My favorite Dallas restaurant now in Houston! Life just got so much better!!! I lived in Dallas for a couple of years and Pie Tap is one of the things I miss the most. So this is a welcome addition to Houston! I had to order my favorites; Simple Salad and Veggie Pizza + salami. I also HIGHLY recommend the board as an appetizer, but too much for just 1 person. Definitely shareable. Great location on Westheimer. Parking garage attached, so very convenient. Service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a cool laid back vibe. Casual while still elevated. If you have been to one in Dallas, it's the same vibe. I do not give 5 stars unless it is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. And I have them 5. Check my reviews and you will see I don't easily hand them out. Give Pie Tap a shot. Fill the restaurant. Keep them busy. If they don't make it, I will be very unhappy LOL.

Planed a full day outing around the location of this restaurant. Just to find out they decided not to honor restaurant weeks on "sundays" even though that is no where on the website or posting if there hrw menu. Since our server Marcus was so nice and we were starving by this time we decided to stay. The restaurant is well lit with upbeat music playing in the background Blueberry refresher mocktail 9/10 Rosemary lemonade 7/10 Meatballs 6/10 ~ lacking some flavor and texture Crazy Alfredo 9/10 Chicken pie 7/10

New development in Highland Village apartment complex. You'll definitely be parking in the garage to get here. Other than that the restaurant itself inapproachable and bright. Lots of natural light and a clear view to the two pizza ovens they use in the kitchen area. Not much to say for the service side of things, we were say quickly at lunch time, friendly server to help us get the basics done and answer a question or two. The pizza style familiar to neopolitan I'd say, but it's not tavern or new you style. Very thin crust on the bottom almost tending toward cracker like crisp, it's not soft anywhere. Very bubbly edge and chewy too, easy munch on. The half dozen premade pizza toppings they have are pretty standard for American pizza joints, nothing that looks to corner the authenticity market. The topping composition is high quality though, I was really digging the fennel sausage sliced long and thin, it was also used in the rigatoni. Calamari was lightly battered with peppers thrown in as well, which is always a welcome addition. This is a great no fuss and no regret pizza spot, covers all the bases of what you want from a sit down pie spot, with plenty of drinks and beers available and tvs to watch. On the flip side it doesn't hit some of the highs are classic Italian flavors and combos you might be looking for when you do pizza.

I've had the opportunity to check out Pie Tap twice and I appreciate a laid back restaurant like this in the River oaks area. My friend and I went the first day they opened and got a chance to chat with the team about the restaurant. It's extremely spacious, with booth and table seating, along with a full bar. They have an impressive happy hour (3-6pm) with $4 mimosas, $5-$6 cocktails (add the mocktail option to happy hour as well please), and $7 half pies. This to me is a real happy hour. My second time here, I actually ate. I got the half pie margherita, the blueberry mocktail and a topo chico. The pies came out within 7 minutes and it was delicious. I got mine with the gluten friendly crust. Just wish they had vegan cheese. They also have decent salad options and a few other things for folks who may not want pizza. Plenty of parking in the garage so check them out!

Tapped into a new pizza spot in town. We started off with the salad that was so yummy we cleaned the plate. Perfect amount to share as a starter. The Prosciutto pizza was my favorite of all. All the toppings paired well together. The taste of balsamic in each bite. The ricotta almost seemed whipped and melted into the warm pizza. The margherita pizza was a little floppy. But I'm sure with time they will perfect it. When I mentioned this the waiter even stopped us to say he already told the chef. We were impressed with their response to any comments. Refreshing to see a business actually take criticism and be willing to improve. Honestly lately I have gotten used to waitstaff not being that attentive. Each one we encountered this evening were very much willing to do anything and answer all the questions. We enjoyed the outside seating which wasn't too loud considering it is along Westheimer. There is parking in the garage behind the restaurant that seemed to have ample parking on a Monday.

I was very much impressed by my visit to Pie Tap. It's new to Houston, just opened up a couple days ago, and I definitely recommend it to anyone The exterior is super hip, and when you walk inside it's even more modern, trendy, yet inviting. The decor and fixtures are gorgeous. The brick pizza ovens are awesome. The bar area was fully stocked and immaculate. I know it was pretty much a grand opening, but everything had a place and the layout/decor was exceptional I was greeted at the door and was told that I could sit wherever I'd like. Once seated the host came back with a brass bottle of hand sanitizer My server was very friendly and bubbly. She was incredibly knowledgeable in terms of Pie Tap - the menu, history, suggestions etc. The menu offers a variety of apps, pastas, salads, and other entrees, but their breaks and butter is pizza. They have plenty of beer, cocktails, mocktails, and other drinks to choose from The service was speedy, and the attention to detail did not go unnoticed. The food tasted incredible. It was nearly looked as good as it tasted My server was incredible, the ambiance was exceptional, and the food was delightful... I will definitely be returning Some tips: There is a parking garage/valet as part of the building Pie Tap is connected to. There are lunch specials and happy hour promotions. I would recommend the 1/2 pizza and 1/2 salad lunch option for $12. It's still A LOT of food Cheers!!

