We hired Pick Up Movers initially to move us from IL to GA. Pierre was initially very friendly and responsive. He gave us a reasonable quote as long as we agreed to a window of time to move. However, once we came close to that window, he refused to confirm a pick up date. As we pressed him, were beyond shocked to discover that they did not have a truck ready for us within the 3-day window. This was even though they took our deposit and sent us a contract. Given that we sold our home, we had to be out of there and make last minute arrangements with a different moving company - which was much more professional, responsive and punctual. This company refused to pick up our calls or return our messages. Stay away from this company. read more

AVOID AT ALL COST!! I choose Pick Up movers for a long haul from Maryland to Michigan. My point of contact was Pierre. At first it was fine. However the commuication between dispatch and driver was off for pick up. I had informed them prior to of a late pick however they called me during work . After some back and forth phone calls it was sorted out. This was July 7th. After pick up I request my stuff be delivered around the 20th to 23rd of July. I was not contacted by anyone around this date so I called and left a message. NO CALL BACK AT ALL. I called back 5 days later after leaving a aggressive voicemail All Pierre gave me was excuses about the Department of transportation... not the consumers problem and told me if you don't hear from me I don't know anything!! Where is this acceptable customer service??? when an email on update can clear that up. Did not call again for another week or so. I was told some one was going to call me about delivery the last week of July... NO CALL BACK. Finally week of August 6 had my mom call . Pierre informed her some one was going to call the 10th to 12th again NO CALL. Called and left another aggressive message and indicated I contacted a lawyer ( which I did) driver calls ....mmmm. Requested a manger at least three times during this ordeal, no response !! Yet still have not heard a word from Pierre. Avoidance??? Finally receive my belongings on August 14t. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Pick Up Movers has moved me twice. The first time they did a good job. However, the second time the movers showed up wearing flip flops and were highly unprofessional. They dropped an expensive armoire which broke into pieces and was literally thrown into the garbage. They also ripped the side of a leather couch. Unfortunately, I paid them cash before the move. After the move I spoke with Pierre and he gave me information on making a claim..What a joke. I made a claim and have never heard from anyone ever again. I have tried to call and email to no avail. Be very careful when using this company. If any problems arise you are out of luck. Pierre was very helpful before the move and then he was impossible to get in touch with. I called Pick Up Movers because of their rating on Thumbtack and I am so sorry that I chose this company. I spoke to Frank, who on first contact was nice and friendly, however once I signed the contract with them things went downhill. When I spoke to Frank the first time I asked him if their movers were familiar with moving Grandfather clocks since I knew that this was a fragile item to move. Frank assured me that yes indeed they were qualified to move such items. Well, the day came for the movers to arrive with a pick up time of mid morning so I took off of work to be there when they arrive. The time changed to pick up between 2-3, still no sign of the movers. Then I was given a time of 4-6pm, still no show. They finally arrived at 9;00pm that night, so I lost a day of work waiting for nothing! The 2 movers came into the condo to prepare the items for shipping that included a Grandfather clock, an antique secretary, a tea cart and sofa table with a glass top. The one person was left to wrap the items as the other one was taking care of the paperwork. After the items were wrapped, the one gentleman picked up the clock with a bear hug and broke the clock before it even left the house. I was extremely upset and never heard I'm sorry from either one. The clock was purchased by my Father (who had just passed away) and given to my Mother, who unfortunately has dementia and in a care facility as an anniversary gift and was always promised to my Daughter, their first Granddaughter who had moved to Florida. After unwrapping the clock to access the damage it was packed back up and taken to the moving truck. The items arrived in Florida only to find that they had also broken the top off of the secretary, so 2 of the 4 items were broken by them. Once delivered, they advised that in order to file a claim I of course had to pay the balance that was due. So the balance was paid and I filed a claim with CSI claims. I was told that they had 120 days to make a decision to either pay for the damage or decline. Today 10/18/2018 I received the claim decision, the move date was 08/29/2018. The claim decision was to reimburse $48.00 as a good faith payment! So now we have broken items that will not be able to be repaired with $48.00!! I not only lost a day of work, I paid them $1,551.00 to move the items and now with still not even as much as an I'm sorry and I only get $48.00!!! PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS MOVER, TAKE MY ADVISE AS WELL AS THE OTHERS THAT HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND HIRE SOMEONE ELSE. Our move involved a one bedroom move from Houston to San Antonio, TX. One of the first questions I was asked was if I wanted a "direct run"and I said YES! That didn't happen. Nothing was what they said. Move was supposed to be Saturday morning, they moved it to late Saturday night, then mid morning on Sunday!They said they had another pick up in Houston! And would be in San Antonio by 8 or 8:30 Sunday night! They tried to change our delivery time to Monday mid-morning! But I said no, we had to have it Sunday night! Our bill more than doubled as they charged us for