Chicken Parmesan
Aleshia A.

This is a nice little Italian spot. It was pretty busy when we walked in but we were greeted and seated quickly. The menu js very simple it's mainly pizza and four pasta dishes, and a couple dishes dishes that don't involve pasta. The kids menu is non existent, but they will make any of the pasta dishes kid sized if you request. The pizzas crust is not for me it's way too thin and not cooked enough to hold the toppings. The toppings are fresh tho! The chicken Parmesan was a huge dish easily could be shared if you wanted, had good flavor but nothing to write home about and finally the salmon dish was pretty good. The sauce they put on top is quite delicious and needed because the spinach they serve it with has no seasoning at all. The risotto that came with it also had a great flavor. If you get desserts stick to the cakes and pies. The tiramisu was like a trifle situation and it wasn't very good. The carrot cake and peanut butter pie were both fine.

Delish rucula salad

What a delightful hidden lunch spot. Found it when looking for lunch specials around Asheville and I did not disappoint. Less than 3 miles from my house, this is going to be a new favorite. For $11 you get a drink, a side salad, and a slice of pizza with three toppings. I was really impressed at the topping list. I was also impressed that a side salad could be any of their specialty salads. Woot woot. They also have a slightly more expensive sandwich combo but I wanted a slice. On my slice, I opted for cheese and marinara with a bit of pesto, caramelized, onions, and spinach. The spinach was actually pretty robust, which seems good, but might've been a bit too much for the pizza. I'm more of an arugula on top girl. They're peso in caramelized onions were absolutely delightful. Honestly, everything tasted very homemade. The pizza was also woodfired and thin which is my favorite. As I said, before, I love arugula. So I opted for the salad. Incredible array of nuts, berries, and balsamic dressing. Super delicious. I would get this as a full size and add a protein for sure. It didn't appear as though we had one server, but rather they all kind of just helped out. Somebody who seemed like a manager or owner helped us to the table. Overall, everybody was incredibly friendly and it wasn't too busy. Since it was lunch, we did not get a drink, but their prices seems pretty reasonable. Love this little gem, and I will certainly be back soon

Chicken Piccata
Terrilynn D.

My friend said, "let's meet at Piazza" and all I was thinking was pizza. And I'm sorry, but I'm not a big pizza fan. And yes, they do serve pizza here but... I ordered the risotto and he had the chicken piccata. With mine I had the Nebbiolo and he had the Montepulciano. Gotta tell y'all, my risotto was absolutely amazing. Creamy and cheesy with beautiful caramelized onions and Italian sausage and topped with five blackened shrimp. It was amazing. Even without the shrimp. The service was friendly and efficient .. even in these times of scarcity of servers. It may not appear the most impressive resto (thank you, because I don't appreciate pretension) and it is very lively with families and chatter, but the food is wonderful. I'm heading back for more ASAP. Grazie!

We absolutely loved this meal and it definitely makes sense why Soprana is recommended by the…read moreMichelin guide. We came here on a Saturday for dinner and were able to get seated at the bar right away. It is first come first serve at the bar, and there's over 12 seats at the bar. Reservations were completely booked up so no tables were available until 9:30 pm. My one complaint would be they told us no tables were available, but they left at least 4 tables completely empty for over 30 min and wouldn't let other people sit at them. They said it was for reservations who had ended up canceling because of the bad rainy weather that night. People were turned away at the door when tables were available. We ended up loving sitting at the bar because we got to chat with the bartenders and see the chefs make the pizzas. The crust for the pizza is literally perfect. The chewiest pizza I've ever had. I usually leave the pizza crust but I ate all of mine this time. My partner and I shared a focaccia with whipped ricotta for an appetizer. And we got two pizzas, one red sauce and one white sauce. The meatball pizza was absolutely delicious with the red chili flakes that are provided. And the artichoke pizza balanced well with the fresh arugula and pesto sauce. I would highly recommend coming here and trying to get a reservation. If you can't you can wait to sit at the bar or order to-go.

Unfortunately the only couch available did not have a heater or fire for warmth. The food and atmosphere was great, but the service was a bit slow! They were quite busy, and we had to wait for silverware as everything was still in the dishwasher. Our server was apologetic and kind about it. They did offer a free dessert for the birthday celebration, one of three options! We selected the cannolis, which were not a classic cannoli and not quite for me (cinnamon and chocolate). The Italian sausage and Gorgonzola pizza was delicious and the salad was fresh and tasty!

