Really nice restaurant with friendly staff! I came here because of a recommendation of my nice! En she was damn right. Really close to the trevi fountain which was a bit dissaponting at the time i visited it, because it was under construction. This restaurant made the day good. To welcome you, you will get a glas prosecco of the house. We took nice buffalo mozzarella with juicy tomatoes. And enjoyed the pasta with clams and mushrooms and the pasta salmone. To make our experience complete we took a piece of delicious tiramisu and creme catalana! Ow my gosh! they were mouthwattering! The staff was friendly and quick, maybe to quick sometimes. Get off the Main Street and come to this gem. Wife said this was the best meal she ever had in a restaurant. We were the first people there at 6:30 and didn't have a reservation. I think we were the only people to get a table without a reservation. They turned away many people so my suggestion is to reserve a table. Awesome mussels and pasta. The place is a true 4.5 but yelp only does five..Ok, We found this place on a last minute check on Yelp...it was 300 ft from where we were staying so why not. Everything was delicious. They started us off with a nice prosecco to get the palate ready. We then started off w the artichoke romana and the anchovies w olive oil. Excellent..I'm new to anchovies trying them first in Cinque Terre and have been ordering them since. They were fresh, had a little light spice due to the chili flakes in the olive oil and not fishy at all. I had the lamb chops which were seasoned well but not as meaty as I wanted. Only complaint. My better half had the seafood linguini and said it was good. The shellfish was fresh and the sauce was a nice complimentary red sauce. The linguine was perfectly cooked. We ended the meal w the tiramisu and I don't remember the name but it was a light whipped cream w a hint of lemon on top of a flakey pastry w fresh berries and shaved chocolate. All delightful. Their famous orange sauce ravioli is the best ravioli I have ever had, and it's actually filling (unlike most ravioli dishes I've had). Definitely recommend a reservation if you can. Or you can walk by the Trevi fountain at night and explore the area. read more

This was the first place we ate in Rome and by far, our favorite place. I still keep dreaming about the spaghetti with clams that I ordered. I've never tasted pasta anything like it. It's cooked al dente in a way that there's a clear bite, but chewy in the best ways possible. Huge thanks for Yelp that we were able to find this place. It's just a short walk from the Trevi fountain and tucked away on a small side street. You'll be able to spot it because of the lighting and chairs outside. Friendly staff too. Quintessential Italian restaurant. Off the main walkways in an otherwise touristy area. I had the fettucini with salmon/cream sauce, the Mrs. had the pasta carbonara. Hers was excellent through and through: the pasta texture was perfect, sauce was spot on, bacon was a good contrast. The salmon taste on mine was a bit overwhelming until I bathed it in Parmesan cheese. They charge for bread with no olive oil/butter anything but no cover charge. Service was ok. Since we have been in Italy I have given the restaurants the benefit of the doubt almost to a fault, but in this case I have to say that I have absolutely no idea how this restaurant gets over four stars. Maybe we just made "unfortunate" menu choices, but I was not impressed. I ordered the osso buco and it seemed as though it had been cooked for all of about 15 minutes. There was nothing tender about it. By far the worst version of this dish I have ever had. My daughter ordered the beef filet medium well and it came out completely bloody and red. Sent it back and it was completely over cooked. My wife's pasta with lobster was pretty decent so no complaints there. Our fourth person had caprese salad. It was also fine. Again, I am not pretentious in my expectations...I just want good food and I have had these dishes enough to know good from not so good. The service was ok, but not particularly attentive. Many times when I am not particularly impressed I consciously don't post a review in the event I am being too critical or had a non-typical experience. In this case I feel it is deserved. read more

