I've been eyeing this spot for a few months now and believed it would fill the pizza-shaped hole in my heart. The last few places I've had pizza were just NOT hitting the spot. Pizzeria Da Gloria is ABSOLUTELY the best pizza I've had in STL. We came for lunch and sat inside - it's a quaint little spot but there is a beautiful patio. We got a margherita pizza and a spring onion pesto pizza. The crust on this pizza was perfect - not soggy and had a great chew. That Spring Onion Pizza was so good so definitely try that before the season ends. For our sides, we got the mortadella skewers which was covered in a tangy, sweet sauce. I dipped a few of my slices in that sauce and it was great. We also got the caesar salad which was tossed really well and every bite was coated in dressing. We ended our meal with their basque cheesecake which I think may have been regular cheesecake? I was expecting the caramelized crust and a softer bite BUT it doesn't matter. We made the mistake thinking we could get a table on the hill Saturday night without a reservation. Due to us being on the wait list, we decided to stop in Pizzeria Da Gloria for a drink until our table was ready. We managed to snag a couple seats at the bar and were given water and menus rather quickly. My boyfriend got the Mango Mezcal and I got the Spring Sangria. The mango mezcal had a nice balance of tequila and other sweet flavors while having the tajin rim for additional spice. The sangria was unlike one I've had before as it had coconut rum and other flavors. It was different but in a good way. Unsure of how much longer we'd be waiting, we got an order of Fughuese. I'm sure I butchered the spelling but it's their bread and olive service. The bread was piping hot and the olive oil was fresh and pure. Of course, once we started eating our table was ready /9 we quickly settled and left. It was nice to finally come here even if we only got drinks. Pizzeria da Gloria was great! You can smell the pizza as you come around the corner. We sat on the patio and they had temp walls up to help protect against the cold, so we could still enjoy the sunshine while staying warm on a 50 degree evening. Our waitress was so nice and attentive and the food was good! We got a seasonal pesto pizza and mushroom pizza. The seasonal was okay, but the mushroom pizza was really good! We also got a salad and cheese board to start and both were good. The wine flight was cute and a great option for anyone wanting to try multiple wines. Pizzeria Da Gloria was opening about the same time that I was moving out of St. Louis. I moved across the river to Illinois, so it took me awhile to visit. Now I am embarrassed that it took me as long as it dit to experience their delicious pizzas. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The front dining room is small and charming like a European Cafe. In the back where the bar is located has the feel of a 1970's rathskeller. Both of them give off a comforting feeling. Our server for lunch was Zoe. She was friendly and very attentive. Since my friend had been here before she already knew what she wanted. Zoe was very patient with me as I took my time to select my pizza. I finally decided on a Italian Sausage with Jalapeños. My BFF went with her favorite, Bonci, which is a thinly sliced Eggplant pizza. We both went with the Salad and Pizza Lunch Special. As our salad, we both choose, Creamy Italian. It was a very flavorful salad. My only complaint is that the pieces of mixed greens and lettuce were on the big side. I wish they were chopped in smaller pieces, making it easier to jab with a fork. My friends and I met up for lunch the other day at Pizzeria Da Gloria and it was a great experience all around! We made a reservation just in case they were going to be busy and I am glad we did. When we arrived, they were packed and had a wait. It seems like this is a great place to be on a Friday afternoon. Parking was a mess, but I think we were all able to get a spot 2-3 blocks away so it wasn't too bad of a walk. Our server was really friendly and made sure we had water in our glasses at all times and offered other drinks from the menu. She gave us time to look over the menu and recommended the lunch specials. We each ordered a salad with a pizza as part of the lunch special. We each ordered the creamy Italian salad to start with and they were brought out pretty quickly. The salad was so good and it was a decent portion. When the pizzas came out, we were excited to eat and did some sharing sick we each ordered something different. My mushroom pizza was such a good choice. I also was excited to try the stracciatella pizza since my friend ordered that one and it was super tasty. Our server brought over some to go boxes since she knew we weren't going to be able to eat everything. She kindly split the check in 3 for us and gave us time to pack up and pay. The receipt has a QR code so that you can pay from the table instead of using a credit card/cash if you'd like to pay that way (which we did)! Pizzeria Da Gloria is one of my favorite if not my favorite pizza spot. I love the pepperoni pizza which includes jalapeno's and I always add mushrooms. The pizza has a crispy chewy crust and the perfect ratio of thinness to toppings, so you can taste every ingredient with each bite. I have also tried the eggplant pizza which is spicy and equally as good. We love their Caesar salad which has the perfect amount of dressing to salad ratio. The tanginess of the anchovy against the mounds of parmesan cheese and croutons is delectable. The pizzas are 12in and we usually order an additional side or two to compensate and we're fine. I've eaten inside and on the patio and both were enjoyable experiences. They have a nice seasonal cocktail menu and the bartender knows how to mix a good drink. My favorite is their blackberry margarita when you can catch it in season with a sugar rim, this cocktail is absolutely phenomenal! The wait staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions when deciding on trying something new. I usually try to catch one of the seasonal pizza specials as well. What a sweet little pizza shop discovery in The Hill! If you're in this area, you can probably anticipate that parking would be difficult to find, but it wasn't too bad for a Wednesday dinner. I made sure to make a reservation because this was highly recommended, and I'm sure glad I did. It's a busy and bustling place! Unusual for us to try a pizza place we've never been to before when we're on the Hill instead of one of our known favorites, but it was the MIL's birthday and she wanted pizza for dinner. This place had some good recommendations, so we tried it and weren't disappointed. Our server was a little bit