We have always seen this place and have always wanted to check them out ever since seeing quite a long line during pie day, but we never had the opportunity to until now. My husband and I stopped by here since we had some time before picking up our daughter from her tutoring session. The inside of the establishment is simple yet clean; there is a menu on the wall that shows what is being sold that day, and a display of some food item and drinks for sale. The gentleman who was at the register helped us out, kindly welcoming us, and explaining what the pies that were on sale that day and what ingredients they had in them. Since our daughter had some food allergies, we did ask if there were any tree nuts or peanuts in any of the pies. He truthfully told us that there were not tree nuts or peanuts in any of the pies, however in the past they have sold pies containing walnuts. He also mentioned that the pies contain nutmeg which technically isn't a nut, but he wanted to tell us anyway. We bought a caramel apple pie and a blueberry lemon hand pie during our visit. My husband loved the blueberry lemon hand pie, and everyone in the family loved the caramel apple pie :) Both are really delicious, with not one flavor being overpowering over the other; they both had a perfect balance of flavor. My first time visiting yesterday after a friend has been raving for months about this place. I got a slice of the Guava Haupia. As a baker and a Hawaiian, I gotta say... I'm impressed! The haupia had the right texture and delicate flavor, the guava was subtle with floral notes to complement the warmth of the coconut fat. Nice intimate shop and the owners are always super nice and friendly, wife asked for stickers and we were given some. Ordered the chicken bacon and it was so good. Service was great. The owner was very apologetic. We came at 1pm and all the whole pies were gone. Please not they on at 12pm on Sundays until 5pm or until sold out. It looks like it will be a sell out early kind of day. We came in and there was one person ahead of us. Lucky goose too the last whole pie so plan ahead. They are only open Friday - Sunday and menu items posted on their insta [pie.dreams] with their rotating menu. They do not update throughout the day about available items tho and no do not have a phone number it seems just an email contact info or dm their insta. Slices range between $7 - $8 and the whole pies I saw were $38 - $42 give them a try if you are in Newark. They took over the spot that formerly was starbread in the large Safeway plaza! read more

My husband picked up a rhubarb and a crumble pie from here for a potluck and we thought they were just okay and a bit on the sweet side. But a few months later, a friend got a matcha custard pie for her birthday and it turns out this is the one to go here for! Loved the flaky butter crust and creamy matcha. I'd go back for this pie ... it seems like they have a rotating menu which can be great for trying new pies but a bummer if one that you end up liking is seasonal. Pie Dreams has finally opened up a store front in Newark, replacing the old Star Bread. I've tried many of their pies and they are all delicious and very tasty! You have to follow them on IG to know what pies they have available, and they only open on the weekends. I've had the following pies: Salted Caramel Apple Hennessy Pecan Pie Strawberry and Mango Pie French Silk Pie All have been hand made to perfection, and my all time favorite is the French Silk Pie. It's so, so delicious! Highly recommend giving Pie Dreams a try if you haven't yet. The service is great, the shop owners kids run the front, while Ricky watches over them. I have been meaning to try pie dreams for the longest time. But it's hard to go since the opening days are just limited in a week and I heard they sell out fast too. I got lucky that there were some left over pies on a Sunday and I got to reserve some pies through dm'ing the shop through there Instagram stories. I tried the key lime, raspberry chocolate and apple pie. All the fillings were so good! My favorite part is the crust, it reminded me of a buttery croissant. This review is based on my first visit to the shop and my two selections. The small, clean shop is in a good location with lots of parking. The two kids (the owner's I presume) taking my order were delightful. An adult came out later (Mom?); she was very nice. The cherry hand pie was awesome - not too sweet, and an amazing crust! The fresh peach pie also was not too sweet. The crust was hard to cut through, but good. As previously mentioned, I didn't like pies...but these pies are soooo good. The crust is unbelievable and the variety of the fillings are yummy. It's a cute store front on Jarvis on weekends only. The owner and his lovely family work the store and are very customer oriented. You do need to read the website to see what is on the menu or make sure they