everything, for instance, distance from apartment to elevator to the truck! Our salesman, David, told me they gave "flexibility" discounts (which we didn't agree to since I asked for a direct run and told them I needed our stuff Saturday afternoon/evening) which we didn't get! David also told me to call him anytime, that they wouldn't charge us for stairs, etc. When I called him on Sunday of the move because we couldn't contact movers? He told me it was Sunday and he was with his family and to call the dispatcher but wouldn't give me name or phone number for dispatcher! We offered to pay half when they picked up our stuff but they said just wait for delivery! They told us they would take a check but then would not take a check when they finally got to San Antonio at around 1:00 Monday morning They wanted CASH!!! We were able to Venmo the money but they would not unload truck until they were paid! And it took almost 3 hours to unload and set up! At this point we just wanted to be done with it! DO NOT HIRE THIS MOVING COMPANY!! Horrible service and they falsely advertise that they will get the job done fast and save you money because they charge by the hour. They arrived an hour late (not a big deal), they didn't have basic moving material like tape guns or box cutters... The concierge from the building that we were moving from, was watching them through the elevator camera and she called me concerned that we were not going to finish on time because these guys were taking one thing out at a time to load the truck and that they were not using their moving carts. My husband called Frank, who is the sales rep, to let him know what had happened and how unprofessional the movers were, he asked us to send him an email with the details, which we did. We sent photos of the movers on their phones texting and details of what had happened in chronological order. After receiving the email, he promised to refund only 1 hour and after two weeks, we never got the refund. The job was quoted to get done in 4hrs (which already seemed like an overkill and we had moved the same amount of things two years before with other movers that took 2 HOURS FROM ARRIVAL TO DEPARTURE) and the PICK UP MOVERS took 8 hours and they even wanted to bill us additional for things that we had already discussed with Frank (like charging us $50 dollars extra to wrap a large screen TV and $20 to bubble wrap a mirror, which they only used a square to cover the mirror and they didn't actually wrap the mirror to protect it, they also wanted to charge us $70 extra for a flight of stairs at the new place which we had already mentioned to Frank to get the estimate) to move a two bedroom apartment. When I called Frank this morning to ask for the refund, he put me on hold to talk to the operations department and said that NOW (after two weeks of already submitting a detailed complaint with photos and waiting for our refund,) we also had to fill out a claim form which they would send us in the mail. I told him that he was just wasting our time and that it was not worth the refund (which should have been at least 3 hours worth because of the inefficient and very slow movers). In my lifetime, I've moved over 15 times and I have NEVER experienced such a bad moving service. When I told Frank that I was going to write a bad review this morning, he said, "Well, thanks! Now I'm going to get removed," and then he hung up on me. I tried calling him again at the general customer service number but he kept hanging up on me every time it went through to his extension. Am I suppose to feel guilty about this company ripping us off? Not sure why he was expecting me not to write a bad review when everything that he said from the beginning was not true. Really upset about this experience. I felt like we were being extorted by this Company, so I want to make sure that this doesn't happen to other families that are on a fixed budget to move. read more

I wish I had done more research before hiring this company. I relied on the service website Thumbtack and their positive reviews, but instead I should have looked them up on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Do your due diligence before you sign with them. Our story is shared by many of the negative complaints. Their rep Frank greatly underestimated the number of items and cubic feet we had. Like others, I was pressured into quickly listing via phone all items in all rooms, even though I offered to share pictures of each and every room that would be more accurate. I have since learned this is their modus operandi -- provide a cheap quote that then must be revised upward due to more "pieces" or cubic feet used in the otherwise empty truck. Our overage turned out to be about 25% more than the original $4,200 estimate to move our household across state lines, and we feel fortunate it wasn't worse. Some reviews claim their unexpected overage doubled their quote. And heaven forbid, if you sign with them, read the contract thoroughly to know that while they will take a credit card for your deposit and 1st half balance after loading (w/ 4% transaction fee tacked on) they require CASH or postal money order only (which works like cash) for the 2nd half at unloading. We were pressured by Frank on the phone to pay both portions in cash, as he conveniently forgot about the credit card option for the first half. He was very belligerent. I have read multiple reviews where the company has held loaded items on the truck hostage until clients turn up with the cash, which of course leaves no paper trail. You just know they are cooking their books. Another issue for us was scheduling -- our two movers (who thank goodness were professional and terrific) didn't show up until 4:30 p.m. on the first day of packing. It was not their fault though -- Frank had jam packed their schedule so full they were just able to drive back from their previous job and make it to our place at 4:30. We were expecting them in the morning to pack the house, but instead only half the house was packed when they left at 10:45 p.m. The next day, they