Very relaxing setting to have a self serve parts store - you can smell the ocean air and view a lot of nature and trees in the surrounding areas. Also, there are lots of cats in the yard - that can be an amenity if you like four legged furry friends. TDI jetta and a B4 Passat wagon... a w123 - all good stuff and very hard to find. Grabbed some bits and pieces for the cars - and even my w210. Went before all the recent rain - thats really the thing to do especially if you want interior parts. Let me tell you the cars on the yard can get funky real fast if they have wet interiors. Its not for the faint of heart. Roll up your sleeves, have some decent shoes your not too concerned about and bring more tools than you think you will need. Professionals have their pack out on wheels. I'm not to that level (yet). I enjoy tinkering with cars and its a good hobby I suppose. I don't know - free time becomes less and less... And Mr Moose is getting needy for attention. Prices can get a little steep. If its a small part where shipping isn't such an issue check ebay first - especially if your comfortable with taking the part off already. Overall better selection than bay area yards - worth the drive. If you have big ticket items maybe wait for a half off day. read more

I just sold my vehicle to pick and pull.. I didn't really feel good about it, but when the driver came, he was so knowledgeable. He got the car out less than 10 minutes. It was so awesome. What a joke this place is. I called them about selling my vehicle and was quoted $500 for it. Went in to turn in my paperwork and the lady at the desk ignored me until I finally got her attention. She then told me they would only pay $200. I left and called back the next day to be told I would get $500 after all. Went back in and turned in my paperwork and left them with the pink and scheduled a pick up time. The pickup time came and went and no one showed up. I called the next day and they told me they didn't know when or if it would be picked up. What??? They could give me zero answers. So now they have my pink and I have no idea when or if I will get paid for my vehicle or even if they will ever pick it up. This place has no idea what is going on. They need better employees who actually care. Update: now I'm being told that they never even cut me a check and they lost my paperwork and pink. The moss landing office has no idea what they are doing. I'm not typically one to say someone should be fired but clearly these people in the moss landing office should be fired so they can bring in someone who actually follows though on the paperwork. FRICKING AWESOME!! It was worth the drive to go to this junkyard. After a hit and run driver had taken off my passenger side mirror, i called the stealership for prices. It was $200 plus a week wait. Ebray wanted $129 plus shipping for a knockoff from chinnieland. I checked the pickhpull website and found my mirror in Moss Landing. A little bit of a drive on a sunny Sunday morning got me my mirror for $21.27 plus $2.00 admission. The employess were very friendly and almost no lines or waiting. Found my vehicle quickly and we removed the mirror without any problems. On the way back i stopped at a local produce stand and bought a lot of fruit for very cheap also. My wife wanted to sell our car to pick & Pull, a 2016 Subaru Forester with 140, 000 miles that a large pine had fallen on the hood, windshield, passenger's door side, and both exterior mirrors broken off, engine starts, everything from the dashboard to the rear door works. It is not street legal and now uninsured, but I have all of the paperwork along with anew catalytic converter installed last year under the Subaru warranty So my complaint about the Moss Landing/ CASTROVILLE pick and pull is when I called at 9am, I was told a my phone number would be my tracking number and given a quote of $334 dollars for the car as is, but I didn't have the vin# handy so I was told to call back, which I did 10:45 am with the vin# and got a recording , so I give them the Vin# and my call back number which is the tracking pick & pull number. Okay so am waiting for them to call back and decided to call early so they can pick up the car and take it, I called them back again and I am told they have no record of our phone conversation yesterday or my tracking number, so I get transferred to another department and the person sounds like she is underwater, so they transferred me to another lady and again this time her voice was very faint and garbled, thinking it was my phone reception, I hung up, and called again thinking the problem was on my side, this time the person was rude and unapologetic for not having my reference phone number or anything from our phone conversation yesterday, Their reviews are excellent but none with Hispanic names so I wonder : Anyone else having this type of problem with their customer service manners??? read more

If I can give this place zero stars I would. We had an appointment for someone to come and remove a car from our premises. The man who came was very rude and passive aggressive, was talking to my mom like she was stupid, told us a time frame but didn't let us know when he was on his way. We had trouble starting the car because it was sitting there for a while. He got upset that it wasn't ready which I understand. He told us to let him know when it was ready, left and never came back. We tried calling him and the business plenty of times but no one answered. Unfortunately, we didn't get the name of the guy who came to my house. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