slow and screwed up (maybe it was the back of the house, IDK) one of my two pizzas, but I was having a nice time and didn't feel the need to bring the mistake up even though I wouldn't eat the pizza, my wife and daughter would the next day. The pizzas are cooked in a wood burning oven and are fantastic. The crust is nice and chewy with just the right amount of crunch. They sell their dough balls to go for $5 as well! I had several pumpkin beers and completely forgot about the dough balls. Next time. The place is bigger than I thought it would be from the outside. There's a bar in the back in addition to the seating in the front. The kitchen is open so you can see the crew making the food. My wife and daughter enjoyed a salad which was easily big enough for two people to split. If you're in the mood for a good sit down pizza meal and don't want another Imo's style STL style pizza (I like them as much as the next guy, but variety is the spice of life and all that, right?) this is a great place to try. read more

I'm a huge fan of pumpkin anything, so when I saw that this place had a pumpkin vodka pizza, I jumped at the chance to try it. Keep in mind that I did carry out, so I can't really speak to the service, though the person who handed me my order was nice enough. It was also a pretty quick turnaround. Maybe 25 minutes at most, from ordering to getting the food. The pizza itself was very fresh, delicious, and pretty unique. The one criticism I would give, however, is on the side of sauce in the box. They should probably look at taping that container or keeping it separate, as I ended up with a garlic scented box, as the container spilled its contents while I was driving. Fortunately, my box of tissues and Blues magnet calendar took the bulk of the hit, but it was a bit messier than intended. So my husband and I were finally able to check out this gem of a pizzeria on the Hill last week. We absolutely loved it! The open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs prepare your food in real time. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Our server was patient with us as we tried to navigate through the menu with our nieces in tow. We had the sausage and mushroom pizza and the pepperoni with jalapeño. Both had perfectly executed crust, delicious sauce, and excellent amounts of toppings. The wood fired oven made the crust very delicious. We also had salads and wine. All was amazing. We will definitely be back to try some of their other offerings. Thanks guys for a great night. This place is adorable. From the iron fence outside to the kitschy and cozy inside it is adorable. We were immediately greeted by a hostess who was grabbing the proper among of menus as we walked in. It wasn't long before our amazing waitress came to bring water and ask if we wanted anything more to drink. She also explained the lunch special to us and allowed us ample time to look. Having never been here we of course had a few questions which were patiently and knowledgeably answered. My dining partner can be amazingly picky so I wanted to make sure we got something she would also enjoy and although we could not do half and half with a sausage pizza on one half and stracietella on the other, the waitress came up with an option that would come as close as possible which I was thrilled with (and might I add her recommendation was delicious). So we started with an amazingly huge and delicious Cesar salad. I find Cesar's can be hit and miss, either flavorless or too fishy... this one was perfectly balanced with flavor but not overly fishy. I enjoyed the salad very much! Being a mushroom lover I ordered the Lions Mane mushroom appetizer, and this truly was the only thing That I didn't care for. My dining partner didn't like anything about it, however I loved the texture of the mushrooms but it is extremely lemon heavy and I couldn't get past the taste. I like lemon but this tasted like it has 8-1O seriously potent lemons squeezed on it. I don't think it was a bad dish, just a taste issue. The waitress did say she wished I had told her, so it I hadn't eaten as much as I could before I couldn't stand it anymore, I do believe that despite this being what I ordered, I could have gotten the cheese garlic bread which lost the appetizer toss up lol. Now onto the pizza. The crust is delicious. It is wood fired and charred just enough on the edges but not so much as to give it a charred flavor. The cheese and sausage and pepperoni I ordered were all quality ingredients, fresh and absolutely delicious. I will be going back to try the mushroom pizza next which looked so good and was recommended by many including our waitress, but in the interest of not ordering too much food, we did the half and half. We were too full for dessert but were asked if we would like some and the desserts look and sound amazing! Overall, this was a stellar experience! The food of course was so good, and that was primary but all the staff were attentive and so friendly it felt like they were really glad to be there and to have us there. That definitely pushed my opinion of this restaurant to top tier level. read more

We have been looking forward to this place and it was okay but I wouldn't go back. Me walked in and the hostess was great. We sat in the dining room and waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone. We saw three different servers enter the dining room and no acknowledgement. It wasn't busy at all maybe 5 other tables. We went to the hostess stand and were told someone would be right over. Soon a server came over and she was nice but unapologetic that she ignored us for 20 minutes. A younger guy with longer hair came and slammed waters on our table. Once we ordered things got moving. The drinks were decent, no draft beer. And the food was underwhelming. The pizza had a good flavor but the crust was burnt and the style wasn't great and it was incredibly greasy. Similar to Sbarros in the mail. I wouldn't go back purely on the service. We also shared a Caesar salad and fall salad - both delicious and would get again! The Stracciatella Pizza was good but not my favorite, I think the idea and execution of the cold cheese on top of the pizza wasn't my vibe, but my friend absolutely loved it! LOVE the food here. The pizzas especially feel authentically Italian because there are only a handful of really high-quality ingredients done really well. I love the stracciatella pizza so much because it is perfect in its simplicity. That paired with a glass of white wine and the flourless chocolate tart to go? Perfection. Removed one star for the actual physical restaurant -- it's small and the acoustics are crazy so it just feels super loud in there (God, am I old!?) on a busy night.