didn't arrive until 10:30 and because the rest of the house was still not packed, they were not finished until 9 p.m. And we had a five hour drive ahead of us. We received no accommodation or acknowledgement of this inconvenient schedule, and I had nothing in writing that said he workers would begin in the morning on day 1. If you do business with them get your schedule in writing, although I doubt it will make a difference. Regarding the late start Frank fed us a line of BS about a required 8-hour resting time per Dept of Transportation rules -- A complete lie, because they were driving and not resting, and we overheard conversations and confirmed the nearly non-stop job-to-job slog these poor workers are always sent on. And why would this be you might ask? Because these poor workers had just come to the U.S. from Russia and were sponsored by Frank (who is Russian, don't let his Americanized accent fool you) and the other Russians who run the company. (Read the other reviews about their Russian movers who didn't speak a lick of English.) Our poor movers seem to be treated like slave laborers who are forced to work for three weeks at a time without one day off. I wonder what kind of wages they are actually paid by the company. We tried to impart upon these young men that the work schedule they are forced to endure is not normal, and it seemed to come as a surprise to them. We tipped them well, as they handled our items with care. We feel quite fortunate that our two-man moving crew was professional in the way that Pick Up Movers management was not. read more

I cannot even comprehend that PickUp Movers got five star reviews on Thumbtack. The entire experience was a nightmare. While they were nice enough during the preliminary conversation about moving logistics, it quickly went downhill after their team of two arrived. If I didn't know any better, I would say that they picked these two guys off the street without any knowledge of moving family possessions. First of all, they arrived two days later than planned. I waited home for several hours each day waiting for them to arrive (in a house that was already packed and ready to go). They finally arrived on Saturday (around noon) and told me that they could complete the move the same day. I was skeptical but took them at their word. They worked late into the night on Saturday but did not finish. They came back Sunday (again close to mid day) and told me that for sure, the move would be completed. I had to leave the house because of all the damage that they had inflicted on the home that I had just sold. They did not bring hand trucks with pnuematic wheels so that everytime they had to bring something down from the upper levels of my townhome, they were slamming these wheels on my hardwood stairs, not to mention the significant damage that they created to the walls. Getting back to the move, they finally finished moving in the wee hours of Monday morning. The house was left in a mess with their debris from tape rolls, the material that they used to wrap furniture, and boxes that they decided not to use. It took me half the day on Monday to clean up after them. It was the worst move ever, but I was happy that they were gone and I could now get my house ready for walk through. $800 in damage was inflicted on my home that was move in ready. Thankfully, my real estate agent came to the rescue and was able to save the day. Her comment to me is that this was the worst move she had ever seen. Of course then she told me that she wished that I had asked her about professional movers that could have completed the job without damaging the house. I will now get to the most disturbing part. I should explain that I am a musician, and I was entrusting them to move my Steinway Baby Grand Piano as well as my Mittenvald Double Bass Violin. While I had talked to Frank about moving my instruments, he told me not to worry. His movers had experience in moving delicate objects. When I asked them when the others would arrive to pack the Baby Grand Piano, the movers told me that they could do it with just two. WARNIING - it takes more than two people to remove the legs of a Baby Grand Piano (and without a paino board - it is almost impossible). I left the house as I could not bear to watch. Somehow, they were able to cobble together pieces of cardboard to support the piano while they removed the legs. I do not reccomend that anyone should allow two men to move a piano. But my worst disappointment was during the transport from Maryland to Florida, they must have dropped my prized double bass violin that caused $2,200 in damage. The Violin repair shop told me that all of this damage was recent and caused by either dropping the instrument or some other mishandling. Frank (the guy from pickup movers) had the audacity to call the Violin shop and tell the repairman (that has been in business for more than 40 years) that he does not know what he is talking about. Frank is not only a moving expert, but apparently is also a specialist in Bass Violin repair (NOT). They also packed framed art in boxes that were not appropriate for framed art (some limited editions, some family portraits), but the glass was shattered into a million pieces. The crew that re-delivered my belongings to Florida could not believe that the mover crew in Maryland had done such a poor job of packing. Needless to say, I would not reccoment Pickup movers to move anything, and if you do, well - you've been forwarned. It would be great if I could post some pictures. First, Karina was a delight to talk with and she made setting up the moving appointment easy. Since our move was local and we weren't in a hurry, we had moved most of our boxes and small items ourselves and just had Pick Up Movers take the big furniture down our tiny apartment stairs and to the new place. This was the best way to do business-- they arrived early, had no trouble moving our furniture. Not a thing was broken. They were fast and careful. Somehow, the couch it took us an hour to get up to our apartment years ago was only a ten-minute project