I think I'm already on record as being a self described East Coast pizza snob and with that comes the declaration that Imo's is not really pizza, its some abomination of a pizza like food, there- I've ranted enough. Ok, about Pie Guy- This is the best pizza in STL if your looking for real NY Style pizza, I'll go further, its the best pizza in STL and puts to shame the hip Neapolitan over priced stuff that currently is all the rage (editors note: I still do like that style see my review of Pastaria). The crust is perfect and done exactly right and to the reviewer who suggested it is served burned-friend, that's how its supposed to be served, a little crispy, I suggest you get yourself to Imo's BTW. Lots of toppings, everything served seemed fresh, and the sauce is excellent, FYI, an 18" they serve is more than two people can eat, but its great the next day for lunch, IMHO. Not a lot of seating BUT, its adjoined to a great little beer hall right next door! If your looking for a great pizza and beer very informal spot, this is it! read more

The closest thing you'll find to real NY pizza albeit at twice the price. I ordered a pepperoni and a pepperoni mushroom onion pizza as well as garlic knots and it was absolutely reminiscent of being in Manhattan, so good. The pizza is a full 18inches cut into six or eight slices your choice. A perfect NYC type crust with just the perfect amount of grease in the middle. The garlic knots were garlic, cheese, and dough goodness. The do offer pizza by the slice which is cool and they're huge slices. I'll definitely order this again! read more

Is there a another star to add here???? Incredible. Between the pizza & the salads & the garlic knots & the delicious ranch & hot honey PIE GUY FOR PRESIDENT! Great food great koolaid great people read more

Ordered pick-up on an NFL Sunday using their website. The ordering and pickup process was a breeze and the food was ready by the time quoted on the website. I ordered a 18" Whole pie with pepperoni. Overall it was a very good thinner crust pizza, albeit a bit greasier than I prefer. read more

I can't believe I somehow missed this little slice of heaven! I visited recently and had some of THE BEST vegan pizza I've had in a long time! I was expecting it to just be a slice of vegan cheese pizza, but when it arrived, it was piping hot and loaded with veggies. Definitely looking forward to my next visit! read more

Love the pizza but service not desirable. Every time we order for pickup it's not ready on time and we're told we are early even if the app tells us it's ready . Staff not friendly or helpful. We're at the point pizza is not good enough to go through this every time we order. read more

Ordered my first 18" pizza from Pie Guy. Got red sauce, pepperoni, sausage, black olives and green bell peppers. The pizza was ready when promised, hot and delicious. Will definitely order from here again! read more

We are visiting from Texas and we wanted a quick pizza to eat at our AirB&B. I looked this place up and decided to order since it's a few minutes away from where we are staying. Ordering online was a breeze, pick-up was easy and out food was great quality for the price. Needless to say we have pizza left over for a couple of days. Grab you a pizza from here. Pie Guy Pizza - 1/2 Pepperoni and 1/2 Pepperoni with Jalapeños! - Pizza Near Me - St. Louis, Missouri

Travis: 5 Stars Nick: 4 Stars Undoubtedly essential pizza in STL. It's late-night counter in the Grove is the best for a post-bar/concert snack, but it's also worth a drive from the county for dinner. We got: Pizza - Lots at this point. The crust is great, crisp but foldable NY style. The sauce is on point. Sweet and savory. Nick prefers a simple pepperoni, but their other ingredients are great too. Pizza Knotchos - Top knotch (Yeah, I went there. Come at me!). Garlic knots smothered, covered, chunked, and gunked in pizza goodness. Mozzarella, provel, Marinara, pepperoni chunks, ricotta, tapenade and basil. It's a great appetizer to share or an even better pile of deliciousness to eat alone in shame. Sweet Knots - Great sweet treat. Definitely check it out! And if you do, please...please do us a solid and tell Mitch that Travis says "Hi". read more

My first time trying it! We ordered for pickup and forgot that it was Pride weekend. It was early so it wasn't crowded but they weren't having folks inside and had a table at their garage door where you ordered from. We had been out and about and my toddler needed to use the bathroom while we were waiting for our pizza. They were kind enough to let us in even though it was a special setup. I know that's not a food review, but I was very thankful! So, excellent service. The pizza was still hot when we got home. Delicious and just what we expected. Also, a huge pie so we enjoyed leftovers. Thanks, Pie Guy! read more

Pizza was pricey and nothing to write home about. Cool vibe and interesting establishment but no mixed drinks and only craft beer.

