This is a nice little Italian spot. It was pretty busy when we walked in but we were greeted and seated quickly. The menu js very simple it's mainly pizza and four pasta dishes, and a couple dishes dishes that don't involve pasta. The kids menu is non existent, but they will make any of the pasta dishes kid sized if you request. The pizzas crust is not for me it's way too thin and not cooked enough to hold the toppings. The toppings are fresh tho! The chicken Parmesan was a huge dish easily could be shared if you wanted, had good flavor but nothing to write home about and finally the salmon dish was pretty good. The sauce they put on top is quite delicious and needed because the spinach they serve it with has no seasoning at all. The risotto that came with it also had a great flavor. If you get desserts stick to the cakes and pies. The tiramisu was like a trifle situation and it wasn't very good. The carrot cake and peanut butter pie were both fine. read more

This has always been our favorite Italian restaurant in Asheville area but we were disappointed in a few things last night. They have changed the food and the beer menu. They have listed the "Drafts" from the top under the word "Drafts" but then there is a tiny separation between the next list of beers without distinguishing anywhere that these next beers are NOT drafts, only bottles and cans which led to ordering something that my man did not want and was already opened. Please add a line or type in that they are bottles & cans. Their Greek salad is still amazing and the lasagna was delicious and huge! I ordered my favorite, the salmon, which has always been wonderful but apparently, they have decided to drown it in a very strong honey mustard sauce which I did not like. It totally took away the simple and delicious flavor of the fish. My server brought me another piece of salmon immediately and it was just as delicious as it used to be. By the way, no where on the menu did it describe that the salmon came with this over-powering sauce or I would have requested it to be left off from the beginning. The Manager just looked perplexed about it but never came to our table to address us or the situation. Our server who said she has only been there a little over 3 months was wonderful and very sweet, taking care of our little issues in stride with a smile and an apology. We decided to end our meal with the four of us sharing a yummy carrot cake slice. I understand that the restaurant might want to make some changes in their menus but they need to pay attention to the details of the items and include them so people are aware of what they are ordering. What a delightful hidden lunch spot. Found it when looking for lunch specials around Asheville and I did not disappoint. Less than 3 miles from my house, this is going to be a new favorite. For $11 you get a drink, a side salad, and a slice of pizza with three toppings. I was really impressed at the topping list. I was also impressed that a side salad could be any of their specialty salads. Woot woot. They also have a slightly more expensive sandwich combo but I wanted a slice. On my slice, I opted for cheese and marinara with a bit of pesto, caramelized, onions, and spinach. The spinach was actually pretty robust, which seems good, but might've been a bit too much for the pizza. I'm more of an arugula on top girl. They're peso in caramelized onions were absolutely delightful. Honestly, everything tasted very homemade. The pizza was also woodfired and thin which is my favorite. As I said, before, I love arugula. So I opted for the salad. Incredible array of nuts, berries, and balsamic dressing. Super delicious. I would get this as a full size and add a protein for sure. It didn't appear as though we had one server, but rather they all kind of just helped out. Somebody who seemed like a manager or owner helped us to the table. Overall, everybody was incredibly friendly and it wasn't too busy. Since it was lunch, we did not get a drink, but their prices seems pretty reasonable. Hands down our favorite pizza and general dining place in the area. The pizzas are great, salads terrific and HUGE, pasta and sandwiches all meet the same high standard. We just happened to be doing something in the same strip so we decided to have dinner here the other night. It looked nice both inside and out. The meal started out very nicely as our waiter was very nice, albeit tough to understand (yes, he is from the US). We started with the cheesy bread which I must say was very good. However, the homemade red sauce was very thin and not good. It ruined the cheesy bread if you put it on. One son had penne past which is said was decent, not outstanding. My other son had chicken parm which he said was OK, again with thin bad sauce. My wife's dish was very average and my meatball parm was below average. The meatballs were not good and broke apart too easily My meatballs are much better. The red sauce, once again, was very thin and ruined the dish. The roll they put the meat in was wrong for a meatball parm. This place, as I said, it very average. I red sauce restaurant must have excellent red sauce, and this place unfortunately doesn't. read more