for them... their response was, "We know what we're doing!" Very funny. Pick up Movers are awesome!!!! All three movers were very careful with my belongings. From the minute they showed up they had a plan and got to work. We experienced some elevator issues at both apartment complexes, but the men remained professional and worked around the problem until it was resolved. I never would've guessed my larger furniture would be so heavy/tricky to navigate, but the men did a great job and I was completely comfortable with how they completed the moving process. My sister contacted Pick Up Mover though the internet and we did not have time to read the reviews or check out other moving companies. After talking to Pierre and being charmed by his attentive skills we decided to book the job with them. It was a move from an apartment to a storage facility, with very heavy and delicate furniture. The guys did and excellent job! However I recommend being present during the move as you are paying by the hour time is money. We finished late at night and some things were not able to make it to the truck because of the buildings time restrictions therefore I called Pierre and asked for another service the following day. All of our telephone conversations had been superb and he even helped us find a storage facility and responded quickly. However this time when we were planning the second day its was moving a few items and dismantling a huge media stand. I sent him the picture and he said it will only be a couple hundred dollars and the pieces that were left I had already payed the previos day. The guys were extremely slow and one did not speak a word of english and I ended up Paying $780 dollars. WHAT A SURPRISE. Please be aware of hidden fees, I recommend buying your own packing material and don't fall for the blanket stunt. You have to be on your toes with this guys because they will try to rip you off If you are not aware. At the end you will not be able to fight it and you will end up paying. Because you do see the hard work the moving guys do and it is not their fault managing behaves that way. And at the end they wont answer your calls and the driver has no say on pricing. At one moment I told Pierre I had a lot of people doing moves and I would gladly refer his company if we worked smoothly together. He did not believe me and took it as an insult and changed his tone completely. Regardless of him the guys did and excellent Job and my friend did call yesterday to book a moving. Long post but if you are considering this company, worth the read. I read all the reviews prior to booking, both positive and negative, and chalked the negatives up to just being unlucky. Unfortunately, not the case. I normally don't write reviews however this was one of the most unprofessional businesses I have ever dealt with. I'm sure the company's response to this will find a way to blame me, as they do with all their bad reviews, but I think there are a couple salient points to note. Overall there is a huge lack of communication and transparency and a very questionable business model. 1) Fine print on paperwork (that you don't see beforehand/they only give you at pick up) SCREWS the customer. Ask for copies of all paperwork before deciding to book. Quoted from the paperwork: "Generally, estimated delivery is up to 21 (twenty one) business days from date indicated as first available for delivery. Any verbal promises made regarding delivery or pick up dates and times are mere estimates. We guarantee delivery to take place within 30 business day of the date of first available for delivery (time calculations exclude days in storage)." ie. the verbal 10 days Frank says and generally really anything he says isn't true, 21 days is the actual estimate and 30 business days is "guaranteed" but since you can't control how long they keep your stuff in storage, there is actually no stated end time period for your delivery i.e .they never have to give it to you, compensate you for missing the delivery window, etc. Pick Up must contract with some other company because they have no control or knowledge about your drivers, stuff's location, or anything else. They refer to some mysterious "dispatch" at all times controlling everything. 2) Estimate does not include all charges- there are up-charges at pickup/delivery for distances from house to truck, boxes (even if you specifically ask for them to be included by sending pictures, dimensions, weight etc of what you want them to pack), stairs, elevators, etc . If you do end up using them- 3) Pay via credit card for 1st 50% even with 3% up-charge/service fee so you have some recourse should you need. Otherwise you are screwed because last 50% payment must be cash or money order. Don't expect to be given any compensation for their screwups. 4) There is barely any communication from the the company at any point. Be proactive and call/email them. I would recommend maintaining proof of all your attempts to contact, conversations etc to have a paper trail. After pickup, If they are delayed and/or at fault, all the limited communication you even have stops. No response to the dispatch email, drivers block your number and Frank will pick up the phone but hedge and refuses to give any info or contact info for who you should talk to. You get sent running in circles between him, the driver and emailing "dispatch". The real problem with this company is Frank and the mysterious "dispatch". The Frank that you get to speak to when considering the company/booking gets 4/5 stars for his friendly demeanor, willingness to work with you and make you feel like this is a very personal move. The impression he gives is that you will be picked up at the beginning of your 3 day pick up window and your route is so common that you will be delivered sooner rather than later. He also constantly mentions a 10 day delivery window VERBALLY (which when you read the contract doesn't mean anything/isn't binding). The Frank that customers get after signing a contract is more gruff, less willing to be on the phone and explain things. The