Went to Pie Tap for lunch; located in River Oaks. Not exactly sure the parking situation but we parked across the street at Walgreens and walked over. The interior is quite nice for a casual Italian spot / pizzeria. Upon being seated, we got the blueberry mocktail to start. It was tasty but a bit too sweet, 3.5/5. We ordered the fried calamari for appetizer; it was cooked well but the pieces were a bit small and it lost some of the tenderness of the calamari; 3.5/5. The Caesar salad was also ordered in a smaller starter portion; super tasty. The lettuce leaves were a bit large so it was hard to eat in one bite so it was spot on; 4.5/5. We ordered a spicy rigatoni vodka pasta for the table; pasta was cooked well (al dente) and the dish was well received, 4/5. We also got a few pizzas family style for the table; the sausage, the prosciutto, and the mushroom. The sausage pizza was slightly forgettable; the crust is a good and crunchy bar style crust. The pie could've used some more of the fennel sausage and some additional toppings. 3.5/5. The prosciutto was the favorite out of the three pizzas. I wasn't a fan of the dollop of ricotta cheese but after I took it off, this pizza is solid with a very traditional flavor profile (play off of the fig and pig combo). 4/5. The mushroom pizza was the least well received out of the three pizzas; the farm eggs on the pizza really gave it a breakfast feel; unfortunately if you're not an egg fan, this pizza isn't for you. If the mushrooms were sautéed or smoked a bit more, that could've added some layers of flavor to the pizza but most of this pizza went into our to-go box. 3/5. Overall, the interior of the restaurant is probably the nicest I've seen for a pizza spot in Houston. The pasta was solid based off of the one dish that we ordered. The pizza is a nice bar style with a very crispy crust; this is quite different than the slightly more doughy Neapolitan style. I think we should've ordered some of the other more basic topping pizzas, which may have been better received (Margherita and pepperoni pizza).

Spotted this spot on TikTok and decided to slide through since they just opened on June 2nd. They've got a happy hour deal that caught my eye that includes food and drink specials. Sounds like a win, right? Free parking in the garage attached to the building, which is basically a love letter to Houston locals. Service? On point. The hostess greeted me the second I stepped in, and I'm pretty sure the manager chimed in too. The bartender was cool, gave solid recommendations, and yes they've got a full bar. I ordered the pineapple habanero margarita (light on the habanero because I'm not about that spicy drink life). It was actually amazing. Sweet, tangy, with just the right kick. Now... the pizza. I went with the happy hour pepperoni. $9, four slices, one pepperoni per slice like they were rationing it for war times. The dough was too Sweet for my liking but it was cooked crispy just how I like it. But for pepperoni? Nah. I like abundance, not minimalism on my pizza. Then came the plot twist: $3.50 for a side of buffalo sauce. Three dollars American green dollars And fifty cents. For sauce. Be serious. Please! Overall: Service was great Drinks are fire Parking ... free Pizza was mid. Would I go back? Yeah; but next time I'm ordering anything but the pizza.

It was okay... Very Friendly staff, I give them that! Pizza a bit on the oily side. Visually appealing, but lacking when it hit the taste buds. Dallas can keep this one, along with the Cowboys too, Lol. Likely wouldn't go back

First time Pie Tapper. This place is leggit (if you can spot it from The 'Hiemer) I ordered the half pie half salad lunch special. What a deal at 12 bucks! First the salad. All greens were fresh. It had artisanal cherry tomatoes and all root vegetables were shaved - including endive. Lots of different veggies. Def NOT a "simple salad" lol. On to the personal pan Italian sausage pizza. I'm usually a "thin crust guy ". This one is on the thicker side but somehow is light. Almost reminds me of sourdough! The Italian sausage was SLICED link sausage straight off the push cart street vendor in Lower Manhattan! Really authentic. The Smoked Mozzarella was a beautiful complement to the sausage and was melded together with some of best sautéed onions I've ever had! Really a classic pie. Totally satisfying! I washed it down with a Four Corners El Chingón IPA (outstanding) and great conversation and service from Kora, the knowledgeable barkeep. ILL BE BACK!!! Only drawback is this place is hidden under some apartments in the retail space. Skip the valet and plenty of parking to avoid rain and heat!!

Pie tap is amazing! From the Sourdough crust to the hummus with fresh sourdough. The pizzas are delicious and the customer service is A+! The vibe is great for a date night, dinner with friends or for families. Everybody is so welcoming. I am not sure why they don't have an hour wait!