I grew up on Long Island, NY- about 20 min outside of manhattan. We had pizza places on every corner, I worked in pizza shops all through high school, and it was horrifying to learn that you can't just walk into a pizza shop and get a delicious slice when you leave that NY bubble. I haven't lived in NY in almost 10yrs but I've never been able to get over losing pizza as I know and love it. I think I can finally call STL home because of Pie Guy! You guys- this is real, NY style pizza. The heated slice gets that slightly crisp bottom crust that lets you fold the slice in half as you walk down the street dripping from the re-melted cheese over your white paper plate. This might not sound appealing to everyone- but it's a religion and it's delicious. I nearly cried tears of happiness after my first pieguy slice. The sun started shining brighter, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about them since. It's 10am and I want some PieGuy for breakfast. read more

This pizza is really good to me. It is one of the few pizza's that I can eat the crust edges.

Simple and Convenient! Looking for a late night snack can be problematic in The Lou. Most restaurants stop serving long before midnight. The Gramophone in The Grove has offered sandwiches super late for quite some time. However, The Grove just strengthened it late night options with the addition of Pie Guys Pizza. I discovered Pie Guys though NPR. Public radio is definitely useful sometimes! And the description on the place was pretty spot-on: simple New York style pizza that's offered late night. The biggest draw for me is the location. They are connected to Gezellig Bottle Shop. When I heard about the new pizza joint, I didn't jump at it right away. I decided to swing by Gezellig on a whim, and there it was. Another would be the hours. Pie Guys is open until midnight Tuesday through Thursday and until 3:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Perfect for the late night owls in The Grove! I don't eat a lot of meat and cheese anymore. Luckily, vegan cheese is becoming more common. However, I didn't know that Pie Guys had vegan options when I came by. I just kept it simple and ordered a slice of cheese. Just as advertised, the slice was fairly large and had just simple ingredients. And it hit the spot. However, I will definitely try the vegan slice next time. I was a little surprised by the price. Single slices start at four dollars and go up a dollar for other options. However, a whole cheese pie is only $17, so it seems like ordering a whole one is the way to go. Having Pie Guys next to Gezellig makes the whole package very appealing. Something quick and easy before heading to Ready Room or a meal or snack while drinking good beer. read more

Ordered a pizza the other day that had flat pepperoni. Was disappointing because they have always had these delicious pepperonis that cupped. Made me feel like I was eating at papa John's instead of a $30 one topping pizza read more

Holy cow this stuff is amazing!!! Some of the best garlic knots AND pizza we've EVER had (and we've had A LOT)! We got the 18 inch combo with garlic knots- a great value and plenty to feed our family of four (with breakfast leftovers). We got half hamburger, half bacon and hamburger- so good. The cheese is AMAZING and it's all so flavorful! The knots are CAKED in buttery cheesy goodness and you just can't stop eating them. It's probably a good thing we're from out of town or we'd be in trouble with this place. We will DEFINITELY be back whenever we're in the city! read more

Pie Guy Pizza - What's left of our giant pie- breakfast for tomorrow! Half hamburger, half bacon and hamburger. Yum!! - Pizza Near Me - St. Louis, Missouri

I was ecstatic to hear that there was now another NYC style pizza joint nearby. I tried their slice during the weekend of Grove Fest and it was straight up NOT good at all. I cannot even pinpoint the details (the crust was especially off and the pizza overall just felt stale and old). Also, $5 for a slice? If it were good I could've let it go, but it was just additional insult to injury. The good news is that they open late, later than most food establishments, so if you really need a pizza fix, this is your (only) spot. Like most NYC pizza places in STL, I'll give this spot another try at some point, but I'm not so sure at $5 a slice. read more

Great spot for pizza. The Detroit style pizza was yummy the crust was thick and pillowy. The spinach and bacon salad was stellar.

Great New York style pizza! A bit pricier than other pizza spots where you can dine in if trying to feed a family. That's the only reason for 4 stars. read more

I love going to pizza slice places wherever I travel. My wife isn't always fond of me doing this . As she tends to be more of a fine dining type person. But back to this restaurant. Soon as we walked in to the dining area I loved all their nostalgia from the old days. I never come in to a place expecting great food or service. Especially after Covid. The first person that helped us was ok. But once we got the young lady to help us what a difference it made. Showed us all the pie options. We went with the pepperoni duh! But my wife is vegan and when she told her that she showed her a new option. It was a lemon zest option I don't remember what they called it. Well once they brought our slices to our table holy moly!!! The pepperoni slices have to be in my top 3 slices I have ever had! My wife is extremely picky since she is vegan. She said her slice was so good she wanted another one. And she very very rarely says that about pizza. I can't wait until next year when we head to the Transworld Halloween convention again. This will be my first stop! read more