Frank that you get after your things are picked up and you're stuck in limbo is a 1 out of 5 stars. He becomes completely "my way or highway", whatever he said goes. He wont listen to you, wont let you a get a word in and wont even be able to tell you where your items are located at any point in time. All the while he says that he is giving you facts. LOL So, not only did I (or apparently he) never know where my things were, his mysterious "dispatch" sets routes basically every night before for the next day and so you'll never know what going on. Everything is dependent on other people's moves, which I understand. However for them to not even be willing/able to tell me where my things are or a tentative expected delivery, even based on when it was not going to be, is ridiculous. Its truly a cross your fingers and hope it'll arrive one day business model. So yes they picked it up and yes they dropped it off ....eventually, with no apology or compensation and after much frustration. Update- waited until my claim for compensation was completed to post this and LOL i got $18.00 back from my $1500 with over $800 worth of damage. read more

Don't use!! Pic Up Movers is a deceitful company with very poor customer service!! I recently used them to move my daughter from Florida to Pennsylvania. The quote they gave me sounded unreasonable and they came across at first to be very personable and professional. My biggest concern was that I specifically needed delivery on July 10th or 11th. The reason being is my daughter is a physician with a demanding and unflexible work schedule. They said they understood and assured me that they could accommodate this and that it would not be a problem. However, once they got their down payment and had control of her belongings it all changed! I booked them 18 weeks in advanced and they led me to believe that a driver and crew would be available. But apparently they didn't because it ended up being 19 days past the promised date to finally be delivered! How can you book a contract with a customer and not have the crew to deliver it?? Its unacceptable! What was even more frustrating is that during the delay time they never contacted me and explained what was going on. I called and e-mailed them repeatedly, but it took days for them to respond back.(They responded back when i canceled the credit card payment) When I finally got a response the only thing they did was remind me that the contract states it could take up to 14 days. They offered no apology and gave me no reason for the delay. Clearly they didn't care about my daughter's situation or what they committed to prior to beginning the job. What's amazing is that their website claims that their "number one goal is customer care"! Number one huh? Not even close! I was obviously being put off and forgotten. Finally, on July 26th they contacted me giving me a delivery date of July 28th But guess what.. that didn't happen either. They notified me that they had mechanical problems with their truck and hoped to be there by tomorrow. After rearranging our schedules to be there that day I was beyond frustrated!! It didn't come till July 29th late afternoon.. When they finally arrived the crew unloaded the truck and that's it!! They did reassemble some of the ( I helped put the bed together,they didn't even have a drill!!) furniture that the loading crew disassembled. Furthermore, they requested additional($75.00) for more intside steps which I eventually demanded to be refunded because it was already included in the overall price. Several pieces of her furniture were scratched and water damaged. Her jewelry Armour was completely ruined!! They expressed very little concern with no apology!! Kyle from Sales & Customer Support worked with me on upfront estimation, transparent pricing and there were no hidden charges or surprises. The pickup as well as delivery teams conducted professionally well and handled all my household stuff with good care. They brought enough blankets to cover mattress, bed and sofas and there was no damage to any of them on delivery. Avoid Pick Up Movers! They showed up 6 hours late, having made the decision to ignore my pick-up time in lieu of making another stop first. I had specifically asked for English speaking movers. Instead, two Russian speaking movers showed up. One spoke a little English while the other knew no English at all. When they first got there, it took an hour for them to situate the rear lift, which I had to pay for. My landlady tried to explain that the driveway was new and the lift was scratching it everytime they dropped it. I had to finally solve the problem by putting a moving blanket under it. After the argument with my landlady, the non-English mover made fun of her and laughed at her which was bad because that could have resulted in my losing more of my security payment. They packed up and finished at 10 pm. They picked up the last remaining things and put them in boxes marked on their manifest. One box I paid for had a shipping blanket in it! They failed to bring the 5 picture/TV boxes that I paid for, instead used a makeshift set of boxes to protect those things. Because of the lateness of the move, I had to stay in a hotel for the night and drive to my destination the next day after cleaning the old house. I was delayed for one hour because of bad weather. They called me and I said, go have some dinner and I'll be there. I got there and they were waiting for me. However, it was raining too hard to move (quit 5 minutes after they left). So, at that time they decided to go get dinner and I was dinged for another hour that I had to pay for or they wouldn't offload the furniture. They brought my things up but failed to reassemble the TVs saying they were 2 hours late with someone else's shipment. I asked about the fact that they were 6 hours late with me and they just shrugged. For a week I asked the company to have them come back out and reassemble the TVs. They said they'd send me a check for $75 to have someone else do it. Needless to say, I still haven't received the check. I'm surprised Thumbtack would have these guys on their listing. It brings into question all of Thumbtack's contractors. I wouldn't hire Pick Up Movers if they were the last movers on earth. You shouldn't either. read more