I love it! Think of mod pizzas parents when it comes to the layout of the restaurant. The food is super good, everything tastes really fresh! I had the pepperoni pizza- A1. I also had the blueberry french toast which I really liked full of fresh blueberries and loved it wasn't overly sweet . Service was great and the manager also checked in periodically. Check out the brunch and bar at Pie Tap!

I ate at Norigami Tuesday night and it was great as were the cocktails served up at the nextdoor bar called Hidden Bar. On Tuesday, I tried the Thai Chili Ginger Margarita ($13) and it was great, complete with a hunk of candied ginger which I "gingerly" consumed throughout my drink experience...see what I did there? Next, I had the Three Dots and a Daiquiri ($13) with Rum, Lime, Velvet Falernum, All Spice and Pineapple and it was very similar to one of my favorite tiki drinks, the Three Dots and a Dash, complete with 3 luxardo cherries. To finish, I had the absolutely incredible Golden Laurel ($16) with Gin, Italicus Bergamot, House Greek Botanical Bitters and Sea Salt. It is equally beautiful served with a clear bay leaf and delicious. Last night, I was guided by the friendly bartender to try the Et Tu Banana" ($15) with Banana Bourbon, Spiced Pear, Creme de Banane, Campari and Citric Acid. I was a little worried about the cocktail being overly banana-y but it wasn't at all. It was a fantastic drink. For my last call, he recommended the Left Hand ($13) with Bourbon, Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chocolate Bitters. Again, fantastic. Both nights, the bartenders and drinks were fantastic. Ambiance is nice with moody lighting. They even have a bidet toilet seat in the bathroom! Hidden Bar is a "hidden" gem, for sure. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

All my friends who love to eat and a mix of different nationalities were amazed and impressed how good the food was in this bar. I hate giving this little gem away but it is worth it. I will definitely be back for more. We were having such a good time that I forgot to take pictures. Get ready for flavor town.

We had a 2:30 reservation, showed up at 3:30, and they were completely chill about it. Great first…read moreimpression. Free parking lot right next to the building -- convenient and appreciated. Party of 8 was seated right away with no hassle. We ordered a mimosa tower for $50, which came out to about 2 mimosas per person, and hookah for $20. Since we came during happy hour there were also shot and drink specials, so the timing worked out perfectly. The DJ was genuinely interactive the whole time -- kept our energy up to the point where we ended up inviting more friends out to join us mid-visit. That's the mark of a good time. Now the food -- almost an afterthought with how much fun we were having, but it delivered. I got the Five Central breakfast, which is a mountain of food. Easily 4 eggs, plus all the fixings. My friend ordered the lobster and grits and it was so good I immediately had order envy. That's my order next time, no debate. The bathrooms were clean and the mirror lighting is genuinely great for photos if that matters to you. My meal came to $21 before tax, very reasonable especially during happy hour. Just note that gratuity of about 18% is added automatically for parties over 6. No surprises if you know going in. Will absolutely be back.

After a Sunday fun day, we were looking for a dinner spot in the area. My friend had been to Five…read moreCentral prior and sang its praises, so the group decided to check it out. We Ubered over, so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. Ambiance (3.5/5): Five Central is big! There's a big restaurant, a cigar lounge, a huge patio, and more. While we dined at the restaurant, it seems like there's a ton to check out here. They often will host live music too as I saw some ads about it while I was in the restroom. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress was great. She was friendly, attentive, and she went above and beyond. They brought me the wrong side, and I told her it was okay, but she ended up bringing me the right side a few minutes later. Which meant my meal had three sides instead of the two it came with. I really appreciated that! Drinks (4/5): Five Central has a good list of cocktails and more, but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol, so I went with a Shirley Temple lol. That brought me back. One of my favorite beverages as a kid. They were out of maraschino cherries, but we made it work. Food (4/5): We started off by splitting the coconut curry wings and the parmesan chicken bites. Out of the two appetizers, the chicken bites were my favorite. They were fried just right, crispy, while still tender inside. The sauce smothered on top made the dish. The wings, on the other hand, while flavorful, were a bit small. Still good though. With that being said, the star of the evening was my entree: the fried chicken. Fried chicken is either going to be a hit or a miss... here, it's definitely a hit. Crispy and well-seasoned on the outside, juicy and tender inside. Served with a sweet hot sauce, Texas toast, and your choice of two sides. I went with fries and mashed potatoes. The sides were just as good. The mashed potatoes were a buttery heaven and the fries were crisp and you could tell they weren't frozen. It's a generous portion size, too! I ate half and took the rest to-go. If you're looking for some Southern cooking, with love, Five Central is an awesome spot.