Delicious pizza big enough to feed a whole football team or two very ambitious people. The crust was perfectly crispy and the mini pepperonis were delightful. I did find the pizza to be pretty greasy, but hey it's pizza, and we're not going for healthy. This is the second time we have ordered from Pie Guy this week. The first time we ordered their Detroit style pizza which was significantly smaller in size but much thicker and just as filling as their big New York style. Would definitely recommend giving them a try. read more

I liked this place a lot. Overall, the slices are big and delicious. I think the pepperoni is probably the winner here, and at five dollars a slice or maybe at six dollars I forget, two slices will fill you up and send you home happy. It is also connected to a bar which has a phenomenal draft selection. I don't usually care about the service in terms of people being super friendly or not, I'm there for the food, but I would say on both the bar side and food side people were either very short and just not friendly, or seemed disinterested in serving (this was more on bar side). Which was a bit of a disappointment, I don't really understand the reason for that, I had heard they got hit with a big rush on the food side just before we got there, which is why a couple of things were out. But in general, I shouldn't feel like me asking for them to check on what pizzas available should be met with a sort of negative reaction. It's felt a little soup Nazi-ish to me lol. Yes, it is good pizza and a cool spot, but I just don't see the reason to have the sort of attitude that people have that we interacted with. I will give it another shot because I thought it was a cool spot with good food and drinks, and hope that the next time is better. I don't want to go to a place where I'm spending money and tipping well, and then have to act like I'm gracious that they will even serve me if you know what I mean. read more

Lovely spot for a slice or a whole pie , salads and knots . You can order at the window abd they have cute little tables on the sidewalk if you want to stay I got a slice of pepperoni which is perfectly salty and the crust is thin New York style . You only need one slice unless you're really hungry . I also got the chopped salad . 1/2 order is plenty for one. Salad is freshly chopped . It's a simple salad . STL style . so don't expect anything fancy . read more

We decided to try Pie Guy since we found it on the top 100 list and who doesn't love pizza? The topping and size options were simple but what you get for your pizza is far from it. I don't know how to explain why a basic pepperoni pizza here is just better but it is. The cheese is the perfect amount of chewy, the crust is the perfect thickness, and the slices are nice and big. Definitely recommend! read more

Overall, a solid place to grab NY-style pizza at the Grove. I have walked by Pie Guy a couple of times and was interested in trying it. I was able to go with a friend and we went to both Gezellig and Pie Guy at the same time. I got a slice of the cheese pizza and it was different that other slices that I've had in the city (Pizza Head, the URB etc.). There was a more definite herb flavor to the pizza than the places that I mentioned that resonated throughout eating my cheese slice. Pricing was around $4 for the cheese and around ~$5 for pizza with toppings, which is similar to the URB and Pizza Head. Another plus to Pie Guy is the location. It's connected to a great place to get beers for a reasonable price (Gezellig) and you can bring the beers from Gezellig over to Pie Guy to chow down on your pizza while drinking beer. The hours also make it a good place to grab a late night snack in the Grove. read more

Decent pizza but not New York style. I've had better one dollar slices in New York. The crust was too floppy and the marinara didn't have much flavor. read more

Solid choice for pizza and salad to go. Got a whole pizza and a whole salad, which is plenty for dinner for two. Pizza is 18", so the $20 base price +~$2/topping seems reasonable. Good crispy/chewy crust, plenty of cheese. Toppings are quality, but would have liked more density for them. Had I only ordered one, vs. the three I got, I'd have been upset with the amount. STL chopped salad also was good for a fairly basic choice. The garlic knot breadcrumbs help it stand out, as well as the excellent homemade tapenade that comes in the corner. read more

Super small menu...pizza, garlic knots and salad. We got an 18" pepperoni NY style and garlic knots. The food was fantastic and was ready super quickly. The seating situation isn't ideal especially if you have kids with you. They share a space with a bar and our family basically had to sit at picnic tables - they don't have high chairs here so keep that in mind if you come. Overall we really enjoyed the pizza, it was definitely quality. read more

I am a pizza lover, period; however, I am usually forced to order chicken as my main topping at most pizza joints, because their pepperoni has beef in it (I have a beef "allergy"). But Pie Guy's pepperoni is all pork! The pizza itself is full of flavor. All I needed was a side of garlic butter for the leftover crust and I would have been an overly satisfied hog. I won't count it against the pizza chef or manager for looking irritated by my asking about the pepperoni ingredients--I'm needy and particular. Once I'm satisfied, folks usually see that I'm worth the time and energy. I will be back!!! read more