This is my second time using pick up movers. Let me tell you: don't ever use any other company but this one if you're moving. I have been ripped off by so many movers, had my belongings held hostage for a higher price... You name it it has happened to me. Then I found Pick Up Movers. They are honest, and they give you very accurate quotes, they send the nicest and best people to help you with your belongings and they do a lot more than just move your furniture. They listen to what you need and they deliver. They are honest, trustworthy, hard-working and truly just so friendly and nice. That makes a big difference on a stressful moving day! Whatever you need, they deliver. I had two very hard-working young man yesterday who seriously rocked it out with some extraordinarily heavy furniture. I could not have been happier with how they handled all the challenges of getting my furniture up two flights of stairs and into my apartment. Pierre was the man! From the get go he told me a price and it didn't go a penny over. It's hard to find a man of his word but Pierre is one of those hard to find people so look no further! The movers were quick and worked hard, it took them no time to have my whole house moved. Nothing was damaged, they were very polite and worked around my needs. A1 service absolutely incredible. With prices so low I have no idea how they are still in business. I will be recommending this company to everyone I know. Wish I can give it 3 1/2 I will say ok bc we agreed on a price it was 1 hour more then we thought it was was giving a discount which was really good so tht was no problem there! But my massive problem I have is! I have in industrial machine they started takin it apart without telling me they broke a piece on my machine and a screw is hanging out and a piece in tht area is messing as well they only put one bed back together not my other one I had also I'm very upset about my machine if anything so if u have a machine u use make sure to tell them what they can touch on it or not and I had to put it back together myself also very upset about tht and I noticed tht after they lefted also u no moving ur thing is insane! I had a horrible experience with this company and I would not recommend. Zero stars would be most appropriate. Communication was horrible once my belongings were picked up. I had no idea where my things were being stored although I asked several times. They attempted to deliver before I moved into my place and it was very difficult to get a clear timeline in terms of when my things would be delivered. First, I was told that the truck that was delivering my things broke down in route and needed to be fixed. I had to continually follow up regarding status updates and the dispatcher, Max Lohov was very slow to follow up with me. I was told that my belongings were being stored in GA and that they would be picked up on Monday/Tuesday. This was a lie because when the drivers arrived SATURDAY night at 8PM they said they drove from FLA. I moved into my place on October 19th and did not receive my belongings until October 31st after calling and texting nearly every day to inquire about delivery. What made this whole ordeal worse is that when the drivers arrived they demanded to be paid before they unloaded the truck. They also said it would be an extra $150 because I moved into a third floor apartment. I reviewed the moving estimate that I signed off on and agreed to. It made no mention of payment upon delivery and when I spoke with Mr. Lohov to arrange the pick up I previously indicated that I was moving into a 3rd floor apartment. I explained this to Mr. Lohov and he insulted me. Mr. Lohov, the dispatcher for Pickup Movers, LLC. then instructs the drivers to leave and tells me that I will have to pay a redelivery fee. This has been the worst moving experience ever! From the poor communication and very the sketchy business practices, I'd recommend that no one uses this company! My initial quote was $1800 when the move was said and done I ended up paying about $3200. They did offer a small discount (maybe $100 off) due to the poor communication and inconvenience upon my request, which is a clear indication and acknowledgment of POOR Service. Never again! It's unacceptable to insult a customer. It's unacceptable to not return phone calls and communicate. There was even an occasion that I called and Mr. Lohov acted like I had the wrong number ! I originally hired Pick Up Movers LLC off of the thumbtack app for my move from North Carolina to Florida. I was put in contact with Pierre regarding my move, he gave me the estimate, and told me that my expected delivery could be anywhere between 3-7 days on average, even telling me it could be delivered within two days. Not at any time was I informed verbally of their 21-day delivery window. The movers came on the 24th and pick up went fine, and Mariel and his colleague were great. Pierre told me to ask the movers whether they were going up the coast to collect others belongings or down the coast to Florida so I get a clearer idea of when my belongings would arrive, and the foreman he told me that it is heading for Florida paid and signed, and my furniture was on its way. My move in date was June 26th, and I arrived on that date in preparation for my belongings to arrive within the week, or early next week. On June 28th, I reached out to Pierre to see about the location of my belongings and got the run around for days. I was especially worried since I was told the next stop was Florida, and that there weren't any other stops. I was told once again that he would check and keep me updated. This would have concerned anyone at this point since there has been no direct answer as to the location of my belongings. I was then told that now the window changed from 3-10 business days. Not at any point verbally was I told