So, apparently this yard used to be called Lopez Auto Dismantler's Junkyard in the not-so-distant past. Then, Pick & Pull bought it out. They should've passed and left it the old junkyard, because this place is exactly that--a heap of junk. Out in a rural wildlife area. Putrid cow manure smell wafting throughout the property from nearby farms-pastures. Even piss-poor sites like the Oakland & Richmond, CA & Sparks, NV Pick and Pull's are better than this one. Worthless, rust-bucket car shells, picked clean! Most that should've went to scrap or melt-down years ago. Do they even get "new inventory" here? Hmmm. Poorly marked inventory rows. Only find was my buddy settled on a pair of old armrests for a truck. These should not have been more than $5/ a piece in their gross condition. But they asked $20. So, not a great bargain for these junk parts either. Site sneaks up on you and is kinda hard to see from the main road (Dolan). Especially if you're unfamiliar with the area. The most successful Pick and Pull's have a system of purging worthless cars and replacing them with fresh inventory regularly, which this location doesn't accomplish. Only saving star was the lot has plenty of free parking, a taco truck on-site, a cooler marine-coastal climate favorable to sweaty pull sessions...and we had a fairly friendly cashier. Other than that, our 4-hr. trip there & back was a complete bust. Drats! read more

I have to agree with the price increase to get in. It's not like the cars have gotten any better. The worst part is the way you check in or out. Usually there is only 1 person to handle this. So you have to wait for the person who is trying to haggle the price down for 5 minutes just to say they don't want the part they just picked. And your standing there trying to just get in the place. People start stacking up to get in and out. And everybody thinks they are next. As far as the customer service, they cater to Spanish speaking people. One time a guy in front of me asked for a discount and got it. Right behind him was me. So I asked for a discount and he said no. Why? Because I didn't ask in Spanish? Just because I don't speak it doesn't mean I don't understand what your saying. Still no discount. What an a$$. As far as the other customers, be careful if you are non-Hispanic. A lot of times they look at me as if they want to kill me. I don't understand why people like to bust headlights, windows and destroy good parts. So look out for the guy handing only 1 tool in his hand. Most guys are rude and walk right up to the front and cut in line. Yesterday I waited for a guy who was tring to reduce the price of stop light bulbs. Really? You just spent 2 bucks to get in and get used stop light bulbs? Idiot. As far as the cars, it's hit and miss. After all this is Moss Landing not a major city. I wouldn't expect to get parts for my 72 Plymouth. Good luck parts finding. It's a mixed bag. Competition has been eliminated, and monopolies are never good for consumers. Increased pricing, mandatory admission fee of $2 per person (no longer applied towards the purchase), moody personnel, inconsistent policies regarding the permissible tools inside the lot (without regard to reality or professional standards and practices). Lethargic pacing of the administrative process and uneven customer service are what you can expect at this pick-n-pull. Driving a long way to spend your time and effort on a 33% chance that you'll get exactly what you need in just one visit - even if you've verified that the vehicle you require is present in the current inventory. Beware the traffic!! The killer is the turn at Dolan Rd and Highway 1. Drivers MUST be extremely cautious turning left - in or out of Dolan Rd onto the brisk highway. Its the worst highway intersection in Monterey County! ( The second most deadly is the new Pick n Pull on Spence Rd at Northbound Highway 101, south of Salinas, before Chualar.) Pick-n-pull Is not all bad, but its often bad enough. Don't expect you will get what you need for less time and cost, overall. It is a possibility, and perhaps, a fair bet, if you learn the ins and outs of this rough trade. To their credit, they DO buy junk cars consistently, they DO salvage sets of wheels and tires, recondition batteries, etc. They DO post accurate inventory databases online with mobile apps, usually offer 30-day warranties on parts with a promise of exchange of verified purchased parts with an identical replacement part, if and when available inventory, This value is inversely proportional to the value of your time or the unforeseen cost of tools and mechanic. This time, this camshaft sprocket/ harmonic balancer repair took me THREE visits to secure a part from a car that was available for a month, at a price 20% higher than the online listed price. A tool required to safely remove the crankshaft pulley from a V6 Honda Accord was arbitrarily refused entry on my second visit - yet allowed entry, a second time, the following weekend. This was nonsense, but reasoning with idiots does not make them smart - but it does make the need for competition a market imperative! Especially, since the State of California know that cars are their best tax base and are cheaper to regulate in a statewide market syndicate like the DMV. Who really has an alternative to the "my way or the highway" system of managing a society addicted to automobiles in order to survive? read more