The salad was big - mostly chopped lettuce (love that it was chopped already) topped with some cheese, olives, green peppers and tomato slices. I don't eat my salads soaked in dressing so there was enough dressing for me but it felt like the dressing cup wasn't very full if you do like a wet salad. Breadsticks were good and airy. Lots of cheese on top. I preferred the pizza over the breadsticks over the 2 visits I had 3 types of slices. For speciality slices they top a slice of cheese with the toppings then bake it so the toppings aren't baked down into the cheese. Still good. When I lived here years ago, we used this spot as a quick bite when we were out brewery hopping or pre gaming for a show. Huge inside with plenty of seating and some games. Service, i waited at the counter for about 5 minutes before someone was off the phone and took my order. Food came pretty quickly, the guy behind the counter one of the guys was wearing a tank top, honestly that should not be allowed for health reasons. Maybe after a few beers things would taste different but like i said before each their own.

The sister restaurant to Winston-Salem's acclaimed Mission Pizza Napoletana, Mission Pizza…read moreAsheville (aka Mission Pizza Romana) is decidedly not your typical neighborhood slice shop. The Roman squares are made of a thick dough that looks like focaccia but is both lighter and crispier. They come in single 5" by 7" rectangles (spuntino, $8-$10), 5" by 13" pies (mezzo, $15-$19), or 9" x 13" party size portions (tutto, $30-$38). While you can build your own custom pizza, the default options include a Calabrian with pepper jam, a funghi & charred tomato, a sfincione with breadcrumb topping, a patate with potato cream, and a rotating special. A few dips, an arugula salad, cauliflower cacio pepe, and meatballs are also available. Wanting a few slices to commemorate Pi Day, my wife and I shared a Calabrian, a funghi & charred tomato, and a daily special. Ordering was easy, and Terra Nova's "green industrial" vibe (check out that moss wall) made for interesting ambiance. Our pizza was not cheap, but it was very satisfying, and Mission uses high-quality ingredients. The Calabrian offered a good combination of sweet and spicy while the funghi & charred tomato delivered creamy (ricotta) and smoky. The crust was done perfectly: crisp without being overly charred. There are many places in Asheville where you can grab a pizza and a beer, but none can offer you the same experience that Mission does. Unless you're a New York-style pizza purist, you owe it to yourself to give Mission a try.

I like the style of pizza and they have some interesting specialty pizzas. I just didn't love how the pizza we had only had a very small amount of cheese. It was also super messy, the pizza had breadcrumbs on top, which were good, but they went everywhere all over the table. We also tried the meatballs, which were good but nothing special. I am all about being eco friendly but the taste of the wooden fork ruined the taste of the meatball (not a fan of the popsicle stick type flavor when eating).

Almost every beer on the menu is a split batch fermented with two different yeast strains to showcase the resulting differences. It's a great concept, even if you're not into brewing. In terms of the food, it seems like the really leaned into providing something good, well-balanced, and sometimes takes advantage of the yeast and beer being cultivated on site. I had a house salad and some dilly beans for lunch. The house salad was fresh and extremely well balanced. I'm glad they had something vegetable centric available. The dilly beans were good, but quite a bit for a single human. They're probably the type of thing you would want to split among friends. I actually showed up for an event in the evening where they served pizza using dough fermented with one of their yeast strains. That was truly excellent. Nicely balanced, not over the top, with a deeply flavorful crust. If you're in Asheville, I would consider this a must visit destination.

It felt awkward to take back/have it redone, but they did do that for us and it was much better the second time. The dough bites were nothing special and the beets could have been more flavorful. My husband also didn't super love any of the beers in his flight, but maybe he just didn't order correctly. Both he and a friend felt disappointed in the Frankenstout. Our server was very kind and had great recommendations for the menu. we started with the half focaccia bread service, and it was fluffy and fragrant. Absolutely would recommend. For drinks, our server started us off with a sample of their sumac soda, a non alcoholic cocktail. It was mildly sweet and tangy, with some woody tones to it. It was so good we ordered another non-alcoholic drink, the fig cocktail, and that was great too. for the food, we got the lion's mane mushrooms, the gnocchi, and the broccoli. The gnocchi is my favorite. Probably the best gnocchi I've had in my life. The mushrooms were a close second, they were so tender and flavorful. The broccoli was a bit spicy and it was a good complement to the other dishes. Once again, our server's recs were spot on. For dessert we got the tiramisu. it was a solid tiramisu. Our server gave us a sample of the soft serve ice cream, and that was actually better than the tiramisu. Highly recommend their seasonal soft serve for a unique and delicious flavor.