Visiting from out of town, we came for dinner with friends and had a great meal. Hubs and I split a regular Caesar and a Tutta Carne (meat pizza). I liked that they had Coke Zero on the menu and not just Diet Coke. We also enjoyed the salad which had great shaved Parmesan as well as a good probably homemade dressing and the pizza, which had a nice tangy sauce, delicious meat and light crust. I am so disappointed in Piazza. I've watched them slowly decline in quality of both food and service, and they bottomed out on my last take-out pizza order. The pizza I ordered had obviously been made, then cheese and toppings added on top and re-cooked. The flavor and texture were awful. To top it off, they randomly close all the time, when they would usually be open. It seems like chaos. It'll be shame to see them go out of business, but I hope a better restaurant replaces them. read more

Solid Italian place with BIG portions- I've only ever gotten the pizza and salad, but they have a pretty decently sized menu to choose from. Everything is made fresh (brick oven cooked pizzas upon order), and I really like that you can customize and make your own pizza or do half and half of their specialties, though that may be pricy. Only thing that's a bit odd to me is their Caesar salad- I get it every time because it's delicious, but it seems more like a mix between a Greek salad and a Caesar than a traditional Caesar, which is what I was expecting the first time I ordered. My friend said, "let's meet at Piazza" and all I was thinking was pizza. And I'm sorry, but I'm not a big pizza fan. And yes, they do serve pizza here but... I ordered the risotto and he had the chicken piccata. With mine I had the Nebbiolo and he had the Montepulciano. Gotta tell y'all, my risotto was absolutely amazing. Creamy and cheesy with beautiful caramelized onions and Italian sausage and topped with five blackened shrimp. It was amazing. Even without the shrimp. The service was friendly and efficient .. even in these times of scarcity of servers. It may not appear the most impressive resto (thank you, because I don't appreciate pretension) and it is very lively with families and chatter, but the food is wonderful. Nice atmo and pretty good desserts, beer is good on tap too, but for a place that's named after pizza, their pizza is (and I hate to say) pretty damn weak. and a bit over priced. We have been several times and keep hoping they get better. You would think there's a pepperoni and cheese shortage the way they barely add any on a basic large pepperoni pizza. Should we bring our own cheese guys?? Call me crazy but I like some cheese on a pizza. I thought Piazza was just okay. We needed some pizza for the kids that was on the way back to our cabin. Overall Asheville is just expensive - more expensive than Atlanta. Pricing is weird because if you buy a large "make your own pizza" - they include up to four toppings in the price. So I paid $22 for a 14" cheese pizza and $22 for a 14" sausage + pepperoni pizza - both of which cost $5 more than specialty pizza's with more toppings. We were tired and hungry so I did not have the energy to shop around. We also picked up a couple of slices of chocolate cake and carrot cake. Those were delicious! read more

They have some interesting choices in pizzas including Weird Science and Forrest Gump varieties. For a 10 inch pizza it ranges in price from $10-$15. We really enjoy this place. We only get pizza and salad so I can't speak for the rest of the menu. The thing we like about the pizzas is that you can get a 10" option. Considering thin crust, it's a great amount for 2 kids. Then we can get another 10" for mom and dad. Sometimes we don't want to get a large for the whole family as we like variety. We were craving Italian food and a local friend recommended Piazza as one of their favorite places. I was surprised that almost every table was full when we arrived on Sunday evening, since Piazza is located outside of downtown Asheville. Since almost every Yelp review raves about their pizza, we decided to try the Sicilia 14'' pizza. We enjoyed watching the pizzas being rotated and removed from the large brick oven near our table as we waited for our food. The mussels appetizer (~$10) had the best flavorful (albeit a tad on the salty side) marinara sauce to dip into, and came with 2 small pieces of olive-oil drizzled bread. I do wish they provided more bread but we made do by dipping our