that only business days were recognized; they picked my stuff up on a Sunday. At this point I have made multiple calls to the office, and left 3 voicemails over the course of this whole waiting process, to not have anybody pick up the phone let alone return my voicemails. My parents were also hung up on by employees. This was a serious problem at this point. Since I had no way of reaching anybody, I physically had to go down to the office headquarters to get information. Of course at this point my family and I are unhappy and extremely frustrated with the lack of customer service and how business is being conducted. I demanded to know where my furniture is, explain what I was told about the delivery date, and when my stuff is going to be delivered. They gave me the run around about where my belongings were, and flaunted the contract in my face stating that the window is up to 21 days not including weekends or holidays, and did not care about what I was verbally told regarding the delivery date initially. Turns out my belongings were in some storage unit in Georgia and it got there on the 24th and had been sitting there for a week and the company was trying to be slick and refrain from telling me this. I was then told that my stuff would be delivered by Friday or at the latest, Monday (which did not happen). They knew the whole time and didn't care to be transparent. Any person in this situation would be angry. I guess they were threatened by me or didn't care for what I had to say because they decided to call the police on me while I was waiting for the contract and everything I signed to be printed. I didn't think this was racially motivated at all at first, I just thought that they didn't know how to handle customers, but that quickly changed. Since multiple people that I have talked to about the situation are protecting this man, I will have to describe him. He has olive skin tone, hair cut very short, no beard, around 5'10", and gritty bottom teeth. He called 911 saying that I was yelling and screaming in the office. Not once did I physically do anything or legitimately scream. While in the actual situation I was frustrated and concerned customer dealing with the shady business that a company was trying to pull on me, but I guess all they saw was my color. The man told me that he was "sick of this shit" and kept telling me to get out of the office even though I was waiting on the woman in the office to print out all documents pertaining to my order. I didn't want to step outside not only because of my heat sensitivity, but also because I wanted to make sure that there were no attempts at altering the documents I originally signed. It wasn't like I was standing in their office for no reason, I was simply waiting for my documents. As the woman is printing out my documents, the man gets up from his seat, is less than an arms length away from me and slams open the door and starts yelling at me to get out. He was yelling at me in another language and the only word he was saying in English was BLACK with such disgust in his face and tone. This man legitimately looked like he was going to hit me, so I called the police as well since it was now a safety issue. I even told him he looked like he was going to hit me. I legitimately cried in the car because not only was I thought a man was going to physically hurt me, but that I was racially discriminated against, citing my BLACKNESS. . We gave the company an opportunity to right this by knocking down the price, but all they care about is money. read more

Two years ago I used them for my move. I would have given them about 4 stars then. So, when I decided to move this year, my first call was to Pick Up movers. I was very disappointed this time. My belongings were delivered 2 weeks past their deadline, and almost everything was damaged. Communication was very good the first time. This time, it was almost non-existent. Pick Up Movers are great and provided with good Moving Service from the time truck driver and helper picked up to delivering the move. Guys kept me updated and infomred me at least 30 mins before reaching location so that I can pay them the full and final balance amount, before delivering the goods. Keep it up, just see how more better you can get the services to next level for your future. While I can give 5 Stars, but only 4 as there was small issue with arrival and last min communication delays before pickup. The moving guys were very good. The reason I gave only 2 stars -- when the movers arrived the contract i was given to sign had the following 1. The company has only 0.60 cents per pound of liability. If you have an item valued at $300 but weighs 5 lbs, any damage they cause you are reimbursed $3.00 (0.60 cents times 5 lbs). -- there maybe insurance, the only problem is the salesperson I spoke to when I scheduled the movers never mentioned this to me and the moving guys don't have this information to allow you to choose insurance. --if you don't sign then they don't move you. I called the guy who scheduled the move and got a voicemail in which I left a message explaining the situation but never got a response. My move was a Saturday so he was probably off but he never returned my call, not even on Monday. It is Thursday and still no return call. A return call would have gone a long way for service recovery and possible future referrals to this company. -- The dilemma is when you plan to move you may have taken time off from work and scheduled other things around this move and/or have to be out of your present location that day so you have no choice. we took the chance and allowed them to move us --signing the form. -- we were lucky the guys did a good job and took care not to damage anything. But i was disappointed that i was never given the option for insurance to protect my property against potential damage and then presented with a contract on the day of the move, that if I did not sign they would not move me. Again the guy in charge the day of my move was very nice. He just was unable to provide me any information other than where