That's a $100 part new at Ford. That car is barley worth that. Anyway, walked right in no charge. Tracked down the two cars I knew they had because I checked online the night before. Pulled one out of a 04 in the same color, sweet. Paid $18.00. Plugged it in and I'm out of there. 45 minutes max. No hassles. The place is clean for a junk yard. Final words... Of all the pick and pulls i contacted Moss landing was the only one to understand I was 100 miles away and when he had a chance he took a couple of picks of the part and shot them off to me. Saved me a 100 mile trip. I wish I had his name but area code 916 and maybe the Manager may know how helpful and able to grasp a situation and solve a problem his employee is. Hands down, the worst customer service I've ever experienced before. The older lady at the checkout counter was extremely rude and is obviously in the wrong profession. Her attitude and behavior was unacceptable and offensive. She acted more a person in law enforcement instead of a customer service representative. We had gone there for a couple weeks now trying to get a part to fix our other vehicle. My husband is mechanically inclined and brought it up to her window to pay for it. Denied that it was the part we know it to be and told us it was a different part and the price to be there times the part we got. She proceeded to look thru my purse and every nook and cranny and refused to give it back to me when she could not open a certain compartment. I live pretty far away from Moss Landing. But getting parts for one of my cars is getting increasingly difficult now days as there are very few on the road now. This time I needed a windshield. I have always been the kind of guy who gets satisfaction from fixing things myself. I would watch videos and youtube on how to pull and install parts, and complete the job with a lot of pride and satisfaction. This time I needed a windshield and I even bought a special tool from Harbor Freight to help me remove the windshield. This particular Pick N Pull location is rather isolated and has a Mad Max vibe to it. The area looks like the world ended and all that survived is an old power plant, fields of green, and a bunch of abandoned cars. How cool! Anyway, I pay my two dollar entrance fee and begin the process of removing the windshield. After taking off all the trim, I start using my special tool to separate the glass from the adhesive. After about 10 minutes, I cracked the windshield. F*ck... the video made it look so easy. It was at this point I realized I should go home now. There was another car with a good windshield. But I was pretty sure I would crack that one too. So I did not even try. The trip was not a total waste though. They are rude and unprofessional and complain constantly about how rude their customers are. The place is located in a very sensitive watershed--the elkhorn slough national estuarine reserve--and they are certainly leaking nasty fluids and debris into the environment. This is seriously not the company for you to utilize in getting rid of a car you have, unless its to choose their "Grab & Go" option, which is where you leave your car available for easy tow with all signed paperwork/title available to them with the keys And let them grab it whenever they can....because thats basically what they'll do to you anyway whether you're waiting for them(and a small check of anywhere from $25-$100 for your car depending on the year, its current condition and whether or not they have an excess amount of your type of car in stock at the time; my estimate came to a whopping $130 for my 2001 VW Jetta) or not. Not only did they call the day before my appointment to reschedule me for an afternoon on a weekend, but then after waiting for the 4 hour period, i called them to find that my driver is nowhere by santa cruz and is at their location in Moss Landing. He then confirms to be at my place within the hour- wrong again! I call the company to ask where he is, and of course the Scheduling and Pick Up dept has closed 15 minutes early to 5, so I have no one to speak to. I call again to ask to be transferred to a complaint dept, to find that line is disconnected from me. When i call back again for the 4th time, i just ask someone to look into it for me....i am left on speaker to them talking about it while i am on the phone...they contact the driver and tell me he's coming great- WHEN. Then someone ELSE calls me this time to tell me "oh he'll be there in 15 minutes" Rad dude. Wasted the entire day. So dont go with here. read more