pizza crusts into that marinara sauce when our pizza arrived! The pizza itself arrived piping hot, with about 8 slices. We each ate about 2.5 pieces before we became really full. The crust is thin, slightly chewy/doughy; delicious, but not the very best pizza dough I've ever had. There wasn't much tomato sauce on our pizza and the toppings and mozzarella cheese kept sliding off, unfortunately. But this was redeemed by the savory meat ball, Italian sausage, and salami that came on top of the pizza. The salami was especially tasty and I could tell that it was freshly sliced, and my hubby particularly loved how the melty mozzarella was super stringy. Piazza is a great place for take-out pizza or dining in, and I'd love to come back to try their pasta! Their prices are pretty good compared to downtown Asheville prices. Also, I was eyeing other tables' huge salads, which looked so fresh and crunchy. Described by my waitress as diced pancetta, fresh mozzarella, grana podano, béchamel base, topped with pecorino romano and Malabar black pepper. Let me just say this local pizza joint is as close to Italy as I have found in Asheville. Not a New York style pizza place but authentic Italian. I believe they import their tomatoes and flour from Italy and it definitely shows in quality. My waitress even remembered me from previous visits. A+ service with A+ food. Piazza is one of my most favorite restaurants in the Asheville area. I've been going for the last 15 years. We ate there a couple nights ago and was totally taken aback at the decline in the quality of the food. I've never had a bad meal there until the other night. I ordered chicken parm and immediately noticed that it was nothing like it usually us. Chicken was total rubber and inedible. The pizza was lacking it's usual good texture and flavor. The calamari appetizer tasted very fishy. I was so disappointed because it usually is so reliable. I don't know what's going on with management or the kitchen but I'm totally pulling for y'all to get back on track. Y'all are so awesome and hope you figure out what is wrong. We have been eating here since March of 2019. I am now chubbier. It is amazing. The host, the hostess, the servers- all friendly and knowledgable about the food. You can tell that they care about making customers happy. We always get a booth, and I always feel really ritzy in that booth. The decor is beautiful, with repurposed stuff that is modern yet practical. The booth is roomy. At night, a small lamp overhead provides just the right amount of light. It feels like home. The napkins are at the table. You get a pitcher of water. It is always refilled if you want it to be. It is clean. So are the bathrooms. The food is out of this world. The pizza is perfect. You can ask for a plain cheese, as opposed to the Margherita. They will know what you mean. The crust is crazy. There is a slight spicy sweetness to it, like nutmeg. I cannot place it, but it is delicious. The salad is stupendous. Pesto dressing is the best here. The mozzarella sticks are the most. Not greasy and totally addictive. The rice balls (with more pesto) are ritzy. They are so huge that they can be a main meal. The pesto pasta with chicken is plentiful. You get a lot of richness. Can you tell that I enjoy pesto? Italian fries are fabulous. Spiced like pizza. Lastly, the chicken parm is plentiful. You may get a piece that can serve four, with pasta and veggies to boot. You have to indulge yourself at Piazza, just as I have indulged myself with the usage of alliterative adjectives. They also have a separate bar with adjacent desserts. It is not safe to get inebriated by chocolate mousse. I will try the caramel brownie one day, I will! One last fact- there is a mysterious image painted on the wall. It is Orko mixed with a duck. Ok. I have to update my review based on our past 2 experiences here. The service keeps getting better, not worse thank goodness, which is why I had an issue before. We come here because of the gluten free options. The last 2 times we have came, we have had great service, and the waitstaff has went above and beyond to help choose different options to meet my GF needs. Tonight I had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was so amazingly good. It has now become my fav dish there so far. I usually have the GF pizza, but it just got beat out. I am completely obsessed with their risotto, which my BF had tonight with his Salmon. The meals came out quickly, drinks stayed filled, server came by often to check on us. It was great!! Big difference in service than a couple of months ago. I also ordered take out here a few weeks ago. Easy to order, ready in 15 mins, went to the bar to pick up, everything was exactly how I ordered, down to extra dressings. And they put in plastic silverware without me asking.