I had to sign if i wanted to have the move done. -- unfortunately i will not use or recommend these movers. -- again the actual moving guys did a good job, it is the sales or representative that is at fault for not providing the information I would be given in the actual contract, I would have to sign on the day of the move, prior to me paying the deposit when I scheduled. --oh one more item. I was emailed a form to complete for my credit card information, which I did not sign since I paid the deposit over the phone. When I called backed a few days before the move to questioned what method of payment they wanted, I was informed that if I use American Express there would be a 5% fee added and Visa payment I would incur a 3% fee. Pick Up Movers did a great job with my move! Pierre was very professional and courteous as well as very accessible. The company went above and beyond in order to accommodate me and my family. We had to reschedule our move a few times due to the fact that my wife is pregnant and she has a broken leg which made moving tough. Despite the difficult circumstances, Pick Up Movers worked with us and made our move smooth. SCAM I was quoted an amount based on number of boxes and guaranteed the price wouldn't change if my stuff was in the ballpark (I had two extra boxes). At the time of pickup, they claimed the "cubic feet" quoted was 200 and I was using something like 320. First of all I didn't quote based on cubic feet. Secondly, even if an additional charge was needed, I should have been informed BEFORE everything was loaded - not after. After loading everything they tried to stick me with a ridiculous $600 increase. I called the Dispatch Manager and after a lot of back and forth, he agreed to not charge the additional amount as long as I paid 50% up front. I did this. They obviously realized once they got to delivery location, they could hold my stuff ransom. Which is exactly what they did. When they delivered, the manager had conveniently forgotten the whole conversation and tried to get the additional $600. I tried calling these guys to work it out but nobody answered for hours. Meanwhile, the moving guys got tired of waiting and picked up and left. And then I got a notice from Pickup Movers that not only did I have to pay the extra $600 that was never agreed to, but in addition I had to pay storage fees and re-delivery fees! All of this is not even considering the fact that they missed pick-up schedule three times and delivery schedule once. They were overall two weeks late with delivery and caused me countless problems before even going into the money scam issues. I was patient with all the issues with scheduling even though it caused me a lot of problems. And the reward I got was an additional $1,300 price tag (more than twice the original quote). Amazingly, they will get away with it because they are holding my valuables hostage. Unbelievable! read more

FLASH! FLASH! FLASH! A Company TO AVOID at all cost! Though Pierre is kind and good in what he is doing, (for exemple he was able to estimate my load to be moved quite accurately), the rest of the men working are certainly not high quality. No professionalism, no respect of any kind! After packing and moving almost some 180 boxes, very few of them were numbered or identified. Needless to say how difficult it still is, after 3 months, to find anything that we need in the boxes unless we unpack and open all of the boxes. Clear exemples: shoes were found crushed under clothes, lamps between towels, crucial parts of a bed are in a couple of boxes the rest is nowhere to be found... canned food packed in the trash bin, clothes that were arranged together in an organized closet are found separated, mixed in non identified boxes, pillows are used as cushion instead of bubble wrap, etc... what a disappointment! I am the responsible party that signed the contract , I had requested a minimum moving package & did not authorized any other services. I was told by Pierre that 1500 would be the cost with no hidden fees or charges. I would pay 150 $ as deposit , $675 at pick up & $675 at delivery. I advised him that I am helping my ill family come to California to receive treatment, they will not be responsible & I was to be the person making all decisions. The movers were to arrived at 3pm & they arrived until 8pm. They took 7hours to load the truck. At 3am est, they advised me via phone that due to unforeseen circumstances the deposit would increase to $ 2000. Once the truck was loaded. I at that point attempt to call Pierre but no answer . Drivers advised me to call him in the morning & they will except a chk for $750. I then agreed to the smaller amount. The next day Pierre advised me that the boxes were not a medium size, when originally we never discussed the size. I also was told that we requested a full premium moving package, which was not true. I attempted to resolve the matter but I feel hopeless & I offered to pay them an amount of 2300 but they declined my request. I paid them the full amount they requested 4233.87 triple of what the original estimate. It took over 20 days but we got our stuff back! Do not deal with this company!!! read more

Price was great gave honestly was a bit nervous but he assured me I would have the best service ever and he was right!! Dmitry, Denys and Eugh P (excuse my spelling) were excellent they moved fast and didn't damaged ANYTHING at all very respectful guys. Once at my new home they put together everything and placed it where we wanted it. They had the best attitudes I've ever seen from movers. They took a lot of pride in what they did. I can say booking with Pierre made this move super easy for me and my family. It sounded too good to be true but EVERYTHING Pierre told me was 100% correct. These guys were great. I was doing a local move, and three companies gave me an expensive quote of over $1,000 for a 3bed/2bath ranch style house. This company was much cheaper, and great with communication from the beginning. Three polite, fast guys showed up on time and moved my whole house carefully.