are not closed for an event. I made that mistake once....but as I mentioned, the pies are so yummy. They are accommodating for special orders. I have to watch my waistline so I need avoid showing up weekly...but it's so good. After following Pie Dreams on social media for a long time, my husband was finally able to pick up a pie and it will unfortunately be the first and last time I try anything here. We had a whole pie of the blackberry peach which was decent, the filling was fresh and the crust had a good butter flavor. However the top crumble was still a bit gooey and the bottom crust was also a bit under cooked. I had a severe stomach ache after having a slice on two separate days. My husband's stomach was also upset. We may put it in the oven to bake more, but I don't think I'll be risking eating the rest of the pie. read more

My Pie Dream experiences are few and far between because it's so hard to get one! The Instagram ordering game is fierce, yo. And for good reason! Every time I have a slice after a long hiatus, I remember why it's SO WORTH the price, the competition on the website, the trip into Newark, etc... Most recently I had the strawberry matcha boba pie, which was so perfectly balanced. Usually for matcha products, it's too bitter, or the other flavors are overwhelming. Another challenge is that the boba can be overcooked and hard. But no honey, no, this boba was still unbelievably chewy, a feat which is beyond me, since even well-established boba spots have their off days. How do you bake a pie with boba whilst keeping its perfectly chewy consistency?! Pie Dreams has surely perfected the art of magic. Today my good friend brought over a savory pie (I think it was the carne asada). The crust was beyond flaky and buttery. And the filling was PACKED with big chunks of meat! No skimping on the meat here; it got girth. We are not at Marie Calendars. Last thing I'll say is that I don't know the owner, but I stalk I mean follow him on IG and he seems super humble, genuine, and hard-working. He will receive blessings tenfold because of the blessings he has bestowed upon us poor Bay Area foodies. Bless you, Mr. Pie Man. I'm super excited for the grand opening of the brick and mortar location! Hopefully these high-demand pies will be easier to get my chunky paws on. Best pies ever! My husband and I have been there a few times already! We had Blueberry Lemon and 3 Berries hand pies, slices of lemon cheese, caramel apple, key lime, all so delicious and not sweet at all! love their pie crust! Definitely filled our dessert cravings. Ricky and his sweet and savory pies are simply the best! The flavors of the pies, customer service where he remembers your name, just such a great experience! The regulars know to get there early before selections get sold out. Whenever I share these pies with friends and family, they've always been a hit. You can't go wrong with any of the pies, allergens are clearly labeled, and they're so delicious. The all butter crust is amazing and holds up great. Savory pie fillings are stuffed and tastes so good, and sweet pies are not too sweet. No fork needed, just pick them up with your hand and devour it. I am soooo excited right now! Hubby just picked up our DIY Apple Pie KIT from Pie Dreams! I cannot wait to make this delicious pie with my kids! The kit comes with all of the ingredients pre-measured not to mention the super cute wrapping! Along with the kit I have been emailed a YouTube video of Ricky teaching us how to make it! What I love most about this kit is that Ricky is not worried about losing business for sharing his secret recipe and instead is genuinely helping pie bring families together. I have ordered from Pie Dreams too many times to count. Tri tip chimichurri, cheeseburger, strawberry mango, pumpkin pie and his apple pie are all absolutely delicious. If I remember correctly, the savory pies come uncooked and packaged where you can freeze it (unless requested to have it baked) and the sweet pies come baked. My favorite thing about the pies are THE FLAKY CRUST and how flavorful they all are! COVID protocols are safe! You text when you arrive and he places it on the table for you if there is nobody else there at the same time. If someone else is there he has you wait in your car until everything is clear! Appreciated that all the pies had just the right amount of sweetness but not too sweet. Service was great! There was even a kid running the register. She must have been maybe 10 years old. This place is always so good. We have tried their delicious treats when they are sold at Devout Coffee. There's always a long line for these desserts. How can you resist a yummy sweet with a great cup of coffee? We've had the Pie Scream on Halloween. It was ice scream with some of their delicious pie in a cup. Our cousin picked up some of their mini pies (ube and strawberry matcha boba) at a December pop-up.
