incorrect information - it is 1 - 21 business days from first date of delivery) to delivery on the east coast and I was quoted a good price of approximately $2100. The day of pick up, Edgar (the lead mover) start haggling with my over the price and quote me a "new" price of $2500 and explains to me he is cutting me a deal because I am "over weight" etc etc etc. I signed a binding contract and my stuff was loaded onto the truck on a Friday September 12th. I called the following week on Wednesday, to get an estimated date of arrival from the company. I spoke with Tami (Customer Service Representative) who told me the shipment would be leaving the following Monday, September 22nd but she would call back next week to confirm. I never received a phone call so I called them a week later on a Wednesday; Tami was on vacation and I was told by Andrea they were going to contact the dispatch person and call back. By Friday I did not receive a phone call so I called them back again and I was told with 100% confirmation that the truck was leaving the following Monday, September 29th. I called the following week again because I never received an update regarding my shipment and I was told there was a "mix up" in communication, they were "short staffed," and there was a "delay" with one of the drivers and my shipment did not leave. Melissa, one of the supervisors then took over the processing of my shipment. I was then informed by her that I owed an additional $78 dollars because they forgot to include a tax on the initial quote even though I signed a binding contract and they could not ask for additional money. Melissa was unable to estimate or confirm a new shipment date because of scheduling issues with the drivers. Needless to say, 2 additional weeks later my shipment finally left the bay area and finally arrived to me on October 21st well over the original estimated shipment time. Many of my items are broken and boxes are torn up with items falling out of them. Tabletops have been damaged and scratched because the movers shoved them into other boxes with other items. I have been nothing but disappointed with this moving company from start to finish. Their customer service is terrible, they are poor communicators and do nothing but make excuses for their horrible service.

If United tries to do your move through Bartels/Piedmont Moving Systems/Whatever they call…read morethemselves, calmly turn the other direction and run like hell! I can't even begin to describe the horrors of using this company, but I'll try in case the other reviews haven't convinced you enough. Firstly, the coordinator for our move, Linda K. (who is mentioned for her terrible service and demeanor in other reviews), was horrible to deal with, completely unsympathetic and does nothing to try and reunite you with your stuff. Our awful experience started when Bartels misquoted our move after their mistake of getting the destination address wrong (they had the completely wrong city in NY somehow). After agreeing to the quote and signing the contract, they informed us that they had gotten the city wrong and with the correct destination city, the move was substantially more, and we'd be required to pay the higher amount despite the fact that it was Their mistake. After going back and forth several times with Linda being heated at best and downright rude and ignorant at worst, we finally settled on a price agreeable to both of us. In this process, we ended up speaking with the GM of the operation, Mark B., who basically said tough luck and was equally nightmarish to deal with and disrespectful. But, unfortunately for us, our troubles weren't over when we finally agreed on price. I suppose I should have been concerned when I heard the driver, Josef A., calling multiple friends while packing my stuff and talked about making stops between San Jose and NY to visit along the way on his trip with my (and other paying customers') stuff. I then find out from a slip by Linda that he didn't even leave the Bay Area despite finishing loading all his customers for FOUR days. Then, he proceeded to take 10 days longer than I was told by United to deliver our items. All in all it took 17 days to get our stuff. 2.5 weeks when we were promised it would take a week. Terrible. After calling United corporate and asking to speak with a manager, we were able to get a small remuneration after all Bartel's had put us through and United said they would look into removing Bartel's as a United affiliate. Make sure to ask what local company will be packing your stuff/coordinating your move if you use a large company like United. Look the local companies up, and tell United you want a different local mover if the reviews aren't good (or in Bartels case, embarrassingly abysmal)! I wish I had known this, but didn't know it would be Bartel's until they showed up at my doorstep to pack up my stuff. Don't make my mistake!!

However, it seems that our two movers, Alan and Junior, were told to arrive as soon as possible, because they came at 8:08 am. Although I expected we would finish a little bit sooner than 3 hours (but were prepared to pay for the 3-hour minimum), I thought it possible an extra hour past that would be burnt up since they had to wait around to unload. But they were much more efficient than I could have imagined while still handling our items with care! Our 9 boxes (all packed already), 3 pieces of big furniture, and a few smaller pieces of furniture like mini drawers and chair were loaded into the truck in only 30 minutes. So even though they had to wait around for an extra hour, they finished unloading everything into our new apartment at 10:50 AM and we paid for 3 hours. It came out to about $440 total with the cash discount, extra mattress bag of $10, and drive time of 15 minutes calculated into the cost as double drive time. Some furniture like my 5-foot long wood desk, the mattress, and box spring were shrink-wrapped (and/or covered in blankets), but some smaller items like my piano bench and mini exercise bike were not. But everything was in perfect condition after unloading. They also have this gigantic box on a dolly used for miscellaneous items (like trash bins). All in all, we had a great experience despite the initial time mishap and would hire them if we move again!