I don't usually write reviews but this experience was so phenomenal I simply had to! I could not be more pleased with the service I received from Pick-n-Pull, Moss Landing this week that initiated with my phone conversation with Max(?) on the customer service line. Although this story has a VERY happy ending, it didn't begin very smoothly a couple of weeks ago when I first called them. When asked, I told them that I'd lost both my vehicle ignition key AND my pink slip but they asked me my VIN, checked it out and agreed to buy my car, anyway. This was good news because Pick-n-Pull gave me the best quote of all the other companies I had contacted. The lower bidders said I had to have a replacement pink slip in my possession before they would even agree to schedule a pick up!! After I accepted their offer, Pick-n-Pull checked and said they didn't have any trucks in the area at the time so they would have to sub-contracted an independent tow truck operator to pick up my car for them. That sounded OK to me but as it turned out the driver that arrived not only was negative about the location of my car on the edge of the driveway next to a bush but was disgruntled that I also didn't have a key. After a lot of other negative statements about potential property damage, he refused to take my car telling me it was impossible to tow it (even though he hadn't made one single effort to try). Before he drove away he called Pick-n-Pull to let them know he wasn't getting my car, then he had the nerve to tell me I had to first get my car towed out onto the street before he would agree to come back to pick it up and not to call back until I had a key and the car was in the street! ?!?!?WHAT?!?! I was so frustrated I just gave up and left the car sitting there for a while. After I calmed down, I decided to try to get it picked up again and this was when things turned for the better. I eventually managed to get back in contact with Pick-n-Pull. This time I talked with Max and told him about my prior negative experience with them. He was apologetic as he pleasantly reassured me that from the pictures he could see showing the vehicle's placement, it really shouldn't have been that big of a problem. He told me he was going to send a different truck and to call him back while the new pick up driver was still there if I encountered a similar problem and he would see what he could do. Fortunately this time a Pick-n-Pull truck came with a driver named Raphale to pick up my car. Raphale was right on time and was very friendly. He immediately checked over the vehicle and evaluated the challenges. After he checked my ID and had me sign a few forms, he got right to work using his equipment to maneuver and tow my car from its awkward position in my driveway onto the bed of his truck. He was extremely skillful during what ended up being a multi step process. He didn't complain once about the difficulty and continued to remain very calm and professional until the job was completed. I was extremely impressed with his expertise, especially that he was able to accomplish the task WITHOUT MY CAR KEY!! Wow! In a reasonable amount of time, he drove away with my car on his truck and I stood there amazed and happy with a check in my hand. The icing on the cake was that the check showed that Max had honored the original quote given to me over the phone 2 weeks ago just like he promised!!! This was my happy ending!!!! I will most definitely use Pick-n-Pull in the future and I highly recommend them to anyone that wants to sell a car as a fantastic company that not only gives a fair price but gives outstanding customer service, also! It has changed to much in ten years. It used to be fun to run around out there, but now they act like the business is a retail auto store, of used dirty junk. Customer service is crap. I asked if they had a airbag for a cabrio and they said no, but we have a passat that's a exact match so I grabbed it, of course it didn't fit. The back was completely different, so I headed back another weekend to exchange it and they said I couldn't because it was 2 days late on their 30 day exchange policy.. Worst experience ever. I had high expectations when I came in to sell my broken minivan on the afternoon of 7/ 5/ 19. They sound all friendly on the radio ads, right? As soon as I came in, I was greeted by a rabid pitbull by the name of Delilah Diaz. She was extremely rude and unfriendly, to the point of even tossing the paperwork on the counter and staring angrily at me. I think I would have been treated better by an actual rabid pitbull. Reminded me of Seinfeld's soup Nazi. Why do you have that kind of people interacting with customers? This Pick-N-Pull might be great for parts -- I don't know at all -- but it turned out to be a painful place to "retire" my truck in California's Vehicle Retirement Program. The employee conducting the process was friendly and helpful, but the process took THREE HOURS (oops -- didn't mean to shout). Nearly all the time was spent waiting for some corporate office to phone back and authorize the next step. Next time, I'll bring chips and dip to share with the other waiting customers. read more

Pick n Pull ripped me off. The employees are rude and uncaring. I needed to get some window and door lock parts for car. I went there since am recovering from cancer and only make 650 a month now on disability. I had recently replaced brake pads on my car so figured I could do the window and door lock also. When I was leaving with my parts I paid for them and the woman asked to look in my bag. She found a couple of brake pads worn down to the mettle ( from my replacement a couple months ago) one brand new brake pads (extra from the replacement and obviously never used it was in perfect out of the box condition) a hose clamp I bought for a radiator hose and the clamp that holds down my spare tire. I didn't even realize they were in my tool bag. So she CHARGED me for them. I could not afford them so I returned the part I just bought them had to pay 2 dollars more to get my parts that I already owned back. I understand that they could not tell where I got them and u should have checked my bag before going in. But I do expect common sense! If the woman had looked she would have also found the box my good brake pads came in, and the package the hose clamp came in. And why in earth would I steel brake pads that were worn down to the metel? She also found an sensor that I replaced a couple months ago. It's the old one from my car. I replaced it with one bought at Pick n Pull and I have the receipt from that purchase. I am formerly a small business owner and I do not agree with stealing in any way. In fact ii am quite passionate about that. So to go there and be treated like a thief WHILE being robbed by them is just too much! So I encourage anyone who goes to pick and pull to steal whatever you can from them. Because sooner or later, they are going to steal from you. Called "Cash for Junk Cars" to have them remove a junk car from my yard. Their contract was with Pick-n-pull. Driver shows up 3 hours late, looks at the car and drives away without it. It is a "junk car", not a new one. I just wanted it removed, did not care about the $12 they offered. Scheduled a second pickup, no show. Called the Cash for Junk Cars number again, they changed their mind and said it was 'too far' and the 'condition of the car was unacceptable'...the last part indicating the driver had actually been there and was too lazy to take it away. read more

I really like this PNP, it's a neat drive over there and being out by farms it really feels and smells like being in the country. Staff are laidback to match and sometimes open to persuasion... As is the case with these kind of yards it can be hit or miss but most of the time for me this place is a hit, it's almost a hidden trove of parts that would otherwise be gone in a flash if it were somewhere else. read more