We went here our first night in Rome and it was great. I ordered the carbonara and my friend ordered the lasagna. The carbonara was good, not great but the lasagna had such a great sauce. It was definitely the highlight for us. The staff was very friendly and we did not feel like we were at a tourist trap restaurant. What a fantastic place. It's tucked away down a side street that tourists don't go in (literally!) and there's no other shops on the street so it looks like you may be in the wrong place. But you aren't, and it's a hidden gem of Rome. We had online reservations for 8, but arrived at 7:15 exhausted from a day of walking and starving. They graciously took us early and for our very first dinner meal in Rome, they set the tone for a great vacation. The bread to start was warm and seemed like it had just come out of the oven homemade. The spaghetti carbonara was insane -- my wife is a big fan, so she had it for pretty much every dinner meal on vacation. Having tried ones both inexpensive and outrageously expensive... nothing beats Piccolo Arancio. The only nitpick I have is that they served quickly -- they have a lot of business and the earlier you seat, the more they will try to get you out the door for other restaurants. I don't mind it at all, but it was a little too quick. The tiramisu was fantastic, the meat courses were fantastic. The wine, the waiter service... everything was tremendous. One of the first restaurants I will think of when I think of this vacation is this very place. read more

Off the beaten path tucked in a narrow alleyway, it doesn't get better than this. The veal chop was cooked to perfection and the side of grilled vegetables completed the meal. Totally authentic and simply outstanding. The staff are friendly and courteous and made us feel welcomed right away. The complimentary prosecco (and oj for the kids) at the start of the meal and almond biscotti at the end of the meal was a very nice touch and also delicious. As we were leaving we could help but look on with envy at a table of 8 digging into a perfectly seared florentine steak. With all the less than appealing tourist traps in the vicinity, this place stands head and shoulders above them all and at a very fair and reasonable price. read more

I had the roman style artichoke heart appetizer and the zucchini flower appetizer that is fried with cheese and anchovies. The way they were prepared they weren't heavy at all. Very tasty! For my pasta I had the gnocchi with a salmon cream sauce. I savored every bite. The house red wine was a delight with the dinner. I finished it off with some pistachio gelato. Yum! The staff was very accommodating to me since I didn't have a reservation on a Friday evening and seated me right away. This wonderful little restaurant is half a block from the tourist packed streets near Trevi Fountain, where people are lined up waiting for seats in restaurants. If there is a wait before they can seat you at Piccolo Arancio they bring you a glass of proseco to drink while you wait. We didn't have to wait and they brought us glass of proseco and a plate with a few bites of ripe cherry tomatoes and Parmesan to enjoy while choosing our meal. This restaurant is around the corner from my friend's apartment, and it was one of the best meals I had in Rome. It is a hidden gem tucked away on a narrow alley and provides a welcome break from the tourist traps on the main streets. The ravioli with orange cream sauce was wonderful and a nice change from the standard pasta dishes elsewhere. Service was prompt and friendly. I see that some people are hung up on the charge for bread, but that's standard throughout Rome. Other than those restaurants in Venice that have been fined for charging tourists $500 for lunch by bringing expensive seafood dishes that they didn't order, a few euros for bread is hardly worth fretting over. Read about Rome before you go and then you will know to ask how much the bread costs or any other seemingly free items brought to your table. The level of attentiveness of the wait staff is also standard for Italy -- you are left alone to enjoy your meal as long as you wish, which means you flag down your waiter if you need anything. If you go to Rome expecting non-Roman customs, you will always be disappointed. Read about Rome and then enjoy the experience despite knowing that you might slip up sometimes and wind up paying more than you expected for food or goods or taxi rides. If you have traveled in less-industrialized countries in the world, you know that to a certain extent you must go with the flow when traveling so that you don't waste time getting fussy over aspects of the culture that are different or less convenient than your own. Porcini were in peak season, so we lucked out. The service was pleasant and efficient and the owner was a welcoming and very gracious host. The house wines were more than adequate. This is a bright star among a big pile of poop. I've been here all month because of work. I've tried a few places in the area in staying- here near trevi- and for the most part they are nasty to average. The place right below my apartment, piccolo arancia, is off the beaten path but always full. Then, I got back late one night and got in. I've been back twice now. It is fantastic. We were escorted through the kitchen to a cozy dining room (accessible from the street on warmer days, but the doors were closed on this chilly December evening). I spent 10 days in Italy with my family (5 adults total), traveling throughout the Amalfi Coast, Rome and Florence and I can truly say that this was one of our top experiences while in Italy. The food is incredible (the fried artichoke and tiramisu are two of the best things I've ever had) and very well priced, the ambience is authentic and cozy, and the staff is efficient, professional, welcoming and incredibly friendly. Carlo and Mara were the perfect hosts and made us feel right at home!
